Fairground, Food n Fighting!
Date of Scene: 14 June 2017
Location: Upstate New York
Synopsis: At a fair, Tigra meets Tachyon and Jade. Brief trouble follows.
Cast of Characters: Tachyon, Jade, Tigra

Tachyon has posed:
It's fair time! A small staple of northern New York state, this particular fair opens up late spring and closes just after the harvest festivals. It's far enough away from the big cities that the commute is a little inconvenient but it's still a popular spot for those who make a day's trip of it. Also, thankfully, there's nothing to attract the super villainous, the bigger crowds are always in the city.
It's a beautifully balmy day and the crowds are taking advantage of it. The cotton candy vendors are on site, hawking wares, the midway barkers are trying to entice people towards pellet shooters and balloons or baskeballs and my oh my does all the fried food smell delicious.
That's the focus for the moment, at least for one speedster. A blurred line traces through a packed parking lot, past a series of black semi-trailers. It zips down past rides and attractions and stops short abruptly at the end of the line for funnel cakes. Oh hells yeah, funnel cakes.
Finally paused it's easier (possible) to see Tachyon's form clearly. The tall scientist is certainly in her relaxed and out and about clothing. A pair of cut off jean shorts and a white tee-shirt. Oversized pink sun glasses and a white mesh jacket with cotton hood. Perhaps most strikingly (besides the super sciencey looking sunglasses) is her hair, shaved close on the sides while the middle has been left unshorn, though dyed a vibrant pink falling to her shoulders.

Jade has posed:
The green skinned Jade is presently surrounded by a group of young men, near that same funnel cake stand that she'd likely been heading to herself. At least, she had been walking in the direction when they'd come up on her, and asked her for her autograph. She signs the first, happily enough, and then is onto the second when the first guy asks, "What? Whose Jade?"
"Huh?" Asks the guy who is getting his autograph back.
"Me," says the girl. Then, with a resigned sort of patient half-hearted amusement, she guesses, "Let me guess. You thought I was She-Hulk? Sorry, boys. There's more than one green girl on this earth. And even, in this city. I'm Jade."
The two other guys, perhaps feeling sheepish, and not wanting to insult, get their autographs too and they all trudge off afterwards, clearly trying to figure out what Superhero Jade is, or what she does. One is already accessing his phone to look her up.
Shaking her head and brushing her dark green hair back, Jade moves into the same line as Tachyon.

Tigra has posed:
Where else but at the carnival can a person see the famous tiger-woman, that awesome mixture of man and beast?

When you're Tigra, the answer is 'Everywhere.'

She's driven out of town for a visit. There's just something about the variety of fair food that's impossible to skip, and it's not just the chocolate-covered bacon or the deep-fried Twinkies. It's the different types of BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, Mexican food, Greek food, and so on. One could empty out their checking account with all there is to sample, not to mention all the games and booths full of ultimately useless (in most cases) trinkets.

Right now she's two-handing it, a big bacon cheeseburger in her right hand, a lamb gyro in the left, alternating bites as she goes. If the tail's swaying is a sign, she's having a good time.

Tachyon has posed:
The disappointed fanboys who had been mobbing Jade take a moment to stand and take a photo while hanging onto a big clanking robot as it wanders past. The massive automaton looks straight out of a 1950s sci fi film and must be part of a promotion, dozens seem to be wandering around the fairgrounds, occassionally pausing for pictures or to calculate a new turn.
"Oh sweet!" The exclamation originates from the pink hair particle physicist in front of Jade in line. She turns around and spends more than a few seconds looking over Jade. (In actuality the time allows her to scan the girl and download the declassified portions of her S.H.I.E.L.D. file.) "Kick ass outfit, are you here on business or just killing time?" The speedster grins and steps up to the counter, half glancing back at Jade to maintain the conversation. She's famous but not super famous herself, so it may simply come across as fangirl smalltalk.
"Yeah, I'll take two one with Bavarian cream and one with strawberry goo and actually, you know what make it three and give me the other one with just powdered sugar," Tachyon's eyes wander as she places her order until the finally land on an especially delicious little morsel not very far off. As her money hits the counter she utters, "Berightback," or at least she probably did because she's gone before the sound really registers.
Suddenly standing in front of Tigra she's almost openly salivating as she stares. Leaning closer she oggles the delight for a moment before asking impetuously, "They have gyros here?!" The a flash and she's gone. Then a trio of funnel cakes are on a nearby picnic table as she appears besides Tigra again, "Where?!" Again a flash and she's gone, appearing next to Jade again to idly add, "I'm sitting over there with her, if you want to chat," another zoom and she's back at the table, sipping a jumbo sized soda. (Where did that come from?) Looking again at Tigra she smiles, "How's it going? I'm Meredith!" Wait, is one of the funnel cakes already half finished?

