Shannon      When people you care about are hurting, what is one to do? It seemed to be the dilemma Shannon was facing on two fronts. But it would do nobody any good to see one of their healers losing it, so she smiled and just kept it to business as usual. For her, this meant cooking, studying, danger room practice sessions, and music. She's taken sone of the efforts of her late-night baking up to her dorm room, and is having a little bit of coffee and scones, while trying to concentrate on writing music on her laptop. She's in her baggy gray tank top, red tartan sweatpants, and floofy sheepdog slippers. A small plate of scones rests on the bed next to her, and she has a spill-proof travel cup in her hand, the light from her laptop screen flickering on her face.
Josiah     Josiah knocks on shannon's door and enters her room once she lets him. He then smiles at her, dressed in a button up shirt, suit vest and suit pants and dress shoes. He looks to her and moves to massage her wings. "You look troubled. Want to talk about it?" He asks quietly, since he isnt supposed to be in her room after dark.
Shannon      True enough, being in her room after dark was a little bit of a no-no, so Shannon at least moves things over to the more proper place of the sitting area by the fireplace. She offers some of the scones to Josiah, and smiles a little bit; they smell of cranberries and orange. The touch to her wings does relax her, making it a bit easier to talk. "It's... hard when people you care about are hurt, but they don't want you to help because of how helping them affects you."

A deeper sigh escapes her, her wings starting to droop. "Sam got his collarbone and arm busted up, and I wouldn't mind taking that on, but he won't let me help because of the way my gift works. I get it. He doesn't want me hurting. But it hurts worse doing nothing at all." Her head dips forward as well. "He's been looking for you, to see if you'd be able to help him."
Josiah     "i will track him down and heal him when I see him. How did he get busted up." He asks as he watches her. He then moves to hug her from behind and hold her closely. "I know it hurts, but it hurts him to see his charges hurt." He explains calmly to her and watches the winged teen. "So are you hurt?" He asks curiously.
Shannon      "He's not so much of a teacher to me, so much as he is family in all but name. If your parents were hurt, and you were not able to help them, think how that would feel." Shannon leans back into that embrace for a moment, closing her eyes, tears starting to trickle down her face. "For once... gods help me, I'm actually starting to hate my gift. What good is being able to heal people going to do, if they won't let me do it? There has GOT to be a way to shift it somehow... there HAS to be..."
Josiah     Josiah sighs. "I been thinking about your gift. I wish I can help you...To be honest though I have a similar weakness myself. If I go for a week or so without using my powers I begin to glow and get a fever. Storing too much energy can hurt me."
Shannon      Shannon sighs and nods. "I've been thinking of perhaps seeing if Miss Grey could help. I'm pretty sure my gift -could- be shifted. Heck, when Josh Foley was here, we managed to shift it from triggering accidentally, to being able to use it as a diagnostic tool without actually healing someone. It's just making that last leap that's giving me trouble."

She twists about a little bit to look back and up at Josiah, her brows furrowing. "And it's been how long since you last healed someone? That's like... you dealing with physically, what I deal with in here..." She taps her heart. "...when I'm not allowed to help someone. It hurts. It burns me up inside. You just deal with it externally."
Josiah     Josiah holds her and smiles. "So I am sorry about not keeping up with my date. I hope you arent too angry." He says as he watches her. He presses his forehead to hers and stares into her eyes. "You sure your a human and not an angel?" He asks softly as he gazes into her eyes.
Shannon      Shaking her head, Shannon smiles slightly. "Not angry at all. I didn't think we'd actually set up a date, just kind of put the idea out there." As to the question of her heritage, she rolls her eyes and laughs a little bit. "If I am, I sure wind up swearing like a sailor more than I should, shame on me!"
Josiah     "It is okay." Josiah says as he watches her. He then smiles as he begins to let her go. "So anything you want to do. We could be cliche teenagers." He says teasingly as he pats her bed. He moves to a chair and goes to sit down.
Shannon      If there's one thing Shannon does -not- do in this case, it's go anywhere near her bed. Not with a boy in her room. She stays put in the seating area by the fireplace, but smiles when Josiah joins her there. "Penny for your thoughts?"
Josiah     "Oh I have lots of thoughts. For starters, I am curious what you think of me. Do you think I am too obsessed with religion?" He asks curiously as he watches her waiting for her response.
Shannon      "Religion is the way you were raised. I'd no more ask you to give that up than I'd ask someone to cut off an arm or a leg." Shannon smiles a little bit, tilting her head. "What do you think of the idea of me having gods as friends, too?" She peers curiously at him, reaching over to hold his hand if he'll let her.
Josiah     "Well better to have them friends then enemies." Josiah says with a grin and holds her hand, kissing her knuckles softly. "So which gods are you friends with? Thor?"
Shannon      "I'd say... decent terms with Thor, but not entirely sure if I've earned the honor of 'friend' yet. As for his brother? I'm just glad to not be on his bad side." Shaking her head, Shannon chuckles lightly. "No, I was actually talking about Poseidon." Her cheeks go rosy pink at the old-fashioned, courtly gesture of a kiss to her hand, her expression softening a bit.
Josiah     "So your friends with the god of the sea. Thats good." Josiah says as he smiles at her." He says as he watches her. "I never had a girlfriend before. I always traveled and never got to do the whole dating thing with my busy schedule."
Shannon      "I've had a pretty lousy track record myself." Shannon smiles a bit. "Sam was actually my first crush. Finally worked up the nerve to tell him, but he saw me like a little sister. Cried my eyes out that day but in the end, he did become like a big brother, so it worked out for the best. Samuel... the one of the two sometimes called Bean... it looked for a while as if something might work out there." She pauses, her smile turning mildly bittersweet. "But as it turned out, he didn't prefer girls. I wound up with a highly protective best friend instead."
Josiah     "We can go out, if you want?" He asks curiously as he holds her hand. "I just dont know how to act in a relationship? We are too young to show affection physically so what do we do?" He asks curiously.
Shannon      "That's fine. Doing stuff together works. Could go out, could just be a picni... oh. OH." Shannon grins from ear to ear, motioning to the window. "What about a picnic by the lake? I could make a couple things, you could make a couple things, and we could make an afternoon of it."
Josiah     Josiah smiles and he nods. "Sounds like a date. I should probably head back to my room." He says as he watches the woman
Shannon      Shannon smiles and leans over for a hug. Her wings wrap around as well as her arms, and she smiles. "Probably a good idea, before one of the teachers starts nosing around. I'll fire off a message to Sam and let him know you're looking for him." She pauses, nibbling her lower lip and smiling. "Who knows," she adds. "Maybe we could even fly over the lake a little bit. Especially if that'd help keep you from getting a fever."
