Date of Scene: 11 October 2019
Location: Lake Cowichan, Hub City
Synopsis: Wanda brings Lorna up to a lakeside cabin in Canada for a chat and a chance to relax.
Cast of Characters: Polaris, Scarlet Witch

Polaris has posed:
Lorna picked up the phone as it rang, her focused partly on the tablet in front of her and partly on the voice that was her sister's on the other end. "Huh? I mean.. as free as I'm going to be." She drawled, plucking up the tablet as she clicked it off and tucked it away to where it belonged. She got up from her spot on the bed, the mattress creaking beneath her as she got up and paced toward her closet.

"Cold weather? Okay.. sure. How cold are we talking about exactly? Cold, cold?" She felt her eyebrows furrow as she waved her hand this way and that, fishing out the colder climate coat, boots, and winter gear that she kept at the Mansion. After all, why would she need any of that in Genosha?

"Okay, yep. Okay. Yeah. See you soon." The green haired mutant hustled to get her clothes on, at least partly, and went to find a safe spot for a teleportation that wouldn't mess up anything in her master suite or gain unwelcome attention from the students.

She waited there, sent a text that she was ready and zipped up her coat, and pulled on her gloves as she waited for Wanda's teleportation to... where ever they were going.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
A swirl of scarlet-colored energy later, Lorna finds herself standing with Wanda on the back porch of a little cabin upon a lake. Though there are signs of a growing city on the other side of the water, the cabin itself is in a relatively undeveloped area. The pine trees are still green, while other trees are in various states of their leaves changing colors or being dropped already.

There are a few chairs on the back porch, and a nice porch swing with a padded cushion. Wanda is wearing a grey sweater with a high neck that emerges from the jacket she's wearing. It's rather cool, with temperatures above freezing, but not greatly so.

"I told you it was chilly," Wanda says with a warm laugh. Her cheeks are a little rosy as if she's been out in the cold for awhile. She'll move to embrace Lorna warmly. "I made some hot chocolate. With lots of extra marshmallows on the top like Pietro likes it, but don't tell him I shared that," she says, motioning to the cups sitting nearby with steam rising from them.

Wanda looks in better shape than the last time the sisters were together. There might be some small crows feet at the corners of her eyes still, but her hair doesn't look like it's gone days without washing anymore.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shivered at the cool chilly that swept through her jacket and in the crevasses of her jeans to boots. She burrowed deeper into her clothes, looking all the world like a grumpy child. As if the cold had personally insulted her fashion choices. Still, at the sight of Wanda, Lorna stepped forward eagerly, and embraced her older sister, holding the hug just a breath longer than usual as she leaned against Wanda's frame to seek comfort.

"You weren't kidding about the cold," She glanced around the area, but more so with her senses than with her eyes. She could //feel// her position on the Earth's surface through the magnetic fields. A rough guesstimate on where she was that wasn't bound by human maps or country boundaries. But she knew her sister, and she smiled as she nodded, partly distracted.
R "Hot chocolate sounds perfect, thanks Wanda." She murmured, "Is this where you've been holed up recently?"

Scarlet Witch has posed:
"Lake Cowichan, in the northwest of Canada," Wanda confirms. "Just for the last day or two. I felt like I needed to get my head in a better place before... with any luck we're going to end the threat that Sebastion poses to the world. And I need to be ready for it," Wanda says quietly.

She smiles and passes a cup with thick marshmallow froth atop it to Lorna. "We can go inside if it gets too cold, also. There's a nice fire going in there," she comments. "I'll need to be heading back before too long anyway. But rented the place for a couple of days," she says.

Wanda takes a seat on the porch swing. It's basically a hanging wooden park bench, with a back, and cushions, large enough for three easily. "How are things going for you?" Wanda asks her sister.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna accepted the hot chocolate, grasping it with both hands as she turned her green eyed gaze back to her older sister and flashed the woman a smile. "I figured I had the general area right." She murmured, taking a sip of the sweet drink as she blew on the steam that drifted upward. She moved to sit on the porch swing beside her sister and leaned back, tilting her head against the wooden back with a sigh.

