A Night at the Roc... Errr Club Evolution.
Date of Scene: 06 November 2019
Location: Club Evolution, Mutant Town
Synopsis: Music plans and romance plans are made
Cast of Characters: Cannonball, Nightingale, Prismatic, Dazzler, Triage

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is out at the club tonight, the doors having just opened a bit ago so pretty empty still for now. He offered anyone from the club who wanted to come out for a while tonight they could. He made a special invite to Alison to have her come see the club on one of the non peak nights. And even sent Alexis a text telling her to come by the club, maybe someone there she might like to meet.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon slips into the club, thinking perhaps she might /just/ miss the opening and have a clear shot at the keyboard. Alas, the doors are open for business, and she frowns a little. Sheet music in hand, she finds a spot at the bar to get some root beer, and study the pages in front of her for now.

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis had responded with simply 'Good Timing!', and had shown up at the club doors, she was dressed tonight in the finest of the fashions of yesteryear, the simple Little Black Dress.

Knee length, and wearing an understated pair of black pumps, the simple long-sleeved dressshows a little of her olive skintones at her shoulders and back, her hair coiled dup in an elegant bun and pinned with little black (glass) gemstones set into a comb.

Dazzler has posed:
Club. That means that there is a required code of dress, doesn't it? There are certain situation where someone might blend and go unnnoticed, this isn't one of them.

When Alison arrives she's sporting a short black dress, heels, her hair done, and make-up...as the kids these days say...on fleek.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie is wearing one of his nice purple dress shirts and black dress pants. It is almost uniform for him here at the club. He is at the end of the bar and offers Shannon a smile and nod, and is about to say something but then Alexis comes in and he stops talking and looks over to the door and softly whistles. He smiles over at her, and stands to make sure she sees him, which also makes him rather easy to find for Dazzler as well.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon glances up as she hears Sam whistling, and looks over towards the door. A silvery giggle escapes her as she sees just who is coming in, her eyes twinkling with mirth. She peers right back at Sam, and makes goofy kissing sounds, her wings fluttering behind her. For her part, she is dressed in a long, cream-colored tunic sweater with a classic cable-knit pattern, long dark blue jeans, and knee-length caramel suede boots. Perhaps not 'elegant' in the same sense that Alexis' garb is, but certainly a step up from 'bumming around the house' casual. "Hey there, big brother!"

Prismatic has posed:
"I heard that." Alexis states with an amused tone of voice, and she takes a seat at the bar next to Shannon, giving a wave to Sam with a roll of her eyes.

"Did I miss your warm ups?" she inquires to Shannon, though it was a certain other black dress clad girl that caught her eyes, and she purses her lips, and appears uncomfortable for a moment, before turning back to Shannon.

"I like your sweater, looks nice and warm. I'll /trade/." she jokes.

Dazzler has posed:
Easy to find, certainly. Dazzler lets her attention slide across the club, and those that might have dropped in early, taking note of faces. Any turned towards her, everyone is greeted by the same bright smile, but she doesn't make an approach to anyone until she does spot Sam. It's that direction that she heads, her smile brightening just a little more, but turning towards something a little more familiar, less professional star, more...the Alison beneath.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will move to give Alexis a hug and says your looking wonderful tonight." he will tell Alexis giving Shannon the big brother look for a moment, and as Alison gets close. He will smile and says "Alison, Ah am glad you could make it, you know Shannon?" He motions towards the young lady and then says "And the lovely lady here is Alexis Carr, a close friend of mine, who teaches music locally." He looks over and says "And this is Alison Blaire, also know as Dazzler, a friend of mine."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just gives Sam the giggly, 'little sister' look, extending one wing to swat him playfully--and very gently--on the back. She smiles at Alexis, and giggles, eyes twinkling. "Ha, if I had the figure for that dress like you do, I'd gladly trade." With that, her attention turns to Alison, and she tilts her head. "I've heard the name about at... 'home'... but never could put a face to it. Nice to finally meet you." She offers her hand, smiling; on the bar in front of her are some pages of sheet music, the first two pages of which are already littered with various notations in pencil and sometimes hot pink ink.

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives a little smile, leaning over the bar a bit so that the hug is better balanced, and she stands straight as she looks to Shannon "You could pull it off. Maybe in a couple of years." she replies as she pats Shannon on the shoulder, and then she offers a hand to Alison.

