Cast of Characters: Superman, Corusca

Superman has posed:
What more could anyone ask for? A briliant diamond filled sky? A crisp summer breeze? Soft white clouds? Super hearing to listen in for sounds of bullets and explosions that people need saving from? The soft sigh of a certain human sleeping safe and sound and peacefully in her apartment instead of running into trouble? Superman has it all tonight.

He floats silently above a cloud, body relaxed and calm, eyes closed as he drifts lightly, listening tot he planet he loves.

Corusca has posed:
Super hearing picks up the flap of wings even at a considerable distance. They are large wings moving laguidly. Super sight will see.. nothing. Which is a fairly bizarre thing for a fellow used to being able to see a gnat at a hundred paces and hear it fart. The flapping comes closer and as it does can be triangulated to something large coming closer.. flying towards Superman. Eventually, the flapping stops.

What appears next is something fae and female and with wings considerably smaller than what he just heard. She shimmers into being like an illusion dropping or, perhaps, coming into being, with an expression of introspective curiosity upon her face. She is clearly trying to decide what to make of, "Superman." The tone is identifying but interrogative. Like, she's pretty sure she knows who she is addressing but would like confirmation. "Somehow.. I expected you to be larger."

Superman has posed:
Superman just watches the nothing he can hear flying toward him. The relaxed is gone in favor of an at-ready tension. His head tilts as the thing that appears does NOT jive with the massive wing span he was hearing. He nods his head to confirm that he is indeed the Man of Steel.

"I could say the same," he replies. He MEANT because the wing size he heard was larger, not that she's too short or something.

Corusca has posed:
Corusca laughs, something musical and otherworldly. "Many expect the fae to be tiny hand sized creatures. It is true but they come in all manner of shapes and sizes. Not many know that." She gives him a wink then flutters her wings to circle him as if checking him out. Sadly, the cape covers the posterior and he could hear a little sigh as she rounds him. As she comes to face him again, she smiles.

"Should I be honored?" She inquires puckishly. "Or circumspect." She seems to sniff at the air in his direction. "I ask because I hear many suspicious of the motives of those who are not from this world." She cants her head. "You smell familiar."

Superman has posed:
"The fae? You're... a fairy?" Superman replies, sounding a bit surprised. He doesn't seem bothered by the circling, though he does turn to glance back at the little sigh he heard.

"I suppose that's really a question only you can answer for youself, whether to trust me or not. I try to be as trustworthy as possible, but I can't force anyone to think a certain way," he says, not taking the bait as to his scent.

Corusca has posed:
"There are many magical creatures in this world, Superman." The winged woman replies. "Does it surprise you that you could meet one? Over Metropolis? Appearing from nothing? We are, those of us who remain, adept at hiding in plain sight. We must be. For has not man destroyed us? Destroyed our realms? Our homes?" She gestures to the city. "Gone are the green wild places. Swarming like ants is mankind. Bringing war and famine to his own but others as well."

She considers him for a time. "But you have a reputation and are not human. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, Kal El. For now, you may call me Corusca."

Superman has posed:
"No. I guess. Not really? I'm sorry for.. things, Corusca," say Superman, not really sure how to handle this now. His eyes are drawn to soemthing down below.

Corusca has posed:
"You apologize for things you have not done." Corusca seems suspicious of this. "Why? If it is for empathy, I accept this. But some may consider the words hollow." Her eyes, twinkling in blue as gems may, look Superman up and down. "And so, you maintain who you are." Her lips purse then she looks below. "They fight amongst themselves always. It is hard for me to have empathy for them when it has always been their way. I am curious.. why do you?"

Superman has posed:
"Empathy. Your people were hurt by others here. I'm sorry for it, that I'm not sure there's anything I can really do. I help them because... I want to," Superman says, feeling like it's not enough but watching that fire spreading it distracting. "I'm sorry. I think I need to..."

Corusca has posed:
Corusca looks down to the burgeoning blaze. She could smell the sulphur and see the prick of light from the fire though she was sure the blaze was bright as day to Superman. "If you must then you must. I'm afraid that where it comes to fire I am not much use putting them out. Though if you do not mind the company, I can assist you in rescuing any within the blaze." She gestures downwards.

Superman has posed:
Hovering still, Superman peers down at the blaze, flinching as a sudden explosion makes it so much worse.

"Yeah," is all he says to Corusca before he's diving down toward the blaze. Corusca magics herself to the blaze and between the pair, the day is saved!
