Profile

Born Vlad Tepes III, the man who would become known as Dracula, King of the Vampires, started life as Wallachian royalty. After years of strife and conflict, he would rise to be a tyrannical but skilled warlord and conquer the neighboring land of Transylvania. When his kingdom collapsed around him and he was beset on all sides by his enemies, he was given the 'gift' of undying, Vampiric life by one of his last allies.

Since then, Dracula has since retreated into the shadows and claimed the title of Lord of the Vampires. His reign of terror made him a legend of violence and darkness. While many believe him to be a myth, his control over Transylvania from his foreboding castle is absolute, and his thirst for power and blood is never-ending.

Description:

Though his form is fairly fluid, Dracula is, above all else, imposing. His height is noticable even at a distance, and his features, young or old, are striking and regal. He wears a thin goatee most of the time, in a style from a long passed era, his hair a dark black when it isn't bone white. He styles it longer than most men, sometimes allowing it to reach shoulder length, and sometimes even longer. Whether in an aged skin, or a younger one, his features are sharply defined with high cheekbones and shallow cheeks complementing one another well. There's a certain pointed quality to his ears, noticable primarily when he's hungry for blood, but a hint of the elven feature still barely noticable even when he's well-fed. Similarly, his eyes change based on the level of his thirst, shifting between an extremely dark brown, to a pinprick of red surrounded by a sea of black.

History:

Before he was Dracula, Lord of the Vampires, Vlad Tepes III was Wallachian royalty. Born to the current Voivode (or prince), Vlad Dracul, Vlad Tepes would eventually be captured and used to ensure the loyalty of his father. Angry at their lord for allowing himself to be controlled so easily, Vlad the Elder's advisors revolted and slew him. Eventaully, Vlad escaped his confinement and led the loyalists in the recovery of his throne, crowning himself the new Voivode and going on to lead his land into greatness. Unfortunately for his enemies, Vlad did not escape years of imprisonment and torture unscathed, and went on to earn himself the title of Vlad the Impaler, and the notice of a creature of darkness. Years of warfare and bloodshed resulted in him ruling both Wallachia and the neighboring realm of Transylvania, but it also earned him many enemies, and like his father before him, he faced a revolt. The creature approached a desperately wounded and furious Vlad Dracula, and embraced him, turning him into a vampire. No longer concerned with anything besides his hunger, Vlad, now known simply as Dracula, feasted for many years in the dark, miserable countryside until his benefactor allowed him to take the mantle of Lord of the Vampires from his shoulders. With that newfound strength and clarity, Dracula reclaimed his old home in the Transylvanian countryside and fashioned for himself a shadow empire. Though the land belonged to a train of human rulers throughout the years, they and the villagers would inevitably come to understand that Transylvania belonged to him. Those who played ball enjoyed relative prosperity and peace from Transylvania, and those who didn't could never seem to keep any sort of presence there, and eventually ended up exanguinated in their own homes.

For years, this continued, and Dracula was more or less content. Until, one day, he encountered Hans van Helsing. A furious battle ensued, and for the first time since he became Lord of the Vampires, Dracula was grievously injured. He slew Hans in a blind fury, and earned the ever lasting emnity of his bloodline -- one of the greatest feuds in history. Over the years, Dracula's goals and desires fluctuated and varied with his moods. Occasionally he would try his hand at forming a family, but each time it would end in bloodshed and failure, usually at the hands of the van Helsings. As the centuries progressed, Dracula became less and less content to maintain his relative anonymity in the heart of Transylvania and eventually began plans to expand further into the world, starting in Europe and progressing into the New World when the United States was still in its infancy. By now, his cult has spread the world over and infiltrated deep into government and commercial nerve centers, and the world is just waiting for his next move.

