Kara Danvers The call went out to the number Jean had given to Kara during her last visit. It was not frantic but there was a tinge of urgency to it. A request that they could meet somewhere as soon as possible. All in all, Supergirl was pretty proud of herself for not completely freaking out and just showing up at the school to carry off a telepath back to Metropolis.

They might not have appreciated that.

She made plans to meet at the Hall of Justice, which wasn't that far from the Metropolis Hospital. Now she was there, dressed as her secret identity Kara. Brown hair, glasses, normal clothes. Yet she was in the back areas and security from the Hall had been asked to show in Jean Grey when she arrived.
Jean Grey No, getting carried off would not have been much appreciated, but Jean was there and just a call away like she'd promised. She was on her way as soon as she was free.

Jean arrives at the Hall dressed in neat but loose fit black pants, ankle boots, and an easy lavender colored tunic with a thin black belt. Functional, presentable, and something she can still run in. One never knows with calls like that and Jean hasn't survived this long by not being ready for trouble. She presents herself to security when she arrives and is prepared to provide applicable identification if asked before being shown in.
Kara Danvers The guard takes the time to check her identification against his records for visitors then nods and returns the card to Jean. "Thank you, Ma'am. This way please." He show her to the library door then step away. "Supergirl will be waiting inside." After all, he is not privvy to secret identities and it was Supergirl who had sent the word she was having a visitor. He didn't see her fly in wearing her normal clothing and her wig.

As the door opens, Kara stops pacing and looks that way quickly. Once the door is closed, she's already talking. "Oh thank Rao!" And she is across that space, stopping herself from hugging by force of will alone but it seems to just vibrate that she was wanting to. "Something terrible has happened and I need your help. I couldn't reach ...Martian Manhunter." She almost said his name! "And you were the only other person I could think of to ask. I know there are telepaths at your school and I know you can keep secrets and...well, this is going to be a big one. I need a telepath to help save Superman."
Jean Grey With a quiet thanks to the guard, Jean steps her way in and is immediately aware of the pent up energy in the room. Not by the near flying hug, but by the very intent oozing out of Kara. It's enough to make Jean look momentarily surprised. "Thankfully there's no shortage of us lately, but I'll certainly help you out however I can."

As she hears just who is involved, the woman's face settles into a serious one as she lets out a quiet exhale. "Let me guess, this has to do with that fungal uproar? One of my students was there. I came to get her after, but everyone had cleared out by then so I didn't get an opportunity to touch base with anyone who may have known more about what happened."
Kara Danvers "Yes, I saw Shannon there briefly. She was helping people, I was trying to stop the spores from spreading and them digging up more gooey icky maggot things." Supergirl starts pacing a bit again, using her hands as she talks in an animated manner.

"There were these spore things. And they were making people try to plant them. We faced versions of them a couple of years back. They were being controlled by some mutant called the Shadow King." She stops and motions to the air as though others can see what she's motioning at.

"We managed to win that time and thought it was done. But some of the spores showed up. They were telepathically urging the people who touched them to plant them, so they can grow. When it happened before, we tried all sorts of things and learned they get bigger with heat and energy. Sonics, cold and psionics can stop them. Well, I need one of them stopped. It got on Superman's hand. Only, not Superman. His secret identity. He's in the hospital. He has an IV IN. His. Arm." She says that like it is tantamount to being diagnosed with a fatal illness. "A normal one!" Even worse!

Back to pacing. "The fungus is attached to his hand. It's firmly joined with his system and it is draining him. There were others too, in the hospital, but he was in the worst shape. I was able to chill it to stop it sending the 'plant me' impulses to his brain so I could talk to him. Can you come tell it to go away?"
Jean Grey "I know the name." Jean says with a crawling, sour note in her voice. "I actually grabbed a sample of the spore remnants, we have it locked away. I can just have that destroyed though now that I know others are familiar with it. No point in keeping it with the risk it carries if we don't need to."

The woman listens in closely as Kara fills her in on the status of Superman and gives a quick nod in conclusion, "Of course, I can see what I can do with it. In addition, if you need help with securing his identity or convincing nurses that there's nothing wrong with a -hopefully - quick recovery, I can do that as well. While memory alteration is something I prefer to keep as a last resort, situations like this can warrant some firm measures."

There's a beat before she adds, "I know we haven't known each other long, but I assure you that I will protect your secrets as much as I would any of my own. Hopefully there's a day none of us need to hide, but until then... we're no use to the world if we're dead."
Kara Danvers "I know as mutants, you all are having to deal with a lot more prejudice. I mean we get some, being aliens. But not like you guys have to deal with. I hope some day you all can be more open, no secrets." Supergirl says softly.

"But for me, the secrets are important. My cousin taught me that. That by keeping this me and that me away from each other, it allows me to have a life. To live without always having those expectations that come with the family symbol we wear on our chests."

She stops pacing finally. "I appeciate your willingness to help. Maybe you can figure out what these things want and if there is a way to help them. But I think if you can get it to let him go, they won't be too shocked by his recovery. Well, as long as he doesn't go needle proof immediately..."
Jean Grey "I'll leave the physical recovery up to you, but, maybe... take the needle out first, just in case?" Jean says with a faint grimace scrunching up her features, probably with the uncomfortable image of a needle forever stuck in an arm. "I can help redirect their concerns if we end up with suspicious nurses. It wouldn't be the first time."

She crosses her arms over her chest as she visibly starts mapping out her own plan of attack. "Firstly, is there anything we'll need to have, such as something to contain this with? What about the medical team that's come in contact with him, is there a risk any of them are infected?"
Kara Danvers "I don't know. I don't think they have. I mean if they had, they'd be walking out of the building and digging holes trying to plant the things. They aren't exhibiting that sort of behavior. Just the infected people in the hospital. And I'm not sure if Superman is worse because he is Kryptonian and we are like batteries for the yellow sun here. It is what feeds our powers and these things thrive on heat and energy so..." Supergirl gives a little helpless shrug.

"I can meet you there. That way the guards don't see me leaving like this. Then we maybe you can figure out more with your big brain powers?"
