Shannon      Training in the Danger Room was intense that day. After Kitty had put Megan and Shannon through their paces, Shannon had stayed in the DR a little bit longer going through some of her favorite aerial obstacle course simulations. Such agility training had saved her life on more than one occasion, and one of those very recently at that. Plus, to her, they were plain out fun.

However, there was a concert to prepare for. So for the moment, Shannon's sitting on her bed, with her laptop open in front of her, in her favorite red tartan sweatpants, baggy gray tank top, and sheepdog slippers. There is a light drumbeat, rhythmic guitar, and gentle bass line beneath, as she begins to sing.

"Maybe my story's not like some
Livin' my life under the gun
But it's mine
And that's just fine

I've seen sorrow, I've seen pain
I'm learnin' to dance in the rain
Look at me
Now I'm free..."
Megan Gwynn It's a quiet, peaceful day, and while Shannon's in her room, it may suddenly feel like she's not alone at all..It's a very strange feeling and not at all creepy. It's not as if something sinister is watching her from the shadows; Quite the opposite actually, it's an almost soothing, almost angelic presence.

And as she sings softly to herself, the sunlight shines more brilliantly through the window, showering her in a golden halo of warm sunlight. And oddly enough it seems to envelope her as if some unknown presence were embracing her gently, encouraging her, lending its strength to her to make her voice stronger, bolder. And more than that, it's as if the words to her song come more easily, and an amazing, up.lifting sensation seems to lend an air of inspiration to her music al musings.
Shannon      Indeed, the timing of the golden light was perfect, for just as it enveloped Shannon with the gentle, uplifting warmth, so too did the lyrics of her song pick up, strings and a more intense drumbeat accompanying her words. Her voice, while certainly never weak, seemed to have an extra bit of oomph to it, as the words to the refrain were drawn from her.

"I'm going to touch the sky
Don't know how, don't know why
But now I'm gonna fly
And you can't stop me
No, you can't stop me

I'm going to reach the sun
Hold my hand up, touch the stars
The sky is mine
And I'm just fine
I'm going to touch the sky...."

Where could this be coming from? What was this presence in her room? Or who was it? It wasn't unwelcome, and just for once--just once--she wasn't alone.
Megan Gwynn It's strange, even as she speaks, the sky outside seems to shine a particularly brilliant blue, as that ray of golden light continues to light up her room more brilliantly by the second. As her song crescendos, the inspiration seems to steadily come to mind, strengthening her words, her voice her passion...

And as if that weren't 'magical' enough, tint golden sparkles, subtle at first then more brilliantly, ride down the golden ray of light, then seem to break off into tiny orbs, floating around the room. It's so subtle at first it may warily be mistaken for a trick if light. But for those looking hard enough, there is definitely magic at work - real magic, good magic. Magic that wants to help this angelic girl to really *SHINE*.
Shannon      No, it wasn't her place to shine, she thought. She was the one in the background, the one who was there to support others. Why, then, was this magic coming to Shannon? She was no magical being, but even she could see there was something very different, if decidedly benign, about this light. How had she earned the privelege of its assistance? She smiles a little bit, and now, with her eyes darting about the room, following as many of those little golden orbs at once as she could, continued with the second verse of her song.

"I've taken chances some won't take
Bending 'till my back would break
Crying, please
Oh, god, help me please

Prayers whispered in the night
Answered, now my heart takes flight
Never alone again
No, never alone again..."
Megan Gwynn "Shine..,Shine little bird.." the voice is soft, barely a whisper as sparkles continue to shower her room, converging to a point near her shoulder, swirling around. "Don't be afraid.." the voice is gentle, sweet as honey, soft as velvet, "Reach for the sky, let them hear your voice, shine beautiful nightingale...!" the voice giggles softly, such a gentle whisper in her ear, so reassuring, lending more muse, more i spiration to her music, encouraging her to reach her full potential, to no longer shy or hold back. "This is your true calling, your destiny!"
Shannon      The accompaniment to her song continues on, without the melody provided by her voice, as Shannon just turns her head to look at her shoulder. "My destiny changed when I became a mutant," she whispered softly. "I was given a gift of healing, and that is what makes me the Nightingale." Still, there was something very gentle, reassuring, very warm and caring about this little golden being on her shoulder. She didn't dare protest too much, for fear of scaring the little being away. "Who are you?"
Megan Gwynn Glitters continue to merge and coalesce into a soft golden light on her shoulder. And when it clears, a tiny fairy with light brown skin, soft golden hair and a cherubic soft smile flutters near her shoulder on silver white wings. She is dressed in a shimmery golden buttercup dress that falls to her knees, showing her bare feet, and violet sparkles glitter around her.

