Batman has posed:
It has been a trying time at Wayne Manor. Especially so for Misfit, who has only been recently inducted to the Family only to find herself drugged and, upon awakening, learning that Batman had been left in a critical condition. On top of all that, everyone else seemed to have some appointed duty they needed to get done as soon as possible. It left little time for training, little time for anything else at all. Despite a comatose Bruce being hooked up to machinery there, the Batcave seemed extraordinarily quiet and sullen.

But Charlie had been given a parcel from Bruce. One that contained a letter and a flashdrive that, upon a cursory inspection, would only work with the Batcomputer in the Batcave. The Batcave itself is empty for the moment, the only other people down here being Doctor Thompkins who is currently in the infirmary tending to an unconscious Bruce.

Misfit has posed:
Charlie has had a trying almost year and honestly she had just started to think that things were picking up for the better.

She got picked up by the Bat Family, given a home and the former Batgirl acting like her mom. Which is pretty cool if pretty weird at the same time.

Got to meet THE BATMAN of all people and even got told who he actually was which was pretty sweet.

Then yeah everything has gone into chaos and hell mode. Batman wounded. Babs acting like Batman and moving them into Wayne Manor. No one to train with or talk to as everyone is scrambling.

I mean yes she absolutely has been doing the training routines that Babs assigned her before this all happened but there hasn't been any patrols with Oracle overwatch in the chaos.

So once everyone clears out of the cave to do their stuff ... there is a flash of smoke.. pink and purple.. by the Batcompure as Charlie appears with the flash drive in her hand and looks for a port to connect it to. "There we go.." pop goes the flashdrive and she eyes the port then the monitors to see if there is something automatic or if she needs to browse to find an executable.

Batman has posed:
As the flashdrive is fitted into place, the Batcomputer's screens go dark for a moment. Whatever process they are running is stopped and replaced with a video image of Bruce. It must have been made shortly before his fight with Superman, as he has the greying hair and sunken eyes that were so noticeable in the days leading up to the battle.

"Charlie," the recording says, "I figured you'd get curious about the drive I left you. What's more, I imagine you're feeling a little forgotten in the midst of everything that's happening right now. I don't know exactly what may have happened to me, but if you're receiving this then I'm not able to be Batman anymore - be that permanently, or only for the time being. Either way, that means it's time for you to step up."

Suddenly, the staircase leading up to the armory begins to light up - each step, one at a time, towards the top. Then they all switch off before repeating the process once more. As though encouraging her to follow them.

Misfit has posed:
"What no... sorry Charlie for dosing you and leaving you to drool in bed while you fought Superman alone?..." she actually sounds a little frustrated by that, though honestly in Charlie terms that may be the most upset she has sounded as far as anyone in these parts have heard.

She does turn when the armory staircase lights up though and looks very curious. I mean she is a bit better than an ADHD squirrel but not a ton better. Her minor moment of pique forgotten as she teleports to the foot of the armory steps and then starts to head up them skipping a step or two as she follows breadcrumbs. Well lights.

Batman has posed:
The lights lead to the armory, illuminating as she steps on them and going dark as soon as she steps off. When she reaches the top, the interior lights of the armory turn on with an industrial thud. The running lights themselves flash, leading a trail to a seemingly innocuous steel drawer built into one of the walls.

"The task that Barbara has ahead of her is a difficult one," Bruce's disembodied voice explains, pumped through the speakers somewhere in the armory, "One that she'll try to do alone, but can't. This was never a burden anyone could bear alone. She's going to need help."

As if on cue, the drawer hisses and juts a few inches out of the wall - the handle there to be pulled the rest of the way.

Misfit has posed:
"You mean she is going to stress out and try to work herself to death being as good as you were and probably start being all secretive and mysterous too... that sounds about right." there is a sigh of worry from Charlie there.

"I mean of course we are all going to help her.. thankfully I don't think she is going to lock any of us in the batcave or drug me... I mean.. gosh I hope not." more worry there.

Still Charlie is dying of curiousity so she steps over and gives the drawer a solid pull expecting it to be a bit heavy as she opens it to see what Batman left her.

Batman has posed:
As Charlie pulls out the drawer, she can see it all arrayed in fitted grey foam rubber. A version of her homemade costume, although done in a slightly more paramilitary style. An armored tunic, mask fitted with all the heads-up display and vision enhancements of the batsuit's cowl, an array of gadgets all themed around Misfit's 'M' logo. It's all there. Neatly packed into the drawer.

"This isn't telling you that you're ready," Bruce's recorded voice continues, "You have a lot of training to do. Both with Barbara, and the others. But if you're going to be out there, you need to be prepared. There might come a time when you don't need bulletproof clothing and night vision, but until then this is yours."

Misfit has posed:
Well the bats in the cave definitely heard the squeek.

I mean if there was a batdog he would have heard it. The stolen dog upstairs might have heard it.

Thankfully Goliath is out with Damian right.

"Holy moley..." she whispers after squeeking a couple of times, reaching to pull the parts of the uniform out "It is like.. Christmas...." looking over the differences here, goggles not a domino mask, turning them over in her hand, then pulling out the jacket that almost looks like leather but it is very different material. "Crackers.. I hope this comes with instructions.." cape with snap away pulls so can't be ussed against her. Boots for stomping. "When did he measure me..." she mutters.

Then the crown jewels, a utility belt. A real one. She pulls it up and looks it over there. "Ooh man...."

Batman has posed:
"No bike yet," Bruce's voice continues, "Not that you need it. But as your training continues, you'll be given more to help you reach your potential."

As Charlie looks over the gathered gear, the recording slowly comes to a finish.

"I'm sorry that I did what I did, Charlie," he says suddenly, "I hope you'll understand it. If not now, then eventually - and I hope you'll take care of Barbara. As much as you may not think it, she will need you."

And then there is silence, leaving only Charlie and her collection of new equipment.

Misfit has posed:
Charlie looks a bit sheepish and sad for being peevish earlier now. "I'll take care of her... I mena as much as she lts me get away with. She really is going to burn out at this I think or get hurt if she isn't careful." there is a sigh.

"Big cowl to fill Batman... and you are going to get better.. I mean heck.. you are Batman..."

She knows she is talking to herself but ... the recording and the whole mood of everything it just was easy to fall into.

She pops open a pouch and palms out a small sphere ".. oo knockout gas... I wonder if he would be mad if I dose him when he gets better and isn't expecting it..." then it is back into the belt pouch and she gathers up all the gear to carry down to a work table and get a better look at it.
