Sara Pezzini Sara Pezzini's here. It's after work. So she's dressed down for the occasion, button down replaced by t-shirt and jeans, andd boots and jacket. She's still got her badge and phone and the Witchblade. She's here for coffee. And to meet somebody, too. The rumor mill's gone nuts at the NYPD since Sara admitted she was going for coffee...which has by the way, given Sara plenty of people not to send a Christmas card to this year. Oh she's mad at half the cops, the other half quietly wondering who it is...and the few that are all congratulating Sara.

So, she's here and ready and relaxing, settled into a seat at a table by the door. Smart idea, Pez. Smart idea....phone on the table, conteplating what coffee to get.
Ryu Maybe Ryu didn't exactly realize that when he asked Sara out for coffee what the ramifications would be for her. Not that he would have backed down from the invitation. Arriving in the shop, Pez hopefully wasn't expecting him to have changed too much. He's in a well worn shirt, jeans and a pair of shoes, but she can tell from the wear on them that he doesn't shop for clothes often and then wears them to threadbear. When he notices her at the table, he makes his way over to her.

"Officer Pezzini, good day." A fist is pressed into his palm and he bows his head. His hands are larged, as well muscled as the rest of him, and shows the scars of years of training and combat. Then he moves to take a seat.
Sara Pezzini Sara smiles, watching. "Hey, you showed up" she jokes and glances around hopingthere's no officers here. Thankfully not. She does though smile. "How've you been since we last met?" she wonders, looking over Ryu then to the menus for a moment. Coffee. Lots, and lots of it sounds good right about now. "Take a seat, though" she adds with a grin.
Ryu Settling into the seat, Ryu relaxes his posture, though he gives the food a side eye. A rumble escapes from him, but he covers his stomach with his hand with a polite, "Excuse me." Lifting his gaze back to her, he smiles. "I have not been further harassed by any of the gangs in the park. I assume I can thank you and your compatriots for such?" he asks her curiously, as he glances at the menu. And frowns.
Sara Pezzini Sara laughs, "Oh, you can. We do our jobs, and sweep the park. I think you jumping in got word to the gangs to stay away from the glowy blue guyy" she nods with a laugh as she picks out coffee and food. "So what're you wanting off the menu?" Pez asks, this is going well so far, really. She's not thrown a sword at anyone. Yet.
Ryu Glowy blue guy? "Heh. That was just a little bit of chi." Not a superpower? He's normal. Ryu glances again at the menu. "I will have a black tea." he finally decides as he sets the menu aside, and this his attention returns to the attractive woman. "And you? You are still having the conflict in your eyes? It is not one of trust. It seems to be deeper." He gently pries.
Sara Pezzini Sara nods, "Black tea, good" she says with a nod. "Not having any food? I'll go for a large coffee" she decides. Great. Give the Witchblade coffee. Sure, why not, Pez? Ryu's onto something though, the conflict in her eyes is betraying the truth, she's in a fight for control with theWitchblade. But...she's not sure opening up is smart, though.
Ryu "While I am hungry, I am incapable of purchase." Ryu shrugs his shoulders. "I will make due." He's not going to impose on her, as he considers her for a moment. "When I was young, my master knew that the manipulation of my ki that it would possibly cause conflict within me. I have spent my life making sure to balance myself and communing with my chi so that I am as complete and in tune as I can be." he admits finally.
Sara Pezzini Sara nods, "No no, I'll buy you food" she says and reaches for her money. It wouldn't be right of her for Ryu to go hungry after all. He did invite her for coffee. And he's sat across from her...

Looking over Sara smiles, studying the menu more for a momet then eyes go back to Ryu. There's a smile on her lips.
Ryu "If it is not something you wish to discuss, I will not press you." Ryu comments. "But if you wish to discuss it, you know where to find me." In the park, of course. Her smiles spawns one from him, as he considers her generous offer. "I have a very healthy appetite, after all." he says with a teasing smile as he considers her and his smile turns more genuine.
Sara Pezzini Sara shakes her head and grins, "It's no trouble, honestly. No trouble at all. Far from it. I'll get you something if you want"

