Cast of Characters: Grant Ward, Melinda May, Darcy Lewis

Grant Ward has posed:
Performance reviews. They had become something he had quite accustomed too, and yet at the same time in the back of his mind did not even feel he needed to be tested. Yet, when given an order that order is followed. Thus, Agent Grant Ward finds himself in the atheltics area of the Triskelion ready to /perform/. Dresseed in a pair of running pants and a t-shirt that simply has the words /protocol/ wirriten across it in white block lettering, the AGent is already stretching a bit off to the side by himself. Proper stretching and hyrdation is difference between success and failure. He take sa sip from a gallon water jug and resumes streching, waiting for May and Darcy to arrive.

Melinda May has posed:
May arrives promptly, still dressed in her usual SHIELD duty attire. Those who know her well already know why -- she never goes anywhere without at least a few weapons on her person, and they're all concealed under her jacket.

Upon seeing Ward there and already stretching in preparation for the review, she nods a greeting to him and simply moves over to the, oddly enough, hardwood section of the training area. This is different enough from typical protocol to possibly be noteworthy.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
Darcy hates these kinds of performance reviews. She's not built for running or jumping or anything that makes the girls bounce. But, when she got told 'skates' she was gleeful in getting to the gym to change. It takes her longer than most to get ready, so she's the last to arrive, strolling in on flip flops to the bench by the side of the hardwood floor. A lumpy duffle is set on the bench by her hip, and the flipflops traded out for roller skates. Not new, but no longer her old duct taped pair, they are the same bright neon pink as her eyes. She's in athletic gear, and safety gear - elbow pads, knees pads both labeled 187s, and a helmet. Skates on, she rolls toward May while pulling on her wrist guards.

"Hey, May. How's it going?" she chirps out, moving more fluidly on her skates than she does in sensible shoes.

Grant Ward has posed:
It is quite obvious that Grant had no idea who else was going to be part of this perfromance review besides May and himself, and the look on his face is quite priceless when Darcy walks in. The ying to his yang. The pepsi to his coke. The chai latte to his black coffee. There is a head nod given to May, but then his focus is on Darcy and what she is taking from the bag. Are those roller skates? The helmet and the pads she puts on only cause him to quirk his brow even more than it already was and he finds himself walking over to Darcy and May right after Darcy has skated her way.

"You can't be serious? Give me a scenario where this would be practical? Are we going undercover at the local skating rink?" His eyes flash between the two women, looking for some sort of response.

Melinda May has posed:
"Well enough," May replies to Darcy, then turns to look at Grant. "I am serious, and Lewis has already proven that this is a viable combat option for her. And, I will be evaluating your ability to adapt to an unusual adversary." She looks at Darcy again and nods.

"Begin any time you are ready."

Darcy Lewis has posed:
A viable combat option. If May says so. Darcy snickers, rolling a shoulder as she reverses a bit. Distance could equal speed where wheels are concerned.

"Sure thing," she says to May, eyes on Grant. There isn't a fighter's glint in her eyes, but there is a steely sort of detemination, a sense that she's not as afraid as perhaps she should be given her opponent. Then again, Darcy's not known to be afraid of much.

Grant Ward has posed:
They are serious. Grant blinks a few times and shakes his head, murmuring to himself. "Very well. I mean do I get skates?" The question is more rhetorical and he moves in a pisition to begin the assessment. Did she just roll back? A hand goes to rub the back of his neck and he assumes a stance. It is clear that he wants to see exactly how nimble she is on those skates and immedidiatly presses forward in an attmept to sweep her.

"I feel like I am fighting a waitress at Sonic cuz she got my order wrong."

Darcy Lewis has posed:
"Do you even KNOW how to skate?" Darcy fires back, rolling back again as Grant starts to press forward. He sweeps, and connects. Darcy drops backwards, tumbles wheels over ass-cheeks away from him before landing back on her feet. She plants on her toestops and uses them to suddenly seem to spring forward, shoulder aimed for just under his center of balance. May saw her do this before, against Clint. The moment her shoulder impacts, she'll straighten up into her opponent, leveraging them up and over that fulcrum point and sending them sprawling. Barton, if memory serves, ended up in a wall.

"Should I have worn my mini-skirt for you? To complete teh experience?"

Melinda May has posed:
"If you want skates, Ward, I'm sure that can be arranged." May is pretty sure that he would NOT want that in the long run. But then they begin and she watches alertly.

Darcy's snark is very much as expected, and she is watching to see how Ward handles it. Some people can ignore taunts effortlessly. Others, no so much. Clint, the aforementioned example, was so amused by them it made him sloppy.

Grant Ward has posed:
Well that was easy. Well at least he thought it was. He certainly did not want to her, but watching her go over backwards quite clearly warrants the smile on his face. Grant is never one to underestimate anyone. It's when you do that you find yourself in trouble. He could probably tell you exactly where in the SHIELD manual that is if you asked. However, in this instant he certainly unerestimated her abiity on skates and her rapid thrust forward and shoulder planted into his midsection does catch him off guard.