Personality

Personality:

Dracula's mood swings are almost as infamous as he is. At any moment he can go from calm and generous host to bloodthirsty, almost feral monster. Some might even claim that the monstrous, angry Dracula is his natural state ever since he was turned all those centuries ago. However, even if that's true, the charming and suave lord from another era is one of his most well known masks. He wears it well and often, but it's still just another weapon in his quiver. Truthfully, he's a predator on every level, and views the human race itself as his prey. No matter what mask or personality he puts forward, there's always the hunger to think of, to drive his interactions with the mortals he comes in contact with. Still, he has a certain sense of honor, a relic from his time as not just a human, but a 15th century lord. He won't refuse a challenge from a worthy foe, and he won't defile the corpse of a well-respected enemy. He honors his word for the most part, but humans should always be a bit suspect of him. His lowered opinion of them disqualifies most from his code, but those who have earned his respect can expect to be treated honorably... Or at least as well as can be expected from the Lord of the Vampires.

Abilities

Healing Factor:
Coupled with his prodigious immunity to damage, Dracula also possesses an immense healing factor. So great is his power to heal that he's capable of even regenerating lost limbs in a matter of moments. Even attacks designed to target his specific weaknesses and destroy him utterly can be overcome. He has been incinerated and turned to ash and subsequently revived when his ashes were collected and placed in a coffin filled with soil from his homeland. He has been staked in the heart and decapitated, and then revived when the stake was removed and his head placed back on his neck. Damage that humans wouldn't even be capable of healing, he can recover from in seconds. Damage that would take weeks or months of physical therapy to correct, doesn't even slow him down.

Hypnotism:
Similar to mind control, but not quite the same, Dracula is a nearly peerless master of hypnotism. Far more than mere parlor tricks, Dracula can actually dominate an individual's mind through eye contact. This is different from telepathically controlling someone however. At no point does Dracula invade the victim's mind, read it, or possess it. It's simply an extremely advanced form of mental suggestion, allowing him to implant commands or loyalty in another. Similarly to telepathic domination, this ability can be resisted with sufficient willpower, and can be shaken off given enough time, emotional shock, or outside interference. As well, since he's not actively controlling anyone he hypnotizes like a puppet, telepathic individuals are often completely immune due to their advanced mental control and can usually simply erase the hypnotic suggestions in others. The time it takes to establish the suggestion varies based on the individual's level of willpower, ranging from instantaneous to hours or days worth of prolonged, repetitive exposure. Conversely, the longer it takes to implant the suggestion (and Dracula can willfully take more time to do so) the more difficult it usually is to break out of.

Invulnerability:
One of the more iconic side-effects of Vampiric infection is the increased durability of the host. In Dracula, that durability is at a whole other level. The Lord of the Vampires is all but invulnerable when it comes to conventional weaponry. It's not necessarily that a bullet or a sword can't pierce his skin, or a bludgeon can't break his bones, it's simply that in his state, Dracula is unaffected by the damage entirely. His body is animated by something entirely seperate from what animates the body of a living creature. A bullet will puncture his skin and the shockwave will cause damage to his organs, but since they're entirely vestigial anyway, it has no affect on him.

What makes Dracula stand out from the standard vampire, however, is his resistance to non-conventional weaponry and damage. Very few sources can actually harm him in a way that means anything. Even a full power, magical frontal assault from one of the foremost sorcerors of the time slowed Dracula to a crawl and damaged him enough to force a retreat, but was unable to actually outright destroy him.

Lord of the Vampires:
As Lord of the Vampires, Dracula has a variety of enhanced and unique powers. One of which is the ability to control lesser vampires mentally. Usually, this simply acts as a low-level and constant suggestion of loyalty in any full-blooded vampires, though this can and often has been shrugged off by strong willed individuals in time. However, he can also more directly control his subordinates if he so wills. Unlike his hypnotism, this ability only works on freshly turned vampires or those in a supremely weakened or ill-fed state. It does not require eye contact, only awareness of the other vampire, and is not limited by distance, though it is weakened outside of about a mile from Dracula. This -is- telepathic control and allows him to mentally sift through the other vampire's thoughts at will and, if desired, to directly puppet and speak through them. Advanced willpower has proven capable of shrugging off this domination, and as the vampire grows stronger and ages, they gradually build a general resistance to it that can be weakened when starved or severely damaged. Special cases, such as an innate immunity to mental control or telepathy can also render a vampire immune to his power.