Jade has posed:
Jade has not been around too many speedsters in her life. Thus, she's not used to their overtly flightly attutides and mannerisms. She's only able to respond to Tachyon, "Just thought I'd stop by and check it out. I haven't been to a fair in awhile, and was on my way home from a quick sweep through Mars," she answers, cheerfully enough.
After Tachyon orders and gets All The Things, she gets one, count it, one, funnel cake for herself and she eventually heads over towards where Tachoyon - and thus Tigra, both are. She has a smile on her face, as she observes Tigra, having not met her, but heard of her before.
"Hello," she offers both Tachyon, and Tigra. "Mind if I join you?" She at least has the courtesy to ask.

Tigra has posed:
Tigra's not yet to the point of reaching the funnel cake area, but as quickly as Tachyon is able to get around, it's not long at all before she's been noticed by the woman who zips over and starts going on about gyros, gone before the feline can even open and close her mouth to say, "Over that way."

It's no use.

Then again, maybe it is, for she's just beginning to point by the time the funnel cakes are placed on the table and..she just shakes her head. "Speedsters," she mutters between bites from the gyro and burger. She's fast, but she's nowhere near Speedster fast.

"Tigra," she finally adds, taking in the sight of Jade as well, who perhaps read something from her time in the Chicago area. "We weren't exactly together," she points out.

Then she's eyeing one of the robotic-looking things as it shambles past. "Anyone know what the deal is with those things?"

Tachyon has posed:
Meredith happily digs into her funnel cakes and looks over at the two, considering them both as she eats and slurps on soda. "Oh yeah," she gestures towards Tigra, or maybe Tigra's tail with her soda as she enjoys her snackage. "She just had some amazing looking food and a really neat fur pattern so I had to like ask her what was going on with that gyro! Not together, just wanted to see what was up!" She noms more on her fried dough as she glances over at Tigra again and grins at the destroyed sammiches.
Another clanking mechanical monstronsity makes its way past with zappy ray gun sound effects occasionally emitting in between the hisses of hydraulics and the bang of metal on metal. "Yeah, not really sure what's up with them. Someone did a killer job on the power sources though if they've been moving around like that for a while." She idly flicks up her glasses to look them over again before glancing back at her two dragooned dining partners. A double take at Jade as she adds, "Whoa, I knew you were green, but damn." Dropping the shades back in place she simply grins and thumbs up. After all, one should congratulate others on an excellent complexion, yes?

Jade has posed:
Amused at Meredith's reaction, she holds a hand out to Tigra, "Jade," she offers, warmly enough. "Really pleased to meet you. I have to admit, I'm kind of jealous I didn't get stripes," she says on the end of Meredith's comment about her green-ness, asiding thoughtfully, "It'd be pretty hard to get much more green," she agrees. "But, I like it. Thanks."
Then, she, too, glances up towards the giant constructs, "I think it was supposed to be the theme this year. Throwback to the 1950's or something. Most went with a science fiction theme, and some sponsor brought these robots in. At least, that's what I was told when I dropped in to check things out by one of the ticket-sellers."

Tigra has posed:
Tigra holds up the few bites that are left of the gyro when Meredith draws attention to it. "S'good," she confirms, the tail flicking a few times as if aware it was being glanced at. "And I'm not complaining about the stripes," she adds to Jade, looking the woman over in her Lantern costume. "Do you always go around 'dressed up?'" the tigress wonders.