"Good evening, Ms. Blaire, it's nice to meet your acquaintence!"

Dazzler has posed:
"'ey Sam." Alison replies before she glances towards each person as they are introduced, "Pleased to meet you both as well." She glances at the hands offered, reaching out to take first the one then the other, her smile warming just a bit more, "I hope I'm not interrupting your night or anything?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and will move to walk around the bar to talk with the three and says "Shannon is one of the students at the school, and Alexis, will be coming out to get to see what I do besides run this place. " He will smile and says "Alison here will hopefully be playing here one night and giving the folks a thrill when she does." he tells them

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs and grins at Sam. "Better her than me. You get -one- song out of me. After that, we'll see. And even that's going to be at least a week, possibly two, depending on how much practice I can get in." Her brows do furrow slightly, and she dips her head a little bit, murmuring something under her breath.

Triage has posed:
Chris steps into the club and pauses near the door for a moment to scan the room. After noting the basic layout, he strolls further within. Sam's movement catches his eye and he lifts a hand to wave to him and his companions. He approaches the bar and asks, "Room for one more?"

Prismatic has posed:
"Ah, clever booking." Alexis eplies to the three, leaning against the bar. She doesn't order alcohol, and she looks to the new gentleman, pursing her lips a moment before she gives a smile. "Another friend of yours, Sam?" she inquires, reaching to offer a handshake to Chris. "Good evening, don't beleive we've met?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie leans over to whisper something to Shannon offering her a smile, and then moves to put an arm around Alexis as he moves to stand behind her "Yes Chris is another friend it is good to be the guy who runs the club." He tells her to the mel brooks rythm of its good to be the king.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon opens her mouth to introduce Chris, but Sam's already handled the matter. So she just closes her mouth again and smiles, sitting back on her stool and sipping a tall glass of root beer. She's not blind to the cadence of Sam's words, and she snickers softly. "Call the locksmith?" Her wings come up to shield herself and she ducks out of the way, giggling madly.

Triage has posed:
"It's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am," Chris answers while he reaches to accept the handshake. "I've heard hints about you, all good," he adds. "Quite a few of us have learned to rely on Sam for good advice and help in tough situations." Then he glances to Shannon and smiles after she whispers something to him. "How's the root beer?" he asks. "I'd be glad for a glass of that."

Prismatic has posed:
"Careful, I know where I can find a guillatine this time of year." Alexis comments breezily to Sam, and accepts Chris's handshake. She gives a firm shake, and a friendly smile.

"Mostly lies and the blinders of young love, I'm sure." she replies to Chris.

"It seems like you know pretty much everyone who walks through those doors, Sam. Is there a friend you haven't met?"

Dazzler has posed:
"I'm certainly hoping to, yes." Alison replies with a laugh when Sam mentions her singing at the club, her eyes shifting towards towards Chris to offer him a smile as well before she wonders, her question directed in Shannon's direction, "Why only one song?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit at Shannon and lets her answer this one to alexis, he says "Well the more people you know the better when working at a club, just gotta make sure I limit who I give free drinks to.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs softly and inclines her head somewhat in answer to Alexis' question. "Only god knows the answer to that one. Well, I mean, he technically hasn't met Byron yet, but then again, I only just ran into him here a couple days ago myself. So I suppose that counts?"

She shifts on her stool somewhat, her fingers curled about the chilly, mist-kissed glass as she turns to peer over at Alison. "Because, quite frankly, I reek. I don't think the ears here could handle more than one song from me. But it was either one song or I'd be badgered from here to kingdom come, so if ears bleed that night, be it on Sam's head." She chuckles softly, offering a self-depreciating grin.

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis sits back down. She narrows her gaze at Shannon, and she lets out a breath, steepling her fingers a moment as Shannon exclaims that she has no talent.

"Shannon, every time you say something negative about yourself I am going to start pinching you. Trust me when I say that you have talent. Maybe need a little polishing, but I swear upon this bar stool and your friends that I will pinch you. Like a little crab."

Triage has posed:
"If they're lies and blinders of young love, you should blame Shannon. She told me," Chris explains. Then he smirks at Shannon's answer about the choice of one song. "Don't believe that," he counters. "Shannon isn't the type to inflict that level of damage on innocent people. No ears will bleed, and some might leave here feeling a bit better about themselves after hearing the song that she chose."

