Blink After the altercation up here during the spell casting by the avengers, and where the snow was up to 40 cm it's lowered considerably now, but there's a little amount still left, helped with the fact that it's actually snowing again, even if very lightly.

Blink has choosen the roof to perch today, squatted down near a ledge and seemingly almost in a precarious position if she wasn't known for her penchant for acrobatics and besides..., portals.

She looks quite different from when Nathaniel will have met her before, now without the disguise to keep her mutant features out of sight, unnatural bright green eyes, face marks and the ears that make her almost seem like an elf. On her hands is a small puzzle box which she seems intent on working on.
Samuel     Snow, snow, wonderful snow... A wondrous sight to some, a nuisance to others, an ode to winter for sure. But alas, it does play merry havoc with the satellite reception as it piles up in the dish, and as before Bean has volunteered to go deal with the issue. So just before lunch he has climbed onto the roof with a broom, making his way across the slippery surface with the self confidence of a tightrope walker. "Oh, hey Clarisse. What's up?"

*Thump* *Thump* goes the broom on the dish as he begins to sweep off the snow.
Andrea Heading up to the roof is Andrea, who was looking for some fresh air and a bit of 'perspective'. She has her guitar with her, even though she is bundled up for the chilly weather. She has on a knit cap, a puffy pink parka and a pair of snug blue jeans along with fingerless knit gloves. As she trudges out onto the snow covered roof, she pauses at the sight of the others. "Oh, hey guys." She says with a frosty breath as she lifts a hand up to both Blink and Samuel. "Trying to get the TV back on?" She asks with amusement.
Nathaniel Carver Nathaniel comes into the roof, not long after Andrea. He had seen some unexplored parts of the school grounds during his three-mile run with Bean, so it's a natural response for him to want a better look. "Hello, everyone," He greets, as he looks out.

It is a gorgeous view. Nathaniel looks briefly mesmerized, tucking a curl of white hair behind his ear. He spots Clarice, and well, blinks. Twice. "Hey," He doesn't recognize her at all from when she was at his old house. She was quiet and nondescript then, and her current appearance is so...loud. He clasps gloved hands in front of him and tilts his head, "What'cha got there?
Blink "Bean." Clarice murmurs, rather self-focused on the work she is doing on the box, using a little stick to move about the inside pieces of the thing. It looks intricate enough. But the sound of broom-brooming makes her peek up, then she getting up to her full height, inspecting what Samuel is doing.

Couple of steps are taken down the ledge, balance perfect, but just to be sure to stay out of Bean's way. Who knows how deadly he might be with a broom? Then her eyes catch sight of the other two newcomers, blinking owlishly, "Good morning." a chinjerk towards Andrea and then she tilting her head upon recognizing Nathaniel, and noticing how she doesn't seem to be recognized. An amused smirk comes to her lips and she says in way of explanation. "The exchange student." even going as far as producing a flourished bow of her own.

"And this well, a puzzle a friend got me. Told me there are important lessons inside." she shrugs.
Samuel     It's surprising how many of the current batch of students hang out on the roof, it seems. The earlier generation preferred the lake because the professor's wheelchair had issues with the broken ground and so was unlikely to show up there, and it seems the current generation is coming to the roof for much the same reasons. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Lethality of brooms notwithstanding, Bean seems to concentrate on his job too much to turn around when the new voices arrive.

He's currently dressed for winter, still in his black combat boots and many-pocket slacks, but over top of his grey hoodie is now a thick jacket, while sturdy gloves of the same design as Nathaniel's keep his hands warm... and is that a scarf? That is most certainly a scarf. Oh my. "Hey guys. Yeah, it's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it. Figured everyone would be having lunch now, what's going on? Party on the roof I didn't know about?"
Andrea "Not for me. I figured I could work on this song I'm writing on the roof and get some fresh air. Miss Blaire has been using the Music Room now that she's teaching here, and Gwen keeps saying she can hear me play in my room, so I don't want to bother her. Figured maybe the roof would give me some different angles." Andrea says as she puts the guitar carefully down, then swivels herself left to right. She has a bit of a shiner on her left eye that is yellowing.

"Hey, Nathan." She calls over with a smile, lifting a gloved hand up to wave to him. "It's cool that you're hanging out here now, Clarisse. I've missed you. Was hoping to see you at Lorna's coronation when I did my concert on Genosha. What a shit show that turned out to be, huh?" She dusts a chair off with her hand, then flops into it. "How far have you got in the puzzle?"
Nathaniel Carver     Nathaniel squints slightly, eyes widening in recognition a second later. "OH. Um. Clarice, was it? You don't...is that your thing? Do you change appearance?" His head shakes lightly, not knowing about Image Inducers yet. "I suppose your testimony is part of the reason I'm here. Thank you."

