Profile

Prisma is a light-based creature that can inhabit crystalline structures and, if it's given enough articulation, force them to move, like a living statue. She hails from a distant gas giant with a crystal core, though it's long since shattered, spreading her kind out far throughout the universe to discover other life forms. Now that she's found them, Prisma intends to protect them from interstellar forces...and occasionally, themselves.

Description

Prisma's either found in one of two forms: a light form, or a prism form. Her light form is a massless, shapeless blob of raw light that refuses to obey the laws of gravity, while her prism form is a six foot living statue made of some kind of crystal. It has basic eyes and arms, but possesses a very obvious feminine figure. It lacks hair, though, and instead, crystalline chunks sprout from her head, as if whoever carved her gave up on making hair.

History

Prisma was born a few thousand years ago on a lonely gas giant, in it's diamond core. She was taught what others of her kind knew, and occasionally toyed with crystalline structures. Luxauran life was simple, to put it plainly. But her people begun to feel vibrations of radio waves from other civilizations throughout their planet, and shattered their core into many parts to explore the greater universe and discover other life forms. Prisma's only just recently arrived on Earth, and she intends to learn as much as she can from these new creatures.

Personality

Prisma is a bit new to this whole "matter-based life" thing, and it's pretty obvious. She reacts with curiosity to all the new things around her--food, clothes, cars, concrete, glass...That's not to say she's stupid or airheaded, either. She's very intelligent when it comes to crystals and light (of course), and she knows her math, the language of the universe, she just has no idea how physical life forms go about their daily lives.

In a fight, Prisma's quick to leap into action, but she'll hesitate if she feels the situation needs reassessed. She's prone to fits of recklessness and heroism, but that's not to be mistaken for stupidity. If she thinks a risk will pay off, she'll take it. If she thinks it's stupid and dangerous, she'll likely tell her comrades how stupid and dangerous the risk is.

Abilities

LIGHT FORM
In her natural form, Prisma is made of pure energy, and, to the naked eye, looks like a shapeless mass of light. In this form, she can't do much. She can't speak, can't hear, and can't see. The most she can do is sense her immediate surroundings by feeling where her light bounces off of, though that only gives her the shape of objects. She can't even pick up anything, either, leaving her options to interact with the physical world quite limited.

On the plus side, she can fly around, up to 50 MPH in an Earth-like atmosphere, and up to light speed in a vacuum. She's also mostly invulnerable to physical attacks, though the heat of anything moving fast enough can hurt a little. Superspeed punches would be the best option for physical fighters.

PRISMATIC BLAST
A fancy way of saying "energy beams". Prisma can shoot out beams of consentrated light out of her hands, though this uses herself as "ammo". It's incredibly taxing on her to use it a lot, and, if overused, can eject her from her prism entirely and render her unconscious, as there's not enough of her left inside it. The light used in the attack dissipates into the air finely enough to be invisible to the naked eye, and slowly is absorbed back into herself, taking her up to ten minutes to wake up if she manages to eject herself, and a full day to recover and be in fighting shape again.

PRISM BODY
Perhaps her most important ability, Prisma can force her light form into any crystalline structure and inhabit it. If there's any sensory organs carved into it, such as an eye or ear, she can use it as if it were real, though the better carved it is, the clearer the vision, hearing, etc. This extends to limbs as well, as arms and legs carved into the stone can move and bend at will.

In this form, Prisma won't instantly die from Darkforce, which her prism protects her from immediately being snuffed out, but offensive blasts can still hurt her. Additionally, even punches launched at peak human strength will only just barely crack her, leaving superhuman strength a much better option.

Skills

CRYSTAL SHAPING
It sounds elegant, but it's honestly much more brute force. Luxaura can shatter crystals they inhabit, or slowly chip and carve away in smaller increments. Smaller crystalline particles, up to the size of a fingernail, can be fused into a larger chunk, allowing Prisma to recycle bits easily. This can allow her to repair her prisms if she has crystal shards on hand, or, if she's feeling particularly reckless, weaponize her exploding suit, at the cost of leaving herself vulnerable, and destroying a very difficult to create prism. Typically not worth it, but possible.

HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT
In her prism form, Prisma's main form of combat is simply a variety of punches, using her hardened fists for extra strength. While she isn't trained in any form of martial arts, she prefers a more bruiser type approach, with quick dodges and heavy blows. She's about as strong as anyone at peak human strength, but with the added bonus of not being made of flesh and bone.

Resources

CRYSTALLINE SEED
A chunk of crystal no bigger than a baseball that Prisma fell to earth in. It's probably worth quite a bit of money, but right now, it serves as Prisma's home.

Weaknesses

LIGHT WEAKNESSES
In her natural light form, Prisma's weaknesses and resistances are basically switched. Darkforce is the quickest way to kill her, as it snuffs out all light sources (i.e., herself), though she can also be damaged by heat and energy attacks that can dissipate her form, causing her to take up to a few days to fully pull herself back together.

PRISM WEAKNESSES
In her prism Form, Prisma is weak to superstrength, which can crack and shatter her body, and light magic, which can forcibly shove her out of her prism. Swords and hammers can do the job as well, though the former can start to dull, and the latter still wouldn't be as good as a superpowered punch. There's a reason Superman doesn't wield a hammer.

SPECIES

Hidden deep on some far off corner of the universe, many lightyears away from the Milky Way Galaxy, a large gas giant slowly rotated around it's sun, with few other planets to keep it company. Under the layers of this gas giant, hardened by billions upon billions of years of pressure, a diamond core rested. The gas giant's hostile atmosphere made quick work of snuffing out any microbial life, but another kind of life slowly emerged. The light of the sun just barely reached the crystalline core, and as the light rested within the core's center, trapped within piezoelectric crystalline lattices, beings of pure energy slowly grew.

Luxaura, they called themselves. Intelligence gave way to culture, and culture grew to a society. The Luxaura dwelled within the diamond core itself, and quickly learned to shape it and alter it to suit their needs. However, they were too afraid of the heat and pressure of the gas giant's surface to manifest outside their core. They never cared to leave, either, as they simply assumed that heat and pressure was all there was past their globe of crystal.

But as they milled about within their core, something else slowly entered their planet. Music. Radio waves from distant planets began bombarding the crystal, echoing throughout the core. The Luxaura quickly learned there was more than just them out in the universe. There were others.

The Luxaura quickly turned their focus toward the skies. A few missions sent chunks of crystal out into the void, seeds they could potentially grow on other worlds in a few hundred years, with Luxaura inside, yet few made it back alive. And still, they lost pieces of their home each time, even upon return entry, where the crystals shattered against the mother core.

And so, the Luxaura voted on continuing their search for life. There was near unanimous favor for the idea, and, with one last goodbye to their planet the Luxaura cattered throughout the core, before shattering it, scattering their people across the universe, to seek out life.