Dazzler has posed:
"I don't know from first hand experience, but I somehow can't imagine that Sam would invite you to sing if you were terrible." Alison points out with a shake of her head, then she glances at Chris and Alexis when they both chime in. A gesture is lightly made in their direction, as though she were attempting to point out how many clearly disagree with Shannon's self-assessment.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie just smirks a bit more at the other's comments not having to say anything himself it seems. He rubs Alexis's back a bit and says "My lady piss pinch a lot." He grins and looks over to Alison and says "So want to do big announced show or spur of the moment stuff?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon throws up her hands in defeat. "You're just not going to let this rest till I prove it, are you, Alexis? FINE... but don't say I didn't warn you!" Pushing herself off of the stool, she stalks towards the stage, grumbling under her breath. She does, however, look to make sure that there is nobody there currently, and glances to Sam for confirmation. This is, after all, his place, and it's not exactly off-hours sound checks.

Triage has posed:
Chris bites his bottom lip when Shannon storms toward the stage, more like a fighter looking to punch something than an eager musician. He sighs and glances to the others. Lowering his voice, he murmurs to them, "She's a bit nervous about it." Then he mouths something to her.

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis straightens up slightly as Sam rubs at her back, and she delivers a playful look up to him, sweeping imaginary hair about before she reaches up and -- PINCHES HIS CHEEK. Like an old lady aunt!

"I'll be there in case she gets stage fright." she states gently, and she goes over to the stage, following Shannon.

Dazzler has posed:
"Hmm." Alison replies as she lets her attention trail after Shannon, then Alexis, as they head towards the stage. She seems like she might just not answer before glancing back towards Sam, refocusing, "Announced I think. Maybe something in the next week or two?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over watcing the two ladies, and grins a bit more "Ok will keep that in mind and soon as your ready."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon takes the stage as if she /owns/ it, a winged lioness claiming her territory. Nervous, she is not. Ready to let someone have it, she is. This would surely settle once and for all the matter of talent. And there is one song she can go into cold. No pages, no warm-up, no band to back her up. Just the keyboard, her hands, a powerful, driving beat, and potent chords in a minor key, a cry of desperation into the aether.

"Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the streetwise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight
Upon a fiery steed?
Late at night, I toss and I turn
And I dream of what I need..."

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis is standing near the stage as Shannon takes it over, she would watch as the incredibly brave girl takes her place at the keyboard and starts in on a simply classic lament from the 1980's.

"... Nice Choice." she confirms to herself, and begins to clap along with the beat.

Dazzler has posed:
"Aim for two weeks from tonight." Alison suggests, the suggestion made quietly when Shannon begins to sing. She turns her attention back towards the stage once more, until the tail end of the song when her phone starts to chime. "Excuse me...pass on that I think she's wonderful for me, Sam."

Triage has posed:
As soon as Shannon starts to play and sing, Chris nods in recognition. This song is particularly full of meaning for her. He watches, nods to Shannon, and grins.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit as he looks at her, and leans over to Alison and says "She sang in front of millions on TV, and still had doubt about her ability to sing." He tells the other "She is like a little sister to me so I am trying to get her to see how good she really is."

Nightingale has posed:
As one song ends, Shannon lets her hands rest on the keys for a moment, a few tears trickling down her face. A few may know the reason why, but most will not. She glances over to Sam and Alexis, and smiles wryly. "Told you so. Or do you need one more to prove the point?" The die was cast. What would be, would be.

Prismatic has posed:
Nope. Shannon doesn't get out of it that easy.

Alexis looks taken aback at the tears from Shannon, and she looks back to Sam, confused, then to Shannon.

"But you played very well, and your voice is amazing, Shannon... why..?" she questions gently, leaning against the stage. There is applause on the floor, for Shannon.