He manages a grateful and slightly amused smile and fumbles his way around returning the bow. It's mostly passable, for someone who hasn't spent time with among royals. "I don't know. I heard about the overlook," he explains to Bean, on him being here. He waves at Andrea and frowns, pointing to his left eye with a questioning look.

He looks at the puzzle box, fingers flexing. "Maybe solving the puzzle's the lesson. How long have you been working at it?"
Blink "Better you than me.." Blink quips back at Bean's mention of having to be about brooming things, but the quirk on her lips shows she is mostly jesting..., mostly. She isn't dressing too different from Bean, to be honest, black boots, snug jeans and shirt, a long coat atop the rest to finish the ensemble. No scarf though, a capital sin.

"As for a party, no, not that I am aware of but ..." Blink notices the popstar's face and asks. "What was that?" elegant fingertips gesturing towards the woman's face, as if everyone hadn't noticed the bruising. "And the puzzle.., no idea. It resets sometimes, mostly a WIP I think. I just hope it's worth whatever I find inside." curious nature fully in display.

"And Clarice, indeed, or Blink. Both will do. And ..., no, that was tech they have here. Bean can probably explain it better than I do." she shaking her head to herself a bit. "I am more old fashioned, normally going with make up and contacts. And I have been at this .., a few days." she then frowns a bit, creasing her expression. "Not exactly sure how many ... three four days?"
Samuel     "These things are usually about learning an important lesson while figuring out how to open it. You should probably take a break if you've been at it for four days, come back with a fresh perspective." A few more sweeps and Bean has the dish clear of snow, turning now to face the others, reserving a wink for Nathaniel and then a frown to Andrea.

"Okay, what happened? And don't tell me you walked into a door please."
Andrea "It was a few weeks ago. Big party on Genosha for Lorna's crowning. I held a concert there and slayed it. Was actually a good time until things got weird. We can catch up on that later." Pulling the guitar into her lap, Andrea strums it for a few ticks to feel the chords out.

As they all point at her face, she gives a shrug upwards. "Mister Guthrie and I were teaching Alexis how to do some basic fighting techniques. He wanted to spar with me. I dislocated his shoulder, he socked me in the face." She says with a grin. "He said don't hold back, and I took it seriously. Shoulda seen Jay's and Alexis' face. I think he expected me to stand up on him instead of use jiu jitsu. I took him to the ground twice and cheesed him off." She can't help the giggle that slips out. "He called me a busted rooster or something. Think it's as close to cursing as I could get him."

"When you solve it, let me know how you did it. I love puzzles but I'm terrible at them. So I kinda live vicariously through my friends. I could spend a year on a Rubik's Cube."
Nathaniel Carver     "If you need help, I could try and," Nathaniel chews on his lip, reconsidering mid-sentence. "Well, I actually don't think that would work out well. Sammy's right." Better she opens it herself than Nathaniel helps her cheat. A wave of relief crosses his expression as Andrea explains, and he grins, "Honestly, I was expecting worse."

"That doesn't look like it'll be pretty, though," he continues, dark eyes on Andrea's face. "We can fix it with a bit of concealer. Please tell me you're capable of doing your own makeup."
Blink "Well, I have heard Guthrie called a door before..., Or was it a door-buster..?" Clarice says at Bean's comment, fingertips tip-tapping on her chin, "But well, if it was in training then it's good." she shrugs, most likely used to that kind of beating on her own training back in Genosha..., with Sabretooth..., brrr... Then a mention to Lorna's coronation, her tone very neutral. "Sure, we can catch on that later."

Puzzle box has now gone to rest under her arm, her focus on the others instead of it, "And I do suppose a break would be for the best but..." she lets out a sigh. "You know how it goes, curiosity killed the cat. and I can be very curious when I want to."

But then her attention is down on her phone, a small frown, "Well, I wonder what -they- want." apparently it being something important, she wandering away from the ledge to begin walking to the stairs. "Need to go, I will catch up with you later. If you need make-up, well, I always got some around.."
Samuel     Ah yes, the coronation. Leaning on the broom, in a rather hazardous manner considering the state of the roof, he can't help but remember that day. "That did not go well. And I wonder if they ever found the ring I made for her, it got ripped out of my pocket when ... well, you were there, you know."