Sure, on a detective's salary, Sara can't buy, say, a whole bakery, but...but...she can certainly try. Which is a good thing really, super rich detectives wear capes and Sara can't pull that off easily, literally or figuratively.
"Oh no no I'll tell you in good time" she offers.
Ryu "I will have whatever you are having then, Sara." Ryu offers as he glances towards her thoughtfully. "If you are worried about my homelessness, I think it is that I am more a citizen of the world. I have slept in far worse places than the park." He shrugs his shoulders and folds his hands over each other on the table. "I know one other police officer. She is with Interpol, though."
Sara Pezzini Sara nods and looks over, then nods. "Okay, sandwiches it is?" she asks with a look that's somewhere between amusement and worry. "Okay, so a stack of sandwiches for you? Alright" she says, with eye ssparkling with amusement as she glances around, then back to Ryu as she scribbles down the order.
Ryu Ryu grins brightly. "Sandwiches will be fine!" he agrees with her, as he watches her scribble down the order, and then he takes a sip from his tea. "I feel like you have questions, but you don't know if you should ask them."
Sara Pezzini Sara cants her her head and looks to Ryu, then orders what's scribbled down. Oh this'll be good, sandwiches and coffee and tea and....more sammiches. Because why not?

Returning with enough food for both of them, Sara nods. "Yeah, I'm not sure if I should ask, but you're a martial artist right?" she says
Ryu "I am." Ryu responds, and then chuckles. "I would not have brought up the fact that you have questions if I didn't feel comfortable answering them for you." he points out. "That is how people learn about one another, is it not?" Then he considers. "Unless this is more about my wellbeing, and not an actual interest."
Sara Pezzini Sara nods, "It's about you honestly. I'm intrigued" she nods. "Since you're good at guessing my questions....guess my next one. it's not what're you up to" she jokes and sips her coffee, blowing on it to cool it down as she watches Ryu. "You can tell I'm uneasy huh? It's not you at all, it's things I've done weighing on my mind." she sighs looking uneasily across the table. She's fidgeting with the bracelet she's wearing, too.
Ryu Raising his brow, Ryu considers. "Is it what I'm doing later tonight?" he asks her, though that's a tease. "You want to know what I did out in the park." comes the true ventured guess, as he sips from his tea and watches her tense up. His hand reaches, brushing her fingers for the briefest of moments to try to calm her. "I take it you don't go out for coffee with someone else often?" h
Sara Pezzini "Yes that" she nods, enjoying the touch. Oh. She wants to open up to Ryu, but...the Witchblade isn't sure on him yet. Still, Sara's trying to get a grip on the Witchbladde, focusing on Ryu. "WHat are you doing later tonight?" she asks, curiosity getting the better of her really. Which isn't a shock with her being a detective....
Ryu "I assume that I will probably be resting in the park again." Ryu chuckles softly, and he shrugs his shoulders. How did she expect him to answer that one. As he was talking, the sandwiches arrive. And that's when the true horror begins. He has an appetite. A healthy one, as he starts in one sandwich, finishing it in a hurry and reaching for a second.
Sara Pezzini Sara's not fazed. She'll leave the sandwiches to Ryu and sip her coffee. There's always more sandwiches...

"So you'll go back to the park huh? Well" Sara offers looking over her coffee again, then to Ryu. "Ask away, anything you want to know, ask away" she says.
Ryu "I do not want to ask." Ryu says with a lift of his brows to her. "Sometimes, things must be given willingly. And asking the question may force someone into a position they are not comfortable with." As to what he's referring to? That's left up to Sara to decide as he pops another sandwich into his mouth. "For now, I am enjoying my fortunes and my company."
Sara Pezzini Sara looks to the sandwiches and grabs one for herself. Hey, it's ham and cheese. Sweet. She gives Ryu a cryptic look, then nods. "Alright, fine, I'm troubled by my job and other things" she admits, ya, like she's going to just open up about the Witchblade...