Dazzler has posed:
"Sometimes it doesn't matter what others say, if you've got that image in your head." Alison replies, but she checks the phone, giving a quick round of applause before she slides off to take the call.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie 's brow raises a bit at the tears as well. He looks over to Chris "Ok, did not mean to upset her, did not even mean for her to have to sing till she was ready."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon glances to Sam for confirmation, hesitating a few moments just in case there is someone else slated to come up on the stage. "Your call, sam. Yea or nay?" She smiles a bit for him, and tilts her head. "I don't know what all you had planned for up on stage here for tonight...."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthriegives Shanon the thumbs up to keep going now that she has started and trusting her and alexis both up there

Triage has posed:
Chris shakes his head. "She has her worries about herself and performing here, but you didn't cause those tears," he answers. "It's a song that means a great deal to her. As for her playing at the funeral, that was different. She couldn't really /see/ the faces, except possibly mine and a few others. So it was different from this. This is what they call an 'intimate venue.' That could make all of the difference."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods to Sam, and cracks her knuckles lightly. This was not going to be an easy piece. But it was one of the few she had that would really suit the venue. Now there was an actual hint of nerves written in her face, in the furrowing of her brows. Her fingers touch the keys, and sweeping, thundering notes fill the room, another classic from days gone by.

"We're leaving together
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back
To Earth, who can tell?
I guess there is no-one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?
It's the final countdown...!"

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis purses her lips, and looks back to Sam, rubbing the back of her head a moment before she looks back to Shannon, and listens to what begins as bittersweet and then turns to a rock classic... and poor Alexis isn't familiar with this one. She retreats a little, back towards the bar as she sets money on the counter. "I will also have a rootbeer. And a fresh one for Shannon."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and nods his head a bit foot tapping with the music and says "Now looks like we may have gotten her to understand it you think?

Triage has posed:
"You might need to wait for that open mic night to know for certain," Chris warns. "That reminds me. She said that she asked you when it will be. Can you drop a hint? I'd like to be here to cheer for her."

Nightingale has posed:
The song sweeps through impossibly complex riffs that sound as if they belong on the guitar. Once or twice, Shannon's fingers do tangle up and a couple notes are missed, but she presses onwards, right through the final chorus, and the final thundering chords. As the keyboard falls silent, she scurries off the stage with all due haste, grinning a bit sheepishly to the musicians who have been incredibly patient and waited their turn. "Got 'er warmed up for you. Go get 'em."

She hides back over at the bar, where it seems a root beer is waiting. Well, at least it was a drink well-earned! With an emphatic nod at the trippy trio, she almost smirks. "Told you so. That. Was.... UGH...."

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis spins in her chair and faces Shannon. With the utmost concern in her gaze, she steeples her fingers, and looks at Shannon.

"Shannon. I really want to know who you are comparing yourself to. And then I want to know who told you you were awful. So I can pinch them." she states.

And true to her promise, Shannon would get just a little pinch on her forearm.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to her, and says "You did great kiddo, and open nights are (Blah blah when ever ya want to rp it). You did really good, and your welcome up there any time you want to be."

Triage has posed:
Usually one to hesitate, Chris slides from his stool and steps toward Shannon. He grins and reaches to hug her and whisper his own congratulations to her. Then he reclaims his stool and looks to Sam. "Stock plenty of root beer. You'll have at least a few customers and possibly one very thirsty debutante on that night."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon yelps as she's pinched, pulling her arm back. "Owwwww..!!!" Any sort of reply, though, is forestalled by the intake of root beer, the sweet treat a welcome anodyne to the nerves that now leave her shaking just a bit. "You haven't heard half the musicians at school, and never mind who knows how many out there besides. As for being awful..." She falls silent to listen to Chris, leaving off the rest of the answer. To Sam, she smiles a little bit. "Thanks, though I think next time I'll actually try to coordinate with you on the where and when. We got lucky this time that the band was late."

Prismatic has posed:
    Alexis takes a deep breath.

"Shannon, trust me when I say that I have heard some of the finest musicians of my generation, accross the world. And my dear, you could blow some of the classically trained, /Dynasty/ musicians out of the water." Alexis replies sternly. Oh, had she still been in school...

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit and says "You know, I could hire someone to be your personal musical teacher if you think you need more training Shannon. I do know someoen who might be interested in the job and might be able to trade her a discount on drinks here for a discount on lessons." He grins at Alexis.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon opens her mouth to protest, and likely manages to catch a few flies in the process before clamping it shut again. She shrinks down on her bar stool, furling her wings around her like a cocoon. Her voice has gotten really, really tiny, almost a -squeak- compared to its sound on stage. "Okay, okay... you win..."

Triage has posed:
Chris smiles at the interchange. Then his watch pings. He glances at it and sighs. "Unfortunately, I need to tend to something at the school," he explains, lowering his voice so that only the three others will hear. "I should head back." He looks to Shannon, and offers, "Do you need a ride?"

