Date of Scene: 26 October 2019
Location: Medical Lab - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Andrea and Sam Guthrie visit Shannon in the medbay. Future plans, love, life and family are discussed. Sam has to go looking for Bean, who has gone AWOL.
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Rage, Cannonball

Nightingale has posed:
Thankfully, it's a quiet afternoon in the medbay. The sound of monitors beeping, and the one and only patient within resting as quietly as possible are all that breaks the serene silence. Well, as serene as one can get, with bandaged burns that are itching like mad while healing! In an effort to distract herself from the discomfort, Shannon's got her phone, some earbuds, and a few of her school books with her on the bed, trying to listen to some music and put her time to good use by studying. It's no mean feat, at this point.

Rage has posed:
Heading into the Medbay is Andrea, dressed in jeans and a baggy sweater. Her brown hair is sprawled out across her shoulder, and there's a red feather tied into a thin braid in it. In her hands she is carrying a box of food and a large mug. "Hey there." She says as she offers up a smile, placing it on the table next to her. "I had some food delivered and I made you some hot chocolate. You doing okay?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon looks up, tugging her earbuds free, and tapping her phone with partially bandaged hands. "If by 'okay', you mean itching like someone soaked me in a tub full if itching powder and left me here without a rinse, then yeah, I'm okay." She offers a lopsided smile, looking like she got a good sunburn, but otherwise her face seems to have escaped major damage. "Hard to say no to some hot cocoa. Thank you!"

Rage has posed:
"I picked some food up for you also. Way better than jello they got here." Andrea jokes. "I'm glad that you're doing okay. I worked with the hospital to cover Winifred's expenses through Starlight." She slides her phone out and lobs a text before she tucks it back into her pocket. "She had no insurance so it would suck to be left with that type of bill. I'm pretty mad about this." She admits as she blows some hair away from her face. "I can't believe someone would do this, to anyone."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, growling softly--an odd sound for the normally less aggressive young mutant. "This is the second time she's been targed for being pro-mutant, too, and the second time I've had to help heal her for it. The first time it was alone, and she was in Metropolis. This one was way, way worse. No way was I going to try it by myself." She smiles grimly. "Someone told me to make a stand, but make sure it wasn't alone. They were very, very much in the right there. I wasn't going to go in without help from Triage this time."

A scowl crosses her face briefly, and she chews her lower lip. "I think we need to get the teachers in on this one, too. Maybe even as high up the food chain as Jean and Scott. The docs there thought she'd be safer with a group of heroes. I couldn't and didn't mention the school or anything, but... nobody should have to live in fear like that, for their beliefs, and acting on them."

Her scowl melts into something of a smile, and she inclines her head. "That was a great thing you did. It'll take some of the burden from her. Thank you for that. But now... what can be done to make sure she stays safe? This is why we need to talk to someone higher up."

Rage has posed:
"Maybe contact SHIELD because they probably have a witness protection program." Andrea says as she pulls up a seat. She feels her pants vibrate again and she glances down at her pocket, then back to her. "They may want to question her also and see what they can do to help out. This is what they're built for."

Taking in a deep breath, she holds it for a moment, then lets it out slowly. "I'm frustrated. So frustrated. Tired. Angry. I just wish there was something that I could do to really help."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and sighs softly. "So do I. As much as I'm glad to be able to help heal... the aftermath is hell. There's got to be a way to prevent being needed like this a third time." She tries to run her fingers through her hair, only to have some of it get caught on the bandages, and come out a tangled mess when she pulls her hand free. "This is why I'm saying we should bump this one on up to the teachers here, they'd have the connections. I mean..." She purses her lips slightly. "There is -one- call I could make, but it'd be extremely bad form to go over the school's collective head like that. So yeah. The sooner we get Jean and Scott in on this one, the better."

Rage has posed:
Nodding her head, Andrea says, "I agree that Mister Summers and Miss Grey should be looped in." She rubs her hands together to warm them a bit. "Hey, when you're all healed up and ready to get out of here, you and I can work on that song together. We are ready to finish production on it and have the back up vocals get mixed in. It'll be a lot of fun. Also, did you want to sing with me at my show at Sam's club? I was thinking since this was mostly a mutant event, I could debut our single and you'd get a chance to sing with me. Sam's family will be there so I was thinking it could give you a chance to shine in front of them."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon blushes and shrugs a little, squirming a bit. "I guess that could work. And ummm... there's something I've been meaning to ask but it's one of those awkward things, ya know? And I don't want it taken wrong." She tries to smile, scratching at the back of her head. And scratching. And scratching some more. "Aaaargh... it itches... -everywhere-!!"

