Description:

Confidence naturally emanates from this man who is just over six feet tall, with his black hair tousled into an insouciant and youthful style younger than his years. His whole mien appears to communicate nothing so much as a flippant, irreverent nature, but his eyes dissent from the consensus of the rest of him: bright and brown in contrast to his dark hair, they hold an age and burden beyond what anything else might indicate. His features are certainly what many would consider handsome, even dashing, made even more debonair by the smart goatee he wears.

Tony is wearing black jeans with a black leather belt. His shirt is a T-Shirt of Black Sabbath over a long sleeved white shirt though which the Arc Reactor in his chest glows blue. He wears black leather street shoes, all of this being normal wear for when he is tinkering.

History

History:

On 29 May 1985, Anthony Edward Stark was born to Howard and Maria Stark. He defined his father as cold and calculating, since he was absent when Tony was younger. He got annoyed when his father was around, since all Howard spoke of was Captain America this and Captain America that. At age four, Tony stole the spotlight when he built his first circuit board. When he was six, he made his first engine, and at seventeen, he graduated from M.I.T. Summa Cum Laude. But even at the age of fourteen, he was still taken care of by a nanny.

When Tony was twenty-one, his parents were killed in a car accident. Howard Stark's lifelong friend Obadiah Stane became the C.E.O. of Stark-Fujikawa Enterprises. Later that year Tony, feeling he was ready to become the new C.E.O., ushered in a new era for his father's legacy, creating smarter weapons, advanced robotics, and satellite targeting. He changed the face of the weapons industry.

On New Year's Eve in 2006, Stark, with his scientist paramour Maya Hansen, met Ho Yinsen, who introduced Tony to Dr. Wu. Later, Tony arrogantly avoided a crippled scientist by the name of Aldrich Killian, who wanted Stark's backing in his Advanced Ideas Mechanics endeavour. Tony completely forgot about the man, after promising to meet him on the roof, in favour of spending time with scientist Maya, offering some brief observations on her work and then leaving the morning after, unaware that Killian would become vengeful of Tony's brush off.

In the midst of his early life, Tony became friends with Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes, which he calls Rhodey. He hired Virginia 'Pepper' Potts as his personal assistant, whom also became a close friend. He hired Harold Hogan as his personal bodyguard, but Hogan also drives him around as a chauffeur when needed.

Skipping an award ceremony and forcing Obadiah Stane to accept it in his absence, Tony of course was gambling in a nightclub, where Rhodey confronted him. On the way home reporter Christine Everhart wanted to ask questions, but they ended up sleeping together, as Tony does.

The next day Tony embarked on a trip that he was three hours late for, to Mazikhandar. On the business trip to demonstrate the Jericho Missile, his convoy was bombed by a missile from his own company. He lost consciousness and later woke up with an electromagnet attached to his chest, which was hooked up to a car battery. The electromagnet kept the embedded shrapnel from entering his heart and killing him.

The Ten Rings terrorist group held him captive, demanding he build them a Jericho Missile. Instead, he and fellow captive Dr. Yinsen secretly built a crude, but strong power armour fuelled by a miniature "arc reactor", a smaller version of a power source previously invented by Tony.

Dr. Yinsen was killed in the ensuing escape attempt when he stalled the guards to buy Tony enough time to power up the suit. In the suit, Tony killed several terrorists, destroyed their weapons stockpile, and escaped, though his suit was destroyed as he crash landed in the desert. Upon being picked up by the Air Force and returning to the United States, Tony declared that his company will, for the time being, no longer manufacture weapons. His father's friend and business partner, Obadiah Stane, told him that this move was blocked by the board members shortly thereafter.

Tony removed himself from the public eye to concentrate on building another suit. He refined he size and flight capability. During this time he asked Pepper to help take the old reactor from his chest and install the new one. Once it was done, he told her it should be destroyed, but she later gifts it back to him with the words 'Proof that Tony Stark has a heart' circled around it.

When faced with the realisation of what his company had done, Tony chose to donn the power suit and became Iron Man.

