Date of Scene: 02 November 2019

Synopsis: People come, people go. Smores are made, hot dogs are eaten, and good times are had by all.
Cast of Characters: Gambit, Dazzler, Beast, Jubilee, Nightingale, Triage

Gambit has posed:
It all started because Remy was out of cigarettes. He walked down to the local convenience store to buy a pack and noticed a large stack of shipping palets with a sign that read "Free to whoever wants them. Great for Firewood." Make a pretty lil bonfire Remy noted, then headed inside... and passed a large display of Stay-puffed marshmallows. ... Well now it's three hours and two truck loads later, and the Cajun has them stacked in a cone, splashed with just a bit of kerosene... and sent out a school wide announcement that there will be a bonfire party down by the lake... if anyone wants to come.

Dazzler has posed:
Having recently returned from whatever jaunt she recently went on, a party down by the lake might just be exactly the thing needed. Thus, in walks Dazzler. Rather, she heads towards the lake and the site of what is clearly going to be a very epic bonfire, a guitar slung across her back and a relaxed sort of demeanor settled across her shoulders.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy hears about that, and well, it's after hours, so he changes his clothes and gets to work. He loads up two big coolers, and brings them both out. One with cokes, one with beers. Then with a slute to Remy as he's setting up, he goes back in, and comes back out with stacks of hot dogs, buns, and some sharp poles. Plenty poles.

Jubilee has posed:
Following after Dazzler is Jubilee, who is wearing a pair of stretchy denim jeans, a hot pink shirt and a long half yellow trench coat. "Okay Dazzy Daz, you gotta tell me alllll about your world traveling." She says as she trudges along, causing her index finger to glow brightly in a shower of light to lead the way towards the bonfire. "Can you believe I'm a guidance counselor?" She drawls out to her.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins as Hank brings out the refreshments. He was just thinking of going back to the boat house to fetch his radio for tunes when (one of) the schools resident singing sensations arrives with her guitar. "'Ey dare chere. 'Ey Jubilee. Yah girls 'ere foh de party?" he asks with a grin. He pinches a playing card between his fingers, but rather then turn bright pink, it glows...well dark pink. He gives the card a gently flick and it flies over to the palettes. It rests there for just a moment then ignites into a small flame... which then finds the kerosene and...well ...WHOOSH!

Dazzler has posed:
"Out. Of. This. World." Dazzler replies with a laugh, glancing over her shoulder at Jubilee before she slows down enough for the other girl to catch up to her, "So there was this ah-mah-ziiing..." She starts, only to have her story trail off when Remy greets them, flashing a smile, "We were thinking we'd come by, see how the party shaped up." A hand is lifted, fingers waggling in Hank's direction in greeting.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy grabs a stick, and gets a few hotdogs skewered onto it for himself. "Hey Daz, Jub. Plenty of beverages." When Remy lights the fire, he claps loudly. "Better be careful of my fur..." he chuckles before hodling the pole way out to start cooking.

Jubilee has posed:
"Notice how he calls you chere and he calls me Jubes?" Jubilee says to Dazzler with a smirk on her face as she tips a wink at her. "Okay, so, hold that thought then, because later tonight I wanna hear about this aaaahmaaazing time you had." She grins and heads over to the group, reaching out to give Hank a hug, ruffling his chest fur with a wiggle of her fingers. "Hey Cookie Monster. Hey Cajun." She flops down on to a log and stretches herself out, then throws a firework into the bonfire to help light the fuse.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins "Ah stopped callin' yah petie didn' Ah. Consider it progress." He tells Jubilee with a grin, moving to take a skewer and hotdog, as well as a beer from the cooler. There are still plenty of pallets to sit on, and so the Cajun does so. "Figure de way de weather is dis far nort', could 'ave snow any day now, even if it's seventy tomorrow. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts non?" He grins at Dazzler, "Yah gonna give us a concert chere?" he asks with a wicked grin.

Dazzler has posed:
"You know, I've a theory about this." Dazzler points out to Jubilee as she moves to find herself a seat as well, pulling the guitar around to settle it into her lap. She curls one arm across it, idly strumming the cords as she glances around at the group that has gathered, considering the answer for a moment before she nods, "He calls them chere because it saves him from calling them by the wrong name. It means something that he remembers your name...take it like that."

As for singing something, she nods, "I'll take a request or two."

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy looks over to Jub as she gets teased, and he grins. He grabs a second pole, loads it with marshmallows, then swings his arm around to gobble up Jubilee. "Cmere and help me cook this stuff up," he laughs. Walking her over, he grabs a seat hoping she'll be guided to sit with him. "Requests?" he'll then perk up. "With winter looming, how about Hammer to Fall?"

