Owner Pose
Barbara Gordon Despite their very disparate positions within the field of 'heroing', Barbara has made a point of keeping in contact with Skye. Late-night video games are fun! But it's the first time they've met in person since Barbara's assistance with Skye's 'escape' from SHIELD. The redhead is settled in the coffee shop awaiting the other woman with a cup of coffee and a chocolate croissant already in front of her. The table along the wall gives them both the ability to keep their eyes on the rest of the store without looking obvious about it -- though whether that was purposeful or just coincidence might be hard to say.
Skye Johnson Skye waltzes in right on time (give or take), and sits right down. "Before you says, yes, Clint dumped me. And no, I don't know why." She takes a deep breath. "It has sucks, but I'm back in the Greenwich house." With all her doo-dads keeping her safe on the intrawebs. "How about you?"
Barbara Gordon "I'm not sure if I'm flattered or amused that you think I keep a close enough tab on you to actually know enough already to even ask," Barbara retorts, laughing. "I'm, uhm.... working it out with a guy?" That sounds rather questionable, but hey! Whatcha gonna do? Men!
Skye Johnson "It's better? I don't know." Skye shrugs. "I got the cats." To which she cracks a smile. "woah, you? Want me to check him out?" As if. Babs is quite capable herself.
Barbara Gordon "I'm not any different than anyone else, you know," Barbara sips her coffee and adds, "Just as prone to screwing up relationships as anybody. Maybe more, given the kinds of work you and I do. Cops and assorted other crisis management jobs are tough on relationships. But no... I don't think he needs much checking out. If he had skeletons.... I'm sure the paparazzi would have emblazoned them across the tabloids already." And in point of fact, they have. The redhead shrugs lightly. "Nah, it's.... just the same stuff any of us do. The abrupt having to leave for 'work' and things." Not quite the same but... similar enough that this explanation fits for her.
Skye Johnson "No kidding. Something about 'oops, I have to kill the guy next door' doesn't go over well." She's kidding.. maybe.. "Is he cute? Does he have a friend?' Skye holds up she hands, signalling she's kidding.
Barbara Gordon "Yeeeaaaaaaaah. You'd be better served if I introduced you some of the friends I have in my *night* job, I think," Barbara snickers. "You definitely don't want the attention that would come with hanging out with Dick's friends." Her face has a soft expression when she admits, "He's adorable. And amazing. And... it's always way more complicated than it looks, right? We've been... kinda dancing around each other a long time."
Skye Johnson "Jeeze. ouch. But your probably right. Actually, would you? They're actually thinking about taking my laptop away and booting me out the door. Something something about seeing the sunshine and feeling the fresg air. Whatever." Skye shrugs.
Barbara Gordon "You turning into a cave dweller?" Barbara grins a little. "Well, I can certainly put a bug in a couple of people's ears that you're a good person and lonely, my dear. I mean, it might not get anything, but hey... what're friends for? At least those guys would know the score on running off to save the world, right?"
Skye Johnson Skye Johnson says, "Friends could be nice. After all, I've got a little something different under the hood. Speaking of which, I have pretty much figured out my powers.. actually, what are we doing with the Birds. Have we arranged for a headquarters yet?'"
Barbara Gordon "No.... I had to backpedal on that front a little bit." Barbara pauses and admits, "I was planning to transition to the Oracle role a while ago, but things happened and I needed to keep using my other identity for a time." She's not unwilling to trust Skye, it's just that this kind of info is need-to-know. "Now that things have settled again, I'm getting myself settled and looking into ramping it back up."
Skye Johnson Skye nods, "Fair enough. Welcome back, by the way." She reaches for her coffee.
Barbara Gordon The redhead's smile is bright. "Thanks. I have to admit, I thought it would be harder to come off the streets. And it is. To a point. But... I like the certainty that by doing what I'm doing, all the friends I have out there doing that job will have solid intel. You know?"
Skye Johnson "Meanwhile, I'm leaving the laptop, and heading out into the streets. Tag team wrestlers." Skye laughs.
Barbara Gordon Barbara shrugs slightly. "Hey, sometimes it's the name of the game." She tips her head. "Are you going to continue working with SHIELD? They've been keeping something of a low profile lately."
Skye Johnson "Sorta?" Skye shrugs. "My mother is out there. I've been given a chance to find her. Providing I come back when I am needed."
Barbara Gordon Barbara nods and asks, "Do you want help with it? You mentioned that it was a complicated situation."
Skye Johnson "Actually, yes. I got a location, but.." Skye starts the story. "Probably needs help. Would you? Even if it is peripheral."
Barbara Gordon "I'd be happy to," Barbara assures her. "Send me what you have, and I'll also start backtracking it, okay?" She smiles. "You'd be surprised what another set of eyes can do." Not to mention the fact that she has all kinds of databases at her disposal that most people can't dream of.
Skye Johnson Skye looks smug. "I thought you would say that. Thanks. Anything else? I gotta go back to work."
Barbara Gordon "Nope, I won't keep you. I just wanted to touch base and make sure you were all right." Barbara pauses. "If you need a girls' night, you give a yell, okay? We'll commisserate about stubborn men or something."
Skye Johnson Skye grins, and get up from the table, "Sure. pick a date. Surprise me." And she is gone.
