News Files: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The very same ooze that mutated Hamato Yoshi and four baby turtles in 2007, also blinded a young Matt Murdock, giving him his super-senses. Yoshi, now known as Splinter, raised the turtles in the sewers under Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, and taught them the ways of Ninjutsu. The treatment of mutants, and in particular, the fate of the Morlocks, kept the Splinter and his students underground for many years, but teenagers rebel.

Some off-limits exploration of the surface led to their meeting April O'Neil and clashing with the Foot Clan, which in turn led to them meeting the sports gear packing vigilante, Casey Jones. The Turtles' fight with the Foot Clan ended with the apparent "death" of the Shredder. Since then, they've come up from the sewers more often to help their friends, and generally kick butt on the streets of New York, striking hard, and fading away into the night.

Despite rumours to the contrary, the Shredder didn't die in his fight with Splinter and the turtles. He survived and continues to run the Foot Clan from the shadows, with the help of his "daughter" Karai, and Kitsune. The Foot Clan is a world-wide criminal enterprise, with the modus operandi of recruiting youthful members, training them, and giving them a sense of purpose and family, thus ensuring their loyalty; if that doesn't work, defectors are hunted down and killed.

The Foot Clan is assisted in its work by the Purple Dragon street gang, and two hulking mutants named Bebop and Rocksteady. In addition to the Foot Clan, Shredder also runs Stockgen, a major biotech firm under his real name: Oroko Saki.

Unknown to most the Foot Clan, the Hand Clan (Elektra) and the League of Assassins (Ra's al Ghul) share a common origin, their strings being pulled from behind the scenes by some unknown force.

Characters from the series appable as AFCs, FCs, and VFCs. Usagi Yojimbo however, is not appable.
