Sara Pezzini The call had come in at just after six. Dead body in an alley in Midtown. Pez had got up, got dressed, and got /there/ with coffee. Truth be told..there is truth to the stereotype cops love coffee. Sure it was generic average 'to go' coffee, but balancing it on the roof of her unmarked, Sara surveys the scene. Tape's up, uniforms milling around doing their CSI thing, the techs, going by the radio, are on their way. Pez is Homicide. This is a dead body.
Sara Pezzini Sara Pezzini says, "Five bucks it's a homicide" Sara hears taking a sip of cofffee. Normally she'd get to it. But right now, December, NYC....she's averse to it. Instead, Pez ducks under the tape only after finishing up her coffee and disposing of the plastic cup in a trash bin well away from the scene. Stepping over, Pez finds....a dumpster. The left half's open revealing a woman's head, and down to her shoulders. "Patrol called it in just after six, They were following up a complaint bout the smell" the uniform by the dumpster says as Sara's staring at a corpse. "We know who she is?" she asks. "You don't wanna open the other half of the dumpster, Pezzini" the uniform tells her. Sara's getting the idea that what's on show here....that's the nice, safe for the media version. And speaking of the media...they're making their camps here. Oh just great. Pez groans. "Hollanbach go deal with the media" Sara says pointing one of her Homicide colleagues to it. "I'll buy you lunch" she says

RThe rest of the corpse is not pretty in the least, it's the sort of twisted that only the most depraved corpses got. But it's the needle in her leg that makes Sara take notice. And the one in her jaw, and the one in her ribs, and....the ones in her wrists. This seems spooky somehow. Sara's unnerved, and the Witchblade's stirring."
Alice The needles might look like injection ones at first, but then again, they were not from steel or indeed any metal. Instead, they were of a shiny black that must be of an organic compound. The coor matched Jet, but the gloss was different. More like how the shell of a Xenomorph in alien looked. Smooth pastic. And yet, the stuff seemed to have formed needles or spikes, rammed into the victim, draining it from blood as far as the color of its skin goes. And then there was the creepy part: those needles seemed to have been part of one and the same thing before, as a thin red vein along each of them told. And somewhere in the dumpster surely was more of the same plastic: some statue of a hand, the nails forming to those needle tips which had broken off.
Sara Pezzini Sara's noting the odd needles, not any she's seen before. Her first thought was somebody pumped her full of who knows what. Maybe the vein's a designer...no, no it looks too damn real. Pezz steps back, letting the techs do their thing. And she's got no thoughts at all. Unless....this isn't metal, or a simple homicide. Which, naturally, it's not. Sara's stepped into chasing down a demonic killer. She's just not aware of it...yet. Pezz shakes her head at the dumpster and poor, poor body. The coroner was on their way, and Pezz shrugs. "I don't get this" Sara offers, "I don't get it. Who would even do something...." she mutters. More coffee's needed.
Alice It takes the techs some time as they scrounge through the litter to try to get the corpse onto a stretcher and get her to the office. As they work, one slips as some can crumbles under his weight, ending deeper in the pile, kicking up the rest of the clawlike hand. "Pezzini!" he yells over, lifting the thing he almost crashed upon up. "Wanna have this bagged?" There are the red veins again, gathering in the palm to form some kind of circle. A socket of sorts maybe.
Sara Pezzini Pez shakes her head, "Get it bagged" she calls over, the media trying to get pictures. Sara's unhappy with the media gawking at a crime scene. Less so at the reporter doing his job. They picked Pez to interview. "I can't say anything right now as it's an ongoing investigation" Sara says deflectin questions. Hollenbach has been about as useful as a chocolate fireguard to the media, refusing to answer anything. Good job. He's totally getting lunch bought for him. Sara hurries over to the hand and nods. "Yeah, that's evidence" she says studying it. There's that tickle at the back of her mind again.....the veins look like tendrils. "There's that artist that uses needles and red drawings, right? Worth a shot calling her in for questioning?" one of the uniforms asks.
