Cast of Characters: Dragonfly (Armenteros), Rage, Cannonball, Nightingale, Nightcrawler, Kaydin LeGraize

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
The meeting of the Glee Club was scheduled to start a little after classes finished for the day in one of the classrooms that were set aside for such things. A quiet room, with tables and comfortable chairs was set up, the white board cleared in case anyone needed to make notes or anything like that. Strangely enough, it was the new kid - Gwendolyn - who arrived at the classroom, clutching a battered violin case that had definitely seen better days.

Peering into the classroom to see if anyone was around, she pushed the door open and entered, finding a spot near the middle of the front, unfastening the catches of her violin case and waiting, patiently, to see who else might be attending. Hopefully she won't be the only one here. After all, being the center of attention is the /last/ thing she wants.

Joining the glee club is probably not the best of ideas, then. ;p

Rage has posed:
Having already booked the music room for the afternoon, Andrea is surrounded by a number of younger children with various instruments. As she spies Gwendolyn, she perks up and rises to her feet. "Hey Gwen! Nice to see you. We're still a bit early so I'm just talking to some of the middle schoolers about sheet music. Do you know how to read it or are you more of a trial by fire kinda girl?" She asks curiously.

Classical music can be heard coming from the speakers in low volume to set a gentle that is relaxing. On the white board is several notes ranging from A through the end with descriptions of each one. "Are you looking to sing or play an instrument for Glee?" She grins at her. "I'm sure Shannon will be around later, as well Jay unless he's working tonight. Megan said she may stop by also. This is sorta a dry run."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is walking by and sees folks in the room, he will step in and to the side of the door frame. He is standing out of the way so he can watch and see how things are going. It is good to be part of staff at times.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
With the gathered children, Gwendolyn feels better about not being the center of attention, but at Andrea's call, she suddenly finds herself exactly that. Still, with the newly-provided goggles that are almost like sunglasses - based on Scott's goggles from what she heard - it looks like Gwen's wearing something other than welding goggles to keep her sanity. She's even forgone the hooded sweatshirt, going with a light jacket that actually lets her wings free - the first time she's been comfortable actually wearing them out in public since arriving.

"I...um..." She glances down at the case, swiveling it open and withdrawing a battered violin that's probably at least a hundred years old and shows every one of those years. "I know the basics of reading music, but ah' generally jus' go with the flow. Ain't never tried anything classical, but hum a few bars an' I prob'ly can get somethin' good for ya."

Rage has posed:
"No worries. I was just curious. I can read and write music because I was trained, but it's not a requirement for Glee Club. It's really just about us singing and having fun together. What type of music do you like? Besides the violin." Andrea asks with a smile on her face as she tucks some brown hair away from her face. The younger kids look over towards Gwendolyn and gives a few waves to her. They don't even blink at the sight of wings.

"So, are you familiar with Rock of Ages? That's the first production I wanted to put on for the school. It's a story of boy meets girl and they share a love of eighties rock music, they have a break up, go through emotions through the music and then get together at the end. It's fun. It's high energy. Lots of great costumes. Would that be something you're into?"

Nightingale has posed:
With classes done for the day, Shannon's gathered up her laptop bag, with all the things she needs for music. Earphones, laptop, her little mini MIDI keyboard, the whole works. She's wearing a cream colored tunic sweater with traditional cable knit patterns, and dark blue straight-legged jeans tucked into knee-high, soft brown boots. She's got her wings mostly tucked in behind her, not drooping at all, and even flutters them slightly to the beat of some tune she's working out in her mind, humming. She finds a seat towards the back of the classroom, close to where she can plug in her laptop, setting it up for working on music. A light wave and small smile is offered to those already in the room, but she otherwise keeps quiet. Well, mostly quiet. She's got music on the brain, for sure.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is near the door but out of the way.. He will check his phone for a moment, but mostly listening tot he students talking. He may not be musicaly talented but he does enjoy it.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"Well..." Gwendolyn closes the violin case, setting it down on the floor next to her by the chair, the violin held loosely in her left hand, resting on her thigh. "I like all sorts of music, except that mumbly-type rap that came out a few years back. I just can't understand the appeal." She wrinkles her nose as she frowns a little. "Besides, it's not good for violin. Anything that you can dance to, I can play. I even did a violin cover of one of your pop songs, zydeco-style. Blew the dance hall's mind whenever they figured out I was playing one of the songs off of Dangerous."

