Owner Pose
Felicity Smoak The IT department never gets the glamorous offices. Marketing is up on eighteen with a great view of the city. Sales on floors nineteen and twenty often argue over just how far they can see on a clear day. And of course the corporate big wigs up on the top floor.

No, It is down on the second floor. Just high enough the trees on the grounds outside block much of the view. But then Felicity Smoak tends to be one of those worker bees who doesn't engage in lengthy daydreaming out the window.

"Oh, what were you thinking," she murmurs to herself as she reviews the install of the newest Redhat on one of the new servers, Felicity taking off her slightly horn-rimmed glasses to rub at the bridge of her nose. "I should have done it myself," she says, reaffixing her glasses in place and beginning the process of wiping the server image back out for reinstall.
Oliver Queen It was last night that this all began. It was all very much routine for Ollie, or shall we say Green Arrow, not exactly going over a Redhat install but doing surveillance on a drug exchange going on at the pier. New players from what he could gather and .., chinese? Very well, he couldn't exactly understand them but he could rummage and search for what these guys are up to in Starling City. "Diggle, I am going to investigate further."

That brings a grumble from the ever-faithful bodyguard, he isn't used to improvisation. Guess the routine surveillance isn't that routine anymore. Fine, he can comply to that.

Meanwhile, on the next day, and while Felicity is so happily installing Redhat on a server a mail pops up. It's from Blevins, the draconian director that rules over the second floor with an iron fist.

"Smoak,

We have someone coming in to take a tour of the second floor. High up, get ready." Blevins doesn't even give a time on when this 'high up' person will come down. So thoughtful of him.
Felicity Smoak The incoming email pops up, Felicity having set a filter where mails from her boss get tagged for instant notifications. Originally it included the Darth Vader theme as a notification sound, but she nixed that after she barely closed her laptop in time mid-meeting while her boss, also in the room, was hitting send on a group email.

"Degree from MIT so I can play tour guide to some suit and tie," she grumbles to herself, "While the real work goes undone." Felicity gives a little shake of her head, but checks herself to make sure she's presentable. Blue blouse, white skirt with stripes and some flats.

"Could be in IT Girls of 2027," she comments to herself. "Though maybe just a short month. February probably, where everyone peeks ahead to March already once Valentine's Day is done." She continues working, but tries to keep an eye on the door. But quickly gets immersed in making sure the right network drivers are loaded this time.
Oliver Queen Being a human vigilante, and fragile as just any other human, made Ollie develop some good stealth skills, he climbs down from the roof, moving around crates to listen. He catches some glimpses of english. 'hit', 'kill list', 'white'. Not just enough to know exactly what is going on but ..., he moves further. Further enough that he gets in contact with a startled grunt. Alarm is given, chaos ensues.

Battle ensues, punch, kick, tip of the bow knocking the first guy down and then he spots the others running, laptop there..., tricky but he can take the shot.. He shoots, trespassing the computer (in a non-vital spot), and in the meanwhile also hitting the running-away goon. The guy drops the computer and runs away, but he at least got something.

Meanwhile, on that same night, computer recovered, he is considering his choices. He is no IT tech, nor is Diggle, the rest of the team is out..., this is urgent. Mail is sent to Blevins and the rest is history...

He makes his way downstairs, all the way from top floor to the second one. He hasn't really been here much to be honest and it will be a good opportunity to meet the workers, as well as getting some investigation done on this computer. He opens the door and starts walking down the cubicles, already some buzz-buzz heard from co-workers, mails sent. "OMG"

"Can't believe it's him!" and all such messages that spell impending doom.
Felicity Smoak One of Felicity's coworkers steps in to her doorway. "Did you take down the new servers?" She glances up from her monitor and gives a nod. "Yeah, they were installed with the old image that used the OpenHat Blockchain. Which means, none of them would be able to tap into our inventory system. So. Reinstall. And more... work... for... me." The guy in the doorway gives a groan. "Ah, nuts. And I heard there's some tour happening soon on top of it."

