Profile

Jack Burton, trucker extraordinaire, has been hauling, boozing, and gambling his way across the country. He'll tell anyone who'll listen a story about having been caught up in the wildest Chinatown gang war he's ever seen in his time on God's green Earth--but what he's been far less ready to tell--until he's well in his cups--is that he thinks he hasn't seen the last of those crazy bastards...or that they're even the worst mothers he'll run into.

Description:

This white man stands about six feet in height and just a tad under two hundred pounds. The man's dark hair is slicked back over his head and almost reaches down to his neck in mullet fashion. His eyes are brown above a nose with a slight cleft in its tip, while his square jaw sports just a hint of five-o-clock shadow.

The man's build is athletic, with bare, well-toned arms and a chest barely covered by a white tank-top featuring a faded design of a Chinese figure and yin-yang symbol. The shirt is tucked into a pair of dark blue jeans, which themselves are tucked into knee-high leather boots buttoned up along the outside of each leg.

Personality

Personality:

Headstrong: Once Jack gets an idea in his head, he's going to make sure he sees it play out ... even if (as is often the case) the realization of that idea is entirely different from what he'd imagined. (An alternate descriptor for this quality could be "My way or the highway.") On the plus side, it means Jack is rarely if ever going to back down from any number of obstacles placed between him and his anticipated goal.

Stumbling into luck: Jack's kind of a moron, i.e. not the brightest bulb, and even when he's not acting foolishly headstrong, he often misunderstands the world beyond the specific circumstances of his own life. In fact, more often than not he manages to fumble and bumble his way into lucky break after lucky break--or, just as frequently, he misinterprets someone else's hard work (that indirectly benefited him) as his own hard-won and well-deserved success.

Well-intentioned: Despite being a headstrong idiot, Jack ultimately IS a pretty good guy. He's not out to harm others but instead just wants to make a living. When he sees problems affecting others, he tends to step in and try to help (regardless of any relevant skill Jack might need to overcome said problems). This, of course, leads him to new hardship of his own, and the "headstrong but lucky bastard" paradigm is maintained.

Abilities

Reflexes:

As in, it's all in the... Jack is blessed with above-average reflexes than can be razor-sharp at times. Being able to catch a bottle flying at his head...or a knife...reveals his reaction time to be the upper limit of human maximums.

Skills

Dirty Fighting:
For all of his talk, Jack actually is a pretty skilled street fighter. There's as much chaos as discipline in his technique, and he's entirely unafraid of heading into a skirmish to fight as dirty as he possibly can--whatever it takes to win the fight.

Streetwise:
Jack is highly learned in the way of the road, of the street, of the CB radio. He knows guys that know guys that know guys. Jack can get his hands on a lot of goods and find information tough for others to hear about. Sometimes, that information is completely wrong. Sometimes, his deals land him in the wrong back alley on the wrong dark and stormy night. But, all the same, Jack knows how to navigate his way out of the problem...usually.

Truck Driving:

Jack's an expert trucker. He can and does haul just about anything, so long as the price is right and the highway's calling his name. Need someone to get a full cab into a skinny side street? Avoid jack-knifing along a switchback? Clear an overpass with centimeters to spare? Jack's your man, and don't you forget it.

Resources

Friend Network:
Jack has a network of friends all across the country, as a result of his years hauling cargo. Nearly any city has someone he knows by name as an acquaintance, and more than that in some places. For example, in San Francisco, he is an honorary member of the Chang Sings, and is known as a hero in the Chinatown community there.

The Pork-Chop Express:

It's an oldie but a goodie, Jack Burton's primary vehicle, a 1985 Freightliner FLC-120 with the usual amenities - sleeper cab, mini-fridge, WiFi hotspot - as well as some added defenses after the Little China adventure - a ram plate for the front bumper, bulletproof windows, steel inserts to protest both the engine and the occupants, and a heavier engine to haul it all.

Weaknesses

Loyalty:

Jack is fiercely loyal to his friends, not matter what they get into. This can often place him in some very dangerous situations. But he rarely hesitates at the chance to help out someone who needs help, if it's doing the right thing.
