Synopsis: Andrea and Jay have a chat in the gardens, learning more about each other and confronting some personal demons.
Cast of Characters: Icarus, Rage

Icarus has posed:
After finishing up with dinner, Jay remembered what Andrea had asked about. A walk in the garden to talk. So he fired off a text to her number.

'In garden if you wanted to talk'

He was pretty far in. He'd been sitting on a bench but was eying the crops which led to him being on his hands and knees on the path, pulling a few weeds out of the squash plants.

Rage has posed:
After a few minutes, Andrea shows up as she heads over towards him. Her smile brightens as she lifts her hand up to catch his attention. "Hey. Thanks for texting me. I was going to go at it alone since I figured you were gonna be snagged back there." Taking a long stretch of her body, she flops her arms down at her sides.

Icarus has posed:
Jay sits back on his heels, glancing up at her from his spot on the ground. "Not sure who thought it was squash season but these seem to be growing pretty good despite that. Someone around here have a green thumb power?" he asks as he rises to his feet, dusting his hands off on his jeans before waving to the bench. "Wanna sit?"

Rage has posed:
"I"m sure someone around here has a garden power. I wouldn't be surprised." Andrea says as she takes a seat on the bench, leaning back into it and folding one leg over the other. "I love walking around out here. It always smells good and it's pretty quiet. Easy to get some thinking in and work on lyrics."

Icarus has posed:
"Nothing like the smell of tomato plants to get the juices flowing," Jay teased lightly as he settled beside her. He has to lift his wings up and fold them over the back of the bench. He should've picked a bench with no back to simplify his life.

"I can see the thinking. That was one of the good things back home. Could head out to the woods when you needed quiet."

Rage has posed:
Nodding her head, Andrea smiles. "I do like to walk about as a wolf around here. Scare the rabbits away from eating the lettuce." She inches in a bit closer. Scootch, scootch. "You don't have to be in the play if you don't want, Jay. I just figured with your voice annnd... your looks ... you'd make a great Drew for Rock of Ages."

Icarus has posed:
Completely unaware as he's looking over the plants with a critical eye of someone who has had to raise them before. Jay doesn't seem to notice she's inching over toward him. At the comment on his looks, he does glance over and shakes his head. "I don't mind. Just really wanted to give others a chance. I know I have an advantage with my powers. Kind of makes it hard to actually sing badly, even when using my own voice."

Rage has posed:
"Well, I made Glee Club for fun, Jay. It's nothing serious and no one is going to get upset about it. My rule is that everyone at some point will get a lead. I just figured with your Southern roots, rock and roll will come naturally for you and you have that great voice. I honestly could listen to you sing all day." Andrea says with a small giggle. Usually confident and overbearing, she's turning into a goofy puddle around him. "I'm gonna try and get a Halloween themed event also for the school. Maybe a masquerade dance."

Icarus has posed:
"You keep talking like a fan or something. You're the star, remember?" Jay says with a soft laugh. He isn't catching on at all. Too centered in his own mind and personal issues to get that she might like him in the like-like way. Instead of just a friend way. "A dance would be fun. I know a lot of guys my age like to say they don't dance but I love it. Goes with whole musicality thing, I feel."

Rage has posed:
".. I kinda /am/ a fan." Andrea says with a soft huff in her throat. "And I'm ... not that big of a deal." She really is. "Anyways, since you like to dance and all. Maaaybe you'd like to ... go with me to the dance?" She ventures curiously. "I think it'd be fun and no one's asked me yet .. or probably will."

Icarus has posed:
Wait. Did this just step inot something more than friends? Jay considered as he tilted his head slightly, trying to figure this out. Since for him, it is entirely too soon to be moving on. He will never feel those feelings again, he just knows it. But he likes hanging out with Andrea, spending time.

"Uh...yeah. I'd like that. But I am sure you'll get asked a lot. So if you decide you want to go with someone else, no hard feelings. I get it."

Rage has posed:
"I don't want to go with anyone else and I'm pretty sure no one is gonna ask me." Andrea says with a chuckle as she rubs the back of her neck. "Guys are intimidated by me. Senior. Mega-celebrity. Turns into a werewolf. Mom is a marine. You know how it is. That and I want to go with someone who will appreciate the music and keep up with me on the dance floor. I'm no wallflower." She says as she glances up at him.

