Description:

Lanky, lean and lethal. Well, maybe not that last part but who's going to tell? Miles Morales is growing into his own. Big brown eyes, and a bright smile full of youthful energy and optimism. The round features of youth are starting to fade, lending a sharpness around the eyes and a more defined jawline. Long limbed and athletic, he's got the build of a natural runner or gymnast. Narrow. Fit. The embodiment of energy given over-priced sneakers.

While personal time is a rarity, Miles can more often than not be caught in a school uniform or his not-as-yet iconic costume. Well, sort of costume. A midnight black, skin tight affair with ghostly silver webbing. Reflective silver eye shields and an eye catching red spider emblazoned across his chest and back. Either he's not yet comfortable in the onesie or he likes layers, Kid Arachnid often has an oversized hoodie, basketball shorts and surprisingly well kept running shoes.

Stylish. Sorta.

History

History:

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NYC to Jefferson Davis and Rio Morales, Miles enters the world screaming, bloody and adorable. The only son, he recieved the whole of their attention. Granted, that sometimes waned as both worked high demand jobs but Miles occupied himself well enough and kept out of trouble. Mostly. Father a police officer, mother a nurse, Miles gravitated toward his Uncle Aaron when time allowed. His parents didn't know this and would not approve due to Aaron Davis's background of crime and violence. That's not the side Miles was presented though. Miles grew close to Uncle Aaron, the two bonding over street art and kung fu flicks.

It was during one of these secret visits to his uncle's that Miles was bitten by the genetically enhanced spider that Prowler(AKA Aaron Davis) had stolen from an unknown source. Having come to tell his uncle about winning a scholarship to a prestigious school, he instead left with... super human abilities. The bite nearly killing him, he instead recovered over night. New, improved and scared out of his mind, Miles tried to hide his abilities as best he could. That didn't last long.

Discovering his wall-crawling, Miles started to tag and paint more inaccessible areas. With what? Mostly his usual style of highlighting personal struggles but more and more he's mirrored the accomplishments of Spider-Man and other webslinging heroes. Stylized murals depicting costumed heroism. In his spare time from school, he painted. He dated. He made friends. Discovered more powers still. Prepared to move into the new dorms and... experimented with his new powers. Even saved a lady from a burning building!

Which, of course, gained attention.

Now Miles is putting on spandex, running walls and doing his level best to live up to the standard set long before him.

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.

But more important to Miles is the equally powerful question: What would Spider-Man do?

Personality

Personality:

Compassionate. Miles feels. He can't help it. A soft spot for those in need, he finds it difficult to leave someone in a bad situation. The kind of guy to give a homeless woman his last five bucks. His school uniform jacket to someone cold even though he's going to forget it and get chewed out at home for losing yet -another-. Miles will dive head first into a burning building to save a man, woman, cat or dog without a moments hesitation. Isn't that what he's supposed to do? It's what his dad would do. What Spider-Man would do. Seems good enough for him.

Brave. Sure, that's pretty basic. There are millions and millions of brave souls out there... and then there's Miles Morales. Personal danger, future consequences and common sense be damned. If there's something wrong, if someone is in trouble and nobody is stepping up? Even if they are, yet not doing it fast enough? Miles jumps into it. He puts himself in the crosshairs for the same reason his heroes would: Somebody has to. Why not him? It's this selflessness that separates him from the average. While most brave men and women are quick to leap into a potentially dangerous situation, Miles dives in with no intention of backing out until the wrong is righted.

Idealistic. Holding yourself to a high standard is one thing, comparing yourself to near impossible feats of heroism and self-sacrifice? That's a toughie. Miles is walking a path few would ever consider in their wildest dreams. Super Hero. But not just any! A friendly neighborhood super hero! He's taken this stance further with the addition of youthful, teenage optimism and a hardline stance that you don't have to win to be a hero. You just have to try.

Abilities

Bio-Electrokinesis:
Miles is able to manipulate the natural electricity his body generates. So far, he's only utilized this ability for offensive reasons. Able to store and release this energy with some concentration or as an instinctive defense.

* Venom Blast - Miles can release stored energy as a bio-shock to enemies and technology. The severity of this attack depends on many factors such as 'charge' and conductivity. This seems most effective on beings with genetic alterations.
* Venom Punch - Charging his fists with bio-electric energy before a punch can greatly increase the power of his strikes.
* Mega Venom Blast - Able to release a massive burst of stored energy in times of extreme stress, Kid Arachnid can cause large scale damage in a 30 yard radius. Using this completely exhausts Miles to the point of unconsciousness.

Regenerative:
Possessing an enhanced stamina already, it's should come as no surprise that Kid Arachnid heals much faster than a normal person would. While not instantaneous, he's still capable of healing broken bones, burns and cuts in a matter of days. Massive injuries may still need medical professionals to reset shattered bones but given time and attention, he could possibly even bounce back from a spinal injury.

Spider Physiology:
Gifted with the proportionate abilities of a spider, Miles Morales far exceeds human physical limitations. This rather thorough suite of bodily and mental enhancements altered Miles at the genetic level.

*Enhanced Agility - Gold medal gymnastics is amateur hour for this young man. Superhuman muscle elasticity and improved connective tissue make him unnaturally limber. Uncanny balance pairs excellently when doing corkscrew flips away from rockets and such.
*Enhanced Reflexes - Coupled with impressive eye sight, Miles benefits from reaction times easily exceeding twenty times the human limit. Bordering on precognition, he's absurdly quick and frustrating to hit.
*Enhanced Stamina - Able to maintain peak exertion for hours upon hours without fatigue, he's able to keep a pace few can match before needing to rest and restore.
*Enhanced Strength - Capable of easily lifting up to five tons, Miles tops out near an eight ton limit but is capable of moving up to ten tons of weight in extreme stress situations. This, of course, greatly improves his running speed and jumping to almost impossible levels.