Alice "Isn't that a figure? But what do I know." Some other CSI notes, reaching for their phone to search their instagram messages. "You don't mean ArtistRed, do yea? Because they have not a single drawing on their instagram. Only figures mounted in the subway or on railings. But they have such a red line."
Sara Pezzini Pez sighs. "Here, how many other artists got red lines? Look, I'll go talk o the red artist and see what's going on, okay? No need to bring them in if they just happenn to use red. That's like somebody getting killed with a baseball bat, you bust every player in the three state area" Pez ssays. (In other words. Coincidence. Pez asks the CSI to get a hold of Red_Artist and arrange a meeting with her. Nope, Red's not in trouble, this is just trying to figure out if Red was involved. When all the common sense in the city is screaming NO!
Alice The CSI shrugs and takes some note. "Let's see what I can do laters..."

Next day at the precinct, some CSI left a note on Pezzini'S desk that they could only find a Red_Artist in Russia painting murals of the General Secretaries of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. There would be some @ArtistRed on Twitter and Instragram in the NYC area though, without a contact info given. Below, preliminary research showed that the claw was made by some sort of plastic.
Sara Pezzini Pez takes the note, sighs and shrugs. Plastic. Great. THis just gets wierder and weirder. Plastic. Who uses plastic for claws? Pez shakes her head, that's just....one...of the cases on her desk. Nigh on 28 hours after the body's found, Pezz is hard at work on the streets, trying her damndest to track down this Artist. Pez is asking other street artists to get a hold of this mysterious artist, that the police want to find her and chat with her. Pez has a nice trick up her sleeves, too. Well. Besides the whole murderous symbiote thing. Pez is going to put up $5000 of her own money to get this Artist Red to do art for the NYPD. And, more to the point, Pez's apartment!
Alice Work in street art scene is, that, whoever ArtistRed is, they have a knack for plastics. But met? the few who claim to have tell widely different looks. Because they havn't met the elusice one. It's like the stuff crops up overnight and at corners. Some say they would pass the message along, just using Twitter to rat out about Pezzini and the NYPD searcing them. Which simply goes unresponded for hours.

It's the other try, the $5000 to do art which gets a response via twitter. It's a picture of the latest escapade, a pink hand mounted to a police cruiser's left back wheel showing the finger. "You can't buy my art. If you can pick it off the street, be my guest."
Sara Pezzini Pez fires back a picture of a road crew with jackhammers. Oh this artist wants to play? Pezz will play. Pezz hasn't got time for pointless Twitter arguments. Instead...she's done after sending back the picture of the road crew and jackhammers, as if saying 'you want us to take the art. We will'. Pez is pleased with this, as she's still on the hunt for the Artist_Red. Anyone who is /that/ brazen has balls.
Alice Red seems to have those balls: they just about send back a shrug emoji and a little "Have fun with that." If Pezzini wanted to gather their Art, so should they. There were enough figurines all over the town to spend a considerable time to gather them.
Sara Pezzini Pez shakes her head and focuses on driving. She'd been told what to tweet, thanks higher ups in the department...thanks for that one. If it was solely up to Pezz, she'd have found ArtistRed, and sst down with her to explain things. Instead, Pez is back to square one of finding this Red. Mostly since Pez has her own ideas on how to get through to this artist. But now, now...she's back to asking the street artists and reachung out to questionable means to find Red. Oh, Pez is determined. And she can't let the plastic claw go, eigher. What was all that about. Pez is asking the street artists if they know anything about the claw, showing then a picture that got given to the media.
Alice Some artists say they have no clue, others say it might be red, based on the material. Yet others claim the claw is not their style, too jagged, too veiny and the last ones just wanted to know what all the fuzz was about.