Personality

Personality:

Tony Stark is well-respected in the business world, able to command attention when he speaks on economic matters by virtue of the fact that he was born and raised as the son of Howard Stark. During his own lifetime, Tony has built his own base who will one day listen to his son just because it's his son. As the public face of the Iron Man itself, which is not just the prototype of but the first among all the human-occupied battle armors, he has the attention of investors in every field which provides a greater leverage than simple respect can even dream of. He is known for the loyalty he commands from and returns to those who work for him, as well as his impeccable business ethics.

Tony likes attention, women, being right, spending money, and his incredible car collection. He hates being handed things, he hates people that hurt people he loves or innocents, and he hates bullies in general.

Tony also likes his alcohol, which causes him to get into a bit of trouble at times.

Abilities

Genius Inventor:

This is the ability where Tony really shines. As one of the most brilliant people around, he applies his intellect to engineering most often. He can make virtually anything, given the right parts (or sometimes the wrong parts). Some of those things explode or overload or have other interesting 'features', but invention and innovation is Tony's zone. He is not a scientist, he is an engineer, and this is an important distinction. He is not usually aimed at discovering truths or knowledge, but he is a builder, and creating concrete results in the form of objects and material things. This can be anything from weapons, to armor suits (obviously), to robots and AI, to vehicles and power sources and energy fields and portals to other worlds... the list really just goes on from there. Inventions include holograms, sensors, security measures, and more. Items with extreme potential are limited to plot use (such as time travel) and are plot staff approval only. In general terms, if magic can create a particular effect, there is a way for tech to do it also, though it may have different requirements and dangerous side effects!

Skills

Acrobat:
Through his training, Stark has learned to increase his agility and perform acrobatics.

Business:
Tony is extremely capable as a businessman and face for his company, though usually he lacks the actual interest to USE this ability in a good way. When motivated, Tony does very well for Stark Industries, and is a wily leader in making a great deal of money. He has a good sense of what moves his company should make, and has broadened the profile of his company a lot over his time as CEO. He just also doesn't usually give it full attention.

Combatant:
Tony is trained in unarmed combat and has become quite formidable on his own when the situation demands it.

Computers:
Both of Computer skills and hacking go hand in hand in a lot of respects. Tony's a programmer and software creator, to an extreme degree, able to create artificial intelligence of a powerful order. In the same zone, he can quickly hack into other people's systems to take control or to cause havoc. Breaking into most security is usually not even a problem, though if he is up against another high order programmer like himself, that could be another matter. Usually he will use an AI he created to double-team a problem, which is where he is truly potent as a hacker.

Indomitable Will:
When the chips are down, Tony finds the strength to push forward. Kidnapped and forced to build a Jericho Missile, he instead built a mini Arc Reactor for his heart and the Mark I suit.

Intuitive Engineering:
While Tony is an inventor, he is also extremely intuitive about how other things work or are put together. He loves to get into other people's tech and figure it out. He is highly adaptive, and there is not a piece of tech he has met yet that he hasn't been able to jury-rig into serving his aims instead of the owner's, given the proper opportunity. Alien tech is a wonderful thing and can be reverse-engineered into all sorts of creative applications!

Leadership:
Tony's powerful charisma and ability to lead and drive others is a cornerstone to his success. He is inspiring to employees and Avengers, and tactically minded enough to actually have good instincts on where to lead. Much of the time, though, he is 'winging it', and it is truly just his intelligence that brings him through in the end. His charismatic nature draws people to him, but there is that piece under it of being able to truly bullshit well enough to pull through and come up with something that wins the day.

Marksman:
Tony knows how to handle firearms, mainly the ones he has produced.

Science!:
While not truly a scientist (Tony is more interested in engineering applications) he has a great standing knowledge of physics and other related areas of science. Biology tends to elude him the most, but many principles of science and running tests in the scientific method are well within his skill range. He is a creative chemist, to the point where he has been known to invent his own elements via his engineering applications.

Strength:

Even without his armour Tony Stark possesses strength training a little beyond than that of a normal human. He also engages in moderate regular exercise. People don't expect this of him.