The play gets a shake of her head in the negative. "I haven't heard of it, but it sounds like it checks a lot of the boxes I like. Music you can dance to, a good story, and a happy - hopefully - ending."

Rage has posed:
"You did one of my songs? Really? Pleeeease don't tell me it was Backstabber. I wish that song could just get removed all together." The song that made her famous? One wiki search would tell you why. Andrea will always carry Mason's suicide attempt guilt in her chest over it. Lifting her hand to Shannon, she gives a bright smile. "Hey! I'm glad you showed up."

Spying Sam, she gives him a waves as well, motioning him to grab a seat if he wants. "You haven't heard of Rock of Ages? No problem." She says as she pulls out her phone and makes her way over to the sound system with a projector. Plugging herself in, she scrolls through the tracks to find the one she wants to show off.

"This is one of the songs we will be performing. It's at the start of the show. I am actually thinking of casting Shannon in the role of Sherrie because of her vocal range." She clicks play on the phone and motions to the speakers.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon raises her eyebrows a little bit, canting her head slightly to one side. "Well... my vocal range is approximately D3 to F5, comfortably, before I really start struggling in either direction. Is the part somewhere in that range? Mostly alto, but I could take tenor or maybe second soprano if I had to." She closes her eyes, listening to the song, smiling a little. "Though just once... only once... I did manage Christine's solo from the title piece of Phantom of the Opera. Took me a couple days to sing right again, though."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will find a seat, turning it around backwards to straddle it. He hmms softly thinking a bit to himself. He is mostly quiet at least.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Vocal range isn't much of a thing for Gwendolyn. Some of her songs do have words and she can carry a tune if she needs to, but D3 to F5? Sounds like chess moves to her. Besides, singing in French Creole does tend to give one a lot of leeway with songs and lyrics. "It was Fire at Will, actually. I had to do a lot of translation to get it right, change the timing up a little but..." she shrugs and smiles. "The kids in the crowd got it almost instantly. The adults danced the whole way through and then asked why the kids were smiling so much."

When the music starts, Gwendolyn - wings out for the first time most people here have seen them - goes quiet, leaning closer to the speaker to pick up the nuances of the music as it's sung. "Is this the stage production?" she asks, glancing over to Shannon.

Rage has posed:
"Oh! Fire At Will. That song was one of my favorites to write. I was in a bad place emotionally when I wrote it and I needed to feel strong again. It's a song I wrote when I was putting up walls around my heart and trying to grow thicker skin. The media was a firestorm at the time." Andrea leans into her own chair once she flops down into it.

"You definitely got the range for Sherrie. You have a bit of rock opera in there and Sherrie is very emotional and passionate when she sings. It's designed to be raw."

"I am thinking of casting Jay as Drew, the lead male. I mean, he's an automatic lock in my opinion and he has a country-rock background which is perfect for the tone he can bring to the stage."

To Gwen's question, she says, "This version is from a movie. I can get you a stage production one. It's a lot more dramatic." Once the song ends, she reaches over and taps on another. "This is Don't Stop Believing, the Broadway cast performing it."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and smiles somewhat. "Sounds like it could be fun. I've heard of Rock of Ages, but never seen it. Run a couple of song names by me, maybe I've heard one or two?" She closes her eyes and listens to the music as it plays. Her smile widens and she bobs her head in time to the music, and actually starts picking up some of the vocal lines as well.

"Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train
Going anywhere..."

Yeah. She knew this song.

Nightcrawler has posed:
"Singer inna smo-oky room! Smell uf wine und cheap perfu-ume! For a smile zey can share the night, it goes on und on und on und on!" Kurt appears from the door - not a professional singer specifically, but he has years as a professional performer. He knows how to use the diaphragm and even some circular breathing that is coming into play as he strides in, a hand on his chest and the other splayed out as his feet catch hold of a support and he swings around it as if he were standing on it and not twirling like a dancer of the pole.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit as his brother is mentioned. He hmms and says "I wonder..." Sam seems to be thinking something and maybe not ready to share his thought as he is thinking.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
As people start singing along - even Kurt and his German-tinged version, Gwendolyn, instead of shrinking back into the crowd, scoots her chair back, lifts her violin up, and starts to play along with the singing!

Rage has posed:
When Shannon starts to sing, Andrea is all grins as she listens to her tone, then lifts her brows upwards as Kurt appears to let his own voice join in. There's a giddy surge that rushes through her that is joy. One hand starts to snap her fingers as she rocks back and forth. This is what Rock of Ages truly is about after all.