Sara Pezzini Pez is parroring the PR line, found in a dumpsster with a bodyy and want to figure out who made it to see what's going on with them. She's making it a oint to drive it home she's not out to arrest anyone. She's merely wanting to talk to the artists to reassure them nobody's on the hook for this dead woman
Alice Most quiet down at the claim of where it was found, saying they dont want to have anything to do with that. Some acknowledging they never saw Red, only their works. Once again some say they'd pass the word along. But it takes hours for anything to happen, hours of people talking. Finally a new tweet from ArtistRed, though unlike their usual style. An arrow mounted at a metro station sigh. Though only when one would be at that spot one would see it aims at some coffee shop.
Sara Pezzini Pez has indeed been talking, and genuinely admiring art. Not all of it is in a museum. She's pulled rank and got the patrol cops to lay off the artists since there's more important crimes to deal with. And it helps the city look better. Pezz has found the arrow, and the metro sign, and, more to the point, the coffee shop. Putting on her best smile, Pezz steps in carefully and orders a coffee.
Alice There are some people in the shop, most drinking something or hving a snack, some using their W-Lan and working on stuff. Mabye Pezzini might remember a case from some months ago, when she was looking where a dress came from. Then she might remember Alice, who was drinking a tea, sitting at a table.
Sara Pezzini Pez does remember. She remembbers the party. Pezz went there. and enjoyed it. And oh yeah, that dress. Pez waits for her coffee, too and looks around the shop tooo. Thoughts drift back to asking who owned a dress that'd been found. Now it's a claw and meeting up with an artist. Great, some days Pezz is pretty sure she picked the wrong profession
Alice Alice's eyes scan the room, running over Pezzini, groaning a moment. That one? The one that came in and demanded stuff and had to make her write the papers for a lost dress? Couldn't it have been someone that didn't knew her? She waits till the cop got the coffee, then lifted a hand to give a tiny wave at her. Just enough to be somewhat noticeable. A come here gesture.
Sara Pezzini Pez doesn't need to be told twice and brings her coffee and box of cookies over. Cause she bought cookies...too. That's totally going to be expenses. Sitting, Pezz nods. "Hey" she says with a hand adding creamer and sugar to coffee. That's all she says for the moment.
Alice "Red ain't coming, but I know what they made and not. So what you believe they did?" Alice asks bluntly, lifting an eyebrow at Sara.
Sara Pezzini Sara raises her palms, sipping coffee. "I don't believe Red made anything that got found in a dumpster. So, Red ddin't make it. So who did?" Sara asks. "Look, tell Red they're not in trouble. And...thanks for the costume, and for your help solving the dress mystery" Sara adds with a nod.
Alice "No problem about the costume and dress, that was my job. But what you want from Red? I mean, I know them. They don't mount stuff in dumpsters. At a dumster handle maybe, but never inside. Art is to be seen after all. Send a message, liven up the town..."
Sara Pezzini Pezz nods. "Art's for viewing. I like Red's art, just between you and me" she admits in a stage whisper.
Alice Alice shrugs. "I can only pass word along, so what is that thing that makes you want to talk to Red?"
Sara Pezzini Pezz shrugs as well, "There waws a claw" Pezz points out setting the photo on the table. "Can you ask Red if they know anything about it? I thought no, but it'd be nice to get word. Just some of the department saw the red on her art and jumped to thinking she had something" Pez says tapping the photo, "With it. I'm not easily swayed"
Alice "Claw? What kinda claw. Red left some dragon claws on a park bench once. Chicken feet on a littercan another time. Lion paws at a subway bench. You happen to have a photo?" Alice asks before looking at the photo, tilting it to the light. "It's missing something in the palm. Broken fingers too. Whatever is missing there, not Red's style. One piece mounted around another object without a seam, not sockets or something."
Sara Pezzini Pezz nods. "Alright that's what I was hoping to hear, Red's not involved. Thanks, you've helped a lot" pezz nods. She looks pleased at Alice. She's just made Pezz's job easier
Alice "What's missing there, if I may ask?" Alice notes as Pezzini seems pleased. She wouldn'T stop her from leaving, but she's a little curious. "I mean, someone broke of the fingers of that hand..."
