Shannon      With the unexpected blessing of Josh Foley's return, came a gift that nobody who knew Jeremy well enough ever expected. The scars that had been a road map to his dark past were no more. In their place was left hope, and a willingness to try things that perhaps he might never have considered before. So while the season still allowed for it, Shannon is doing her best to convince Jeremy to at least consider wading about the shallow end of the pool. For her own part, she is in her red and white hibiscus print, bandeau-style bikini, with her hair long and loose save for the little blue braid on the left side of her face, with its three silver beads.

"Come on," she said, in a bid to get him into the water. "You don't know what you've been missing! Next to the air, the water is somewhere I really feel free." Smiling wide, she adds, "Plus it's just plain out fun. We can start in the shallow end, maybe work on some of the basics if you want?"
Jeremy Statton "The water is how you drown a slow, and painful death as you suffocate on water that fills your lungs until you black out." Jeremy says as he toes at the water with his bare foot. He's shirtless! Check that out. He is most likely blinding everyone at the pool with how pale he is, save a few freckles along his body. He still has a couple of faded scars, but the terrible ones that haunted him are no more. He's wearing a pair of black 'Punisher' swimming trunks. He likes the skull.

With a sigh, he steps into the water, slowly, feeling it surround his legs before he takes a seat on the middle step, letting the water pool around his hips. "There .. I'm in. I'm swimming." He says as he uses his hands to fish about the water a bit. Splish. Splash.
Shannon      Shannon beams with pride at Jeremy as he sits down on the middle step, settling into the water nearby. "Hey, you'll get there. You've been how long without swimming? It won't happen in a day, but we can at least get you used to the water." There seemed to be no inclination or hurry to push him farther than his comfort zone right at the moment, simply allowing him whatever time it takes to become accustomed to this new environment.

"Death can happen many ways, that's true. Reality is, sooner or later, we all pay that debt to nature. But we shouldn't let it stop us from enjoying life in the meantime. Or something like swimming. Anything can have its dangers, but at least maybe I can help you start learning about it."
Jeremy Statton "Yeah, but, drowning, being burned alive or falling from a great height is the three I really don't want to die from." Jeremy says as he stammers out in his usual chaotic speech. He left his phone over by his stuff on the table. Slowly he makes his way further down the steps until he is standing in the shallow end. He gives a quick shiver as his body adjusts to the temperature.
Shannon      Nodding slowly, Shannon just listens, following him to stand in the water. Her wings ruffle faintly behind her as she adjusts to the temperature, shivering for her. "Can't blame you there. Maybe this can still be something you come to enjoy, though. It's a gentle way to exercise, especially when you haven't really been into too much physical activity. You'll often see pools used as part of physical therapy to help with healing and recovery."

Peering over at him, she does turn a tiny bit rosy, coughing lightly, but smiling. "Try walking around in the shallow end for a little bit. Get used to the water resistance. When you feel up to it, maybe you could try just floating on your back?" Quickly, to hopefully allay lingering worries Jeremy might have, she adds, "I'll be right here with you, and you don't have to try this time if you don't want."
Jeremy Statton "I used to swim as a kid when I was in elementary school. I just wasn't very good at it. I always felt like an awkward duck." Jeremy says as he steps deeper into the water, then pushes off with his feet with a quick hop. He dog splashes about a bit, but as he straightens his body out there is that moment of panic before his legs tuck back down so they can hit the floor.

