Thor consults Steve and Bucky about what Loki's been doing...
Date of Scene: 11 October 2019
Location: Triskelion grounds
Synopsis: A plan is formed for dealing with Loki's magic, and soon Bucky will be free of unwanted demands, hopefully.
Cast of Characters: Thor, Winter Soldier, Captain America, Melinda May

Thor has posed:
Thor really has been flying all over the place recently. A King's work is never done, particularly when it comes to evaluating just what his brother has been doing...and not doing. He's heard a different report from Sif to give him perspective. And then there was the incident with Peter Parker earlier in the day. That was fairly worrisome.

So it is, with a thundercloud behind him, he lands, and heads inside, where he asks where Bucky might be.

Winter Soldier has posed:
What he gets, even as a King deigning to visit a Midgardian agency, is a polite deadpan and an offer to see if Agent Barnes is available. Turns out he is - Buck's in black SHIELD fatigues, hair tied neatly back into a knot. At his left side paces a big female German Shepherd. At his right, the Golden Doodle of Freedom AKA Steven Rogers. "King Thor," he says, simply, as he comes into the reception area. Deadpan, in that wary way he has. "What can I do for you?"

Captain America has posed:
Steve in his navy-blue stealth suit and silver-starred presence means that, alongside Barnes' fatigues, they've recently returned from some SHIELD-ly errand. His shield is on his back and he nods curtly towards Thor on approach.

He doesn't speak, not at first, given this technically isn't his rodeo. The Asgardian royal asked for his oldest friend beside him and as such, the Captain rests his hands on his belt buckle, glancing between Bucky and Thor.

Thor has posed:
Thor says, "...I have come to discuss my brother. I understand he's...been involved with you lately. Involved with you both." And that is...a thing. He would've said a bad thing prior to talking with Sif, but now he can't be so sure it's a bad thing. Perhaps there's hidden depths in his brother after all. Or...perhaps everyone but Sif is right. It's another piece of the puzzle.

He...can't say what he'll find in this mission of his, but he hopes things are trending more Sif's way then the other stories he's heard.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Buck's lips thin out....and the big dog leans herself against Buck's leg. "This isn't something for public discussion," he says, and his voice is strained, despite the softness. "We can go take a meeting room, or we can go walk out on the Island, whichever you'd prefer, King," No particular deference, even if Thor is an immortal monarch. His eyes flick to Steve, but then he's looking levelly back at the Asgardian.

Captain America has posed:
"Figure outside'll be best. Wind's not too bad 'nd the air'll be nice. Suits tend to trap body heat," Steve comments lightly, even if his smile doesn't reach his eyes. Oh joy -- discussing Loki, his absolutely favorite. Granted, his stress levels were already higher with this morning's near-horror show in the Avenger's medical bay, but at least the young Spiderman is stable.

With a tilt of his head, the Captain then leads the two other men outside and onwards to the small section of greenery accounted for as part of the Triskelion's grounds. He stops beneath the shade of a tree halfway turned of color and gives Bucky a long look.

And a sigh. "You wanna do the honors or shall I?" he asks of the Soldier.

Thor has posed:
Thor heads over to the area, and then looks around to make sure nobody overhears it. The problem with Loki, of course, is that even if Midgard wants to arrest him, and they certainly do, he's not technically of Midgard, and he's answerable to Asgardian law. Which creates headaches for both Thor and Midgardian friends. "At least the Warrior of Spiders is alright. It was close indeed for a Valkyrie to notice..."

It's a side topic, but Spiderman's survival is at least a kinder topic than Loki. "...Well...whether I want to hear it or not, I must."

Winter Soldier has posed:
They're all out in the grounds. Buck in SHIELD fatigues, with Lili. Steve in his blue stealth suit. Thor being all.....Asgardian. He puts out a hand to stay Steve, as if the big blond were another beast meant to guard and ward and reassure him, like Lili the Shepherd. But then....isn't he?

In that toneless voice, he says, simply, "l have mental programming in my head that makes me a puppet for an organization named HYDRA. They've used me as a weapon against my friends and allies for decades. Last winter, there was a sickness that made its victims fall into a coma, and then die. I caught it....and in order to save me, Steve made a deal with Loki. Favors owed. When I woke, I made a similar deal. For life, and to have the programming in my head neutralized. Loki didn't kill it, but he did....freeze it. We've paid off our favors and are free and clear - he wisely didn't make me do anything too far out of line for the favors. I still.....check in with him, now and again. He's made it clear it's better if i'm on his good side." The eyes dull, almost opaque.

Captain America has posed:
"'nd it's damn unfortunate that this continues to be held over Buck's head because it's crystal clear, to me, that we're both clear of those favors -- fair 'nd square," Steve almost growls. His jaw is set hard and his arms folded tightly.

By his reaction, the Captain doesn't agree with how his favors panned out.

Thor has posed:
This presents Thor with a problem. "...Well. I am fairly certain I could make Loki stop. If I did, he is likely to dispel whatever magics are helping you, which will take away the good being done. I do not know what it would be like for you without his magics, but it sounds like it would be rather bad." Pause. "...What would the pair of you think best? You could look for another spellcaster...I'd recommed Dr. Strange. But so long as my brother's spells endure, he's not likely to give up a pawn he can use."

Then, Thor is VERY Frustrated, even by Asgardian standards. "Sif says he's better, but then THIS happens. Why can he not show the same care for Midgard as he does for Asgard?" Perhaps even a god can have a headache. It certainly looks like he does.

Melinda May has posed:
Walking out onto the grounds, Acting Deputy Director Melinda May isn't by any means trying to be stealthy. She is, though, very much in the habit of walking quietly. Upon spotting the trio standing out here talking, she heads over and stops a polite distance away. "Gentlemen."

