Remy LeBeau The little fliers had been up for about a week in the Rec Room, teacher's lounge, and on the student bulletin board. An open invitation to anyone who wanted to enjoy a friendly little poker night over at the boat house. Snacks were prepared, cards shuffled by a "Neutral third party", and the clock eases on to the appointed time as Remy makes sure the final preparations are ready.
Shannon      As promised the week before--despite ensuing events that necessitated a visit to the medbay for a few days--Shannon is coming out of the kitchen bearing a tray of snacks. She's got her hair pulled back in a ponytail to keep it out of the food, and she's wearing simple light blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and her old white sneakers. As always, there is the little brown leather bag tied onto her belt, in case of minor injuries. The tray is filled with a mix of stuffed mushrooms, and potato skins olé stuffed with salsa, cheese, and topped with sour cream. "Ooof... hope folks are hungry! Where do you want this tray, Remy?"
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn doesn't really play poker, mostly cuz she tends to be pretty bad at betting and probably tends to lose lots of money thanks to her inability to keep secrets or straight faces. But this might be fun to watch and those snacks look super tasty! "Ooooh did you make em yourself? I'd be happy to help eat them!" she giggles as she peeks over Shannon's shoulder.
Scott Summers Cyclops sits at a chair and mostly keeps his own council, watching the younger members of the team with a mixture of bemusement and quiet authority. His eyes, of course, remain hidden behind ruby quartz lenses, ideal for poker, their shimmering surface reflected the faces of the others as they pass. He has a soda with a straw sticking out of the neck of the bottle and a few pieces of cheese and crackers set aside for himself.

He'll wait patiently for the game to begin and try not to be too much of a party pooper. Provided things didn't get out of hand, of course.
Kaida The sound is barely there but it is like a fast padding of feet. Tiny feet to be exact. A moment later, Kaida is leaping up, flipping and landing on the table with snacks and immediately snatching up a potato skin and chowing down on a full quarter of it in short order. She then holds the rest above her head and grins, "Am I late?" She then takes another bite and hmmms a little. Where does she put that food? It's kinda unclear but she sure can eat.
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau grins a little bit at the mouse girl, "N on petie, yah right on time." He says as he pops a stuffed mushroom in his mouth and then lays out 1,500 worth of chips for everyone at the table. He casually tosses Scott a deck of cards, "Care ta shuffle up an' deal. Figure dey all gonna trust yah more den me." He says with no rancor whatsoever.
Scott Summers Cyclops raises an eyebrow, "I'm not sure it would make much difference. You're probably capable of cheats that wouldn't require you to hold the deck for much more than a second. There's no mechanical means or guarantee I can use to keep you from doing it. Only honor. Only trust," he says, even as he does, indeed, flicker the cards back and forth hand to hand, shuffling them into one another.

"And that's entirely in your hands, whether you can live with deceiving your friends and allies...or not," he says, sliding the deck across. "Your deal, Monsieur."
Shannon Shannon somehow, through some miracle, manages to find a clear spot to set down the tray. And it takes just about five seconds for Remy, Megan, and Kaida to all make for the mountain of snacks; her eyes are agog as Kaida manages to put away as much of a potato skin as she does, that's almost as big as she is! "Holy Hades there, girl, where do you put it all? You got a black hole hidden somewhere in your stomach?" To Megan, she smiles and nods. "Yeah, I promised Remy last week before I wound up in the medbay that I'd make the snacks tonight. Got lucky enough to be able to keep that promise." While it looks like Scott's got some cheese and crackers, she motions to the tray, sliding into a chair a small ways around the table. "Got plenty of snacks if you like."