Which is what she does. "I'm just scared I'm going to lose control and hurt people, that's the thing" she finally admits after a long pause.
Ryu "Everyone has troubles about their jobs, Sara." Ryu points out to her, as he grabs another sandwich. Probably good she grabbed one now, considering his appetite. "How would you lose control?" he asks her curiously. "What would bring you to that point that you would cross a line you are not willing to cross? Are you able to balance it now?" His tone is not one of surprise or fear. Instead, if she's listening closely? It's understanding."
Sara Pezzini Sara shrugs. "It dependss. It's like there's a part of me that revels in blood and violence and I can't control it" she admits. Which is a neat way of summing up the Witchblade. Go Sara, she's got a simple way of doing this!
Ryu "Hmm." Ryu muses and sips from his tea. "You say you cannot control it, yet here we are, in this coffee shop, and you are showing complete control." he points out to her, and then reaches to take her hand. Right near the bracelet. His words are soft, but the tone in them is firm. "The first step to excise control is to realize that you can have it all along."
Sara Pezzini Sara doesn't take her hand away, but tendrils creep over the back of her hand. "I've barely got control" she points out carefully and watching Ryu, the tendrils are creeping toward her fingers. Sara's got her guard up however, the hairs on her neck are standing up as she gets up and circles the table, coming to Ryu's side of it. The tendrils have paused creeping as she's closer to Ryu now, and watches him. Tentatively, she leans in to kiss his cheek.

First move, maybe?
Ryu "Barely control is still control. You are not the only one to have to deal with such." That is where he starts with his response, when he watches Sara rise to her feet, he assumes that she's going to leave him. Instead, he offers her a chance to look at her before she leans in and claims his cheek. He's not had a shower in a few days, he smells of the dirt of his travels and the mild musk. His brows raise in slight confusion.

"And what was that for?" he asks. Because in his mind, he's only a homeless guy she just met. Not exactly dating material.
Sara Pezzini Sara just smiles cryptically. "For giving me a chance" she offers. "I don't date much, really"

Oh, she said the d-word. Uh oh....Pez isn't admitting this is a date. But. But....she's not denying it either. Normally she's the one chasing for dates. Or hanging out. This time it came easily, and Ryu invited her. So...she's repaying the favor. Which is fair in her book.
Ryu This was a date? It would make sense. Ryu shakes his head in mild amusement. "You are a beautiful woman. Why would someone not want to know you better?" he asks. "And you're not allowed to say 'control issues'." he quickly adds as he looks up at her. Because when he stands up, he's the same heigh as her. That really doesn't do much for women most of the time. "You seem to have much you still need to work through."
Sara Pezzini Sara nods, watching Ryu then she reaches over to pull him into a hug. Fine. It's a date. Okay then.

"I work Homicide. I see a lot of dead bodies. It scares people off. That and my reputation and no nonsense attitude" Sara offers. "Plus I got a black and white morality, too. Fortunately you're on the right side of it" she adds with a nod.
Ryu Pulled into the hug, Ryu slips his arms around her in return, his hands settling on the small of Sara's back. "Yes. But I do not have a home. At least here. Or a job. Or money." He chuckles a little lightly. But he's not pulling back from her. She feels warm. And nice.
Sara Pezzini Oh she's enjoying it. Not so secretly too, she's got a smile on her lips, and she's watching Ryu and not moving an inch. See, the Witchblade could do things. But right now? Nope. Sara'd hurt herself. And the Witchblade wants to prevent that. Checkmate, of sorts. Well played, Ryu.
Ryu "You asked what I was doing tonight. Do you have any ideas of what you are doing?" Ryu asks of her, studying her eyes. It's a daring question -- suggestion -- to make of her, but he's trying to feel her out, at least.
Sara Pezzini "Heading home, quite probably" she says looking thoughtful, watching Ryu. "I got a condo in Manhattan" she explains, the idea unsaid, the 'come home with me?' question unsaid, but it's in her eyes.
Ryu Her eyes say a lot. And perhaps, catching up on her first move earlier, he steps into her, and Ryu's mouth presses lightly against Sara's, lingering there. Accepting the invitation that she is offering him, per chance?
Sara Pezzini Well, Ryu was homeless, at least he'll stay somewhre tonight. Even if it's not Sara'a's condo, admittedly she'll take the floor or couch. Still though she smiles and returns the kiss, arms around Ryu. So much for coffee...yes, so much for coffeee and sandwiches. She looks pleased and amused by this sudden turn of events.
Ryu Nonsense. The only way Ryu may end up in Sara's bed is if Sara's in it. He'll totally take the floor or the couch. Their kiss lasts several seconds before he pulls back. "Then I will accompany you."