Rage has posed:
Raising her brows up a bit, Andrea looks curious. "Sure, what's up?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Well...." Shannon begins, nodding towards the red feather she sees braided into Andrea's hair. "It doesn't take a psychic to see that Jay's important to you, and it's great to see things going well for him. But... well, Sam's like a brother to me, and I count his family as mine, by extension. I've been wanting to get to know Jay since he arrived, but even a simple 'hello' gets ignored. And I'm not quite sure what to do about it. It'd be nice to get to know another branch of the clan, ya know?"

Rage has posed:
"Jay and I are just friends. We don't get to hang out a lot either since he has double the work load from transferring schools. I guess his old school was considered 'behind' in curriculum. I don't think he's ignoring you on purpose. He has a lot on his mind." Andrea says as she folds one leg over the other. "Sam tell you why he's here, right?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "That's just it, I haven't found out any of that. I got the sense that things were rough for him, but it didn't seem right to pry. Figured it'd come to light when it was time. I'll bug Sam about it when he's in next, 'cause you can bet he'll be in here to chew me out for trying to heal too much again. Probably right before he brings in some of that fried chicken. Which I'm still working on getting the hang of... along with a few other recipes his ma sent along."

Rage has posed:
Chewing on her bottom lip, Andrea says, "Jay was dating a girl back home, who's family hated his. Sorta like Romeo and Juliet. Her father found out, went out and got some Sentinel armor, strapped it on and blew a hole in Jay's chest and killed him. His girlfriend got so upset that she drowned herself without knowing that his powers would ... bring him back to life, regenerate. He woke up and found his girlfriend dead. It was really traumatic for him. He's .. tried to kill himself several times unsuccessfully since his powers won't let him." She says softly to her. "That's why he is here. His mother can't help him. He needs to be around Sam for emotional support. Right now, he's in a really bad spot. He's distant to everyone and I'm lucky enough for him to open up to me about this. We're just taking .. whatever this is, really slow, as he heals. I do like him, but he needs to get fixed first before anything else. So, just be patient with him. He'll come around and open up when he's ready." She wrings her hands a bit together nervously.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods slowly. "Okay, it makes some more sense now. I was thinking of making him some apple brown betty from his ma's recipe... do you think that'd be okay? Hopefully it wouldn't upset him instead....?"

Rage has posed:
"No, it won't upset him I don't think. He loves his Ma's food. Just know he probably won't 'adopt' you like Sam did. At least not right away. I don't know. He and Sam are really different people, and what Jay went through was horrific. I honestly don't think he's ignoring you. I think he's just not focused." Andrea slips her phone out again as it vibes, then taps the glass with her thumbs gently. "I'm flying his whole family out to see the show, partly so that you'd have a chance to spend time with them. I'm not flying them out for my benefit. I just want Jay to be happy, and I figured it'd give you a chance to be happy also."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods a little bit, and cracks a small smile. "It would. It's just my mom, dad, and me. No siblings. Almost had five, but they all were miscarried or lost to crib death. Two sets of twins, one singleton. I'm the only one that lived. So... whatever family I can find is a blessing."

She looks towards the box Andrea brought in and grins a bit lopsidedly. "Whatcha bring in? Enough for both of us, I hope?"

Rage has posed:
"I already ate, but I had some Panera delivered. Got you a turkey sandwich and a veggie sandwich. I couldn't remember if you were a vegetarian on the sly and only made chicken for Sam, or if you liked meat too. So I figured I'd get you one of each. There's some baked chips in there too, a cookie and a couple of pickles." Andrea says with a grin. "I'm an only child. My mom couldn't have kids after me. She lost an ovary and a half to tumors they found when she got pregnant. So really you guys are all my family."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon perks up a little bit at the mention of Panera. "Oh... my gawd. They make some of the /best/ sandwiches! Yeah I do eat meat, but the veggies will help too. High protein and high calcium will speed up healing. So turkey was an excellent call. Thank you so much!" The box is opened, and the turkey sandwich all but attacked. "Holy frak, this is /good/!"

Rage has posed:
"Cool beans, glad you like it." Andrea grins as she taps along the glass of her phone a few more times before she puts it face down on the table next to her. "I had a Mac and Cheese bread bowl earlier from them with broccoli. Today is my cheat day on the diet, as long as I don't overdo it. Gotta make sure I fit into my outfits for the show." She giggles, tucking her hair back behind her ear. "I hope this third album is going to be a success. I'm nervous about it, especially with all of this ramped up anti mutant stuff."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, silent for a few minutes but for the sound of munching away on the turkey sandwich. "Well, Triage and I gave the Friends of Humanity the middle finger last night. Damn, that felt good. Now we've just gotta bump this up the food chain and see what happens."