Yeah. This game was going to be new territory for her. Baptism by fire. Fun times ahead.
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn bites her lip as she watches Remy shuffle cards. "Soo ummm how exactly do you play Poker?" she peers around for a spot to sit and squeaks in alarm as Kaida darts up and grabs snackies a moment before she does herself. "Oooohiii Kaida!" she relaxes visibly, "Sorry, thought you were uh, something else..Erm! I mean someone, Err yeah you know what I mean..."
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau grins a little bit and does a sort of slight of hand trick, tossing a card and sending it spinning to in Megan's direction to land with "Rules for Texas Hold'em on one side and "Winning Poker Hands on the other." He grins a little bit. "Yah catch on quick enough chere, Ah promise." To Scott he nods his agreement and smirks, "Oh Ah'd nevah cheat a friend mon ami... At least not when de stakes ate literally non existent non?" he says amused, Then he quickly deals out two cards to each player and burns one. "So how everyones week, hmm?"
Kaida Hopping over to her spot, Kaida bites more into her snack and then sets down her food. She then looks over at Megan with a smile, "It's pretty easy." She nods her head and then looks to Shannon and blinks. She then blinks at Cyclops before squinting at Remy. She hmms and then tilts her head, "I'm not sure about all this back and forth but ok." She looks to Cyclops and then to Remy before back again. She then looks down at the cards and peeks under them carefully.
Shannon      "Don't suppose you have another one of those cards you just flicked over at Megan, do you?" The winged teen just gives a sheepish grin, looking completely, totally lost as she looks down at her cards. Blackjack, this was not.

Oh, now there was a loaded question. She scratches her head a little bit, ruffling her wings as she considers how much to answer--especially with Scott sitting just a couple chairs down. "Eh. Slow week, got stuck in the medbay again. What about everyone else?"
Scott Summers Cyclops mmmmmmmmmms at Remy's reassurance, showing a certain amount of skepticism, but it's amused skepticism more than anything too serious. If he didn't trust Remy properly, the man wouldn't be anywhere near the Mansion in the first place.

"Routine week, as usual. Working on some new Danger Room scenarios," he says. "Making sure all the paperwork's filed to keep our licensing up to date. Almost got drenched in mud at Rogue's birthday party."
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn blinks, catching the hand dealt with her, peering at the rules. "Umm...I hope I can do this..What do we get if we win?" Yeah, Meg's poker face is already unconvincing as she peeks at her cards.
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau gestures with his head over towards a cabnet not to far away. "Bottom drawer is full of decks, Shoul' eit'er be de first or last in any of dem." He informs Shannon smiling. The Cajun raises an eyebrow at Cyclops and tilts his head "We /licence de Danger Room?" he asks amused, though he just makes a non-commital "Hmm", at the mention of Rogue's party. Since the pair agreed to stop seeing each other they've kept a polite but noticable distance.
Kaida A smile is given to Shannon and then at Megan before she looks down at her cards and then she blinks and grins, "Hey! When do I get to go into the Danger Room? I wanna fight the biggest, meanest thing you got!" She nods her head and leans forward a little with a smile, "I gotta perfect my techniques for giving bad guys a good solid punch and a kick and a slash!" She nods with a grin before she looks to Remy and pats the table a little, "We starting the betting?" She looks to Shannon and then at Remy, "Shannon is on your left. Should be her go, right? And did we even ante? Come on!"
Shannon      Shannon steps away for a moment, making a beeline for the cabinet and retrieving another deck of cards. The only one that makes it back with her is the one with rules of the game. She furrows her brows a little bit, glancing over the information quickly as she returns to the table, nibbling on a stuffed mushroom. "Welp... baptism by fire, n'est-ce pas, monsieur?"

She smiles a bit over to Kaida, and nods a bit. "Trust me, no sense looking for trouble, it finds us well enough on its own. But... yeah, training. Good idea."

Oh crap. Now she was put on the spot, absolutely and completely lost as to what to do. "Scheisse."
Scott Summers Cyclops shakes his head, "Not the Danger Room, although there is some proprietary technology in there on loan from certain geniuses with whom the Professor is acquainted. The licensing is for educational purposes. Unless you want the students to have worthless diplomas, we need to be accredited, just like any school. That means red tape. Luckily, I excel at red tape," he says.

