Profile

During a time period of great unrest in both the physical and magical worlds, Nina was a powerful magic user trained by the Ancient One to act as an ally and investigator of magical issues, problems, and mysteries. Things were bad enough with wars raging in the physical world that the Ancient One was having issues putting all of the genies back in their bottles (both figuratively and literally). Nina was sent out by the Ancient One to handle these various issues until sometime in the 1950s she simply vanished from all known history until...today.

Dark skin and dark hair gives belies this woman's Latin heritage. She wears a red hair tie in her hair to keep it up and to the side with a soft wave in her hair going down to her shoulders in a style reminiscent of the mid 20th century. She wears a light blue button up shirt with high blue collar folded down and sleeves cuffed up to her elbow. A pair of braces fit over her forearms that appear to have several pouches and pockets on them though what is in those pockets are not clear. She wears a pair of yellow fencing gloves over her hands and her soft feminine form shows hints of whipcord muscle.

A pair of bellbottom pants fits up to her waist, held up at the side by red buttons. They form fit down her thighs and to the knee where they billow out to the bells that made such things famous. A pair of red boots fit over her feet, not combat thick but still tougher than normal shoes.

History

Nina learned of her magic at an early age with her brother when they were learning magic tricks. It seemed to run in her family and both children seemed to have a natural gift. While her brother ran off to carve his own way however, she was found by the Ancient One. Trained with the intentions of potentially being Sorcerer Supreme but also with the plans to keep her on as an ally against all the magical problems of the world, she was trained in many different magical fields. When things started to become hectic and problematic in the years that followed, she was sent off to investigate many magical issues.

As time passed, she was used to deal with many problems that the Ancient One simply didn't have the time to deal with given all that was happening in the world. Nina had to go off and face, track, and finish many problems on the level of a Sorcerer Supreme.

Time would pass however, and one particular enemy would get the better of her and trap her between worlds, frozen in a time bubble that would remain untouched and unmoved for decades. In the year 2026, however, just as things started to get more and more hectic in the magical community, magic would come together just right to spit Nina back out into a time and world she knew nothing about.

Personality

Most would call her brash and cocky. She's gung ho to get into a fight, doesn't mind using fighting to get things done, and often things fighting is the best way to handle things. She is smart as a whip but she doesn't use it as much as she simply uses her ability to fight. She is a guardian but one of the offense, not the defense. She believes in actions over words and in a way she is using this to hide her own insecurities. She prefers it mainly because the more she thinks, the more she thinks about how she might mess up a situation. She loves fiercely and when she does find someone to be a friend (or more) she'll do her best to never leave them behind. She is brutal to those she hates and often comes off as either dismissive or judgmental due to her tendency to just tell it like it is.

ASTRAL PROJECTION
She can project her spirit from her body and into other areas. She can send forth her soul to distant places and defy all logic. She can pass through things in this form, fly, and even cast spells. Powerful magics can still effect her in this form though most mundane things cannot.

SIGHT
She can see magic, plain and simple. She can see auras, curses, spells, and even can use her sight to see tracks left behind in the latent living power of those that pass. She can pierce the veil of reality and see what is beyond, see into other dimensions that border our own. She can even sense the very power of the world itself, the way that magic and ebbs and flows through it. While there isn't to say someone or something that could fool her sight, it'd take quite a bit of power to do so.

SORCERY
Having been trained by the Sorcerer Supreme to be a potential replacement means she was talented, perhaps among the most, in magic. Nina was taught by the Ancient One and had a natural talent in magic since she was quite young. She is capable of performing amazing magical feats within many different schools.