Icarus has posed:
"Didn't figure you were. Seen footage of you on tour. You tear up the stage out there, even while singing. And yeah, I can tell you aren't lip synching. It sounds different. Well, to me." Jay gives a shrug as he gives his compliment. Being able to emulate any sound he hears, it's a slight difference but one he can pick up. Most people never would. "I think you'll wear my feet off but I'm willing to try keeping up with you."

Rage has posed:
"I never lip synch. That's just embarrassing. I know a lot that do in my industry." Andrea says as she gives him a grin. "You watched me on tour, huh? That's cool. Was it okay? My team works really hard to put on a good show. I passed out behind stage in London about two months ago. I pushed myself too hard and I almost puked. Was real embarrassing. I just want to give the fans what they paid for." She rubs the back of her neck again. "But thank you for accepting. I hope we have a lot of fun."

Icarus has posed:
"You saw my music lists. Obviously I've looked up stuff about you before and listened to your music online. Official videos and concert footage," Jay points out, giving a shake of the head. "I never got to see one of them live though. Didn't really get to see anyone live. Concerts cost money we needed for the littles at home." Meaning his kid brothers and sisters.

Rage has posed:
"Theeeen... why don't I fly out your family to come watch me play at Evo and you all can get the VIP seats?" Andrea says as she tucks her hair back behind her ear. "That would be fun, right? Then they can see a concert and the guys I have opening for me is really good. The drummer has five arms and this three-sixty drum set. It's so cool."

Icarus has posed:
"Andrea, I appreciate it but I can't accept that. It'd be a fortune to fly them out and the number of seats...it's too much. It's real sweet of you to offer but someday I'll have enough to pay for us on my own." Jay had a certain amount of pride, having been the 'man' of the house with Sam gone. His Ma worked as well to help but he had given all his money to support the family.

Rage has posed:
"It wouldn't be a big deal at all, Jay, seriously. I know Shannon will flip out if they showed up also, seeing how Sam adopted her or whatever as an honorary sister. So, it'd be a two-fer. I'd be making everyone happy." Andrea says as she chews on her bottom lip.

Icarus has posed:
"That's a big deal for you, isn't it?" Jay asked. "To make other people happy. To bring joy. But what about for you, Andrea? What about your own happiness? I mean, are you happy? Is there anything missing in your life?"

Rage has posed:
Rubbing the back of her neck, Andrea shrugs her shoulders. "... I'm rich, famous, and powerful. I have everything I could ever want or buy for. I just want to give back to those who got me to where I'm at today. I'm happy. I guess... it's just.. I don't know." She says with a sigh. "I'm sorry for being pushy. I'll have the team record the concert and then you can send it to them instead."

Icarus has posed:
"Andrea, if it will make you happy, we'll go. I mean I would love to see you in concert. I know the littles would love it. Ma, well maybe not so much," Jay says with a chuckle. "I just am not used to being given stuff. Used to having to work and earn it myself. That's all."

Rage has posed:
"It's okay to accept a gift once in awhile from a friend. I have a hard time doing that as well. I'm just used to always paying for dinner if we go out with friends, or whatever, you know? It's expected. I'm the rich girl. I'm not going to assume my friends on a limited budget should fork their wallets out." Andrea says as she rubs her hands together nervously. "I just don't want to be the bitchy rich girl that lords it over my friends either. I honestly just want to do nice things and to make people happy. Guess in the end, I want people to remember me for being generous, instead of a dumb airheaded popstar or a bitch."

Icarus has posed:
"Anyone that thinks you are either of those, doesn't know you," Jay says simply. "I'm going to be honest. I had preconceived notions. No one could be as nice as your are portrayed in the media. But then I met you. And now? Now I know you are one of the nicest, realest people I've ever met. "

Rage has posed:
"I mean, don't get me wrong, I can /be/ a bitch if I need to.. sometimes in Hollywood, you have to be assertive, to stand up for yourself or others will take advantage of you. As a mutant celebrity, I have to navigate that gently. I can't .. you know.. do something stupid in public. I gotta be the girl next door from Disney all the time. But here at this school? I don't have to act or pretend. I can just be a normal teenager who goes to class like anyone else." Andrea says as she glances over at him, offering a smile. "Just like you or anyone else. In here, I don't have to be a celebrity. I can be Andrea. New Mutant. Glee Club. Sometimes leaps in front of monsters."

Icarus has posed:
That gets another smile from him and a shake of the head. "Not sure about the whole leaping in front of monsters. Would kinda like to keep you around for a long time so let's try to avoid that part, okay? As for the rest? I like the real you. Shockingly genuine and nice. Nicer than anyone has a right to be, I think. Something weird about that."