Rage has posed:
"I'm just glad you two saved her life. That's incredible." Andrea says with a proud smile on her face. "What do we know about her? She's just a random citizen who got unlucky twice now?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Well, the first time she was targeted, it was for saving the lives of four mutant kids. Sentinels took a potshot at her. That was messy to heal, too. Looks like the Friends of Humanity decided to try to rub her out a second time. Failed then, too." Shannon just smirks a little, finishing off the turkey sandwich and reaching for the cocoa. "Beyond that, I don't know much about her. She's a normal human, sticking up for us mutants. That... well, that right there is a real hero."

Rage has posed:
"She really is a hero. I wonder if she has mutants in her family or she's just a super nice person. Maybe we can deliver her a gift basket or some flowers." Andrea hums in her throat.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles, and tilts her head slightly. "That'd be fantastic. Heck, maybe you could sing for her, too. Let's face it, you've got pipes most anyone would envy and I could never even come close to." She opens the baked chips and grins, offering the bag to Andrea. "Come on... it's cheat day, and the calories don't count if someone shares them with you."

Rage has posed:
Andrea reaches over and plucks a chip out of the bag. "I could do that. Maybe I can record a message for her. That'd be cute." Taking a bite with a loud crunch, she chews twice, swallows, then furrows her brows. "Should probably talk to Sam about security at the club for the show. With so many people there, I'd hate for us to be a target."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon scratches the back of her head again, and coughs lightly. "Yeah... speaking of security, ummm... well, Bean was in here and kinda knows what happened. And he's really protective. So I should probably give Sam a heads up about that..."

Rage has posed:
"Maybe." Andrea says as she gives another glance to her phone. "... or maybe something needs to happen so they understand we won't allow ourselves to be easy targets anymore." She says as she chews her bottom lip for a moment.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Yeah that's a thought too, but going off half-baked isn't going to help matters any, either." She nibbles on her lower lip for a moment, frowning slightly. "Part of me just wants those sum'beaches to suffer, you know? Really suffer. But my better angel is telling me 'you're better than that'."

Rage has posed:
"I'll talk to him then and see where his head is at." Andrea says as she pushes up to her feet. "If he decides to go out and do something stupid, at least he'll have back up." She finishes the chip and picks her phone up again, sending another text as she glances at it.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon chuckles softly and nods. "If he does go off and try something, well, I sure don't envy his targets. And... speaking of Sam's... I hear you set Cannonball up with a date? You sly thing, you."

Rage has posed:
"Ha. Yeah. I sorta slipped that in there because he kinda showing some signs of interest, and I decided to ram it in there like a semi truck. She recognized me, and I decided to be a celebrity wingman." Andrea laughs softly. "I didn't think anything would come of it, but she went for it."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon rolls her eyes and chuckles. "Well, the fried chicken netted him a lil' sis in the end, so who knows. It'd be nice to see him happy, but it's gonna suck that he may wind up not being around here so much. Guess I've gotten a little bit spoiled."

Rage has posed:
"I heard. He and Doug and Berto may do a bachelor pad. I think it's great for him. Teachers need separation from their students. We take up far too much of their time as it is that they neglect things like dating, or having time to themselves. I hope it works out and he starts spending his weekends with cute girls and small vacations." Andrea smiles as she heads over to snag a cup of water from a sink.

Nightingale has posed:
"Still going to miss him, though." Shannon settles back on the bed somewhat, nibbling on the cookie from the Panera box. She's got bandages enough to possibly pass for a mummy, though it seems at least part of her hands and her face have escaped major damage. "One of these days, maybe I'll be that lucky. I'm probably going to wind up staying on here as a teacher and a doctor myself. What about you? Have you given any thought to any of that?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Will come to the door to the med lab and knock softly "Everyone decent in here?" He knows if not they probably would have the curtains pulled, but he was taught to be all gentlemanly. "Heard someone has decided she missed her room here?""

Rage has posed:
"Yeah, I'm going to graduate high school and then go to NYU on a full ride in the Music and Arts department. Going into theater production. I'm already accepted and with my grades and honors courses, I was a lock. I got accepted to a few places out of stage, even one in France, but I wanted to stay close to here." Andrea says with a grin, then looks over to Sam. "Yeah, we're not skinny dipping in here." She calls out teasingly.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon giggles a little, calling out, "Just trying on my new mummy costume for Halloween... want to see?" Yeah. Not quite, but hey, it made a good excuse, right? "Come on in, we're decent!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will walk in and today actually did not bring food instead just himself, and speaking of mummys there is a build a bear mummy "Here, got ya this figured maybe if you put him in your room you might prefer to spend time up there than down here." He offers Shannon the bear. "Oh your a real help." He smirks a bit at Andrea.