Jubilee has posed:
"Yeah, it means I got a flat chest." Jubilee says to Dazzler with a grin in her direction as she is plucked up by the Beast and carried around. With a laugh, she settles in next to him once put down, leaning into him as she reaches out to pluck a hotdog and sticks it on a skewer. "Yeah, yeah, I'll help you cook. Um... I'm into whatever. Play what you want, Dazz."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins a little bit and sticks his tounge out at Jubilee. "Well dey do get so annoyed when yah call dem de wrong t'ing. Jus' ask Melissa... or was dat Bridgett?" he says with a grin, trying to hold the hot dog close enough to cook, without burning it. "As long as it's not Disco, Ah don' care.."

Dazzler has posed:
"Hmm." Dazzler replies to Hank's suggestion, her fingers slowly strumming the guitar before she starts to adjust the tune of it, glancing at Jubilee with a shake of her head in amusement. But then she starts to sing, the song a lot slower paced then it's original composition has it, "Yeah. Here we stand or here we fall history won't care at all. Make the bed, light the light." As the first l in light is uttered she adds a very low-key light show to things, sending out twinkling stars above everyone's head. "Lady Mercy won't be home tonight."

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy goes quiet. One hand on his line of hot dogs, the other patting Jubilee's shoulder. Letting Dazzler perform, he smiles and nods to the music.

Jubilee has posed:
As she twirls the hot dog in the fire, Jubilee smiles as she leans against Hank's shoulder. Once it's cooked, she pops it into a bun, then on to a plate as she slides it over to Dazzler. Listening, she smiles happily as she reaches for another dog.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau too is quiet, letting the young woman's sog fill the night air with her gutar and the crackling roar of the bonfire for accompanyment. He slips his own dog off of the stick and eats it without a bun (who needs all those carbs?) grinning slightly and staring out across the water for just a bit."

Dazzler has posed:
There is only one Freddie Mercury, only ever will be one. Which might explain why the song is different, sung differently. She's paying tribute, but not trying to copy the exact song. When it comes to a close her fingers slide off the strings, and Dazzler offers the group a smile before getting to her feet, "Alright, watch my guitar. I need to take a tiny pit stop before song number two."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau points over in the direction of the boat house, "Door is unlocked, secon' door on de left." He says with a bit of a grin.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy finally joins Jubilee in bunning up his food. Grabbing two cokes. One set down for Jub if she wants it. "I can tell I'm old when half the time Idon't reach for the beer."

Jubilee has posed:
"I'll be snagging a beer." Jubilee laughs as she reaches for a cold one and cracks it open. She clinks it against Hank's soda, then takes a long sip. No longer a girl, this one. But she's still tiny!

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins a bit at Hank, "yah not dat 'old. Fact Ah decided last week, dat Ah'm not gonna drink any more mahself." He then takes a long slow pull off his beer before adding "Decided Ah wasn't gonna drink any less eit'er of course..""

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy thumbs up to Remy, putting down his coke long enough to approve of the comment. "We do dangerous things. A bit of drink is the last of our problems." He pats Jubilee's hand after she opens her beer, and nods approvingly. "I might have one later."

Jubilee has posed:
"Have some of mine, Cookie." Jubilee says as she passes her can to Hank. She gives the top of his leg a playful patting. "I've missed this. Just hanging out and being normal and not shot down by purple robots or bad guy super teams. We should get a softball game going again some day."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins just a little bit at that, "Ah'm just imagining a game of full power softball now. Imagine Stormy pitching a ball wit' de force of a tornado be'ind it?" he asks with an amused grin sipping his own beer and sticking a few marshmallows on skewer, setting it on a prop and fishing out the grahmn crackers and chocolate...

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy laughs. "Funny you say that, Remy. I was talking with the owner of the Reveres. His son's 5, and his son's a mutant in a very socially uncomfortable way. So I'm connecting him with the X Corp, doing some tutoring, and we're going to try to get a mutants and pros X Bowl going after the Pro Bowl. Jubilee's offer wins her a peck on the cheek

Nightingale has posed:
If you build it, they will come. So goes the classic line from pop culture history. In this case, the 'it' was a bonfire. And the 'they' was a familiar winged figure, landing nearby and ambling on over to join in the gathering. For the moment, she remains on the fringes, her face caught between shadow and firelight, but in the darkness, her snowy white wings stand right out. She smiles, seeing that the idea talked about with Remy had not been forgotten after all. It would be good to just relax for a little while. She's dressed in a Tweety Bird t-shirt, with the cartoon character dressed like a hippie and giving the 'peace' sign, straight-legged light blue jeans, and her worn white sneakers.

