Indigo     In the engine room, Indigo is indulging in one of her cleaning rituals, one she's been... 'protective of' isn't the right term. It implies a more active concealment. Better to say she's been shy of it, concealing it because she knows how different it makes her from everyone else, how strange. her left arm has split into a mass of writhing, metallic microfibers from the elbow down, each one not much thicker than a hair, and they're dipping into a barrel of synthetic lubricant in a series of scooping motions, like millions of the world's tiniest cat's tongues lapping at a saucer, drawing the oil into her body.
Viridian     Viridian, on the other hand, is wandering. She knows better than to bother Indigo when she is doing her maintenance and so she usually gently disconnects their network link at thesse time to afford the gynoid some measusre of privacy. It''s the only thing they don't share between them and Viridian just isn't that sort of a girl. This contributes to why it is the case that Viri has no idea that the engine room is where Indigo has holed up and so wanders into it simply because she is moving around the ship. With Peter and the othersout of the way she can investigaate anything she wants without any difficulty at all. She comes upon the sight of those writhing fibers draining the oil from a barrel and watches quietly for a long moment.
Blue eyes go wide, black hair suddenly turns green, and then Viri offers, "Oh, wow! That's so COOL!" Far fromm finding it awkward or embarrassing the girl's face lights up like a child on Christmas. She maneuvers her frame a bit awkwardly past the access hatch. "Is it.... okay if I stay for a bit?"
Indigo     One thing that differentiates Indigo from biologicals is that her mind moves too fast for her speech to stammer. She's embarassed to be caught, yes, but done is done, and she quickly decides/calculates there's no point waffling about it; these thoughts are completed before her mouth is finished opening enough to say, "It's okay. I'm almost done. I guess seeing it in person is different from seeing the schematics, huh?"
Her cheeks are a bit purple all the same, though.
Viridian     "Mmmhmm," Viridian agrees quietly as she moves toward Indigo with long, casual strides. She ends up scooting into place beside the gynoid, casually hopping up onto an engine casing to dangle her feet while she studies her girlfriend at length. "Besides, I haven't looked at your full schematics. They're personal." This is offered earnestly as blue eyes cat over Indigo's face. "So," the girl continues. "I'm going to hide out in here with you. Like always." She giggles a bit like that and her hair shifts to a rather bright green. "I love you, you know. Goofball. It's okay to hide things but you don't HAVE to."
Indigo     "I know, I just..." Indigo trails off, as if casting for words. She isn't. She doesn't need to. It's an artificial pause, to indicate her emotions in that brief moment of silence. "I'm already so different from everyone else here. Everyone else is so hard. I'm soft. Letting them see me like this just drives home how different I am from the people I want to be with."
Indigo is looking away, now. She's not sniffling, but her voice is very sad, at least until she briskly adds, "But that's me." She withdraws her arm from the oil and it begins weaving itself back into a proper arm, like a sentient spiderweb wrapping itself into a coherent, solid shape as each microfiber takes to its assigned task and lays itself exactly where it needs to be. It's incredibly precise work; reconfiguring her hardware is just about the only time to see Indigo looking absent... even if in this instance it's from behind, and measured mostly in the angle of her back and shoulders.
Viridian     "Hard? Like, personality-wise? All rough and mean and liking steal things and vandalize stuff and all that??" Viridan comes up behind Indigo and places her small hands on her lover's shoulders. The hiss of hydraulics releasing is audible as the frame is released. Then the girl carefully climbs out of it, wobbling, and leans into the gynoid, arms going around her to hug her close.
Viri breathes a soft sigh then, head resting on Indigo's shoulder for a long moment. "It's sad," she murmurs breaathily. "That we all have to be so hard. I like you the way you are. Soft or- not." There's a pause as she adds softly, "Being soft isn't weakness as long as you rebound. Hard things are rigid. They crack when they get hit too hard. But if you're soft sometimes you can go right back to the shape you were before."
Indigo     Indigo drapes her arms over yours, like she's hugging her own belly. "I know. I don't regret being me. I just wish I fit in better with everyone else. I've angered everyone here except you and Angela by trying to be kind to people, and I don't want to make anyone angry." She sighs and leans her head back into the half-human, half-Xandarian's.
Viridian     Viri just nods slowly, burying her head against you and taking a slow breath. "Yeah, well. I've pissed off everyone too. Families do that to one another," the girl observes quietly. She laces her fingers together over your abdoman and breathes a soft sigh, warm breath tickling agianst your neck. "Fitting in is overrated anyway! To that you'd have to stop being you. And no group is worth all of that."
Indigo     Indigo's fingers feel like fingers and nothing else, warm and slightly pulsing with a perfect replication of elan as she hugs her girlfriend back. "Even this group of two?" she asks wryly.
Viridian     "Not even this little group of two," Viri responds seriously, closing her eyes. "I'd rather lose you than make you lose yourself." She rocks slightly from left to right, swaying with her arms around you to keep you close. It isn't often she can stand like this and be so firm- but then if she loses her footing you're righ there for her to fall on. This seems to be enough. "But we're more like one anyway. You already do fit in, just as much as I do."
Indigo     "Better hang on tight," Indigo suggests, apropos of seemingly nothing, before bending forward sharply at the waist, carrying Viridian forward off her feet to half-lie on Indigo's back as the gynoid walks over to a nearby console, turns around, and backs Viri into it butt first so she can sit and Indigo can turn around to hug her properly. There are probably easier ways to do that, but her way was more fun.
Viridian     "Hanging on!" Viridian confirms quietly. Then she is giggling riotously as she is swept from the floor and carried over toward the nearby console. She's still laughing as you turn her around to set her on the console in question, slender legs dangling toward the floor. Viri isn't wearing any shoes. When she is being properly hugged Viri leans into it, pulling her closer bit by bit. "I love you," Viridian states firmly as this happens, closing her eyes.
Indigo     "I love you too," Indigo says simply, resting her chin on Viri's shoulder. Her cheek isn't quite nuzzling the biological's, but it is stretched out by the wide smile at Viri's giggles. It's nice to give her girlfriend a laugh.
Viridian     Viridian kissses the gynoid's cheek then and then fixes her with thaat bright-eyed blue gaze once more, leaning back int othe console on which she's seated. She doesn't remove her arms from Indigo's body, however, small fingersdigging gently into soft skin. "So you don't need ot worry about anything. Angela won't leave you... I won't leave you. We'll figure out the rest as we go. One thing about being alive... People get together and then move on from one another all the time. Someday we'll all go our separate ways. Quill... Yondu... Phyla-Vell. But then- it'll still be us. I promise. Kay?" As she speaks Viri wiggles her bare toes.
Indigo     Indigo smiles and nods, though she's paying less attention to Viri's words than she is the woman's toes. "Having a good day for your motor control today?"
Viridian     "Huh?" Now Viri is looking down as well. She blinks a few times. "I-I guess..." She is staring as well, her head tilting slowly to the left. "I didn''t even notice." Vaguely mystified Viri ultimately gives a light shrug. "I guess I am," she states more firmly this time.
Indigo     Indigo just smiles and bumps her forehead against Viridian's. "Sounds like it's a pretty good day so far."
