Finding a spot.
Date of Scene: 14 October 2019
Location: North Hempstead, Nassau County
Synopsis: Chun-Li and Raven go to a park for silence and neither finds it.
Cast of Characters: Chun-Li, Raven

Chun-Li has posed:
A deep breath flows into Chun-Li's nose and fills her lungs before slowly releasing from her mouth. The smell, feel, and look of this park was perfect. A smaller area, not hard to reach and best of all, quiet. She looks out over the water toward the odd shaped tower of the Titans nearby before shaking her head. She never understood such things but it isn't her problem. Her hands reach down toward her left foot, stretching down before switching over to her right leg. Then she stretches toward the sky before finally putting her feet and hands together.

Slowly she begins to step out, her movements slow, like a stalking cat. Her movements are like some form of combat in slow motion. Her muscles tensed up with each movement, not tight but tense. Tightening ever so slightly more at each pause before releasing back to that languid tensity that is involved in each of the fluid movements she makes.

The afternoon sun slowly gives way to the evening light as her shadow begins to stretch out even as she moves.

Raven has posed:
Raven has... Friend Troubles. Some time ago, the roof of the tower was a muted place, where few dared to tread because there was very little -there-. However, as it became more popular for flying Titans to arrive on the roof- and as the Titans grew more populous in general- facilities began to emerge... Which means that the quiet of the roof is no longer preserved.

This means she's had to branch out. She could perhaps stay closer- the island of the tower is serene in its own right, but on days where it's more chaotic at the tower, the odd explosion- both literal and metaphorical- makes meditation more difficult, sometimes, than she feels it needs to be.

That is why, today, she has departed the small island and made her way into a park in -view- of the tower, if not adjacent to it. She can see home, and if the tower is under attack, she can respond quickly. It feels safe. In the shade of a small copse of trees, a portion of the park that is dark even in daylight, there floats a woman. Her boots are off to the side, and draped over them is a folded sweater, bearing this elegantly inlaid motif of birds. Raven herself wears something almost trademark of the superheroic crowd: a skintight suit of sorts that stretches upwards, from around the arch of her foot, to a high collared neck, that clings to her as is the style: Like paint, rather than fabric. It has no sleeves, but she wears these fingerless, ballroom gloves that reach her mid-bicep.

She looks serene, cross legged, two feet above the ground, hovering there. Whether she has noticed another person in the park or not is not apparent, but it would be a good assumption to make that she -isn't- as psychic as she is, and hasn't. Clearly, nothing has disturbed her meditation.

Chun-Li has posed:
Each movement is absolutely slow, careful, and purposeful. In a lot of ways, it is its own form of meditation. However, Chun-Li never lived on or stuck with Tai-Chi. She has learned that it is great for various reasons but is not her go to. So, she has, over the years, integrated many things into her routines. As such, when she reaises up a leg slowly, she suddenly surges with inner power as she rushes forward with a flurry of kicks highlighted by blue energy. Each kick is fast, to a different point on an invisible opponent, and accurate. This alone would be impressive if not for the fact that she unleashed a blur of what seemed like a hundred kicks in just a few seconds.

As the wind and power from that fades, she lowers the leg with the same slow movements again. It's right back to Tai-Chi after that. For a few moments she appears to be quiet once more.

Of course, as she is about to unleash another grand move into her slow meditative movements, she blinks and pauses. Something was off. She looked around slowly till she blinked at the sight of the girl simply floating there. Shifting, she moves quietly and carefully in a path beside Rachel, not approaching but rather purposefully moving into line of sight as to not startle, offering a simple smile if looked toward and a wave.

Raven has posed:
That another person is present is now something that is obvious- but Raven isn't necessarily unused to others arriving during meditation, or for them to be loud-adjacent while there. Chun-Li is merely making the noise of footsteps and kicks- this isn't enough to disturb Raven, necessarily... Even though the noise of it sure -sounds- like a fight without voice.

That it doesn't startle Raven at all is some kind of testament, to be sure. She apparently can't be shaken so easily, or else there is some other factor- for example, if she were able to sense that there is no actual hostility in the area. That isn't obvious, though.

Her mouth remains closed, even as Chun-Li steps into what would be her eyesight, were her eyes open. She is breathing solemnly through her nose, and seems in many ways utterly at peace. Her hands have brought themselves to the apex of her bent legs, in a somewhat stereotypical image of meditation, her middle finger and thumb form a circle in her otherwise open hand.

The height of her flotation varies only slightly, by an inch or two at most at any time, yet that quiet motion up and down through the air almost seems like it would only aid in her meditative state, like the quite motion of a boat upon calm water.

Chun-Li has posed:
There's a soft appreciation of what she is seeing. Chun-Li only giving a slight nod to the girl's ability to stay in meditation and not be disturbed. As such, she isn't sure she should interrupt such a thing. However, given she doesn't seem bothered thus far, Chun-Li decides to continue. She only gives one last glance over Raven before slowly turning to go back into a ready stance, bringing her feeth together and hands as well before slowly stepping back into a slow motion fight.

As she goes slowly through, she occasionally allows her chi to flow freely around her, directing it with the skill and talent of a woman who has been doing this since she was five. As she reaches the final step of a long slow movement toward the right of her original position, she simply drops low in a quick moetion for a moment, before kicking upward. She literaly spins up into the air, kick after kick, raising herself into the air until she reaches roughly ten feet up and then spins back down to the ground.

Her landing is like a feather upon a pillow, despite what one might expect till she moves back into her slow motion. Still, even when she finishes, she glances carefully toward her fellow park user, seeming unsure of this other woman.