Mind Control Immunity:
For whatever reason, though likely related to his advanced vampiric state, Dracula is more or less completely immune to telepathic control. His mind isn't impervious to mental intrusion, mind (though his will is quite strong), but no matter how powerful and how deep the telepath digs, control never seems to stick. At best, certain supremely powerful telepaths or otherworldy entities have managed to briefly slow his actions or make his step falter, but none have ever managed to completely turn him to their will, even for a moment.

Mystical Psionics:
Dracula possesses the ability to reach out with his mind and influence the world around him. This ability, curiously enough, does not come from any mental mutation or the like, but is in fact mystical in origin. It varies in strength depending on the target's state and distance from him. So weak is his ability to telepathically influence humans that even in direct proximity to his target, if they're still alive, the best he can do is create a link between them for communication, read unshielded surface thoughts and emotions, or alter minor details of their perception. He is not, however, limited in his scope and can target massive crowds at will. Naturally, strong wills or adept natural telepaths or those who can shield themselves from magic can easily defeat this ability. However, if his target(s) is undead -- or even better, another vampire -- his power is immense. With some concentration, he has shown himself capable of directly communicating with groups of vampires on the other side of the planet through thought alone. Theoretically, he could potentially convey messages to every active vampire on the planet at once, though this would likely take incredible concentration and a fresh and large supply of blood. Within sight range, his power over the undead or other vampires is nearly peerless.

Further, his mystical psionic ability is not just limited to telepathy. He's shown himself capable of fine, detailed telekinetic control in the past with a strength rivaling that of his physical abilities. On more than one occasion he's fought off failed assassinations without even having to leave his throne, merely tossing the attackers aside or dueling them with his blade from afar. The most he's ever shown to comfortably be able to manage is around fifteen tons at once, though this seems to be close to his baseline, rather than in a weakened or engorged state.

Shapeshifting:
Dracula is capable of changing his physical state into that of another creature or form. This ability does not appear to be unlimited, and is instead focused on several different pre-determined forms:

Bats: Dracula can shapeshift into a swarm of bats that usually act in unison. However, he can split off one or two bats from the swarm to spy on various locations.
Rats: Like the bats, Dracula can shapeshift into a swarm of rats. Save for the change in shape and physical capabilities he possesses the same level of control over the swarm as when he changes into a group of bats.
Wolf: The last of his seemingly normal forms, Dracula can turn into the form of a massive, gray wolf. Like something out of a lost era, his wolf form is huge and imposing, but compared to the strength of his human form, focuses primarily on speed. Depending on how well-fed he is, his speed in wolf form can be anywhere from double to quadruple the speed of his human form, and he can maintain it for three times as long. His strength, conversely, is usually halved. His already prodigious senses are also doubled, and he can maintain nearly perfect concealment in a snowy or dark environment.
Mist: Oddly enough, Dracula can turn himself into a cloud of mist. He can not willingly split himself in his mist form, and if he's ever dispersed, he loses consciousness while his body naturally tries to reform, at which point he immediately returns to an awakened state. He's more or less immune to damage from all sources while mist, but he's also incapable of interacting with the world in any way. Naturally, however, as a cloud of mist, it's far easier for him to conceal his presence and to slip through miniscule cracks and imperfections. His senses are dulled, however, unable to naturally perceive anything at all save for dim, colorless glimpses of his surroundings and the general displacement volume of anything he surrounds. He gets around this, usually, through magical means, but that not only fails in areas of magical cancellation or muting, but also tends to betray his unnatural nature and presence to anyone who can sense magic.
Hybrid Forms: Finally, Dracula is capable of taking on hybrid forms of his wolf and bat shapes, and a partial transformation of his mist shapes. Besides physical appearance, senses, and the ability to fly, his half-wolf and half-bat shapes are largely the same. He gains double his normal strength, but half his normal speed, and takes on the form of a humanoid wolf or bat. In half-wolf form, his senses are similar to those in his normal wolf shape, and in half-bat, they're half what his normal senses are, but he gains the ability to echolocate. Finally, he's incapable of flight in his half-wolf shape, but can fly under power of his wings when in half-bat.