As for the shiner? Bean closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath, straightening up before fixing his gaze firmly on Andrea. "I can't believe I'm going to be the one to tell you this. But you and Mister Guthrie knew better than that, should have known better than that. If you want to spar at full force, you know very well where to do it, and given the consequences, that's clearly not where you were doing it. Were you just trying to show off?"
Andrea "Oh, I have self-regeneration in my war form. I can just shift back and forth and it will be gone. I just haven't had a chance to really bother doing it." Andrea explains with a smile, unconcerned for now. "Buuut, I will take you up on the makeup stuff anyways later since I'm curious to what you can do. I can do my own, but I don't spend a lot of time on it. Mostly just some lipgloss and eyeshadow here and there."

"Take care, Clarice!" She calls out to her friend. "It was awesome seeing you again." She gives a wave to her before she glances over to Samuel.

"Of course we knew better than that. But we also trust each other to not overdo it. I've been working with Guthrie for over two years now and we know each other pretty well. We were in the backyard. It's not like us being in the gym would have changed the outcome. I'd still have a shiner and he'd still be whining about his arm. Which really he got fixed in like five seconds. I've sparred with Logan out in the yard before, and Laura. It's not like we're attacking each other."
Nathaniel Carver     "Bye, Blink," Nathaniel waves as the woman departs but not without wondering why she's called that. Andrea's eye is examined once more, and Nathaniel laughs a little, shrugging. "I used to help out whenever my mom asked," he recalls, face darkening as he lingers too long on the memory of his birth mother. "I can also cut hair if the request is basic."

He doesn't add anything to Samuel's scolding or Andrea's defense. It's not his business, and he doesn't even know how to throw a punch, let alone how and where someone else should.
Samuel     "You knew better, but did it anyway. I'm just very disappointed." Bean mentions and slings the broom over his shoulder, shaking his head as he starts to walk back the way he came. He has his own way one and off the roof...

In passing though, he'll pat Nathaniel on the shoulder and give him a bright smile. "That was a good effort this morning by the way. Most people don't manage the full three their first time out." And then he's off, probably to go get lunch.
Andrea There is a loud snort from Andrea as she watches Samuel head off. "That guy has zero room to talk with the shit he's pulled. Only person I need to worry about disappointing is my mother." Her eyes roll upwards and to the side before she looks back to Nathan. "There is literally /zero/ wrong in sparring in the yard with a teacher. Before he came to this school, it's where we used to spar at all the time with the staff."

"Annyyyyways, you're working out with him, huh?" Her brows lift upwards a bit, then folds her arms over her chest as a smirk tugs upon her lips.
Nathaniel Carver     Nathaniel lifts a brow, finding another chair to sit on. He drapes his legs over the arm, his back on the other side, and looks out over the school grounds. "It was just a morning run. 6 AM," he says, face twisting in some distaste. It took some convincing himself to get out of bed that early, but in the end, he decided it would be worth it. "Might become a thing."

"I hesitate to ask what shit he's pulled..." He's curious, though. "Why haven't you shifted yet?"
Andrea "You know, typical stupid student stuff." Andrea says with a chuckle. "Nothing crazy, really." She says as she gives him a playful pop on the shoulder without any force. Love tap. "I get up and run at around that time also. I usually just put the headphones in and go by myself though."

As for the other question? She shrugs her shoulders upwards. "I don't know. It's hard to explain .. but.. you know how you got your hangups about your powers? I got mine. My power is scary. People hate werewolves as much as they do clowns, and I guess I don't want the kids here to associate popstar Andrea Jackson with eight foot tall monster that rips things apart."
Nathaniel Carver     "That's horrifying," Nathaniel replies, about Andrea going out and running too, basically in the dark this time of year. "He somehow managed to convince Shannon to join too."

"What are you talking about? Werewolves are mysterious and sexy, and everyone loves Chewbacca," He glances at Andrea and smirks, "You could always just do it in your room. Nobody would notice then, and there's plenty of space for you to go hulking around."
Andrea "I could do it in my room, true." Andrea says as she gives a smile, then lifts her shoulders upwards. "It's just that the last few months has been hard." She says as she retakes her seat and pulls her guitar in front of her again. "I got into a bad accident last year. Shot in the head." She taps the side of her neck where a scar remains. "It broke something in me.. I became... I hate to use the word crazy, but I started hearing voices and then they became personalities. One of which was the wolf. When I would shift, she would take over and it was hard to shift back. So, I started pulling away from shifting to keep her at bay. Now that one of the staffers was able to telepathically fix me, the voices are gone and I'm free and normal again, but I guess I'm just nervous if I was to shift again.. they'd come back."