Felicity lets out her own groan. Her eyes are on her monitor as she makes the changes to the config file, not realizing that the coworker she's talking to is looking down the hall and spotting a very recognizable face. He bails to go look productive, leaving Felicity talking to an empty doorway. "Probably some empty-headed suit come to take up productive time. But hey, that's ok. I can be Your Ships Cruise Director Felicity when needed. Right?" she asks. It'll take a second of non-response before she glances up.
Oliver Queen Screw suits! Oliver makes his own dress code, the perks of owning a company so no suit ant tie, no siree, he dresses in corduroy pants today, of a dark brown colour, his sweater a beige colour, very neutral though the only concession he makes to more formality is the briefcase he carries with him. A smile is given to a few cubicle minions he passes by but he is making a beeline towards Felicity's office.

In truth, he cheated, he had already given a look at the profiles from the IT personnel, there was one that popped up, top of her class, near genius grades, there was potential there and so his mail to Blevins was simple "I am going to tour IT tomorrow. Get Felicity Smoak to give me the tour." and so there he goes.

He stops in front of her door, still catching those last sentences. He is amused but his expression is but a neutral smile when he says, "Good morning, Cruise Director." yes, he heard it.
Felicity Smoak Felicity lets out a laugh, not realizing the person in the door has changed. "Exactly, and you are-" she says, glancing up from her monitor. "... not Captain Stubing. That is, you are a captain. Or captain-like. If this building were a boat. Which it isn't. It isn't waterproof and would immediately sink. Much like my career."

Felicity rises slowly from her chair. "Sorry, I didn't realize you were there, Mr. Queen," she says. "I was just... babbling. You... are you still interested in that tour?" she asks, trying to work around that sinking feeling that her next communique from her boss will be a slip, in the color of pink.
Oliver Queen "Nor are you Cruise Director Julie." Yes, Ollie knows his classics, or at least some, from his times as a playboy, before the island... His smile gets just a touch more reserved upon recalling those times and he steps inside the room, briefcase still on his left hand. He walks closer to Felicity, extending his right hand for a shake. "Ms. Smoak, good morning. I am very much interested." he says, setting the briefcase on the table, eyes staying on the woman's.

"I have been told you are the person to talk to where it comes to IT. I am certain you won't disappoint." nothing like some extra pressure. Or maybe he's just giving her a little test, he likes doing that from time to time with those he finds an interest in.
Felicity Smoak Felicity shakes Oliver's hand as she is up close to him for the first time. Usually she sits in the back of the few big employee meetings he's presided over. The green of his eyes stand out, which just adds one more distraction for her to deal with.

"Hopefully not any further," she says to herself of the comment about disappointing, though he might have caught it. "Well I'm your girl," Felicity tells him with a smile. A smile that gives way to a concerned look. "By which I don't mean your girl girl. I mean, I am a girl girl, but not in that... I mean would you like to start the tour then?" she asks.

Felicity lets go of his hand to move to the door. "The majority of the IT department is centered down here. We do have an IT bar on every floor manned by 2-3 people usually. More when new rollouts are happening and demand is higher. The rest of the staff are here. And we have a small server farm in the north part of the building, though much of our computing is outsourced to the cloud now," Felicity says.
Oliver Queen The years as that reckless playboy, and now that he is one a prominent figure in the city means he deals with people all the time, having no time in keeping eye contact with the blonde girl, green gaze staring, almost as if studying her posture. Perhaps a few moments longer then he'd be normally give someone... He shakes that feeling off, blinking once when the hand is released and he stands in a relaxed yet attentive manner, hands clasped behind him, "That's the spirit. Hope I won't prove myself to be too empty headed." it's said in jest really, and a little jab at what she said earlier.

But then it's business time and he follows her to the door, looking about the IT department while she speaks, "What would you change here in the IT department if you could?" he asks, ready to follow her about.
Felicity Smoak Felicity doesn't quite manage to hide her wince as Oliver Queen shows he heard the empty-headed comment. "Right, why don't I show you the server farm," she suggests, motioning down the hallway to the one of the most visually appealing things the IT department has to show.

Jenkins, the guy who had stopped in her office right before Oliver arrives. He subtly flashes her a post-it note on which he's written: SO FIRED.