Sorcery:
Dracula is an accomplished sorceror, well-versed and studied in all forms of magic, with a particular focus on restricted or dark magics. As a powerful being of mystical origin, he's also very potent and can usually hold his own in a clash with exceptionally well-respected sorcerors of global significance. He'll never be sorceror supreme, but he might be able to impress one with his talent given the opportunity. So great is his expertise, he's shown himself even capable of summoning and controlling vast armies of demonic origin on occasion, though usually with extensive time to prepare. He's even gone so far as to blend magic and science in bizzare fashion, though his relative weakness in the latter has limited his scope.

Superhuman Agility:
Once again, the physical limits of the host body are surpassed when introduced to the vampiric infection. Dracula, as Lord of the Vampires, even more so. His agility and reflexes are far beyond those of the finest human athlete. Few obstacles can even slow him, let alone stop him entirely, and he's proven easily capable of making effortless, acrobatic movements even whilst dodging gunfire.

Superhuman Senses:
As with other vampires, Dracula possesses a suite of enhanced and outright inhuman senses. His hearing is strong enough to pick up on the heartbeats of intruders breaking into his castle from anywhere within it, his sense of smell can isolate and idenfity an individual's scent from a crowd, and track them for up to a mile, and his sense of touch is strong enough to pick up microscopic imperfections on an otherwise smooth surface. His sight goes beyond all of this, however, by not only being powerful enough to count the fingers on a hand held up over a mile distant, but to do it in perfect darkness as well. On top of this, he can see into the ultraviolet and infrared ranges, and can inspect substances on a microscopic level. Finally, he can also physically sense the presence of blood. Even devoid of every other sense, he can pick up on the differences in blood type, genetic markers, and foreign substances in trace samples of blood from a hundred yards away, and once he's tasted a sample of blood, he can track it to the source for miles, through any environment or lack thereof. This sense is mystically derived, and can be blocked by any source which can cancel or suppress magical effects.

Superhuman Speed:
Thanks to the vampiric infection in their bodies, hosts can often exhibit bursts of speed well beyond mortal limits. Once again, Dracula's speed is greater even than normal vampires. He's proven capable of moving much faster than the human eye can follow, dodging explosions and gunfire effortlessly while traversing a battlefield in the blink of an eye. Such is his speed that he's even been capable of keeping up with and sometimes surpassing 'speedsters' in combat. Still, like a cheeta, he is limited to relatively short bursts of explosive speed. His upper limits seem to be around 3-5 minutes of continuous use.

Superhuman Strength:
Vampiric infection often increases the strength of the host many times over. Dracula has gone well beyond even that. Though exact measurements of his strength are hard to come by and usually vary wildly based on how well-fed he is at the time, Dracula's baseline strength is prodigious. On average, he tends to be able to exert about ten tons of force and lift and hold about twenty. However, when starving or weakened by some mystical force, his strength can easily be halved. Conversely, when engorged on blood or for a short time after drinking, his strength can nearly double.

Vampiric Physique:
Like most vampires, Dracula is completely immune to fatigue toxins thanks to his undead state. Constant, strenuous activity can be maintained almost indefinitely without any loss in ability. Instead, the primary limiter on how long Dracula can sustain a heightened state of activity is his hunger, or more accurately, his thirst. Blood sustains him and keeps him moving. Without a fresh, regular supply of blood Dracula will weaken and falter. After three days, his abilities are roughly halved. A week, and he'll be nearly incapable of movement. Any longer and Dracula will fall into a comatose state indefinitely until supplied with blood.

Vampirism:
The ability that makes Dracula who he is. Many have analyzed the vampiric state through a variety of means, but few have ever managed to truly understand it. Some claim it to be purely mystical in origin, some scientific, and a lesser number some mix of the two. Regardless, it is perhaps the most potent in the legendary Count Dracula. As a vampire, Dracula has acquired a number of other abilities, but the purest and first was his ability and need to consume blood for power. Given an infinite supply, Dracula could drink for eternity and never slow down, but his hunger (or more accurately thirst) is usually abated after about a quart of fresh, human blood. Many vampires can survive on animal blood alone, but Dracula has progressed beyond that point long ago and can only gain sustenance from the vitality of sentient creatures. So long as he remains at least marginally well-fed, he can maintain his power indefinitely, though the strength of that power varies based on how much blood he has in his system, and activity does burn through the blood based on how long and how vigorously he stays active.