Resources

Ai and Robots:
Tony has built several extremely efficient AI. JARVIS is the best example of these. Just A Rather Very Intelligent System, or J.A.R.V.I.S. is the system assigned to the tower, and manages everything inside. JARVIS is able to do any number of tasks, such as searching for information, processing data very quickly, programming to adjust security measures on the fly to any number of hacking attacks, and similar feats. JARVIS is programmed to intuit things Tony may mean or need, but is always polite and helpful to others that are within the trust protocol he is given. Tony has other AI systems as well, though they are generally confined to the areas they are associated with, such as fabrication within the bunker, or running a particularly advanced aircraft. Tony is constantly upgrading his AI systems, and using them to augment his own considerable software programming abilities. Tony similarly has physical robots which do all sorts of functions. He treats them with some reverence, and doesn't dispose of robots even if they become outdated: he finds them new work, or upgrades them. These robots can be used for all kinds of applications within the tower, the avengers mansion, or as drones in the field. Suits of armor Tony is not currently wearing fall into this category, and can be remotely piloted as robots to assist on a particular goal, such as saving a bridge from collapse.

Arc Reactor:
Tony has an Arc Reactor imbedded in the center of his chest next to his heart. It protects him from the shrapnel in his body entering his heart, but it also is an extremely potent power source. It could potentially power Stark Tower on it if the appropriate leads were assigned to it (although that would be hugely dangerous to him if it were still attached to him). He can use the arc reactor to switch massive power into other things or inventions, though doing so always brings personal risks to him physically.

Armour:
Of all the things Tony has built, his identity as Iron Man is the most iconic, and probably the most important. Over time the armor evolved from the bulky suit (mark 1) made in the middle of nowhere out of scraps; it is now a molecularly-aligned crystallized ultra high carbon iron. It is exceptionally durable, as that is it's primary function, and can withstand rockets, lasers, torpedoes, and heavy duty physical punishment. High caliber ammunition does little to no damage.

The armor is powered from the arc reactor as an additional power boost, but most of the armors he wears are powered by combination sources: solar, power cell, and a generator inside them, so that they do not require the reactor dependence. The suit is also capable of converting energy it may be exposed to into power, to some degree.

The suit has a large number of feats. It is able to push a great deal of physical power, bolts, and beams. Flight (much like a small jet propulsion) and maneuverability are through the repulsor tech. Speed and reactions are enhanced, and missile arrays are available, although those are more limited to a specific number of shots, and can run out. The Uni-beam can be used as both a powerful searchlight, but is also a powerful weapon that can put out a lot of strength. The Tri-beam is a version of the uni-beam, and will drain energy very rapidly, and requires lengthy charge. Beams can be fired from hands (with accuracy assistance from the computer), and plasma effects can be achieved as well.

The suit has an onboard computer and HUD display, making great use of the variety of sensors: all manner of various sensory equipment is available, allowing scans of buildings and access to other local sensor equipment (or satellites) to get a strong picture of what is going on around the suit. Suits can link into local systems and disable security, as they contain very powerful computers. The suit can boost accuracy, but he can also override it in times when he prefers to Use The Force.

Safety protocol within the suit can be overridden if desired, creating even more nasty versions of the weapons or capabilities, but this is not without considerable cost (that beings safety)!

All suits have inherent backdoor controls that Tony can access, so that should something go awry, he can get in and shut something down, or stop someone else from taking something of his. He is very careful with security due to thievery attempts, and always tracks where his possessions are. Due to this, when in a suit (or looking for another suit), he is easy to find using his own tech, should he go missing while inside it.

So far, he has built Mark I through Mark VII.

Various hard limits:
Even when not travelling for extended distances, the armour enables the wearer to move and react at very high speeds. The armour can typically reach speeds in excess of Mach 8 in flight as well.

He is capable of lifting up to 100 metric tons when wearing his armour and can achieve higher levels of strength when powered by a sufficiently more powerful source.