Felicity clears her throat as she leads Oliver towards the secured, double doors behind which the servers are housed. "Oh, where would I start?" she says, before realizing that might have sounded bad.

"That is, there might be a... few... small things. Like the choice of laptops for most of the staff. Saved us $100 each. But they are prone to motherboard errors and overheating, which were known before the decision was made. And which cost the employees probably a few hours a month on average to deal with. So that $100 saved?" she says, snapping her fingers. "Gone in the first incident they had because the cheaper unit was used."
Oliver Queen Green Arrow watches the blonde nerd, and even if he doesn't show his amusement he is that kind of man that likes someone who is genuine, like someone who winces so openly. "I am in your hands this morning." he says of that suggestion for them to visit the server farm. He begins to walk down the hallway along with Felicity.

Already the cubicle harpies are peeking about, eagle-eyed and watching what is going on, buzz-buzz. And Jenkins, that traitor, he is the worst of them all.

"Short-term saving in exchange for the long-run..." that makes Ollie's expression sober up a moment, he likes to plan things long-term, and he tries to do the same with his company. This seems to go against what he'd wish. "Get me a list of the proper laptops which should be used." and then before she takes that as something to do right now he adds, "After the tour.." his eyes go to those double doors.
Felicity Smoak Felicity gets a bit of an impressed look as Oliver acts to set matters right on the laptop front. "Yes, I will," she tells him, looking a little heartened. Even as the sight of Jenkins peeking over the top of his cube makes her wonder if it'll be someone else handling the roll out. Well, maybe sharing the information about the laptops will be enough to make up for earlier. Now Felicity just needs to not mess up again.

She smiles and replies to his statement, "I am very good with my hands. Not that... ah... right, the servers are in here."

Pink slips fill her head again.

Felicity unlocks the door to the server room. Racks of computers sit behind plastic dividers that keep the heat in and rising towards powerful vacuum pumps above them, while cool air flows in from beneath. It's also LOUD.

Felicity leans closer to Oliver, calling loudly to be heard. "Anyone in here for very long uses hearing protection of course, though a short tour isn't an issue. We have our most sensitive data here, as well as a copy of anything business critical that is in the cloud!" she yells, her hand moving to rest on his side to avoid bumping into him as she leans close to be heard.
Oliver Queen And Ollie certainly seems genuine about wanting to make things right where it comes to making things right in the IT department. This are part of his people as well, those he protects, and he wants them to feel secure and happy in the job they perform. He remains in that stoic posture, watching the inside of the server room, not exactly seeming to mind too much of the sound. He has had worse ..., Black Canary can really raise her voice when she wants to afterall...

The comment about the hands makes him chortle, but he covers it partially with a cough, hand up to his mouth a moment, composure regained swiftly enough, he can be smooth. "And these serve our needs right now?" he questions, no IT guru, but knowing enough. "The further we get things into the cloud the less we have the need for these, but I wouldn't want our servers to get overloaded because we decided to go with a cheaper option."

But to say all that he has to be close, closer, and suddenly he finds himself very close to the blonde one, his ear turned to her so he listens and then in turn he turning his head to her to speak.
Felicity Smoak Felicity's mind has so much to deal with, that she actually put on a little perfume today would never make her thoughts. There's a guy downstairs in her apartment building, sometimes she sees him at the mail box. She had him in mind when she put it on, but didn't wear enough he'd ever be able to smell it even if she ran into him again.

Not unless it was in a server farm room where she had to stay really close to be heard. "Well, there are good and bad things about the cloud! There are some things, our key data, I just don't know that we should entrust to others!" she calls to Oliver.

She leads him through the server room, letting him see the racks after racks of machines. And then back out into a quieter back hallway. "In the basement there's a giant flywheel spinning. IF the power goes out, it'll keep spinning for about 45 minutes, enough time for us to get the backup generators going, or gracefully shut down if that were needed," she explains.