Raven has posed:
Raven is... Unsettling to be around. It's not every day you see a goth floating in park, let alone one that's able to just sort of ignore the world around her. It is not, however, just left to that: From the shape of the woman to the... Aura surrounding her, there is this horrible tranquility.

It's something akin to just the sensation that Raven doesn't -belong- here... And that doesn't mean that she merely shouldn't be in this park, but rather, that she shouldn't be -anywhere-. It's not necessarily logical at all- One would have to know more about Raven to know that. Instead, it's more of a... Feeling. A sensation of wrongness amid the calm.

Raven doesn't acknowledge the nod, it seems: She can't see it. She can -feel- it, however, and for a moment, there is this feeling of her 'attention' on Chun-Li. The kind of sensation you get when someone nearby is looking at you, nothing more... But it is notable.

As well, Raven seems to be -aware- that she's caught Chun-Li's attention, as shortly after the other woman finishes her routine, and looks her way, Raven rather calmly drifts upwards another foot or so, extending her legs beneath her, and taking to a stand. Clearly, she has some sort of Social Encounter Spider Sense, and to some rather obvious degree, is almost seeming to flee from that.

Chun-Li has posed:
Slowly, Chun-Li comes to a halt when Raven seems to be finishing up as well. She takes a breath and then offers a small smile, moving in the direction of Raven and calls out, "Hey." She asys softly as she approaches, "I have not seen someone meditate like that since my old mentor Gen." She states and nods her head, "I, myself, have never been able to achieve it."

She shakes her ehad before stretching her arms upward and adding, "I'm Chun-Li." She states softly, "I didn't expect company here. Seemed quiet. I hope I did not disturbe you too greatly."

Raven has posed:
Raven does not manage to flee quickly enough, it seems. As soon as Chun-Li is approaching, Raven is working to sling her sweater up and bring it down around herself, donning it in this one smooth motion that seems less for comfort and more to cover herself up as quickly as she can. Following that, she is slipping her feet into her boots. It therefore takes her some time to answer- perhaps in hopes that the other woman might be speaking to someone else, or just lose interest while Raven gets 'dressed'.

"It comes naturally. You didn't disturb me." There is this... Monotony to her voice, very little emotional lilt to it at all, and it even seems sort of... Rough. As if she doesn't speak much at all. "I also didn't... Expect anyone else to be here, either. It is normally quiet." Veiled, but Raven almost seems disappointed that someone else is present. All the same, she almost makes a point not to watch the martial artist stretch.

Chun-Li has posed:
"I see. Then we have that in common." She smiles and chuckles ever so slightly, "It is not often I run into another who seeks silence and quiet in their moments of training or meditation. For obvious reasons." She nods her head and then considers something a moment, looking off to the side, "It is almost in a way comforting." She looks back toward Raven, "You have a way about you that I have not seen in a while." She shrugs and then turns more fully to face Raven with a concerned look.

"Are you ok?" She asks and tilts her head, "You seems hurried and distracted." She steps slightly closer, "There was a part of me that enjoyed having another nearby that preferred silence in practice. Oh..." She then considers, "I'm sorry but I don't believe I heard your name?" She seems slightly confused.

Raven has posed:
To counter Chun-Li's not-quite-exuberance, Raven is, herself, almost entirely quiet. She waits for the woman to finish speaking for a while, and simply doesn't respond. It's... very easy to have a one-sided conversation with Raven. Her standoffishness hides behind her dutiful tying of her own laces, something that she has to kneel down to do for more than one reason. It helps maintain the image that she isn't -trying- to make the other person lose interest.

Though, it is impossible not to be rude when addressed and questioned directly. These she cannot pretend didn't happen. "I am fine." she notes, standing back up to height, and slipping her hands into her pockets. By this time, her hood is up, and she looks like others of her subculture do. Inverted upon herself. Confident, but guarded. "If I seem that way, it's only because I'm hurried and distracted." she notes, this kind of... Almost-mean statement kind of tradition for Raven's snarky sarcasm. Easy to brush off when you've known her a while. Just plain mean when you haven't. "And you didn't hear my name because we haven't exchanged them."

Chun-Li has posed:
"Well, as I had said, I am Chun-Li." She nods her head. She then smirks and then chuckles and shakes her head, "You remind me of someone." She then shrugs and takes a deep breath, "I have not seen that person in many years and yet..." She shrugs, "Seems you'd two either get along well or instantly hate each other." She then shrugs, "Either way, fine enough if you wish to not give me your name, oh dark one." She turns slightly to face the entrance of the park and looks to her side at Raven.

"I do not mind." She nods her head, "It was nice to meet you either way." She nods again before starting away, "It's been many years since I have run into someone like you...the last person I knew like that turned out to be quite interesting." She shrugs and continues away, "Until next time, Dark one." ANd with that Chun-Li is heading toward her own vehicle.

Raven has posed:
Raven doesn't necessarily consider her name a secret, but she knows that once she reveals it, she won't be hard to find. She also knows that to some degree, being outright rude is what most people have asked her not to do in the past. She's supposed to be nice to the public, after all. "My name is Raven." she offers, simply.

Raven can surmise- via various means- the way the other woman feels about this person she's describing. That is enough that Raven doesn't necessarily feel bothered too much by stating her name. As well, being called 'Dark One' isn't necessarily appealing for the goth.

However, that's the last she speaks, as by the time Chun-Li is actually walking away, she departs. Raven doesn't actually travel as much as she simply -disappears.- The other woman won't notice unless she turns back, but in one moment Raven is standing there.

In the next, she is just gone.

Chun-Li has posed:
A blink and she looks back briefly and smiles only to blink again. She looks around slowly and shakes her head, "Just like him..." She says to herself and then shrugs, "Raven." She nods and walks to her car, "Fits."