The most well known property of the vampire, of course, is their ability to spread the 'curse' to others. The vampiric condition behaves like a virus, and can be fought off, though usually only by those with exceptional healing factors or access to state of the art mystical and scientific facilities. Vampires themselves have conducted studies on what exactly spreads the virus, and some have even developed special or advanced methods of doing so, but traditionally it is believed that a special enzyme contained in vampiric saliva and blood is what contains the catalyst for transformation. Further, a potential vampire must be exanguinated -after- being exposed to the enzyme. Usually, transformation takes place over the following three days as the body is converted into that of a vampire, and the host is revived. Most vampires have the same basic abilities of enhanced strength, speed, durability, healing, and agility. Some, through various means, both mystical and scientific, have acquired more advanced versions of these abilities and additional powers, and are usually treated with more respect by 'lesser' vampires.

Weather Manipulation:

One of the few vampiric powers largely unique to Dracula and others nearer to his class is the power to control the weather. While he doesn't have as fine a control over it as certain mutants, he can easily summon and dismiss violent storms on command. His strength of control is immense, but broad rather than detailed. He can usually summon or resist the dispellation of his storms against other weather manipulators for extended periods of time, but he can't, of instance, control the individual bolts of lightning or mentally direct small winds. Subtelty is well beyond his level. Further, actually combatting another weather manipulator in control over the presence of his storms is draining and will usually use up a large portion of blood stores, leaving him weakened and vulnerable after the conflict.

Skills

Combat Master:
Dracula has six centuries worth of experience in combat, training under various masters and in turn mastering his own style of combat emphasizing his brutal strength, vicious speed, and natural weapons. He has few competitors that can match him for skill, the majority being other immortals or those with extensive experience, either with a weapon or unarmed. Coupled with his near immunity to conventional damage and his enhanced, superhuman physical capabilities, Dracula is truly a terrifying presence on any battlefield.

Science Obscura:
Dracula has cultivated an in-depth understanding of the sciences, with a particular focus on the lesser known and oft disregarded acedemia of alchemy and the like. Ever since he was turned, Dracula has used his gifted intellect and vast resources to collect, study, and replicate experiments and treatises by selectively well-regarded experts in fields many would scoff at. He's continued to apply those sciences to his mystical arts and has developed many varied arcane practices that would boggle the mind of more traditional scientists. Needless to say, in those more traditional aspects of the sciences, he's an academic and well-studied, but far from a leader in the fields -- often supplementing his knowledge with his vast libraries out of necessity. Even his castle is representative of his interest, far from the lifeless stone creation it began life as, its scattered with devices and works that would best be described as arcanepunk in nature.

Tactician:
Even before he lived for many centuries longer than he was ever intended, Vlad Tepes III was a brutal and effective tactician. He lead his armies to victories he should never have been able to accomplish and carved out a powerful kingdom for himself after the death of his father. Since then, his skill and experience has only gotten sharper and more extensive. Through the many, many years he's lead armies of the damned and undying to victories against human incursions into his lands and the occasional uprisings of lesser undead. Sometimes he's even been known to foster rebellions amongst his own people just to keep himself on his toes and simultaneously root out and destroy potential traitors.

Theatricality:

When most think of the legend of Dracula, they often think of some larger-than-life figure, sometimes a bit corny, but usually darkly charming and intimidating. This is by no means an accident. Dracula is a master of theatricality and the spreading of his legend. Some believe the acts that gave him the epithet of 'the Impaler' were simply cruel or furious actions that went too far. In actuality it was a measured move in a vast and complicated game designed to foster a sense of terror in any who would oppose him. He simply has an innate talent for fanning the flames of his monsterous and prolific legend.