When she speaks, it sounds like she is singing softly and she smiles sweetly, gently at Shannon as she rests lightly on her shoulder. "You have many destinies, and that us just one of them. You could be an even greater musician if you did not fear the spotlight...Let me help you shine, your voice is so beautiful, so soothing..." she giggles softly. "My name is Lyra, fairy of music."
Shannon      For a moment, Shannon can't help but smile. Such a sweet fairy, so kind and caring, as she wished she could be herself. "I'm Shannon," she murmurs softly, reaching up with one hand to offer the tip of her finger for a handshake. "I'm glad you're here but..." Here, her voice does have to grow more sober, her brows furrowing ever so slightly. "...you could be in danger here. Are you sure you want that risk?" She couldn't willfully put the sweet Lyra in danger, or even by neglecting to tell her that she could be at risk here.
Megan Gwynn Lyra shivers a bit, and for a moment the golden light and violet glitters seem to dim, "That is true but..I feel safest when I am in my element. Your music and passion make me stronger. I am safer here with you than out there...Oooh! I have an idea!" she flutters around excitedly, "Do you mind if I hide in your mind for a bit? Just when I'm resting? It'll be harder for them to find me there, it won't hurt, I promise! And it will definitely help with your inspiration.."
Shannon      At this, Shannon does frown slightly. "Is there no other way? If it comes down to it and I have to tell someone about your presence, then telling them I have a fairy hiding in my mind is not going to be taken very seriously." Her voice does not ring with outright refusal; no, it only thrums with notes of concern. "Others of your kind have been kidnapped recently, either here in this place, or very close to here. And one of those was taken right from my own hands."
Megan Gwynn Lyra squeaks and flits nervously about the room, "But but...It's very scary..You're right, there is a war between faeries and goblins..I don't know much more than that but I can figure out more if I hide...It's too dangerous for me to come out right now..." she shivers, her voice soft and high pitches, "People are scary, especially when they dint believe in pixies...You are special but...Please, just for a little bit? I think..Perhaps at least until I can find the queen, lady Morgana, perhaps she can help? Until then, until I can get someplace safe.." she whimpers, "Please, keep my presence a secret? It's the only way I can hide from them for sure, I ororo use I won't be a bother...?"
Shannon      "Oh no... if you were a bit bigger, or I were a bit smaller, I'd give you a hug right now." Shannon's voice is just as soft, a tear falling down her face for the distress that she'd caused the wee fairy. "Shhhh... it'll be alright. Heck, part of me hopes you get to stay just because you want to and not because you have to hide." She makes soothing hushing noises, wordless humming of unfamiliar tunes, "I won't volunteer the information that you are with me, but if someone asks, I cannot lie either."
Megan Gwynn Lyra smiles faintly, fluttering around the room more quickly, showering Shannon with more gold and violet like that feels as soft and soothing as a gentle warm ray of sunshine, "Oh thank you, you really are a sweet and gentle girl!" she giggles, and just as quickly her smile fades, glancing around nervously. A strange coldness seems to over shadow the light and she gasps fearfully, glancing around, "They're searching....I must go!" and just like that, she vanishes in a pop of light...But Shannon can sense her soothing voice and warm presence in her mind...And it's not crowding at all, more reassuring, gentle and warm, like waking up after a long relaxing night's sleep, or bathing in the summer sun..The amazing inspiration and muse is there too, now available to call upon whenever Shannon needs it.
Shannon      Smiling softly, Shannon tries to think thoughts of reassurance, of safety. Those goblins will not get to you in here, she thought. They will not disturb you here. You'll be okay. She allows herself to bask for a moment in that gentle warmth, that feeling of being wrapped up in a warm blanket in the afternoon sun, or of just indulging in the world's most luxurious bubble bath. "I hope you can stay, Lyra, even after the war is over."