  • Evocation: Capable of conjuring the elements for the purposes of destruction. She can create infernally hot fire, powerful blasts of lightning, and deluges of water. The power she wields has a direct correlation with how much time and effort she puts into the casting. A quick cast might be the equivalent of a grenade while a conjured and properly spoken spell might bring forth wind like that of a tornado or simply an eldritch blast of magic. She can enhance this further by focusing her power through her enchanted weaponry.
  • Conjuration: Her true bread and butter, she can use her magic to bring forth objects, elements, and energy. She can use summon up animals, demons, and elementals via this form of magic and much like other magic, the more effort she puts in the bigger the conjuration.
  • Alteration: She can use this power to harden skin, enhance muscle, and otherwise alter things around her. This power focuses on enhancement and protection and is further enhanced when uses through the Bindings of the Demon K'Hur. These bindings allowing her to focus magic more easily of this kind to further enhance her shields, physical abilities, speed, and even flight.
  • Enchantment: An area of talent for her as well, she can enchant items to enhance their abilities and make them more capable of channeling magic. She can use her magic to further improve items she picks up to make them powerful, tough, and even give them special abilities beyond the norm. This school of magic even can be used to charm others if need be.
  • Illusions: In this school is the ability to create non-real constructs, invisibility, and otherwise fool the minds of others. She can make others believe they are seeing something they are not, cloud the minds of people, and conceal the presence of a great many of people.
  • Banishment: This power specifically focuses on removing non-native creatures from a plane they aren't native to. The more powerful the creature the more effort she'd have to put in to remove them. This power doesn't harm, simply sends things away.
  • OOC Note Illusions and Enchantment of the mind are based mainly on consent when it comes to between players and illusions can be seen through if someone is powerful enough or requests consent.
  • Power Levels Note: Her overall max range on spells is up to a mile away if she has sight on it and her overall area of effect can be as much as a city block though the level of power she can effect is inverse to how large an area she can effect. An example is she might be able to produce fire as hot as the sun that could pierce the dimensional walls if she were to focus it into a point as small as a bullet or she could light a bonfire level of heat across a whole city block. Shields or defensive spells could potentially be tough enough to withstand a nuclear blast though the same AOE effect applied here. The more she shields, the less effective. With a great deal of effort and cost she might be able to bypass these limits though they'd be arduously draining as noted in the Cost of Magic weakness.


WILLPOWER

She's potentially one of the most stubborn and hard headed women of her time. She would have made the top 10 list of most hard headed people if there were a poll. Beyond even just her training she was always hard headed. She is quite difficult to fool with any form of mental attack or to break either.

COMBAT
A skilled fighter, trained by master and life alike, she is capable with blades and guns alike. She is very capable to the point of being able to challenge masters in their field with her blade work and marksmanship. She has had to be a talent given the enemies she has had to face in her time working for the Ancient One.

INVESTIGATION
Having been assigned to investigate many magical mysteries in her time by the Ancient One, she has a talent for investigation that combines with her magic nicely. She would be, by today's standards, be considered a talented detective. Combining magic with investigative know how, she is her own forensics lab, able to spot small details, find meaning in hidden clues, and put pieces together quicker than most.

OCCULTISM

She is well versed in the occult and while her mind is not up to date on the most recent of things, she is very well aware of most things occult up until the 1950s. She has had to be in order to face, fight, and contain the threats that faced the world. She is well aware of many spells, demons, and other supernatural entities.

B.O.T.D.K.
The Bindings of the Demon K'hur are magically created bindings given to her by the Ancient One. The bindings are spell holders. Designed to be given a spell or spells that then grant her that spell for an extended period with no form of concentration. She could, for example, send a flight spell into them and then they would hold that for upwards of an hour without having to be recharged unless she dissipates the spell earlier. Any enhancement style spell can be pushed into them either by her or another if they have the knowledge necessary to activate them.

EYE OF TRUE NORTH
With the will and mind to use it, the Eye of True North can point the user toward whatever they are looking for. It can even point them at things that are beyond the realm they are in if they have the means to lead them there. If held out and focused on, they can simply follow the direction it points them and succeed.

WEAPONS

Currently she has two pistols and two rapiers with pistols built into them at the hilt. She has enchanted these blades and guns to be much harder to break, making them tougher than diamonds and capable of channeling her magic fairly easily. She put these weapons together through magic, designing the gunblades and with magic she can repair them though any damage would take time and concentration to repair given the enchantments on them.

ASTRAL WEAKNESS
When using Astral Projection she has to leave her physical body behind. This means that she is vulnerable to attack and/or assault on her physical body while she is away from it unless someone or something is there to protect it.

BRASH
She is, well, very brash. She tells it like it is, doesn't see a point in keeping it to herself and will often tell people just how things are. This often is off putting and it also makes it harder for her to work well with others.

CONFIDENCE
Her confidence is one of her biggest weaknesses. She uses confidence to hide a lack of confidence. She often questions if she was really the right choice for her lot in life. She places a veil of overconfidence in place to hide her lack of confidence. This bravado can get her in trouble at times.

COST OF MAGIC
The cost of magic is high. It weakens one over time in the same way that going for a run can. She combines physical fighting with magic and thus burns her stamina out slowly through time. She has to consume a lot of food and also be careful not to burn herself out when she uses magic. It bounces back on one hard when you alter the bounds of reality. Not to mention that the level of magic she plays with can and often does draw the attention of the wrong things so she must be careful at all times.

ENEMIES
Given her time working with the Ancient One, she has made many enemies. These enemies are very long lived so even though she is over half a century removed from her own time, they will not have forgotten her, not have died, and likely not forgiven.

WRONG TIME PERIOD

She isn't from this time period. That means she not only doesn't understand the modern world but she lacks a historical knowledge from the year 1955 to late 2026. She will miss a lot of references, not understand what has been happening in that time, and often stand out due to her cultural preferences.