The agent flies backwards, reeling on his heels a moment trying to catch himself before finding himself falling back on his own ass, roling backwards as well to a knelt position and staring back at her. "My Shake was melted." A hand goes to rub his stomach a moment He slowly rises and makes a mental note. "Alright then Speedy...try this."

He starts to move in anticipating a potential backwards skate again, but stops. If it works, when she goes to stop herself and her weight is shifted he will try to step in for a shoulder toss.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
"Aw. Poor baby. You're not getting a refund," Darcy quips back, turning around to face him again.

"May!! This is weird not making a bunch of left-turns," is whined as Darcy watches Grant get back to his feet. The tone is clear: Darcy doesn't know what the point here is, what the goal or the objective. When Grant starts before again, Darcy does roll backwards, lays splaying to slow her down when he stops. It's got her, as he expected, flat-wheeled and able to be grabbed for a throw.

The trouble is that Darcy can be a spider-monkey.

Grabbed, Darcy counters by clinging as Grant spins around her so he can plant and throw her. Yet, while her upper body clings, her feet roll with him, making the act of securing the leverage much more challenging.

"Oh. Hello, beefcake," she says, then goes for complete unconventional since this is not a fight she can win. Darcy licks Grant's forearm. "Tasty."

Grant Ward has posed:
That's the problem with these performance assessments. There is a slight pull back as you are not trying to harm, incapacitate or kill the person across from you. At least that is what Grant is telling himself is the reason he cannot get the upper hand on Miss Friday Night Disco. The toss does not go exactly as planned. She is a little spider monkey and is able to avoid the action. He thought for sure that would work. He had even calculated out her mass in relation to her skating backwards velocity and so forth. What he did not account for was that this girl was better on skates then her own feet.

Did she just lick his arm? Like seriously lick his arm? Not much can fluster Grant Ward. Not much at all. Apparently, Darcy has done her homework because this completely gets in his head. The loo on his face and the immediate jerking back of his arm leaves him temporarily exposed.

Melinda May has posed:
There. Right there she sees how Darcy's completely unconventional distractions successfully knock Ward off balance mentally. And this is why she thought this would be a worthwhile practice for them both. Darcy needs to learn to rely a bit less on her skates, and Ward needs to learn when 'by the book' is more of a hindrance than a help.

She could easily call them both out on what she's seeing, but she wants to see how they handle it.

Darcy Lewis has posed:
Oh. That actually worked. Silly government agents.

Grinning, Darcy bends her knees while keeping her rump against whatever part of Ward it's currently against. There's zero shyness in her action, in what her body might rub against. Knees bent, Darcy plants to her toestops, stopping the rolling about she was doing that kept Ward from finding the right way to toss her. And then she does something that doesn't seem like it's work in a fight. She half straightens while rolling her upper body back to sharply slam her back - at the shoulder blades - against Ward's chest. The force is meant to stumble him back a few steps. If he were on wheels, it carries the threat of putting him to his ass again. The force also rocks her forward and out of his arms.

Darcy lets the momentum make her take two running steps on her toes before she drops to her knees and twists herself to spin half a circle. Facing her opponent again, Darcy's back on her toestops, charging him, looking like she's going to shoulder check him again while he's off balance.

And... she's laughing.

Grant Ward has posed:
Well, let's just say her backside was in a place that Ward usually keeps close tabs on. He was still somewhat stunnded and her action does send him backwards, barely keeping his footing under him. He is still reeling backwards a bit when he sees her charging. His course of action; let himself fall. And that is exactly what he does. Her attack he assumed depended on him being on his feet. However, when he falls back, he backwards rolls and goes to a kneeling postion.

As she comes in, the spinning motion on his knee manages to move him to the side, and her going by him. However, she does not escape going past without a slapped ass spanking on her butt. "I was told you like that." Mind games. He rises to his feet and bekons for her to try again. "Come on. Your other cheek is jealous."

Melinda May has posed:
May's observations are interrupted by the commlink in her ear, so it's at this point that she speaks up. "Enough." She's seen what she was looking for already, after all. They will each, of course, be receiving copies of her review evaluation so they know what she saw as areas for improvement.

"I will schedule to continue the performance review. Until then, do either of you have questions or observations to share?"

Grant Ward has posed:
Ward nods, stopping his stance and exhaling slowly. "Agent Lewis has slight cannabilistic tendencies and owns a buns of steel video."

Darcy Lewis has posed:
Darcy was used to opponents dodging, so Grant's wasn't a shock. She's also used to them being handsy, so she doesn't even squawk at the treatment. She does turn on her wheels, rolling herself in a smooth circle with her toes pointed in opposite directions.

"Oh, wouldn't you love to get your hands all over my a-" "Enough." Darcy stops herself crispy at May's tone, body going lax and calm and no longer poised for action. She turns, rolling a bit, so she can face May, her head canted to teh side at Grant's quip.

"Yup. I love a good meat popcicle, and I own several. If you ask nice, maybe I'll let you borrow one." Then she turns to May.

"Ward needs to loosen the stick in his ass, and can I have the rest of hte day off to go get chili dogs, pizza, beer, and ice cream, Mom?"