"Strangers! Waaaaiting!
Up and down the boulevard!
Their shadows .. searching in the niiiiight!
Streetlights! People!
Living just to /find/ emotion!
Hiding ... somewhere in the liiiiiiiight!"

As she pours out the chorus, she shows off her well oiled raspy falsetto as she drags the inflections outwards beautifully in time with the other two's voices. She gets a shiver up her back as they hit that synchronization of harmony. She sways back and forth along with the violin, grinning as she glances over to Sam with a raised brow. Well?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon gets a positively evil little grin on her face as she grins over at her adopted big brother. Uh-oh. In a flash, she is out of her seat, striding right over to him as if she owned the room. "You're not weaseling out of this one, big brother. Call it payback for sending that recording of the memorial to my folks. Come on, join us!" Laughing, she reaches for his hands, to pull him into the middle of the group.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie shakes his head and says "Nope, you want a singing Guthrie find Jay, Ah suck at singing, Heck the preacher at church asked me to just hum along." He jokes a bit to her "If Ah start singing Andrea will shift, and start howling at the moon or something."

Nightcrawler has posed:
Letting Andrea take point, Kurt leaps from the pole to the ceiling, handspringing across it and down to the floor and leaping towards Sam, stopping his addition to the song as he looks to actually -land- on Cannonball, trusting in his training and natural awareness of balance to distribute his weight to land long enough to say something quietly before he's on the ceiling again, grinning to himself.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Gwendolyn's violin plays along in counterpoint to the singing, and from the way her cheeks are turning up at the corners beneath her glasses, it's easy to see that she's quite pleased with the way things are shaping up, musically and otherwise. HEr playing is strong, with the notes held and singing out without any sort of misplay. Listeners can tell that, although not practiced in music, she certainly has a talent. "come on, Samuel. Singin' ain't about doin' well, it's about th' song. C'mon." She gestures with her bow, waiting for the second verse to kick in.

Rage has posed:
"Come on, Sam! If you don't sing, I'll shift into a werewolf and shed all over you!" Andrea calls out as she reaches for her guitar to begin playing alongside Gwendolyn. She lets her new friend keep the lead as she supplies a bit of background tone.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"Ah' c'n do it in Creole, if'n it'll make y'all feel better." Gwendolyn adds with a smirk.

Nightingale has posed:
Just to cinch the deal, Shannon just looks at Sam, and turns on, full blast... wait for it...

Wait...

Almost there...

Yes! The Puss-in-Boots eyes! She puts on the most sorrowful, hangdog look she can, her eyes open wide, lower lip quivering as if she was about to turn on the waterworks. "Pleeeeeeeeeeease? Pretty please?" Pause. Double pause. She seems to be considering something, and lets out a mock heavy sigh.

"I'll even sing ONE song on karaoke night at the club. JUST ONE."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie braces himself for the landing by Kurt, more from reflex than anything else. At the quick words a brow raises and a bit of a smile shows. He hmms a bit at Shannon and will sing a few bars, and while he aint quite dogs howling cats screetching bad, He is not very good. He does try and that part is obvious but yea Jay got that Talent. Sam is more than explorer than entertainer.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt hangs, literally, on the ceiling, watching them all as he gets comfortable and looks mighty pleased with himself as he watches the other. Good mood for a change!.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just smiles to herself, peering up at Kurt for a moment with eyebrows lofted. It was good to see a smile on his face as well. Maybe the debt of a song she now owed was well worth it. Now it was just a question of when that would be called in! She continues the song, picking up where Sam leaves off.

"Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on...."

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Gwendolyn's violin playing builds as Shannon starts the crescendo of the song, the girl leaning into the music, her arm going back and forth in time with 'on and on,' the music building to a climax!

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will only sing a bit but does give it his best, letting those who do a better job with it continue with the song. He does tap his foot in time with the music.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins as she looks up at the ceiling. Spreading her wings open, she lifts off into the air, just high enough to go for... the tail! "Come on, Kurt... come join us?" She has to think her next words through, and hopefully her pronunciation of the language is improving somewhat. "Du singst gut. Bitte singen Sie mit uns?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt Wagner shakes his head from the ceiling, "Perhaps in the future, but I only had enough for the one verse. I thank you for the offer. I'm mostly observing, for productions, ja?" the bavarian offers a grin, hovering where he hangs.

