Drake Winters "Ready... Set.... Go!"

There is a blue burst of light as Drake pushes off one foot, blinking across the park a few times at a rapid pace. Once he stops, he glances down at his wrist to check his time, then lets out a frustrated noise in his throat. "I'm telling you, Rave. I'm just not getting faster. I think this is as fast as I can propel myself normally. Maybe I can chop my legs off and get rocket legs or something. But I think this is the hard limit of my powers."

Flopping down on to a bench, he peels his sweat soaked shirt off and tucks it into the waistband of his workout shorts.
Rave Rave herself hadn't been running, she'd been watching, sitting central and moving nearby as he made his circuit. Wrapped in the usual shorts, hoodie over her shirt and those newer more resiliant running shoes, she'd been left to observe the lap time. "I mean, if the alternative is you exploding then..." she trails off, giving a little silent shudder before tilting her head.

"Maybe you can find something among the ship's whole...sci-fi style equipment. Something to keep you stable or boost you faster? I know that...yellow flash, the one that kidnapped me last year? He had some sort of way of enhancing himself...but he was crazy too."
Drake Winters "I don't know. We don't even know if my powers are speed based. I just kinda shunt forward a few feet at a time. I just figured I'd be able to go faster at some point, or push myself into longer distances. But maybe this is my ceiling." Drake says glumly as he pushes his hair back and ties it behind him with a band.

"And it's fine. I guess. I'm just never going to be the next Flash, or the next Rave." He says with a furrow of his brow, though he flashes her a grin. "I'm just gonna be ordinary who can be a little speedy. But yeah, it sure beats blowing up and turning into goo."
Rave Talk of the nature of hos powers earns a nod, a little frown of thought. She wasn't exactly uneducated, but Rave was far from an expert. "I mean, there's got to be something to it, right?"

His comment, it earns a laugh, the Bluenette reaching out to poke him in the chest. "I don't think anyone will be the next 'me'. One neon laser-bolt girl is enough awesome for everyone, right?"
Drake Winters "It's definitely enough for me." Drake says as he is poked in the chest, giving her a fond grin on his face. "I know I won't be winning any races against you any time soon. It's fine though. I'll just get a normie job or something I guess." He says jokingly as he leans his hands back to plant them behind him on the bench as he looks up at her.

"At least I get to live on a spaceship for the time being and anti-grav makes me look a lot cooler than I really am."
Rave "Always a faster speedster I suppose," Rave muses, making to sit herself down on the bench beside the man and shrugging her shoulders. "I mean, -I- should be impossible enough, but the Flash? He can go -faster- than light. It's nuts..."

She trails off, his comment bringing a little snort. "I think 'superhero living in a spaceship' counts as cool. Remember I've done most of this whole heroine thing in basically activewear..."
Drake Winters "Yeah, but you make it look really good. The activewear." Drake says with a grin towards her, tilting his head coyly to one side. "Are you faster than the Flash? You two should get into a foot race and see what happens. I think that'd be interesting. Maybe I can get in touch with Impulse and throw him in there too. He used to be a Legion member for awhile. Just not sure where he went to."

He takes his shirt and wipes his chest and shoulders down, wrinkling his nose a bit. "At least I'm not wearing down as much as I used to. I feel like that's a benefit."
Rave "Says the shirtless speedster," she teases, but there's a grin to the compliment none the less. Talk of a footrace though? It gets a pout and a shrug. "Impulse maybe, but Flash? I got to run with him once and...yeah. Still," she pauses, making to stand and gesturing to herself.

"I get to glow and go 'pew pew' so, I feel like I still got a pretty good deal."
Drake Winters Grinning, Drake leans over to his gym bag under the bench. "I guess I can put a fresh shirt on." He says as he works it out the bag, giving it a few snaps to try and get some wrinkles out. "But if you still want to join the Legion, I can get you an audience with Lar. It's just hard to get ahold of him at times. He's always off in another galaxy. But, I don't think anyone would mind if you wanted to stay with us in space for a few weeks and work with the team."
Rave "I mean, it's a big galaxy-universe-thing, right? I can understand if he's out of cell range." A shrug, Rave tilts her head to the side. "I haven't really met many others yet, but noone has busted you for sneaking me in or anything, so it must be alright, right?"
