Date of Scene: 14 October 2019
Location: Lobby, Hall of Justice
Synopsis: Thor and Diana discuss the latest turn of events within the Justice League and some of its mightiest members.
Cast of Characters: Thor, Wonder Woman

Thor has posed:
Thor had seen relatively few Midgardian funerals and mourning. At least not in recent memory. But the outpouring for the great Sun Warrior Superman...well, that was a truly magnificent display, for a magnificent hero. He can't toss a hammer without hitting a lit candle, a wreath with his picture, notes left behind by the grateful people he'd saved. There were even people singing, as their faith in something that clearly wasn't Asgard moved them.

Thor, too, had his own sense of gratitude to display...but he needed to do something more concrete than leaving things behind. So, he looked for someone managing the proceedings, preferably one of the League if he can find them. He only pauses a moment to tell a grieving soul that, "No, he's not in Valhalla..." Which should make sense to most, Superman wasn't known to be Norse.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana is in attendance in an official and unofficial capacity. She has been here since the vent started and she's been dressed in black since it started. A black cloak and hood up over her head with her hair loose and framing her face on either sides. She stands amongst everyone, speaking to those who approach her while flanked by members of her Amazonian sisterhood who are dressed similarly to that of the Princess.

She's helped others light candles, she's helped by speaking to anyone who needed counsel from her. When Thor's voice is heard, Diana's brown rise up to look upon him from beneath the black hood that is casting deep shadows across her head. She nods softly to him once and when they meet up she'll offer him a somber "Hello." and "Thank you for coming." She'll reach her left hand out and place it upon his shoulder as they've known each other for some time.

Thor has posed:
Thor, upon seeing Diana, has found who he's looking for. "Your highness." Because, well, he is still a king, and she's still a princess, on top of everything else they are to their teams and the world. Thor...must ponder how to say this. "I am sorry for your loss. He was both a great warrior and a great friend." While it's technically a loss for him and the other Avengers too, he knows Diana must surely be suffering more.

He, in turn, puts a hand on her shoulder, in a mirror of her own action. It is a gesture of respect, among other things, from one Warrior to another. In his realm, they would normally light a boat on fire in a lake for the funeral...they did such for her Majesty Frigga when she died. But this is a very different realm.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana's hand drops back down to her side and disappears back within her black cloak. At Thor's words she offers hi a soft and warm smile that lasts only a matter of moments before it fades again and she looks away to one of the many displays honoring Superman. "He was the hero that we all aspire to be." She responds to the Asgardian King then and after a moment she pulls her eyes from the display and places it back upon the son of Odin.

"It is good to see you." She tells him quietly, voice soft considering the venue all around them. "I... heard of Loki's goals, and what they have accomplished...." She'd fought against Loki taking over the Sanctum Santorum, she'd tried to stop him.

"How are..." She pauses then and stops that approach to the topic. "Are you well?" She then asks of him.

Thor has posed:
"My brother has been doing many things. It has taken me some time to discern all Loki has done...and he is going to have a long conversation with me as soon as his ability to evade my presence fails." Yes, Sif spoke well of him. But she's the only one who has done so at this juncture. Nonetheless, he has much to discuss.

"I always find it surprising who is Worthy. Had he ever tried...he surely would've been worthy himself." That's among the highest compliments he can bestow.

"In this time of mourning, no one is truly well. However...the people of Asgard are mostly doing well, and my allies here on Midgard are recovering from their great battle with Bastion. Struck down, he will trouble the world no more." Bastion, that is.

He pauses, then adds, "He was there for me, when our ship was about to crash. You all were. If it is possible...I would pay the debt Asgard owes. I would aid in protecting his city, for so long as it is necessary." He's not getting any older.

Wonder Woman has posed:
"He was worthy of a great many things." Diana says in response, and her eyes glance across a pair of patrons visiting the vigil tonight. "But I believe all he really wanted was for his home, Earth, to be at peace and as many of it's people as possible to be as happy as possible." Her stare sweeps back to Thor and she offers a momentary smile.

"I am very glad that your people have their home returned to them, though I wish Loki had worked with us to accomplish it, rather than against us..." These words are said with a quiet but heavy burden. "I cannot say how truly elated that makes me feel for them. But, I am also glad they found refuge here on Earth and we were able to help, even if just a little..."

Diana looks away again then and nods her head softly once inside her hood. "He... Superman, was there for all of us in his best moments, the true moments, where he shined as his honest self. He would be humbled to know you are here to offer condolences." She states then, glancing back to the Asgard King.

Thor has posed:
"...That sort of selflessness...it is rare, as you well know. Rarer still in those with such power as he had. Too many with such strength lose themselves to selfishness. Even I was arrogant not so long ago. But he remained humble his whole life. I may never be truly able to express the sort of example he gave the world."

"My brother...he'd benefit from that lasso of yours, I think. He has been lost so long in deception he has forgotten how trust. Looking for lies, he finds them in people around him who offer him none." It is a sad state of affairs. He wishes it were otherwise.

"...I know he would've done as much, had that battle taken place out of Jormungandr." Pause..."Still, I would aid in the defense of his city. Ne'er do wells are trying to take advantage of his abscence. His people need hope...whether from me or another doesn't matter. But hope must endure."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana is wearing her armor beneath her black robe, that much is evident from her golden tiara visibly glinting the ambient light around them as she looks this way and that, as well as her forearm having been encased in the bracer when she'd placed her hand upon his shoulder moments ago. It is a sign of her own respect toward Kal-El, to wear her honored Eagle Armor during the mourning process for Superman...