"Emma Frost is making to use me somehow for her own ends. She's pushing me to become part of the Hellfire Club." She paused, glancing back at Wanda. "Did you know father was part of all that? He's apparently a King there too. There's this whole little inner conclave apparently, I had no idea about any of this.. She promised to help me make deals to help Genosha.. But so far she's just put me in a skimpy outfit while Dad gets to walk around in a suit. Apparently that's pretty standard," She growled.

"I plan to either walk out or wear my own damn suit. I'm not putting up with this dated bull." She muttered, shaking her head.

"I wish I had been more involved with the Sebastian and the Sentinels, I feel like I should.. But I just.. People in Genosha need me there so often, and I just feel duty bound to be there for them."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda says, "Well, I've stayed out of it for the most part, so far. Except for when they kidnapped Janet. T'Challa and I were the pair that broke into the facility while the rest staged a diversion. I was worried, both the fact I was a mutant might impact the Avengers ability to work with him, and that something could result with Father if I was, say, hurt somehow." Wanda shakes her head and takes a sip of her hot chocolate.

"But it seems likely he plans something more advanced than what they are now, so we need to deal with him," Wanda adds before shaking her head a second time, and then changing the topic back to what Lorna brought up. "The Hellfire Club? I've never been. Figures, about Father. Yes, definitely don't let them try to push you into some role that fits their narrative. I do not know Emma Frost well at all. Just that she has a checkered history. But apparently Charles trusts her enough to have her at the school?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna frowned into her hot chocolate, "I said that Sebastian would have to be dealt with months ago when he first arrived. After speaking with him for barely half an hour I figured that. He was dangerous not only to mutants but to humans and everyone else on this planet. Do I pity him? Of course I do, but I have to consider that he came from a future where either he willing agreed to become what he is, or people around him hated us so much that they didn't care. Both of which are troubling to say the least. Regardless, he made no attempts to hide his feelings and I felt him to be honest at least in that regard." She muttered, and sipped at her hot chocolate, shaking her head as she continued to lean her weight back in the swing chair.

The view from the porch was lovely, but it did little to raise Lorna's spirits. "Father locked the door against me when I was there and I tried to leave. I got ticked and he //locked// the door magnetically. I've never felt so helpless and.." Betrayed was the word, but Lorna didn't want to use it. She skipped over it, trying to avoid those feelings and how they hurt.

"Either way, I don't trust anything in that club. I was lied to from the get go by lies of omission on what it all entailed." She pursed her lips, and took another sip of her drink, enjoying the marshmallows on top.

"But yes, the Professor trusts her. Why I can't fathom." She shrugged once, and glanced back to Wanda again.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda frowns as well. "I was trusting to Steve and Jessica to at least decide whether there was any hope of turning him from, well, from what he wants to be. Though I doubted it would happen," she agrees.

Wanda takes a little sip of her hot chocolate. Out on the lake a father and son are canoeing, the kid barely able to reach the water with the paddle. So the father is doing most of the work, though from what little can be heard, encouraging his son and giving him a smile.

Wanda looks back over to Lorna thoughtfully. "Better to stay away? Or play along and find out what is going on?" she asks, and sounding as if she trusts her sister's judgment on it either way. Even though one path might put Lorna into danger potentially.

But if so, what would that say of those already involved there?

Polaris has posed:
Lorna pursed her lips together, but nodded as Wanda spoke of Steve and Jessica trying their hand at converting Sebastian away from who and what he was. "It's an admirable goal to try, I don't fault them too much for it. I only fault that it put everyone's lives at risk in allowing him to get used to the time, and his resources here. It'll be harder to take him out and get rid of him well and truly as a result." She bit back another sigh, her gaze falling to the father and son on the lake before them. She hung her head slightly.

"I currently mean to stay and see what their planning, or what Emma is planning and what father means to get out of all of it." She shrugged and took another long sip of her hot chocolate, now there were no more sweet bits of marshmallow goodness floating on the top.