Avengers:
Tony founded the Avengers, alongside several other notable heroes, and has leadership standing among the group when he chooses to step into that role. He can expect Avengers to follow his lead, and has full access to all Avenger related equipment, communications, and similar facilities. He maintains the facilities, in fact, so these are particularly under his purview.

Billionaire:
Through inheritance and his own hard work, Tony is a multi-billionaire. He is easily one of the wealthiest men in the world. Even if Stark-Fujikawa were to go under, he has amassed more than enough wealth to live in the lap of luxury for several lifetimes. 'Perks' include private jets (and their hangars), yachts, fancy cars, penthouse accommodations, lap of luxury vacations, stylish clothing, huge events, other luxuries, etc.

Contacts:
Tony knows a lot of people, both in the area of influential people, famous artists or actors, supermodels, politicians, lawyers, world leaders, and in the world of heroes. Other heroes immediately tend to accept his leadership and trust him in dire situations, which can be invaluable. A police chief might hate the playboy aspect of Tony, but can be expected to back him up even if he comes up with a weird request of the police force. He's trusted by many, which means he has considerable call for resources from an ally standpoint when needed. Or he can get the best bands at his parties.

Hulkbuster:
The Hulkbuster armor is a specific specialty armor. It is far larger than the normal Iron Man versions, with equipment associated with fighting a powerful melee opponent: specifically, the Hulk, but it can handle similar fighters in type. The main difference, in addition to size and resilience, is the ability to swap parts in and out quickly as they are demolished, and to fire restraints that will delay such an opponent or move it out of a location (such as a grappler that can grab a fist and rocket the opponent into the air in a direction). This suit of armor is not able to maintain high power levels forever, but it is very good at protecting Tony while he diverts or delays a foe of massive strength levels of around 100-125 tons. The armor comes with drone-pods that come along to perform part swaps and repairs, to dynamically adjust with the needs of fighting this style of foe. This armor is clumsy and cannot do many of the fine tune finesse items Tony prefers in general, so it is used only when the need for such scale and layers of protection are obviously needed.

Stark Tower:
Stark Tower is a massive building in Manhattan owned by Tony Stark. It is both a place of business for Stark-Fujikawa, but also houses his main laboratory and fabrication areas. It contains massive areas for his high-tech parties and shindigs, and the penthouse at the top is his personal home. Connected to the penthouse are the laboratories and the 'bunker', the fabled place where Iron Man suits and similar tech are made and housed. The Tower has the finest of security that Tony can come up with, a place that most would find impenetrable without extreme means. And even then, there are further security measures that might be 'unpleasant' to encounter even if someone got inside! The tower and the facilities in it is capable of creating most anything Tony can dream of, assuming he is present to create the things! The tower, additionally, is full of robots and AI, which do all kinds of functions, from fabricating armor or designs Tony designates, to cleaning the penthouse, to putting out fires.

Stark-Fujikawa:

He is the C.E.O. and the technology company, which develops and manufactures advanced weapons and defensive measures. The company also manufactured the armour worn by Iron Man and War Machine. It built the helicarriers used by S.H.I.E.L.D. As the CEO, Tony Stark has full control over all parts of the powerful corporation and everything that goes with that. He has the power to hire or fire employees, to change direction of the company, determine what products or business deals are (or aren't) being made, and so forth. He has access to any of the company's broad range of facilities, vehicles, and resources, globally. This is a multi-billion dollar company, and while he can't completely do something crazy due to a board that can keep some of it in check, he has proven himself time and time again, and has a lot of free reign. Through the company he has a great deal of employees that are very loyal to him, including personal assistants, that help him with all of the tasks necessary to keep the company going even if he is busy with something else. He would be difficult to remove as CEO, as he is also a majority stockholder.

Weaknesses

Alcoholism:
Tony has been battling against his alcoholism due to the high pressures of running his industrial company, maintaining his social profile, and being Iron Man. Tony's relationship with alcohol is a variable one, but it is always around. He is particularly likely to drink in heavy stress, or parties, or a Tuesday. This is a never ending 'battle' that he often is not aware is a problem. He can slide into episodes where he is constantly drinking and hung over, which make him of very little use to anybody. Tony can be difficult to interact with and combative while drunk, though he usually is a happy drunk, but his risk-taking behavior goes through the roof, and can put him in hot water.