Rage has posed:
"There's something weird about being nice and selfless?" Andrea says with a laugh. "I have my mother to thank for that. My parents just raised me in the church and I guess I just took after both of them. My mom is a hero, my dad is a hero. I just want to do good by them." She leans in and bumps her shoulder against his. "But what's funny is that after all of this? I don't want to be an X-Man like your brother, or a superhero. I want to continue doing work with my charity. I'm building a free clinic in Mutant Town by the way. A place for mutants to have real health care catered to them, so they won't face bias or be turned away when they go to other hospitals."

Icarus has posed:
"Lots of people claim to be nice and selfless. Few really are. Most are doing it for some other reason. To look good, to try to earn their way into Heaven, whatever it might be. It is rarely cause they actually are. You just are." Jay shrugs a bit then nods. "Is that what you were talking about in the dining room with Chris? Your clinic?"

Rage has posed:
"It was, yeah. I want Chris to be the head healer there, but he's worried it will take time away from here and Shannon." Andrea says with a sigh. "So, I don't know if he'll take the offer. Was gonna drop a six fig salary on him too. I just want someone I trust to manage it." She says as she rubs her hands together again as if to keep them warm, then tucks them between her knees. "So if he doesn't take it, I guess I have to keep searching and hopefully find someone that is competent and professional."

Icarus has posed:
"Maybe have someone else in charge. Or have Shannon there as well as an assitant. With all the teleporting people around here, it shouldn't be difficult as they could be back here pretty much instantly when needed. I get he doesn't want to not be around here, as much as folks seem to end up needing treatment. But it could be done. I think." Jay shrugs again. He notices her getting a bit of a chill and it is automatic. One of those large red wings shifts up from it's position halfway behind the bench. It folds around her carefully and curls in, wrapping her in warmth. Then he pauses and the wing lifts slightly as he realizes something. "Sorry. Should've asked first. You looked cold. Is this okay?"

Rage has posed:
"Yeah, I told him that in case of an emergency here, he can obviously pop back to the school. I have two nurses interviewed and ready to go which will take a majority of patients. He just needs time to think about it. I don't want to put any pre--.." Andrea pauses as the wing wraps about her and her eyes widen. "Oh! It's /totally/ cool. It's okay. Really. Um.." She stammers out with a blush along her cheeks as she inches in closer to him so that she can lean her head on his shoulder. "You can wrap me in your wings."

Icarus has posed:
"THey are suprisingly warm. Most people don't realize it," Jay says as that wing settles back down around her. He even raises his arm to put around her shoulders, to allow her to scootch in closer. For warmth, of course. Nothing else going on here at all. "That should warm you up pretty quickly." He brought the other wing forward and around, wrapping both of them in a cocoon of feathers. "Maybe you should consider a PA or something for the clinic? So he doesn't feel like he has to be there all the time?"

Rage has posed:
When she is wrapped about in his red wings, Andrea can feel her heart pounding rapidly in her chest, her arms goosebumping briefly as she sucks in a slow breath of his scent. As she scootches in closer, she curls an arm about his waist, closing her eyes with a happy rumble in her throat. "Mmhm." She murmurs in regards to his question. All she can hear is her heart banging in her ears, swallowing in her throat. "... I could fall asleep like this."

Icarus has posed:
Jay holds her like that comfortably then something comes into his head and he frowns a little. He glances to the woman snuggled comfortably against his side, wrapped in his wings. Nah, she was just cold. Nothing more to this. After all, she knew his situation. Sort of. "Then I'd have to carry you up to your room. Everyone would be talking about how bad you snore." He has to try to lighten things up.

Rage has posed:
"Mmf. I'd bite anyone who dared make fun of my snoring. I have big teef." Andrea says as she gives him another squeeze. She looks so happy and content there. She's so desperately needed this lately. Comfort. "You are curled up on a bench with one of the biggest popstars in the world. This is probably brag worthy for your friends back home, huh?"

Icarus has posed:
"Not that it isn't brag worthy, cause yeah, holding Andrea Jackson like this is a big deal. But no, I don't think of you like that. Something to be shown off and trying to be a big man cause you let me wrap a wing around you. That's just stupid."