"Though that might change depending on what Jamie tells me." She paused, looking back to Wanda. "Did I tell you that? I hired Jamie Madrox to investigate my mother's death in the plane crash. I realize it's twenty years past.. but I just.. I have too many questions Wanda."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda's expression will answer that she didn't know about hiring Jamie, though the look turns approving as Wanda gives a little nod. "I hope he's able to find something. He certainly seems capable," she says of the mutant PI of which she's heard good things.

"Good luck with it. If you need help, let me know and of course you'll have it. Including getting you out of locked rooms if need be," Wanda offers, reaching over to pat her sister's leg for a moment before looking back out at the lake.

"It's very calming here," she says. "I'm liking having the water near me like this. It's something we were going to do, get a place like this," Wanda says. Not mentioning further who 'he' is. Though she says it without any of the rushes of emotions that would have resulted the last time they spoke.

"Getting away was good," Wanda says in her typical, slow, gently accented English. "Maybe I will have to find a place of my own somewhere."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna glanced toward her sister, offering a small smile as Wanda patted her leg and spoke. "I know you would, I just hope it doesn't come to that. I'm hoping it was all just an accident, that something was in the original report that I don't have access to.. Like an engine failure that was a known issue or something. That maybe her husband was drunk or angry that she'd an affair. Something concrete." She glanced down at her hot chocolate.

"But I can't get over how convenient it was for father. That the married woman he'd had an affair with had died along with her husband.. and I survived. What if she broke things off with him and it went wrong? What if he was involved somehow? I just.. I love father, I really do. But I know he makes hard decisions all the time and thinks he's justified." She felt her shoulders slump and she shifted her weight to lean against Wanda's shoulder.

"I'd name you my heir along with Pietro if I ever actually ruled over Genosha in my own right, but if you don't want anything like that I get it. It's nice here. I like it. I see why you do too. It's calm." She murmured, glancing up at her sister beneath her eyelashes.

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda slides her arm about her sister's shoulders, and leans her head over to rest it against Lorna's. "He is a hard man," Wanda agrees quietly. She falls silent for a few moments then, as if the question about Genosha is one she hasn't given a lot of thought to before.

"If you'd want us to, we'd do what we could to help the people, the best we could," Wanda says. "I don't know that I have the skills and experience to rule a nation. Even a modest-sized one. But, that doesn't mean I couldn't work with those who do," she replies.

Wanda tightens her arm for a moment, turning it into more of a side-hug. "I will be going with a group to Jotunheim before long. If we are successful, we will have the final component for the spell for the school. I expect it may draw attention from other dimensional beings, for the way the spell anchors into reality. We'll need some skilled people to deal with anything that comes looking while the casting is underway. Can I count on you for it?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna pressed against Wanda's frame in a way that belied just how much worry the youngest sibling carried with her, how much weight had piled on her with keeping the secrets of her plots and plans to herself. She was typically a straightforward person, and all the intrigue, even against her own father, had drained on her. She happily allowed the arm wrapped about her, content to close her eyes and bury her senses in the magnetic fields, to sense the spark of life that marked Wanda as there and whole beside her. She exhaled a long, slow breath, decompressing as she did so.

"It's a long way down the road I hope. If I'm ruling, well.." It meant their father was dead or abdicated Genosha. And she wasn't willing to risk a Genosha without a clear line of succession. Her siblings were her first choice on that route.

The mention of the protection spell had Lorna nodding along with Wanda's words, "Of course I'll be there to help protect you, just tell me when you need me and I'll be there."

Scarlet Witch has posed:
Wanda smiles over to her sister, pressing a kiss atop her head and then just sits with her quietly after that. The two enjoying their hot chocolate and watching the smooth water of the lake, with occasional ripples when a canoe passes, or a duck flies in to land atop it.

The cool air is clean and clear, without any of the city smells of New York. Each breath is cleansing, and having the love of a family member there only makes it all the better. There's no rush to leave, the sisters just sitting and enjoying a few hours of peace and quiet.