While she hasn't sat down yet, she's sticking around nearby as she considers both women and the robots themselves. "I have to say, it's pretty realistic stuff. I know there have been a lot of advances in those things, but still."

Tachyon has posed:
"Well, whoever owns them has some serious ka-ching for those robos. I guess we just got lucky." Tachyon shrugs and glances around, "Anyone want a Gyro or a corn dog?" Her plates are already empty, damnit speedsters. She yawns and slides a hand back through her hair and... pink falls in front of her eyes. Squinting she pulls up her glasses and pats her head, then pulls all the hair forward in front of her eyes. It's almost possible to see the gears moving as she counts back in her day, trying to pinpoint something. Finally she stops the headbobbing the recall entailed and ohs, then sighs. "Sure, why not?" A small smile and she glances at the two again.
Several buildings down there's a shrill scream. A child's scream. A young girl is standing in front of one of the robots with a spilled slurpee squished under a mechanical foot. Oh my goodness, she will not shut up. Is she a mutant? Someone should not have that much lung capacity at that age. Even the robot's little radar ears have started spinning the other way.

Jade has posed:
Jade has just finished stuffing the funnel cake in her mouth, and answering Tigra with, "Only when I'm coming off patrol," she says, cheerfully. At least, until the scream comes out.
Instantly, she goes into action. Green fire suddenly covers her entire body, from head to toe. The flames produce no heat, but roil off her flesh as if they were using her body for kindling, and she turns to see ... the parents leading the child away from the crushed slurpee.
Her green features darken, turning darker. Is that how people with green skin blush with embarassement? Quite possibly. She exhales, and the flames dwindle back into nothingness. "Usually that sound means something entirely different," she maintains, sheepishly.
She coughs, and looks over at Tigra. "What brings you all the way out here?"

Tigra has posed:
"I'm good," Tigra says, licking her fingers - and the backs of her hands - once she's finished chowing down. "But I might have some room left for des..what?" She grimaces from the screaming, more impactful with her ears as sensitive as they are, and she's suddenly standing on top of the table to get a little higher in order to see where the commotion is coming from.

Nothing /seems/ all that bad to her, but Jade is already on the road to being a savior, only for the crisis to end before it even began.

"You totally had it under control," she points out ever so helpfully after the demonstration. "Kids tend to do that, yeah. And I just like fairs."

Tachyon has posed:
Tachyon ooohs and ahs at the green fire show. She watches with intense interest until... well, nothing much. The girl grins as Tigra makes sure she's properly groomed. Her mind almost wandering as she adds, "Well there might be a Dip'N'Dots stand around here somewhere..." Nodding back at Jade she adds apologetically, "Almost wish something had happened, just so I could see stuff." The girl lifts her glasses again so she can offer up a wink.
Several buildings down the robot is still standing in place. The poor little antenna cups rotating backwards still as it tries to process. Then there's a little sproing and one starts rotating in the other direction again, as its lightbulb eyes suddenly glow an intense red. 'DESTROY ALL HUMANS' it intones. The passersby stop and hey as it clumsily lurches forward, snapping photos before ducking and trying to get out of the way. Turning towards a hot dog stand it advances and again intones 'DESTROY ALL HUMANS' before swipping a massive mechanical claw at the side of the structure, cheap sheet metal crumpling under its attack. As the entire side of the cheap stand falls away those inside scream as the robot shifts attention towards the nearby electrical pole.

Jade has posed:
This time Jade does not seem to 'fall for it', having already embarassed herself over one blood curdling scream. But, she's still going to look. Because she's a hero. And, because it's human nature. This time, something does seem the matter. And she can read the terrified faces of the people - at worst, the robot is doing some scripted action before it's scheduled time, or at the wrong place. At worst? Well. She doesn't want to think of that. Either way, it needs to be stopped before something more serious happens.
Again, the roll of flame of green, like that of her skin boiling across the expanse of her flesh, and her suit again. This time she alights into the air, saying to Meredith, "Be careful what you wish for."
She's immediately flying over towards the source of the destruction, assessing first the safety of the people vs. the actions of the robot.