She makes a mental note of Bucky's flatness, Steve's tightly controlled animosity, and Thor's palpable frustration. "Let me guess. Loki."

Winter Soldier has posed:
A tight nod from Barnes confirms. "Yeah." Then, a beat, "Yes, ma'am," A flush of frustration, embarrassment. He raises his chin, eyes Thor. It might come off as arrogant, but there's none of it in his face. "That would be....very bad," he agrees. Understatement of the year. "I can't do that again. I'll talk to the Doctor....anything that'd bolster what's been done, keep the monster asleep....." He taps his temple, gently, as if even that might jar the sleeping presence awake.

Captain America has posed:
Steve simply nods curtly again at May before looking back to Thor.

"Doc Strange is an option. I'd be thinking a good way about it would be to set up scaffolding around what Loki's put in. That way, if he yanks the struts, it all doesn't collapse -- it's all there still, keeping things quiet."

He glances over at Bucky, lips still flattened.

Thor has posed:
Thor looks at the newcomer...between the reactions of Steve and Bucky, and the fact she guessed 'Loki' immediately, it would seem she is their confidence. Well, good enough for him. They didn't change the topic because she is here, which speaks volumes. "Very well. I will not confront him immediately. You must go to Doctor Strange first before I deal with Loki about this in particular. I do not want him to try to get the jump on this by pulling his magic away before Dr. Strange can set up his own spells."

Thor doesn't seem to take offense with anything going on, as he's too busy trying to set right what was done to these men in front of him...a good friend and that friend's best friend.

Melinda May has posed:
Ah. So they're discussing how to get Barnes completely out from under Loki's thumb. This is a topic she can get behind. "If I may, perhaps you should not confront Loki at all," she says to Thor. Let him keep believing that has leverage, and he could well be more amenable to assisting in various matters than if he thinks he nothing to gain from working with us." It would be a gamble, but really, she's only interested in seeing Bucky, and by extension Steve, out from under this rather major stressor.

"Because if I had my way, I'd put bamboo under his fingernails until he made he's done for Barnes truly permanent."

Winter Soldier has posed:
That's more passion than he's likely ever heard May express....and it makes Buck's eyes go wide. The dog apparently concurs - she sits right down on his boot toes, looks up, looks to Thor, looks to May, looks to Steve, and starts to grin a big doggy grin. Yeah, screw that guy, he makes my human smell like fear.

"That.....actually sounds like a good idea," Bucky says, slowly. "Have the Doctor do it......and do it stealthily enough that, if he can......it's not immediately evident that I don't have that sword hanging over my head again." He nods once, firmly.

Captain America has posed:
"The Doc's been pretty sneaky before. He's done some things I can't even begin to explain." Like those glittering oculuses to places even Steve hasn't seen in his artist's dreams. Another curt nod. His gaze shifts to Thor though, especially after hearing May's sentiments.

Thor has posed:
"Well struck. If my brother insists on playing games of what he considers to be just more mischief, than let us let him know that Midgard is not to be trifled with, for there are sorcerers here too. Dr. Strange wasn't happy with what happened to him either during the restoration." Indeed, as far as Thor can tell, none of them are happy.

"If you are both happy with this conclusion...than the matter is resolved, at least until Loki attempts to use this against you again. When he does...let me know. And I shall be there if I can." That would be ideal, to him. Catch him in the act.

Melinda May has posed:
At that, May nods. "Do you have a reliable way for us to contact you quickly?" It might be noteworthy that she's not asked Thor for his name, but then it's likely more than easy enough to discern who he is just based on the information provided here: affiliation with Loki, appearance, mannerisms, and weaponry.

"And if you want to speak with me," she offers, reaching into her jacket and producing a business card with only a phone number printed on it. "You can contact me here."

Winter Soldier has posed:
"Good. It's a plan, then," Buck says. And for all his attempts at deadpan, the furry barometer there gives him away by wagging her tail and grinning again.

Which he realizes, looking down into those big, brown eyes. "Steve," he complains. "She's ruining my pokerface. How'm I supposed to win the Friday game now with her telegraphing things?"

Captain America has posed:
"I dunno, Buck. Maybe leave the girl behind since it's all us gentleman anyways?" Steve smiles about the corners of his eyes and vaguely about his mouth. He hasn't unwound in his tense posturing just yet.

"We'll ping you if we run into him again," the Captain reassures Thor in regards to his brother. "No doubt it'll happen soon enough. We've got to talk to him about a stone anyways." Surely Steve's referencing the Tesseract.

Thor has posed:
"Yes. When I see him, that will be on my to do list. While there isn't anything in particular I need to do with it, I am going to try to retrieve it from him. It is has...done its work, so to speak, and need not be left in that particular pair of hands any longer."

But then they speak of something different. "Poke her face? Why would you need to...poke her face?" Is this some strange Midgardian custom? Evidently nobody invited Thor to play cards.

Melinda May has posed:
"Lili can stay with me for the evening if you want, Barnes. I can take her over to Chez Miscreant so she can pester the felines there." And no, May wouldn't offer dog-sitting services to just anyone.

At Thor's very apparent confusion, May actually has a bit of mercy. "It refers to a game of cards, where the players attempt to either make ideal combinations of cards, or attempt to lie about their cards convincingly enough that others believe they have an ideal combination."

Winter Soldier has posed:
"Nah," says Bucky, gently, looking down at the dog with enormous fondness. "She's my girl. I should walk her now, in fact. King Thor, ma'am, Steve....if you'll excuse me." And once farewells are made, he's turning away, the Shepherd keeping perfect heel.