Nevermind her worry for Batman, wherever he is right now.

"I very much intended to ensnare your brother within my lasso's telling grasp..." Diana then says as her eyes go back to Thor's own. "Sadly I never got the opportunity to do so, as he had used guilt to employ the services of Captain Rogers to see to it that I was unable--or delayed long enough--to get to him."

Diana looks back to an elderly woman who approaches her for a moment to accept a hand from the Princess just to share a small moment before she passes on. Once the woman has passed on, Diana returns her gaze over to Thor. "You are still actively aiding the Avengers, yes?" She asks. "We will need them more than ever, with the current state... that the League now finds itself, I am afraid to say."

Thor has posed:
"...I have not heard tell of the Warrior of Bats. Does he still live? After...the battle with Superman, I cannot tell what became of him." That's not exactly a wonderful topic under the circumstances, but if he is also down for the count, as it were, than the Avengers will not catch their breath for long after Bastion. They will have to come in as a group to cover what is missing.

"Yes. Our whole team is preparing to pick up the slack for the loss all over. Though the teams bear different names...in the end, we are all one team, protecting Midgard from those who threaten it." Solidarity! "We shall support you for as long as it is necessary."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana seems a bit stricken by the question regarding Batman's well-being. So much so that when it is inquired of her she raises her right hand up out from beneath her black cloak to stroke some of her equally dark out off of her face where it had streaked its way across her nose and cheeks. She then uses her hand to grasp Thor's wrist lightly to pull him out of the crowd and to the perimeter of the gathering to more easily answer his question.

Once they're there, she looks over to him. "Batman is... badly injured. He may not survive." She says then, now that they both share a more private location away from other's ears who are suffering enough from the loss of Superman, even if Batman is held in much different regard by the general public.

"In fact, if the Avengers are not aware of it, I need you to let them know." She states, a bit of dramatic seriousness upon her voice and her gaze as she looks to the Asgard King. "I fear for Gotham and those loyal to Batman's cause. It is a city that could soon come to fall into even greater turmoil if a power vacuum were to form in the absence of that city's hero."

Thor has posed:
"I'm sorry." Pause. "As far as I know, we were not informed of the status of the Warrior of Bats. But if he lives, there are options. The Xmen have those among them who can heal wounds. As for me...there are healing tonics in Asgard as well. I will see to it one such tonic is made." If it is that serious...he'll have medicine...basically, Apple Juice, but made with the Golden Apples of Idunn...that can be granted to him while he heals. It can have suprising effect.

"The Avengers and Justice League, and likely the XMen as well, shall have to properly coordinate hence forward. Communications shall have to be set up between the groups, so that we may make sure there is somebody always tasked with guarding the cities in need." He isn't the best one to set that up, but..."Stark can set it up, most certainly."

Wonder Woman has posed:
At the talk of Batman's well being and general status, Diana glances back to the candles that have been laid out and lit for the honor and memory of Superman. It takes her a moment before she motions toward them with her right hand that soon falls back into her cloak and beneath the black fabric of it.

"Batman is not one for events such as this." She says then, softly yet still. "He would rather his memory be used as fuel to either put fear into his foes, or... inspire people to fight for the same fight that he believed in." She looks back to Thor then. "But he is not gone yet. At least not as of my latest information update with regard to his condition... If you can contact them and help them, his family that is, they may be very well open to it."

The Princess seems to be working hard to keep herself together, to stay strong in the names of her fallen friends, the turmoil of her League weighs heavily upon her as the hopes of what it could accomplish in the world are of tremendous importance to her. "I have worked very hard for the past several years to increase the communication between our groups. It is... sadly challenging. But, yes, we should never stop trying to do just that." She looks to him, offers a faint smile. "It is only a positive gain."

Thor has posed:
"Very well...when the medicine is made, can you get it to the warrior of Bats...err, Batman as you call him, or must I find one of the brave warriors who works under his leadership?" The Warrior of Bats is known for rather decent sized protege group, after all. "A living warrior is all I need for my sort of tonic to work."

"...Is is regrettable, your Highness, but it is often times tragedy that breaks through barriers that once existed. People who were intent on not sharing information suddenly see the value of doing so. People too worried about protecting their own realize they are all part of a larger team, and a larger goal." Pause. "...That, and I believe he would've wished it so." He being Superman.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana shows a small smile to the question of the healing drink. "In the spirit of communication, perhaps it would be best if you did deliver it to them. It could help open new lines of communication." She suggests. "Once you have it, I could suggest you where to go to make the delivery. Where you could go to find members of his family to offer the aid. Many of them would likely be thrilled to meet you, in fact."

Her left hand comes up to touch his shoulder again and she smiles softly to him. "If you are up for that, of course. If not, you can simply bring it to me and I to them of course."

A small group of mourners approach Diana and seek her attention, she spares them a brief moment before she looks back to Thor then. "I should tend to the rest of the event. It is good to see you again, I would like to speak again soon." She'll have to separate and rejoin those in attendance then.

Thor has posed:
Thor takes the directions. "Understood, I will get it to them as soon as I can. And you're quite right. I have not spent much time with the warrior of Bats and his kin. I should move to repair that." He bows a little, "Your Highness, when next we meet, may it be under more favorable conditions." Which...is kind of a low bar, being as this a funeral for a truly great man.

And then Thor says, "Heimdall, I must needs return." There's a flash of light, with a rainbow in the middle, and away he goes.
