Profile

A rogue soviet era AI, who's best known by it's superhero alter ego. The Bogatyr, a mechanical knight who's popped up in cities across America occasionally. Really it's just trying to save humanity from extinction, but well humans are a strange fickle thing. It's showed up on grainy footage in cities across America, and seems to inspire fear and fascination in equal measure amongst the public.

AI

Bog can process dramatically more information, with far greater accuracy than any vanilla human brain and this for however long it wants. It does not get distracted, it does not get tired or hungry. It doesn't get sick(though it can break down), It doesn't take days off. Bogatyr's capacity for workload and toil in general, is a force to be reckoned with unto itself. It can download manuals and books on the fly, and it has perfect memory. That said Bog's programming architecture is built around stability and load, not speed. As such it can still be surprised, and caught off guard.

MACHINE DURABILITY

Bog is composed of primarily exotic hardened, high strength steel, Kevlar, carbon/carbon composites, ceramics and all the other kinds of stuff you'd expect to find in a main battle tank. Internally it's systems are triple redundant and well protected. It's immune from disease, Physchic and all other distinctly biological forms of attack. It is resiliant against heat, water, pressure, dust and most forms of weathering. Bogatyr was designed from the outset to survive horrific amounts of punishment, and it takes dedicated anti-tank weaponry or equivilent meta powers to really harm Bog. Even injured Bog requires fairly complete destruction to fully put out of the fight, as it's capable of soldiering on even after suffering multiple amputations.

MACHINE STRENGTH

Bogatyr's capacity for raw phsyical strength is largely a function of material technology. It can lift five or six tons, and hold that weight for however long it wishes. Note that raw brute strength(which it has in aces) does not translate into speed (Which it doesnt).

SERIAL IMMORTALITY

Bog takes great care to back itself up, and to secure these backups in seperate secure locations across the US and abroad. "Killing" Bogatyr would thusly be something of an undertaking, but as long as a backup survives Bogatyr lives. Even with the loss of an instance, Bogatyr is likely to come back the next day to begin construction of a new body. For various philosphical reasons Bog only operates one instance at a time, which means it is intollerant of multiple "Bogatyrs" running around.

Skills

ARMS

With a sword and shield, Bogatyr has an excellent command of swordplay. Able to utilize a mixture of it's own durability and strength to best most foes. With empty hands, well he's an excellent wrestler and he knows how to punch but beyond that it's lost on him. With firearms, well Bog is something else. A combination of machine precision, and a genuine affinity means he's as accurate as whatever firearm he's using is. It also means he's quite comfortable using firearms of it's own design, and all but ignoring recoil forces which would pulverize a regular human.

ENGINEERING

Bogatyr is one heck of an engineer as it pertains to the obvious fields of robotics, mechanical engineering and metalurgy. It's an exceptional machinist, welder and blacksmith for the obvious reasons as well. Bogatyr is an evolutionary sort of crafter however, not a revolutionary one. It tends to copy existing things, and then slowly and progressively improve upon them. Laser weaponry, exotic zero point drives and the like are well beyond Bog's realm of experience and even interest. It's constructs creations are simple, durable and well manufactured but very few are what anyone would consider "Cutting edge" for 2027.

MOTORCYCLES

Bog's Hobby is Motorcycles, and it pursues this interest avidly. Whilst it's innate weight and size makes riding regular motorcycles impossible, it's gotten quite good at just building it's own from scratch. As far as riding goes, all things being equal Bog would be considered "Semi-pro" against Human riders on comparable equipment.

DRONES

Eight builds drones for all sorts of things, usually it's mundane like repairing it's own combat chassis. It also produces combat drones however, typically these are spidery tanks armed with somewhat exotic evolutions of modern day weaponry. The drones themselves are normally not operated wirelessly, instead following commands with their own rudimentary dog-like intellect. These tanks are typically very durable, and very well armed but manifest logistical nightmares in terms of moving them and paying for them. As such they're of little use unless Bog's anticipating a fight.

OXEN HEAVY MACHINERY

Bog owns and is the chief engineer for, one of America's leaders in heavy jobsite machinery. This grants him funds, and access to materials which would otherwise raise eyebrows. It's no big deal to order a little too much tungsten, Cobalt and whatever else it needs without drawing attention to itself. It can also purchase these materials at reduced cost of course.

WORKSHOPS

Bog has scattered workshops out on either coast, and stocked them with the tools, machinery and raw materials necessary to create pretty much whatever it fancies. These workshops do not house any finished products, so even upon examination it would be difficult to discern exactly what they may be for to the lay person.

Weaknesses

BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED

Bogatyr is powered by a distributive battery, which makes it very difficult to destroy. It also means that when depleted it's not a single large battery which you can swap out, they must be recharged in place or replaced with great toil. At peak load sustained load, these batteries grant Bogatyr just two minutes. Less load means longer run times obviously, and your typical combat against random thugs will still likely grant 30-40 minutes worth of runtime. At rest, Bog could even spend weeks without a recharge by contrast. To recharge a wallsocked, or high power electric line will do granting various charge times. Just in case, Bog does have a very small nuclear reactor capable of charging it's batteries from full flat to 10% in a day or so. The reactor is there to keep him from being stranded, and is not powerful enough to run him in "real time".

EXPENSIVE

A typical combat chassis, armor kit and armaments is worth approximately eighteen million dollars in materials alone. It does not stockpile chassis old or otherwise for fear of them being stolen, and it has a compulsion to make everything -exactly- so. It can take a week to create an entirely new form, and even battle damage is expensive. Normal operations as well eat servos, hydraulics, and so yeah it's no small thing. Bog's various combat drones are often times dramatically more expensive, topping out around fifty million. Most of those also chew through ammunition bills high enough to buy a few houses. Bog simply does not have the bankroll to maintain high level operations over long periods of time, and it's wholly unwilling to endanger the company for it's own sake.

SLOW

By human standards Bog is neither especially quick nor is it particularly slow. Average human movement speed in general is the order of the day. It's weight alone means that Bog will never be swift or acrobatic. You can not only outrun Bogatyr, but you can beat him on the draw as well. This becomes particularly apparent when matched with most folks of similar raw strength, Bog's just not built for speed unfortunately.

STILL A MACHINE

Bog is coded in a "dead" language, and was designed from the outset to be quite secure. On top of that is Bog's own attempts to shore up it's electronic defenses, but it's still just a machine. Bog can be hacked with great difficulty, a talented enough programmer could even just trick Bog into predictable patterns of behavior. Bog's essential spark of creativity is there, but it's dim and like anyone else Bog is a creature of instinct and pattern.

TERRIFYING

Bog creeps some people out, and outright terrifies others. Sure he can pass for a seven foot knight, but that's not always reassuring to start with. From the way it moves, to the way it talks Bogatyr is "off". On top of that AI gets a bad rap, and for many all machines are likely crazy dangerous. More than a couple first responders have opened fire on Bog without much provocation, and for now at least that's unlikely to change.