Castle Dracula:
The iconic home of Dracula himself, Castle Dracula is extremely non-representative of many of its kind. Like all castles, it was designed as a fortress with defensibility taking the most prominent role in its construction. There are limited points of reliable entry, and they themselves are well defended by traditional barricades and traps like a portcullis and various murderholes. Somewhat non-traditional is what's inside the infamous castle. The entirety of the structure is laced with 'arcanepunk' like devices filling a variety of functions including brass lights powered by mystical circuitry and letting off a dim, natural seeming light or large, brass, cage-like creations that levitate and carry occupants to various locations throughout the castle at the press of a button. The entire castle is staffed, maintained, and defended by magical automatons, loyal undead, and summoned and bound demonic creatures, and is a structure carefully sculpted to maximize both comfort and practicallity over many centuries by Dracula himself. Finally, the most impressive and least known function of the castle is its ability to physically, mystically, and instantaneously transport itself between pre-determined locations, marked by an extensive and expensive ritual.

Cult of Dracula:
Dracula has cultivated a vast network of well-placed and utterly loyal followers throughout all of Europe and Asia, and extensive parts of Africa, Australia, and the Americas. The majority of these followers are simple cultists, devoted to their 'dark master' who go most of their lives attending meetings and performing meaningless rituals weekly, and spend the rest of their lives as simple workers scattered throughout corporate and government positions. Those with the most tangible power also usually seem to be highest in the pecking order, and are thus somewhat more in the know as to what is truly going on. Most sects of the cult have a contact in another sect which has a contact in another sect which, if their lucky, might have a truly vampiric connection. Relatively few of Dracula's most loyal subjects are actually vampires themselves -- they are a vicious and crafty breed after all, and even their Lord doesn't truly trust them as a rule. Beyond the obvious, mortal benefits having such an extensive shadow network of loyal devotees supplies, the upper eschelon of the Cult of Dracula know many dark secrets and are often kept well in the loop of Dracula's status through various mystical artifacts that could be used to track him. This, while being a closely kept secret due to its potential to be exploited and used against him, is primarily useful in case he's ever in need of someone to put his body back together and see to it that he receives a splash of blood in order to jumpstart his revival.

Infamy:
When you can actually claim the name Count Dracula, a surprising amount of doors open. His name is known virtually the world over and deep into the corners of nearly every mystical realm. Granted, many believe him to merely be a legend or myth, but demonstrations are often forthcoming that convince many of just whom their dealing with. Naturally, those willing to believe he is who he says he is are more commonly found amongst the mystic and arcane community.

Treasures:
Over the many long years, Dracula has acquired an extensive collection of mystical and historic artefacts. Many sit on his walls and in display cases, simple expressions of vanity and greed. Others reside in hidden crypts, usually in the bony hands of long dead, once loyal servants and followers. The most powerful and prized sit deep within his well protected vault hidden somewhere in Castle Dracula. Amongst them are such prizes as a shard of the true cross, lumps of vibranium or other more obscure metals, and more than a few grimoires of forbidden and dangerous arcane rituals and spells.

Wealth:

Dracula is a curiousity. Though he is, by even the most forgiving definitions, a monster and tyrant, he's surprisingly reliant on mortal society. They are, after all, his only source of sustenance, and he was at one point a mortal himself. When he can, he operates in shadows and behind the scenes, playing the part of the man behind the curtain. As a result, he relies heavily on mortal currency and has had many centuries to gather a vast fortune. It's all hidden behind shell corporations, in the accounts of his many aliases and followers, and stored physically in the vault and treasures at Castle Dracula, so liquidating or seizing all of his assets is an extensive and complicated process, but not impossible. Still, as a paranoid and long-lived creature who has survived on the wrong end of assassinations and coups, he has even more wealth tucked away in the far flung corners of the world and mystical realms exclusively earmarked for 'just in case' scenarios that might arise and largely unknown to any but himself or several mysteriously missing servants.

Weaknesses

Beheading:
As it is for most people, beheading a vampire is one sure way to stop them. The same is true for Dracula, though if his head is ever reattached, his healing factor will almost immediately reconnect the severed part and revive him. Further, though fire by itself is usually harmless save for the easily healed damage it might do to his body, after being beheaded, if his body is subsequently exposed to a sustained flame, it will quickly burn to ash, making it much harder for him to be revived.