Arc Node Dependence:
Tony has a medical device of his own creation imbedded in his chest. It keeps the shrapnel in his body from entering his heart. The shrapnel is, at this point, something he will have to live with, and cannot be removed without killing him. This medical 'life support' object is, in fact, required to stay alive. It is also very difficult and confusing for others to repair. This means that if he were somewhere without those that could repair it or understand what it is, and it should fail, there is a high chance that he could die. He can't live without it for more than about ten minutes, give or take a little, and usually is not in a state to be able to self-repair if it is torn out of him. This device is also a very powerful power core, and can power a number of other things (such as a city). If he overloads it, he may also die, if it is no longer able to keep him alive.

Arrogant:
Arrogance and confidence can come from the same place, and Tony often walks on that line. His confidence often is read as pure arrogance, which can cause different types of social problems. He particularly has issues with authority, such as government officials, which can bring him special scrutiny he didn't really need. Even if he's going along with someone there's usually some posturing and snarking jabs, so those that don't have patience for it may not react well to Tony.

Attention Seeking:
The spotlight is exactly where Tony wants and needs to be. In addition to those problems that come from fame, there is also a deeper psychological one: a need for attention, which fuels a great deal of his motives. The parties and other big organized attention-grabbing events are fuel for his personal ego. It goes with positive motives often as well (like Philanthropy!), but there's a pleasure for his personal self as well. He needs to be noticed and lauded, and doesn't do well in situations where he doesn't get to shine.

Energy Drain:
While the Iron Man suit has a myriad of offensive and defensive capabilities, each and every one requires the energy the suit absorbs, slowly, and uses. When this runs out, if it isn't given a chance to recharge, it will begin to draw energy from the Arc Reactor embedded in Tony's chest, which causes new problems.

Fame:
Fame is something Tony loves and thrives on for the most part, but it comes with big disadvantages. The main one, of course, being enemies that want to murder him for various reasons. There's a long list of people that want to be rid of Tony Stark. He also has no hope of going anywhere without recognition, even in disguise. He is not an actor, and is recognized on his voice patterns alone. Stealth is entirely out; even a baseball cap and sunglasses doesn't work! Usually lots of people come up to him, and can get in the way, or even into harm's way.

Family Tragedy:
Tony has a rough backstory of murdered parents and so forth. It has created the man he is now, his defense of his close friends, and has shaped his outlook. References to his parents and what happened to them, in particular, can cause strong reactions from Tony. It is a button that can be pressed if someone does it in a smart way. It isn't like he made a Batman persona or similar, but it can get a considerable rise or cause Tony to lose his temper.

Playboy:
A well known flirt and bachelor, Tony Stark dates around. It's given him a reputation that could cause social stigma, depending on situation. It also means he lends towards not having a steady emotional support, and doesn't always recognize his behavior as being problematic for future relationships he might actually want to have. There's some growth that needs to happen here.

Risktaker:
High risk can mean high payoff! It also can mean really crashing and burning hard. Tony will take risks for the high of the risk, and usually his bravado and competence can carry him through insane ideas. There are times when his gambits don't pay off, though, and he can create truly horrible things that he may regret for a long time.

Silver Spoon:
Problem? Lots of problems can just be solved by throwing money at them. Tony doesn't have much of a concept of life without money, and has a hard time empathizing or understanding a life without his 'things'. He is extremely materialistic, though it isn't an intentional thing. When called on it he'll adjust usually, but he might just buy new suits instead of washing them, or other things that other people would find appalling. He lacks some life skills due to this upbringing.

The Legacy:

Tony is aware he won't be around forever, and has an obsession related to what he will leave behind, and his responsibility to the world. That his company be doing positive things and headed in the right direction is of great importance: his personal value is directly wrapped up in what positive impact he has made in defending the world. And if he fails, it is all the heavier. There is a lot of stress and guilt and difficulty over the place he finds himself in with needing to produce this great legacy.