Her fingers plink at the chords on her guitar lightly. "And I know that I can't hide from my powers either. I have to suck it up and do it. It's like anything else in life. You fall down, you get back up. I just need to trust my therapist and my teachers."
Nathaniel Carver     "Everyone's a little bit crazy inside," Nathaniel says about the use of the word. He looks back at the view as Andrea lays out her situation, chuckling a bit. "You sound like a fortune cookie," He grins. "Or a motivational speaker."

"Keep her in the dark if you're nervous about what you might find in the light, I say. I know I'm not the best example of mutant pride, though," Nathaniel offers with a pensive frown. "I definitely won't judge you for however you look. Like I said, werewolves are awesome. Not as cool as vampires obviously but up there."
Andrea "Okay, you're full of shit right there." Andrea says bluntly to him. "Werewolves are /way/ better than vampires. Werewolves you can at least snuggle up with, and we're warm, and we can give great piggy back rides. Vampires just sparkle and suck people dry and are pretty much lame and boring at parties."

"And you /could/ be a shining example of mutant pride. I could use some help out there in the world trying to show that we aren't monsters who want to blow up buildings. You know, I'm sure a lot of young teen mutants can identify with you." She hints as she reaches out with her foot to tap against his. "Do you want to see it? The wolf?"
Nathaniel Carver     "You're biased. Vampires are hotter and charming. Sorry, not sorry. What if I want to be sucked dry?" Nathaniel cackles, getting more comfortable in his awkward sprawl and playfully waggling his brows at Andrea. Some typical teenage boy humor right there.

He seems to disagree with Andrea's assessment of him. "I couldn't blow up a building even if I wanted to. Just me and my Midas Touch over here," He waves his fingers at Andrea, then shrugs. "I was going to ask for a song but..." Internally, he's steeling himself for what's probably going to be a monstrous thing. "If you're willing to show me, I won't say no."
Andrea "You don't need to blow up a building, Nathan. It's not about power, or what you can do. It's about being the best person that you can be and how you present yourself to others. Even if my power was to make my fingers glow and do nothing, I'd still do what I do, because I want young mutants to have a role model and to look up to someone and remind them that they are special and normal, just like anyone else." Andrea assures him with a bob of her head.

"And I can do a song for you. For me to go wolfy I'd have to take my clothes off and I'd rather do that in my room instead of on the rooftop in the snow. I'm not wearing the cool clothes underneathe right now. What kinda song you want? Want of mine or someone else's?"
Nathaniel Carver     "You're offering to take me to your room and strip? Won't Jay have something to say about that?" Nathaniel asks, relentless in his teasing, before touching more serious matters.

"I'm trying," he says, with a sigh. "I know that has to count for something. Would I like to inspire other mutants? Sure. I just don't know how I could when the only thing I do is run from it." He pushes gloved fingers through white hair, and lifts his eyes to Andrea's, again. "I don't care. Whichever you prefer."
Andrea There is a snort from Andrea. "I'm pretty sure he wouldn't care if it was /you/." She tips a wink to him, then taps the side of her nose. "Sides, I'd change in the bathroom and just trot out and show off my fur that way." She teases him back.

"Anyways, no pressure about being the face of the mutant franchise. I give this speech to everyone I meet. I am annoying like that. I just want you to be the best you that you can be. Try and find some inspiration inside of you to improve who you are as a person. It's what school is for after all."

As her fingers work along the chords, then she starts to sing to him in a soft voice, yet there is a subtle power behind it with that sweet rasp.

"On the surface, everything's just fine,
But nervous doesn't describe what's going on behind these eyes,
It's just too easy to fake a smile ..
But you got my heartbeat on repeat, going 'bout a hundred thousand miles!

My mind's racing but I can never outrun you,
You're two steps ahead, while I'm tripping over my shoes ..

A-N-X-I-E-T-Y,
No matter how hard I try,
You will never leave. Yeah, yeah ..
I-H-A-T-E-Y-O-U,
And all the stupid things you do,
I give in so easily .. You get the best of me."

A personal song with these lyrics. Mental health.
Nathaniel Carver     Nathaniel admires the view as Andrea really gets into the song. He remains a quiet, reflective audience, but smiles as she nears the end and looks to her as if he's looking at her under a new light. It's amazing just how much music can communicate. "Thanks. You sound better in person."
Andrea "Music always sounds better in person when you're not focused on the light show, the sick dance moves, the shirtless backup dancers and the overwhelming crowd that jumps around." Andrea says with a wink at him once she finishes the song. "Come on, let's go get some lunch. I'm starving." She says as he slides the guitar to her lap, then reaches out to snag his hand as she gives him a tug on it.