Rage has posed:
When the song comes to an end, Andrea is grinning as her head tilts over towards Gwen. "So, whatcha think? Rock of Ages is pretty cool, huh? Think that's something you can get into?" She asks as she slides her guitar down from her lap to her hip. She folds one leg over the other, giving Sam a grin.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
A blur forms in the room, moving about the room and producing blue lightning. When it stops, Kaydin looks to Shannon and he watches her. "Yo." He says as he watches the others and munches on some kind of jerky. "So this is musical talents class?" He asks curiously as he blurs between the girls and he smiles as he blurs out. Seems he left without word.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"Pretty cool, yep." Gwendolyn responds to Andrea with a grin. "I can get into this pretty well, I think. It's not anything crazy, and you might get a lot of people singing along with the show." Pushing the chair back, Gwendolyn sets her violin down, clapping as the song fades out. "Glee club. Music club. Little of one, little of the other."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks up to Kurt, and says "Ah was talking to Sam about some holographic stuff for the club, and thought he might be able to work some for the drama club as well. Not sure if he plans on trying out for the acting or not, but between him and Alek, pretty sure you could have amazing effects.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon blinks as she lands, a blue blur of lightning there and gone again with just a few words. She rolls her eyes and chuckles. "Hey, Kaydin. Joining the Glee club?" She glances over to Andrea, tilting her head. "Did the meetings get moved to Wednesdays instead of Friday afternoons? Because if it's Friday afternoons, I've got a class at that time and wouldn't be able to make it. Just saying, in case you do wind up casting me in something." Sam gets a nod, and a smile. "Yeah, Bean was doing really well on that when he was fixing up those lights yesterday."

Rage has posed:
"Dates are flexible. This was just a hang out to see who wants to come and jam and sing for a bit. I am thinking of moving it to Weds anyways since a lot of people have Friday conflicts." Andrea says as she glances down at her phone. "I gotta get going for a bit, but feel free to use the room to have fun. Hey, Kaydin." She says to the speedy mutant as he blurs about, then heads for the door with a grin. "Thanks for coming, Gwen. I can't wait to hear you sing as well."

Nightcrawler has posed:
"I'd be most appreciative if he can set such up. If you see he him before me, send him my way eh?" Kurt nods, looking then to the appearance of Kaydin, brows up and offering him a nod before Andrea announces her leaving, offering a polite wave as she goes.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin blurs back in with a blue orcarina in his hands. He begins to play the zelda theme with it, before finally playing a few of the songs from orcarina of time

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Music over and done with, Gwendolyn puts her violin away carefully, pulls her glasses off and rubs her eyes - closed, mind you - and then puts them back on almost immediately. "These things take some getting used to." she says, gesturing to the glasses, giving everyone a smile. "Just let me know when I need to show up and I'll see waht I can do."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon waves to Andrea and smiles. "Hey, no being a stranger, okay? Looking forward to getting this ball rolling." With that, the other girl is gone, and she glances over at Gwendolyn. "Hey... you play pretty well there! C'est tres magnifique, madamoiselle." Not Creole, but French--hopefully, it was still understandable. "Maybe we should have a talent show at some point, get everyone with a mind to involved. Hmmm..." She seems to think for a moment. "Not sure about hard and fast scheduling, but Andrea did just say it may be on Wednesdays, rather than Fridays because a lot of us have scheduling conflicts then. I'll have to bug her later about that and get something confirmed." Sam and Kurt get a bit of a sheepish smile and she shrugs. "Yeah, I know. Got a debt to pay. Next karaoke night."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin puts his orcarina up and he looks to everyone leaving. "Always arriving when they are leaving." He says with a shrug as he blurs out once more.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods to Shannon and says "There has been plans for one for a bit." He tells Shannon. "Ah put the last of the Okra in the fridge if your wanting to use it for Gumbo you may need to soon Gwen. Pretty much at the end of the growing season for veggies, not in the green house." He starts to say something to Kaydin, but the kid is off again. He counts 1,2,3,4,5. expecting Kaydin to be back by then says "So just teach yourself to play that?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kaydin's arrival and disappearance is likewise met with a blink by Kurt as the speedster is on his way. "Shannon, when you and Andrea have a bit more of who you have working in glee set out, let me know. I'll have an official meet of Drama with Glee, ok?" grinning he stands on the ceiling, bouncing to the floor and using the momentum to tumble and leap, disappearing into a cloud of indigo smoke.