Rage has posed:
"Love you." Andrea teases Sam with a wink. "Anyways, I should get going and work on some stuff so you two can catch up." She says as she gives a tug of her sweater shoulder. "I have a few calls to make, one of which is back home to my parents. I'm glad you like the food, Shan and that you're feeling well."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles and chuckles a bit. "Thank you for the good eats and the company, Andrea. Some things make a bit more sense now. We're definitely going to have to practice that song. I'm not giving up on music just for other things, like being a teacher and a doctor."

She rolls her eyes at Sam and laughs lightly, hugging the teddy bear. "Trust me, I don't exactly enjoy coming down here. But to give the Friends of Humanity the middle finger, it was worth it."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to Andrea, and wonders for a moment if he should be happy or worried that girl is looking to date his brother probably both. He turns to Shannon "Wanted to talk to you about that. All for helping this lady, but you may have made her even more of a target.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "That's crossed my mind. The docs there were hoping she could stay with a group of heroes till all this dies down. I couldn't promise anything, or mention the school, but I said I'd ask some questions and see what happened." She sighs a little bit, settling back into the bed. "Andrea and I both think this one should get bumped up the food chain, it's way out of our wheelhouse."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit to this and says "Mentioned it to any of the higher ups, or am I the first step up the chain?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head a little bit. "None of the higher ups have been down here for me to even talk to or I would have. You're the first one. I'd almost venture to say bump this one right up to the top if necessary. Especially where it could involve the security of the school."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Sorta what I am thinking, we have had a few non mutants work here and with us in the past. So tell me what you know about her?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "Very little. The first time I met her was at the hospital in Metropolis, after she got sent there helping those four mutant kids. Mr. McCoy called me in for that one. Didn't meet up with her again till last night. About all I know is that she's a normal human, and she's very pro-mutant. Beyond that, I don't know. That's why I think someone higher up should look into this."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Do you know if the hospital plans on keeping her for a day or two while they make sure she is ok, and see if anyone can take her in?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "I can't imagine otherwise, but if someone could call and find out that'd be a good idea. They sounded really concerned for her safety, especially since she was targeted twice now, both with pretty ugly results. Next time she may not be so lucky as to have Triage or I there."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie pulls out his phone and keys up the hospitals number "Ask for her, let her know I am going to try to come talk to her later today

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, taking the phone, and letting it ring. "Hello, I was wondering about the lady who was in the ICU yesterday... is she still there?" She rolls her eyes, and one can only guess that the hospital staff is stonewalling. "I understand, patient confidentiality and all that. It's just that well... tried to help her a little, wanted to see how she's doing." Yeah, that gets their attention. It seems the whole healing process caused something of a fuss in the ICU. After a few moments, Shannon nods, and frowns a bit. "Thanks, I appreciate the update." She hangs up, rolling her eyes. "Looks like she's out of the hospital, but not sure where she's gone. I'm tempted to try texting Triage and see if he's heard anything."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Well that sorta sucks. Might be able to find out information on her online, but that would be the same the friends could get. Maybe take alek or Sam down tot he hospital for information.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods and grimaces slightly. "Ummm, Bean /might/ have been in here last night when I first got in, and he /might/ have an idea what happened... and he /might/ be in 'protect Shannon' mode...."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie frowns and says "You think he is going after the friends or Winifried?"

Nightingale has posed:
"The Friends of Humanity. I tried to discourage him from going out alone, to include you or someone else in whatever plans he may have, but I'm not sure how well it worked...."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie takes his phone and dials a number to call sam

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie frowns a bit and says "He aint answering the phone, try yours?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon frowns slightly, and sends a text message to Bean. "Something tells me he might have gone looking for trouble, possibly found it."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie frowns a bit at this and Ok, tell me anything you think he might know." He crosses his arms not seeming to happy

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "He saw the news broadcast, I talked about both healings, and that was that. The whole thing happened in Harlem, so that might be a place to start looking for him."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon sighs with relief as her phone goes off, and she reads the message. "It's Bean. He's responded. Just says he's fine and wants to know what's wrong."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "Tell him, I need to talk to him, and I said do not do anything alone."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and starts tapping out a text message. "I'll also ask him to report to you, at least with a message." She frowns a bit. "My fingers might be free but this is still awkward as hell...."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit to this and says "Ah swear he is going to turn me grey."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs a little bit, trying to imagine Sam with gray hair. "Oh, I don't know, I think you'd rock the dad look pretty well there."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie 's phone rings and he answers it. "Sam he mouths

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods and keeps quiet, listening in. She has her fingers crossed, or tries to, and has a worried expression on her face. "I've got a bad feeling about this," she mouths back.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie frowns a bit as he talks to the other and seems to be getting upset.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie frowns and says "Ok, well looks like I gotta go find Sam, You stay here and rest I will be back soon.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods. "Please, be safe... bring him home? Good friends like that are hard to find."
