Who's the Teacher
Date of Scene: 22 October 2019
Location: Chikara Dojo, Lower East Side
Synopsis: Chun-Li comes to the Chikara Dojo
Cast of Characters: Iron Fist, Chun-Li

Iron Fist has posed:
It was late. Danny Rand had chosen to stay in and practice, instead of go hunting for challenges, protecting people, and the like. He was fully intent on having a night in, once Colleen returned. But for now, he was taking in the chance to hone his skills, re-centre himself, and collect his thoughts. In the middle of the dojo, he wore black pants, a white linen shirt, only to cover the dragon on his chest, and he was barefoot. He was going through a meditation routine. As always, the door was open. Students could come and go. They had a very welcoming policy.

Chun-Li has posed:
Chun-Li had not been in town long. She hadn't had a lot of opportunities to see what this city's martial arts scene had to offer. Now, with a bit of free time on her hands she had asked about for the various schools that are here. She had weeded out the ones that seemed to just be after school programs and for profit programs. Sure, they could teach discipline and weren't unhealthy outlets for the most part, but they didn't really teach any form of martial arts. Heck, they barely taught proper self-defense. That is when she came upon the Chikara Dojo. She went to see it, looking to see what it was all about. Finding it open still with only one man inside, she opened the door quietly, casually taking her shoes off at the door, no small feet given her choice of footwear.

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny was soft spoken, and bowed to the new arrival when he noted her, "welcome to the Chikara Dojo. My name is Danny Rand. What's yours?" He was friendly, with genuine warmth in his voice. Many people could say the same words as he did, but treat it as a routine, doing his part, waiting for the other person, but to Danny, every action, or inaction, had a purpose, and a part to play in things. Making his way over, he offered a hand in greeting, "what brings you here tonight?" And a warm smile. He had pearly white teeth.

Chun-Li has posed:
A simple smile is returned and she offers her hand back, "Thank you, I am Xiang Chun-Li." She nods her head to him before she takes his hand and gives it a soft shake. She then slowly looks around the room and then back to him, "I was curious about this place. I had heard about it briefly and felt it was worth looking into." She offers a simple smile in return, no teeth, just a smile and nothing more.

Iron Fist has posed:
"A place is just four walls, and a roof. One is as good as any other. It's what you bring, and how open you are, that matters. Life is not about the destination, but the journey. What are you looking to get out of it?" Her name, if he recognised it, doesn't seem to provoke a reaction. "We have two senseis, myself, and Colleen Wing, who is not here at the moment." Then, trying to break the ice, he put a hand to his mouth, fake whispering, "she's the better teacher" with a twinkle in his eye and a grin.

Chun-Li has posed:
"I am looking to bring justice for those who are without it." Chun-Li smiles and then shrugs, "Though, if I were to take either of you as sensei you'd have to be able to teach me something." She chuckles and shrugs, "Maybe you can." She nods her head, "I'm mainly here to see what is offered in this city." She looks to him, "Danny Rand sounds somewhat familiar though." She considers, "Aren't you a CEO or something?" She seems like that isn't everything she remembers but she can't seem to place him as anything but that.

Iron Fist has posed:
"Justice is a worthy cause," he began moving about the dojo, resuming his meditation as he spoke, curious to see if she would join in. "Taking on a sensei, just as taking on a student, is a serious commitment. But do you truly believe that that there is nothing any single person could teach you that you did not already know? We are all learning, every moment of our lives, either something new, or reinforcing something old. I wear many hats. That is one of them, although it was passed onto me by my family."

Chun-Li has posed:
"I'm not sure if there's something you could teach me but I imagine there's quite a bit I could teach you." She nods her head, "My last sensei seemed to learn a little from me, though he is quite the old man." She laughs a little, "So, there's little left for him to learn other than how to make a better meal." She nods slightly before shrugging softly, "You talk a good game, Danny Rand. That's for sure, though I am curious what kind of art you teach."

Iron Fist has posed:
"I am forever learning," he conceded, though he seemed a little concerned that she suggested that just because someone was old, they had little to learn. "Master Lei Kung teaches that the older one becomes, the more they realise how much is left to learn. Cooking is a good analogy for martial arts. When cooking pasta, there is a precise time and mixture of salt that must be added to the water. The closer you become to getting the timing and measurements right, the better the dish will become. Just as there are precise movements that can be performed; the closer you can time and coordinate your muscles, the greater your efforts will become. I am acquainted with many disciplines. Kunlunquan, Shaolinquan, Fujian White Crane, Judo, Aikido, Wing Chun, Ninjutsu, Muay Thai, Karate, Boxing, and I've even been known to engage in loose street fighting."

Chun-Li has posed:
A chuckle, "Master Gen would like you." She nods her head, "He was a strange one, like yourself." She nods her haed and then she shifts a little in her spot and nods, "I am familiar with some of those, if not greatly, at least peripherally." SHe nods her head, "I am mainly trained in Tai-Chi, Kenpo, and Hong Quan, but I have integrated many styles." She debates something in her mind, looking him over before nodding, "I do not need a sensei but I do need a sparring partner. If you are as skilled as you say, you might work for that." She chuckles.

Iron Fist has posed:
Danny had been going through with his exercises as she observed him, and they spoke. She may not have been looking for a teacher, but he could offer her the chance to spar. It was good for him too. Without missing a beat, during his exercises, he turned, as she likely anticipated him to. It was part of the routine he was going through, but instead of going to the next step, his posture changed, flowing freely and effortlessly, into a defensive stance, and he gestured with the fingers of his left hand for her to come at him, inviting her to attack. Perhaps most annoyingly, he seemed to be smiling even more than before. This was fun to him. She was the quite possibly strongest human woman in the world, and he invited her to prove it.

Chun-Li has posed:
She smirks at him and shrugs. If he wishes to fight right away, she can offer him that. She keeps her standing stance, not even switching to a martial arts stance rigth away. She decides she has no idea if this man is prepared for her at full power so she holds back, not even using her chi. She instead just comes at him with a simple pair of fast kicks, her leg moving at incredible speed even with her holding back. She kicks her right leg at his head and then switches with amazing balance to another kick right at his side without ever putting her leg down, it coming back to her, staying up as she faces him.

Iron Fist has posed:
She hadn't warmed up. She was an unknown. But when she did accept the offer, or was he accepting her offer, either way, he was careful to hold back, at least until he had a better sense of her ability. She seems to favour kicks. He tried to evade or parry her attacks, adopting total defence, using her strength and momentum against her, but not actually trying to attack her himself. The double kick was impressive, highly impressive, "nice move"

Chun-Li has posed:
A smirk as he blocks and she considers, "Well, you didn't just fall apart from a couple of my kicks." She nods her head as she smiles and pulls back, "Maybe you might be worth me coming to see again, but it is late and I didn't really want a fight tonight. I am an Agent of Interpol." She nods her head, "I cannot spend all night out having fun." She shrugs and then gives him a slight bow before walking back over to her shoes.

Iron Fist has posed:
With her pulling back, he disengaged and carefully bowed to her. "As you wish, Xiang Chun-Li. You are welcome to return at any time." He was surprised she mentioned that she works for Interpol, but accepted the new information. "I wish you well on your police-related endeavours. At that point, he went over towards a stereo, using a MP3 player to scroll through some songs. He put on some rap, at a low volume, not wanting to disturb her as she retied her boots... the music was a curious choice.