Jubilee has posed:
Laughing, Jubilee squirms at the smooch to her cheek. "Whiskers!" She says, giving a few playful swats towards the shoulder of Hank, then takes her beer back for another sip. "We've had plenty of baseball games here over the years. We're just due for another big one. That or kickball. Something that is a bit less hurty."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins a little bit, "Yah know what Ah t'ought de first time Ah evah saw de Danger Room?" he asks taking his mashmellow out of the fire... then trying to blow the fire off of the mashmellow. He finally gets it out, and shrugging begins making his Smores. "Ah t'ought ta maheself, Remy... Ah always call mahself Remy, makes me clear who Ah'm talkin' to. Ah said Remy, dis woul' be a fantastic place ta play Cature de flag." The Cajun shrugs, "Nevah mentioned it foh, cause it seemed kinda silly at de time."

Triage has posed:
Chris could not arrive as quickly as Shannon, but he has compensated with goodies. He settles a backpack on the ground. From various compartments, he produces more graham crackers, marshmallows, and bars of chocolate to replenish the supply. He looks over to Remy from his unpacking. "How can it be silly? Kids play it but that doesn't mean that it's only for kids. Think about military with war games. That's nothing but capture the flag for adults." He waves to the others and offers, "I brougth more supplies in case we run low."

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy kicks back, now leisurely eating a mix of dinner and dessert, whatever he feels like for any given bite. Jubilee is held close, sipping, nibbling. "This is nice. The football will be nice, but this is nice."

Nightingale has posed:
"At least you had a coherent thought when you saw it for the first time, Remy," Shannon chimes in, chuckling lightly. She hooks her thumbs in the pockets of her jeans, sidling a bit closer to the flames. "Me, I was just kind of in a daze. It was just a few days after I got here. Maybe someday, I'll figure out if there were actual thoughts in there or not, beyond an 'Okay, let's do this'." She grins at Remy, inclining her head towards the Cajun. "And just why couldn't a Capture The Flag game happen, monsieur?" She switches to French briefly, laughing, an impish gleam in her eyes. "Unless you think you can't keep up...?" Oh, my. Had the gauntlet been thrown down?

Chris' arrival is greeted with a smile and a wave, the young healer ruffling her wings slightly. "Okay, you are officially the one due for wings and a halo there, Chris. A bonfire isn't a bonfire without s'mores!"

Jubilee has posed:
Giving a bump of her shoulder against Hank's chest, Jubilee grins at her fuzzy best friend, then pushes herself up to her feet. "I'm going to make sure Dazz' didn't fall in and hit the el bano myself. I got papers to grade." She takes another long chug of the beer, then lifts a hand to wave to the approaching kids before she starts off down the path, using her hand as a flash light as it crackles.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau calls "Night Petie," is a tone of playful teasing to the young Asian woman's back, then grins at Shanon, "Chere, be careful what yah wish foh. Yah migh' t'ink dose pretty lil wings of yah's give yah an advantage, but Ole Remy was doin' de whole one wit' de night bit 'fore yah were a gleam in yah mamma's eyes."

Triage has posed:
Chris stands from unpacking his loot and grins to Shannon. "I was sure that the teachers would have some but you shouldn't run out of ingredients for S'mores. He looks toward Jubilee's retreating form and frowns. "I hope that she's feeling well. Missing S'mores to grade papers isn't exactly a sign of sanity." He grins. Then he looks around the site. "Are we the only ones to answer that call to camaraderie?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon bursts out laughing, and shakes her head, eyes twinkling. "Oh please, monsieur. This gleam in her mamma's eye is a survivor. And you said it yourself. /Old/." Sticking her tongue out at Remy, she giggles and turns to the task of helping Chris with the loot. "Her loss, unfortunately. Our gain. Come on... you think the students could take on the teachers in a game of Capture the Flag?"

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau snorts just a little bit, "Chere yah couldn' take de teachers if we gave yah a two ta one advantage." He considers a bit and makes another smores... "Actully now dat Ah t'ink on it, maybe Ah run dat idea by Scott. Could be fun way ta test all our skills. Pretty sure Rogue pluck yah feat'ers 'owevah..."

Triage has posed:
Chris looks at the fire and then hands ingredients to Shannon. "Don't do it, Shannon. It's a trap!" he warns, but grinning, knowing that Remy's taunt is part of the fun. "If we have that game, we should do it soon," he adds more seriously. "Winter is coming. Unless you want a snowball fight, no one will have long to prepare, Also, there are holidays around the corner." He steps closer to Shannnon to take one of the sticks and a marshmallow. "These should start things off nicely."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs. "She may or may not pluck my feathers, but the whole idea is to have fun. And I think with all the bullshit we've been through lately, we /need/ that fun, badly. Screw testing skills, let's just cut loose and enjoy the game." With a bit of a wink, she grins and switches to French again. "Laissez les bon temps roulez."

The young woman grins, finding the sticks that were already set aside by Hank, and also... "Oh... yum... franks!" Forget s'mores for a moment, protein was the order of the day! She's quick to set aside the sweets, to spear several tubes of mystery meat onto a stick; finding a spot near the fire, she settles down to roast her tasty treat. "So... think it's on, then? Capture the Flag, teachers versus students?"
