  • History: The Aeriens were originally part of the inhuman race. Around 1,000 BCE, the numbers of winged inhumans had increased so that their leader Kylus demanded a separate home they could live in. Attilan’s King Nestor agreed, and Feithera was settled. They established their own civilisation and culture, and constructed a beautiful city of towering spires and high aeries.

In the 1920s, a commercial plane crashed near Feithera, and a surviving child was adopted by King Aerivar XVIII and reared into Red Raven. The Aeriens lived in isolation until 1946, when the city was discovered by an American pilot who had strayed off course. The pilot told others of his discovery when he returned to America, but his story was believed by no one except for a trio of explorers who mounted an expedition to find the "bird-people" and bring them back to civilisation for exhibition.

Red Raven prevented the explorers from accomplishing their goal and persuaded them to keep Feithera's existence a secret from the rest of the world. He also assisted in preventing a takeover attempt by the traitorous Trata. Red Raven became a frequent visitor to the outside world and was allowed to bring Dr. Fred Cantrell to live among the Aeriens and study their culture. Cantrell fell in love with a Aerien woman and settled in the city. There, she gave birth to their hybrid son, Norda, who eventually became Northwind.