Spider-Camouflage:
Not an option on the standard webslinger package, Miles Morales can turn invisible. His skin, his clothes and to an extent, small objects in his posession. While not perfect, this active camouflage is impressive enough to fool direct line of sight. This does not negate sound or environmental disturbances.

Spider-Sense:
Bordering on precognition, Miles has the ability to sense impending danger. An early warning system of a sort, he feels a buzzing sensation in his head when disaster and damage target him and, to an extent, those around him. Most often, it's an aggressive tingle in his skull that alerts him to a bullet about to be fired at him. An ambush from the shadows. A blade coming in from an unseen angle. Then there are the dreams. Strange and vivid, he doesn't yet know that it's a warning of impending doom.

Wall-Crawling:

Miles can cling to any surface he touches. It's been theorized that he subconsciously manipulates the electrostatic force between himself and an object. Perhaps a side-effect of his bio-electrokinesis. Able to adhere to surfaces through gloves and even shoes, direct skin contact is clearly not needed.

Skills

Freestyle Fighter:
He doesn't have years of villain brawling under his belt. Infact, he's got very little experience with violence period. Relying on his superior agility, speed and reflexes to keep an edge in a fight, he employs a strange mix of kung fu movie tactics and raw talent. With some more experienced mentors, Miles is becoming quite the unexpected force to be reconned with.

High Art:
Art is his passion. When not jumping around the city and fighting crime, Miles Morales unwinds with... illegal street art. Vandalism. Urban Beautification. The irony of a super hero breaking the law to unwind is not lost on him. He's actually very talented with it. Add wall crawling and super jumping and he's expanded his medium much higher.

Linguistics:
Raised in a bilingual household, growing up in Brooklyn, you pick things up fast or lag behind. Culture and diversity at every corner, Miles finds it easier than some to pick up new lingo and languages. English, Spanish and he's working on Japanese. With effort, he could easily learn a multitude of exotic tongues.

Math Wiz:
A head for numbers, this kid is going places. Game Theory being a bigger interest, Miles shines brightly when immersed in probability and statistics. He's a details kind of person and nothing gets more detailed than infinitesimal calculus.

Roof Runner:

The web heads have a tendency to loiter far above street level. Way above. Taking a pretty deep knowledge of the city streets and expanding it vertically, Miles navigates a city like few others. A natural free runner, he blends acrobatics and speed to make his own short cuts. Rooftop to rooftop, power line to flag pole.

Resources

Class Act:
Having tested and been chosen for a special scholarship or two, Miles' parents chose the best for their one and only son. His higher learning comes with a dorm room, food and security. Not to mention lab access, computers and other resources. Within reason.

Costume:
Iconic. Well, getting there. Maybe. Kid Arachnid's costume bears the telltale spider images and web patterns that mark him as a web slinger. While not exactly of global recognition, it definitely gets attention both good and bad around the Tri-State area. If he's respectful or annoying enough, he can count on pulling additional support due to the accomplishments of others.

Major Mentors:
Kid Arachnid, by way of being new and personable enough, has managed to find himself under the wings of more than one big time super hero. This is absolutely invaluable to Miles as he pulls experience from multiple sources. Able to call on harder hitting support when you -really- need it is sometimes only a frantic text away.

Son of a Badge:
While not something Miles can abuse in any way, being the son of a NYC police officer has its perks. If he plays his cards right, he's able to get information on some criminal activity. Sometimes just guarded street rumors but a head start is a head start.

Web Shooters:

Gifted a set of old model web shooters from Peter Parker himself, Miles Morales cam fonally web swing around town. Compact and near flat in design, these web shooters house multiple cartridges each of web fluid(tm). Incredible tensile strength, this formula disolves after an hour in the open air. He can use this fluid to create a kind of rope that he uses to swing from, or simple structures that resemble spider webs.

Weaknesses

Big Bad Uncle:
Aaron Davis. Better known as the Prowler, a renowned and reviled thief, is the uncle of one Miles Morales. Sticky situation to be sure but once Prowler puts one and two together, he will likely complicate things further. Prowler having stolen the enhanced spider that bit Miles could easily be twisted back upon the young Kid Arachnid.

New Hero:
He's not exactly seeing his mask on t-shirts, you know? Kid Arachnid is fresh, relatively unproven and easily mistaken for other web spinning vigilantes. Heck, most big time cape wearing sorts may not even recognize him as a fellow fighter for truth and justice! It's all rather unfortunate.

Secret Identity:
Nobody knows and Miles wants to keep it that way. If he's unmaked, the problems in his life will multiply so fast that the chaos will definitely impact those close to him. Nevermind jail or college plans, people could die.

Spider-Sensitive:
Miles has a problem. His Spider-Sense borders on 'too good'. It's distracting for a beginner webhead. It wakes him up in the dead of the night with vivid dreams, can make him abnormally tense in seemingly safe situations and sometimes triggers responses that may seem a little excessive.

Student:

Giant robots attacking Soho during third period? Unless Miles finds a darned good reason to skip class, Kid Arachnid is going to sit this one out. Very, very begrudgingly. Homework, class projects, calls to his parents if he gets too rambunctious, he's got consequences coming if his balance between hero and student shifts too much.