Prismatic has posed:
"Pretty sure I can bat my eyelashes and get free rootbeer all I want, Sam. I'm dating one of the managers, you know. Blond gent, about your height, charming Southern gentleman." Alexis gives a wry look over to him, and then back to Shannon.

She reaches up, and gently brushes the back of her hand against one of the wings.

"I don't understand why you feel that you aren't 'good enough', Shannon." she gently says to the singer. "You need a little polish, perhaps and if you'd like, we could practice."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon chuckles a little bit, extending her wing for Alexis to look at for a moment if she so wishes. "Tell you what. I feed you--maybe some of that mac 'n cheese--you help with that polish. That work?"

Chris' watch goes off just then and there's the offer of a ride. "I'm afraid I probably should be getting back as well. It's probably close to curfew as it is." Sam, Alexis, and Chris each get a hug, but Sam and Alexis get a saucy little grin as well. "Keep out of trouble, you two!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit and says "Ah heard it was the head guy, only one over him is the owner, and he is like the managers best friend so think you might be ok. He does look to shannon and says "Someone was talking about putting a air matress in ya room for her visit by the way.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to alexis, as the others seem to be leaving "So, what would you like to do tonight my dead lady?"

Triage has posed:
Chris nods to Sam and then Alexis. "I'm glad that I was here for the music and to meet you, ma'am," he says. "If you'll excuse me, I should go and see how badly someone is exaggerating an injury to skip a class or two tomorrow." He dismounts the stool and heads for the exit.

Prismatic has posed:
"Trouble? Hardly know the meaning of the word." Alexis states, hugging on Shannon an dbidding Triage farewell, "A pleasure, Chris." and then -- just her, Sam, and the patrons of the bar

She turns to him and gives a soft smile.

"You have good friends, Sam." she comments softly.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head a bit and says "They are good kids, and Ah think you will like most of my friends, Ah have been really lucky in that side of things. Thought you were going to join in on the second song, why didn't ya?"

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives a shake of her head.

"Tonight, it was about proving to Shannon that she didn't -- what was her phrase? 'Reek'?" she states with a wry smile, "If I were to join her on the second song, she wouldn't have been pressed so hard to perform, I should think. There is a sense of power in performing solo."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods a bit to this and will move to lean against the bar with her, and says "So, you thought about how long you might want to stay when you come for a visit?"

Prismatic has posed:
"A day or two, perhaps. I can't take so long away from the city." Alexis admits, and gives a sad smile. "As generous as you are, I need the work to pay for my apartment, and I help at the shelter." she states to the manager, and she gives a small shrug of her shoulders. "It'll be nice enough to get out of the city. I'm beginning to forget that there's green outside of Central Park!"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and nods his head a bit to this and says "Yea, we got some nice woods nearby not quite like back home, but not bad, mind you might be more white than green." he teases

Prismatic has posed:
"Quite all right. How much experience do you have with ice skating in Kentucky, Mr. Guthrie?" she teases lightly, leaning over the bar from her place.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie makes a soso motion, and says "A bit more since up here, we might have been in the south but were in the mountains and that does give a bit more experience with the cold and such than some of the lower spots."

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives a little smile up to Sam, and she relaxes her shoulders, and drinks her rootbeer as she leans back in her stool.

"Good. You can teach me then." she replies pleasently, with a mischevious smile.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles a bit and says "Would you like to go give it a try now?" He will ask her grinning a bit more at her.

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives a little smile, and reaches up, and gently 'boops' Sam's nose.

"Not tonight. I have an engagement in the morning, and should be at home, asleep." she gives a wry smile.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles and says "Ah would offer to walk you home, but Ah, aint gonna press, figure you will let me know when your ready."

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives a small smile, and she looks down at the bartop, then up to Sam again.

"I'll give it some thought. Maybe we can grab breakfast some time." she smiles, and goes to stand, leaving a couple of dollars on the countertop for 'tip'.

    "Goodnight, Sam."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will stand and move to hug her before she goes and says "Ah will be looking forward to it, and counting the minutes." He grins at her

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis gives Sam a hug, squeezing against him a moment before she smooths out his dress shirt. "You do look handsome in violet." she states, giving him a smile, and she turns to walk out of the club and back into the night.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smil;es and watches her go, and enjoys the show but still hates to see her go.