Rage has posed:
There's a soft laugh from Andrea. "You can tell your friends. I wouldn't care. It's not like we're hooking up. I'm sure everyone that gets a picture with me freaks out and calls and tweets about it." She says as she props her chin on his shoulder, staring up at him with her dark brown eyes. "Though I would totally brag about getting a chance to snuggle up with this guy who has beautiful red wings, an amazing voice, and Southern hospitality. My mother would freak out."

Icarus has posed:
Jay can't help but blush as she says that. His green eyes focus on her dark brown ones. "Momma wouldn't approve? She all protective of you and stuff?" he asks curiously. His own Ma would've been understanding but he knew other Mom's weren't necessarily so laid back. After all, he was just helping keep her warm. Right?

Rage has posed:
"No, my mom would freak out that I would bring home a guy like you over a guy like Mason. You are sweet, polite, respectful and /really/ hot." Andrea says as she stares back into his green eyes. "And she likes red heads. My dad is a red head. She'd approve of you in a heartbeat. My parents would be overjoyed. They hated Mason but they kept their nose out of my business to keep me happy. Any mom who was of sane mind would approve of you, Jay."

Icarus has posed:
That brings a hint of sadness to his eyes and Jay quickly looks away. The tomato plants are a safe place to focus. "Dunno about that. Not everyone thinks as highly of me as you seem to. Not sure that the people involved were insane though. Or just intolerant."

Rage has posed:
"Well, a lot of people hate my music, but I don't give the haters any of my attention. I focus on those who care about me, because they are the most important voices in my life." Andrea wiggles her phone out of her pocket and smiles, then presses her cheek up against his as she turns her eyes to her phone. She snaps a picture of them together, then taps along the phone to send a text to her mother with a giggle.

Hey mom! This is Jay Guthrie. He is Sam's brother who's my age.

She smiles, watching the blue dots flash along the screen as her mother is typing back. Waiting.

Icarus has posed:
That brings him back to reality and out of the shadows of memory. "Wait..what? You did not just. Andrea!" His wings ruffle around them but then settle back into place a moment later. "I mean it's okay and all but don't want her to get the wrong impression of stuff."

Rage has posed:
Ding! The phone responds back with a thumbs up emoji. 'He has wings!'

"See, told you she'd be cool." Andrea says with a smile as she taps back a quick response to her, then tucks it back into her pocket. She shifts about to get comfortable again as her hand settles over his chest. "Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe, you don't know, oh, oh oh! you don't know you're beautiful." She sings to him in an old One Direction song.

Icarus has posed:
That gets a laugh out of Jay as he shakes his head. "Everybody loves the wings. Haven't figured that out yet. It's like they think I'm an angel or something which is pretty absurd," he says with a slight shrug. Only slight as he doesn't want to jostle her since she seems so comfortable. As she sings the old song, he snorts. "Dunno about that. Good looking maybe but beautiful is pushing it."

Rage has posed:
"Well, you can heal. That's kinda angelic." Andrea says with a smile as she keeps his stare with her own eyes. "You are good looking." She agrees with him. "I like you, Jay. I feel easy with you." She says as her cheeks flush a bit. ".. Look, I know you got some stuff you're working out." She says as her fingers tap over his chest gently where his heart resides. "But, when you're ready .. I would be honored to go out to dinner with you and put a nice dress on. If you feel like maybe you'd be interested one day. No pressure. Okay?"

Icarus has posed:
It's his turn to blush again. Jay puts his hand atop hers on his chest and swallows. Hard. "Yeah, I have a lot of baggage. I'm not sure I'll ever be through it completely, I have to be honest. But if I ever am and if I ever do, then I would love to have dinner with you. Even as friends now, hopefully we're still going to a dance and having cheesecake after the stuff at Sam's club, yes?"

Rage has posed:
"I have a lot of baggage also, Jay, but I'm willing to leave it behind to try something else and to find a way to be happy again." Andrea's fingers curl up with his. "Life is about risk and reward and sometimes you have to just take that leap through the waterfall. Geronimo." She quotes another song to him softly. "But yeah, we're definitely going out after the club, and to the dance." She presses her cheek against his shoulder. "I love...d... Mason. He's been a huge part of my life and we tore each other apart and rebuilt each other and tore it down again so many times. But it helped prepare me to discover what I really /need/ in a relationship. I know you feel a lot of guilt over what happened with your last girl, and even though I don't know the details, I do know that you do need someone to talk to. Even if it's not me, maybe Kitty who's a counselor, or your brother, or a therapist. Just please take care of yourself. Okay?"