He considers his two cards, flicking his attention over, "Our meanest and our biggest are very different things. Colossus is our biggest, but far from mean. The Wolverines are among our smallest, yet you'll find none more dangerous."
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn giggles at Kaida, "Can't Wait to see you in the danger room..The way you tackled those goblins? That was sooo badass!" she'll never underestimate Kaida again! But back to the game, she bites her lip, "Um so we basically wanna get the best hand possible by passing on cards and calling someone's bluff or choosing to fake it.." or something.
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau grins a little bit and says "Actually Kaida, yah on de small blind, dat's 25 chips. Scott's on de big foh fifty. Dare no ante in Hold 'em." He offers Scott a grin and adds, "But de question is how c'n yah really be sure if de tape is red on not hmm?" he asks gently teasing. He makes a face at his cards and tosses them away, going to a small fridge and coming back with three sodas and two beers. No prizes for guessing who gets which.
Kaida LOoking over at Cyclops first, Kaida grins, "I'll take 'em all on!" She states and nods her head before she makes sure her blind is paid and she waves a hand at Remy, "Blind, ante, whatever? We need to play!" She nods her head and grins as she looks over to Shannon to choose to hold, bet or fold next. She grins a little at Megan and giggles, "Yeah, those goblins had it coming though! They better be glad I chose to be gentle with 'em." She nods her head, "Well, that and I really didn't have the space to get up to full speed." She grins and then takes another big bite out of her potatoe skin and then another. SHe's made it through over half that thing at this point.
Shannon      Shannon hmmms lightly as she peeks down at her cards. "So, that puts Megan or me next in line for betting?" Hopefully one of the sodas in question is a root beer--and if it is, well, there's a pretty fair guess as to who it's going to! "Who, by the way, has got the world's lousiest poker face -ever-."

Kaida's bravado is met with a shake of her head. "Logan might have a heart of gold under all that, but lemme tell you, he doesn't go gentle on you even in sparring. So be careful what you wish for."

Aaaaaand... it seems she's next to bet. Shrugging, she tosses in 50, not quite sure what else to do.
Scott Summers Cyclops tosses in his fifty, "I wanna see the river, at least," he says casually. He levels his gaze at Remy, "You should have figured out by now that I almost always know more than I let on. I know the red from the blue, I promise. I know you don't understand how, but that's okay. I like to keep you guessing."

"None of you should ever go gentle on one another in sparring. Nothing wrong with a few bruises and I'd rather you be overprepared than underprepared. Sabretooth isn't going to sheathe his claws for you, I guarantee."
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn bites her lip, trying to follow, tossing in her chips too, staring at her cards, "Welp, here goes.." she cringes at Cyke, "Not a big fan of bruises, eep...But I guess you're right."
Shannon      "Sabretooth..." It takes Shannon a second, the winged girl pursing her lips in thought. "Victor Creed?" What the heck had the girl been getting involved in? She peers at Kaida, shivering a little bit. For once, the girl's diminutive stature had worked in her favor. Her own, however? She fervently hoped the guy had a memory like Swiss cheese.

"Okay, so... everyone got their bets in?" She peers over at Scott, looking utterly confused. "Not to sound like a total newbie, but what's 'the river' in this game?"
Kaida Tossing in Fifty as well, the girl nods her head as she looks to Cyclops and then hmms, "Yeah, but I don't wanna hurt anyone." Kaida shakes her head, "Not too badly anyway." SHe nods again before she looks at her cards again and then sits right in front of htem, casually taking another bite of her potato and hten looking to Shannon and smiles, "It's when hte cards are laaid out that we can all use to make our hand." SHe knows that much.
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau raises his beer in Scott's direction to that last bit in a salute of complete agreement, though he says "Yah mean de Flop fearless. De River is de /last/ card." Having already pitched his own cards in he leans back slightly. "Now Ah know it's a training tool, an' not a toy an' all dat.." He says with a grin, "But be honest, yah ever been tempted ta put some games in dare? Ah mean coul' yah imagine how awesome Clue woul' be in de Danger Room? Or Risk?"
Shannon      There is a look of pure conspiratorial glee as Shannon's eyes light right up. Sure, the Danger Room was well-named. But every once in a rare while... "You know," the winged healer begins. "...one could make a very good case for it on the grounds of sharpening deductive reasoning skills in a much more immersive environment. Maybe throw some little twists into a normal game of Clue, things that wound encourage or even require teamwork to solve the mystery." Ohhhh yeah. The girl was on board with this idea!
Kaida A shrug and a nod, "I could see that being fun. Still would like to fight something in there." She grins and nods her head as she continues to play but she starts to focus in on her cards more, peering under her two cards again before looking at what is happening before her. A unique angle to be sure.