Hunger:
Dracula is powered and kept active by the mystical properties of blood. Unfortunately for him, he has no blood of his own, and must steal it from others. This, obviously, is what makes him a vampire, but it's also a potent weakness in itself. Without a regular source of blood, Dracula will weaken and eventually fall into a comatose state. After three days of starvation, his abilities will be halved in potency, and after a week he'll barely be able to move under his own power outside of short bursts of extreme effort that'll usually just advance his weakened state. Much more than that, and he'll fall into a comatose state and be unable to interact with the world at all, though upon contact with even a drop of blood, he will revive for a short time -- hopefully long enough to drain the nearest source of blood and recover his strength. His physical appearance is also tied into how well fed he is, with him physically aging and growing more monstrous as he starves.

Religious Icons:
Though the significance behind it is curious and potentially significant as to the origin of vampirism, Dracula can actually be held at bay by religious icons. Of course, a religious icon, no matter the size or historical significance, is worthless by itself. Instead, what affects Dracula is faith -channeled- through a religious icon of any denomination. In the hands of a true believer, a simple plastic rosary is far more potent than a shard of the true cross itself in the hands of a non-believer (which, in fact, would do nothing to hold him at bay). Contact with a religious icon wielded by or in the presence of a true believer is as painful to him as silver, and can leave burns that take just as long to heal. Usually it doesn't come to that point, however, because the religious icon is more of a defensive measure than an offensive one. It is absolutely abhorent to Dracula, and depending on the faith of the wielder can actually drive him from a location -- though that would take a powerful believer indeed. More commonly, it will simply keep him from approaching too closely and protect the wielder from his mystical abilities.

Silver:
One of the only substances that through contact alone can burn and harm vampires, silver is a potent enemy of Dracula. Unlike many of his breed, simply being shot or impaled by silver isn't enough to actually kill him, but it can render wounds upon him that will actually affect him and take much longer to heal from. A cut from a steel blade that might take an instant to regenerate could take hours to heal completely when delivered by silver. More importantly, though, it'll burn and sting the entire time, causing great discomfort. Something far more serious, like a normally mortal wound on a human could even inflict debilitating pain on the Lord of Vampires. Bullets of silver, however, are an exception. Though many gunshots wounds can kill a human, that's primarily due to the shockwave and damage inflicted on the organs as well the propensity for internal bleeding, neither of which means anything at all to a vampire. Still, until he can remove the bullet, the silver will constantly burn and can be a potent distraction.

Staking:
To the vast majority of vampires, a wooden stake through the heart is deadly. To Dracula, it renders him instantly comatose and unable to react to the world around him. Naturally, for this reason, he tends to avoid anything resembling a sharp wooden object and will often react violently to anyone who comes near him with one on their person.

Sunlight:
An iconic weakness of every vampire is direct exposure to sunlight. Some are weak enough to be harmed by any source of UV light, but naturally Dracula, Lord of the Vampires, is not. Even direct exposure to sunlight, which is usually an instant death sentence, isn't for Dracula. Instead, it is immensely painful and can burn and sear his flesh faster than he can regenerate. A minute outside in the day is often enough to reduce him to ash, with even thirty seconds burning away the muscles required for physical movement. For obvious reasons, he tends not to risk exposure even if he is somewhat more resistant than most.

Wallachian Soil:

Many think of Dracula as being from Transylvania, and though that's partially true, he was actually born in Wallachia. This is relevant for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is his inability to travel more than 100 miles from his birthplace unless he sleeps daily amongst soil from his homeland. If he is ever forcefully separated from his birthplace and kept away from soil from his homeland, he will be overcome with an overriding and physically painful desire to return to his place of birth. The longer he stays apart from it, the more and more feral he'll become, eventually slipping into a state of mindlessness with only two instincts: Feed and return home. The second he returns and spends one day sleeping amongst his home soil, he'll return to his normal state, likely with a furious vengeance in mind for whomever put him through such an ordeal.

The lesser known aspects of Wallachian soil, however, are a bit more offensive and largely concerned with arcane rituals designed to fashion weapons of effectiveness on the order of silver or track him across vast, nearly unlimited distances, with more arcane properties and uses being more than possible, though unknown even to him.