Felicity looks around. "That's mostly it for the parts of IT you can see," she tells him. "Did you have other questions?"
Oliver Queen Oh, the perfume. That certainly reaches Oliver's senses, so close he is to her. A temptation to almost make him reach with his hand, unconsciously maybe but it'd seem right, though he catches himself in time. What is he doing? Focus! That may even pass as some disinterest of what Felicity is saying, the man appearing distracted as he gathers himself up. But he answers. "Secrets should only be given out to those we trust!" sure, he raises his voice too so they can communicate with each other. Nothing like some back and forth shouting.

But he follows along with her through the room, out to the quieter hallway, without a need to shout anymore, ufff. "Nothing more about this, but I have a couple more when we are back at your office." so ominous. But at least he has a faint smile to his lips, that pleasant one of his, green eyes staying fully on the Cruise Director.
Felicity Smoak Felicity senses the distraction from the CEO. Not a good sign, she's sure. Probably getting bored. She wracks her brain for something interesting to entertain him with on the way back to her office but is coming up blank.

"I really do love it here at Queen Consolidated. There's a lot of great opportunities," she tells him, then hiding her wince at how lame that sounded. They arrive back in her office. "I'll put the recommended laptop list together," she says, deciding to focus on reminding him of the high point. "Was there anything else specific you were interested in, Mr. Queen?"
Oliver Queen "I am glad you find yourself pleased at working here. You have the kind of potential we look for here, Ms. Smoak." Ollie says in perhaps some reassurance to the blondie. He did notice some insecurity during that tour afterall! He walks with that steady step of his, following her to the office and then stepping near the briefcase he left there, opening it.

"Yes, indeed I do." he brings out ..., well.., it used to be a computer, but now it's a scruffed up thing and .., is that a hole on the side of it? "I have had this computer for a while, it's not exactly in the best of shapes.." oh really? ".. yet I wanted to recover whatever info can still be found on the harddrive."
Felicity Smoak Felicity's confidence certainly takes a bit of a boost at the compliment. A soft smile just starts to show at the corners of her lips after hearing it. She looks at what Oliver takes out of his bag with interest.

"Wow," she says, taking a look at it more closely. "Do I need to bump durability in the list of laptop requirements for executives?" she asks him. "I mean, not that that's necessarily a problem. I mean you look plenty sturdy," Felicity says, and then gives a little shake of her head as she hears what she said. "That is, I'm sure a sturdy computer is a good thing," Felicity says.

She looks the computer over. "I'll see if can get anything off of it," she says. "Can I get your password for it assuming I can get it running?"
Oliver Queen There's just a moment there when Ollie can't seem to know what to make of Felicity, with those quips of her that leave him offguard like that. 'Sturdy', he would chortle again but instead he blinks, and he smiles, even if he'd prefer to be chuckling in delight. But ah, that wouldn't fit a CEO, would it?

"No, that's a personal computer, and you know how it is. Dangerous neighborhoods..." perhaps he should had found a better excuse before coming here..., but then again he does have that playboy reputation, maybe it was a disgruntled girlfriend that did this..., a very vicious one.

And then he shakes his head, "I do not have the password anymore, but was hoping someone of your skills could get through those protections. Can I count on you?"
Felicity Smoak "Don't know the password anymore. Well, I can... give it a try, getting in," Felicity says. And not really wanting to admit to her hacking prowess in front of her boss, given her actual past in that area. Though, she second guesses herself then. She doesn't want him thinking she can't.

"I'm sure I can get in there. Just I might need a little time, that is," she tells him, smiling up to Oliver. "I'll get to work on it," she says. A finger goes over the hole in the case. What kind of wild life he must lead!
Oliver Queen It's just an innocent hole! And it's not like it looks like a bullet hole... The shape of it is a bit odd... Regardless, Oliver seems pleased with that answer, it had been his aim coming here afterall, along with meeting Felicity. It turned out better than he expected. Much better actually. "Good. I am sure you will do your best." he gathers his briefcase, closing it. "Let me know when you find progress in it."

He reaches inside his pocket, bringing out a card with his name and a phone number written on it. "I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your help. Also, compile a list of the computer changes we should have here on the department and then we will run it through Blevins. Sounds good?" he steps closer to the door, the meeting certainly near to a close.