Tigra has posed:
And now something /is/ happening that requires heroic intervention. "Guess this was too good to be true," Tigra comments dryly to Meredith first, since Jade's launching into action again and this time it's for good reason.

Without an extra word, the cat-woman follows at a swift pace, vaulting off the table into a run. "I'll cover the people!" she calls out. Jade looks like a pretty heavy hitter, so she gets first crack. It's the women and children - and, okay, men if they need it - she's going to help keep back.

Tachyon has posed:
"But... dip'n'dots!" Meredith only looks vaguely disappointed as she watches the two work. Then she starts to pitch in too, might as well. In a few seconds blurs start appearing around the area as trash cans, benches, various other large blocking thingies are placed as intersections and along the pathways, trying to keep people from approaching too closley.
For all its determination, the robot is slow! It approaches the electrical pole and slams against it. Wood splinters and the pole shudders as the robot intones again, "DESTROY ALL HUMANS!"

Jade has posed:
A blast of green light of energy shoots out from Jade's hand, slamming hard into the upturned arm of the giant robot, "Clear the area behind it," she calls to the two heroes, the orange-blur of female fur, and the far more blurry blury of the speedster, "It's coming down."
But, she begins to stagger it with a few more well placed blasts from her hand.
Then, a gigantic construct, a green hammer that would make Mljolinr look like a tiny dolls toy in size comparistion appears, tethered to a small green wisp of light extending from Jade's outstreched hand. It's time to drop the hammer.
She waits, watches, until the area is clear and then the hammer swings from behind the robot at first, to cut its legs from underneath it. And then on the upswing, it is coming back down to obliterate the robots face.

Tigra has posed:
"On it." Tigra's not going to be as fast as Meredith, taking the much more conventional approach of simply herding people out of the way, grabbing a kit where necessary, making sure there won't be anyone underfoot when the robot comes tumbling down. "All right! Do your thing, whatever it is!"

Tachyon has posed:
Thankfully big robots aren't gargantuan city stompers. With some blurs and more than a little help from Tigra, Meredith makes sure the area around the towering homage to scifi is clear. Most people have gotten out of the way on their own, but more than a few fair goers are simply too self absorbed or confident to live on their own, that's why there are super heroes! Once clear, Tachyon is standing to the sides in her shiny super suit and gives Jade a big thumbs up to drop the hammer. Once the hideous crunches and the rest of the drama is over the crowd cheers and waves. Turning towards Tigra she simply asks, "Now can we get ice cream? I'm sure someone will pick this up!"

Jade has posed:
Jade floats down, "I'm going to check on the rest of these robots, and see if I can't find out more about this one. Keep an eye out. Thanks for the assist," she replies, nodding both to Tigra, and Meredith. "Looks like my patrol isn't quite over, just yet, like I thought it was." She gives a friendly wave, before rocketing towards the next robot to make sure it's not acting oddly, and disappearing further into the distance as she moves into another place in the fairgrounds.

Tigra has posed:
Standing by until things are over with this one, Tigra eyes what's left before turning toward Meredith. "Sorry. Much as I'd like to, this may not be over yet. I'm going to watch out for the others, in case anyone ends up in trouble. Nice to meet you, and I hate to run - yes, pun intended - but there will be time for ice cream afterward." She ends up mostly shadowing Jade while the woman makes her rounds, which takes some time before things are declared safe again. Minor crisis averted.

Tachyon has posed:
Well Tachyon is left in the grumps. Nothing to do except get ice cream. Ten seconds later after that's done she sits atop the shattered remains of the robot and considers things. Frequency scanning indicates that the owners are trying to decide if they have to do an emergency shut down of the fair, local authorities were responding and already national agencies were sending out agents. She flagged her S.H.I.E.L.D. contract and negotiated her fee as she ate her vanilla choco delight. After it was done she yawned and adjusted her goggles. Might as well dive into the thing. Main processor is probably in the torso. Only weirdies and anthrofetishists placed robot brains in the head, far too exposed there. Time to do some work.