As he bobs a bit, he spits out some water with a laugh. "Maybe I'm better suited for a hot tub or a shower." He leans down to duck his head under to get his hair more wet then pushes it back behind him. It's so unruly by now.
Shannon      Shannon gets an impish little grin on her face, her eyes lighting right up as an idea hits her. "When you were in elementary school, did you ever play 'Marco Polo' with your friends?" She wiggles about happily in the water at the prospect of the game. "It was a favorite when I'd go to camp in the summer, and my friends and I would swim in the lake."
Jeremy Statton There is a shake of Jeremy's head. "No, I didn't. I know how to play the game, but I never have." He splashes around a bit as he moves through the water. He pushes off, gives a half second glide, then stumbles back down to his feet. He makes his way over to her, giving her a smile as he gives a small little splash towards her along the surface of the water. It's more of a 'splish'. Just a flick of water in her direction.
Shannon      That little flick of water in Shannon's direction splashes her right between the eyes, making her cross them in rather comical fashion as she shakes her head. A light, silvery giggle bubbles up from within her, the winged teen flicking her fingers across the surface of the water at Jeremy. "We could try if you want, or we could wait till more are out here to play. Up to you."
Jeremy Statton "Let's wait for the team. Get everyone in here. Would be way more fun." Jeremy giggles as he is splashed back, then glances over to his left shoulder. "I'm gonna get a tattoo." He says with a grin. "That is so cool. You want one too? I bet Xio will do one for you also if you want." He rubs at his shoulder some with his fingers, picturing what the circuitry will look like, and the spider.
Shannon      Shannon smiles, and shrugs. "Don't you have to be 18 to get a tattoo? I won't be until next July." Nibbling her lower lip, she thinks for a second. "Is Xio actually going to be doing the work herself? How is that even going to work? I mean, if she did it, would I be able to get away with it...?"
Jeremy Statton "I turned eighteen." Jeremy grins at her as he brushes some more wet hair away from his face. "Xio does street ink. So it won't be legal." He says as his brows widen. "Which makes it more exciting! But she's really good. Should see some of the stuff she did before on her friends. She has pictures of them. What kind would you want? Something with music notes?"
Shannon      "Well... maybe something small, where it'd be kind of easy to hide till I turn eighteen." Shannon thinks for a moment, pursing her lips. What was she thinking, even -considering- a tattoo? Her brows furrow as she considers her options. "Something with roses, butterflies, music notes, anything like that. Can't believe I'm letting myself get talked into this!" She giggles lightly, at once scandalized and yet enticed by the idea.
Jeremy Statton There's a laugh from Jeremy. "You're talking yourself into it." He says as he grins at her. "Could get one on your hip. Right, there." He says as he points down towards her. "Can hide it easy enough. Or maybe on your back. Just don't get a tramp stamp." He winces at some particular memories, most likely from his time in juvie. He rubs at his shoulder a bit. "It's not like anything will happen if we get one. Teachers may be annoyed but it's nothing we'd go to jail for."
Shannon      "Okay, okay, you've convinced me! Now I'll just have to work out a design I like. And nooooo! No tramp stamps for me!" Shannon shakes her head vehemently at that, which causes the sodden ends of her hair to lash about her face, sending sprays of water everywhere like a dog shaking off. "It's good to hear you laughing, to see you happy like this. It really is."
Jeremy Statton "I am too. You have really helped me out and it means a lot." Jeremy says as he blushes a bit, twirling his fingers along the surface of the water. "You're my best friend here." He uses his foot beneath the water to tap against hers a few times, giggling. "Too bad I'm going to graduate before you. But I'll stick around for yours."
Shannon      Shannon tries to smile at this reminder of just how long she has to go before she graduates. It takes some effort, but she nods, wriggling her toes about beneath the water. Thanks. Wish there was some way I could take care of that... and not have to wait so long to graduate. Who knows," she teases. "You might get tired of waiting around for me to grow up." Wrapping arms and wings around Jeremy briefly, she is happy for the moment to just give him a hug. "I'm glad to be your friend."
Jeremy Statton "You're as grown up as any other. We both are. I'm only one year ahead of you." Jeremy says with a giggle as he hugs her back, leaning into her as his cheeks flush. His hands settle against the small of her back, tracing small circles with his fingers for a moment. "And I have no where else to go. I may go to college nearby, or maybe a trade school locally to do computer related stuff. That way I won't be too far from you!" He leans back a bit, then leans forward again, kissing the tip of her nose.
Shannon      "I heard it's possible to take college courses here," Shannon offers, smiling. Soothed to stillness, she just relaxes there, content to be held. Her cheeks flush a delicate shade of rose as he kisses the tip of her nose. There's a light little giggle, the young woman wiggling the tip of her nose about in innocent, playful fashion. "Might do that myself. Also did a little bit of research online myself on something else."

She rests her head on Jeremy's shoulder for a moment, allowing herself a small sigh of contentment. "Looked into what it'd take to earn my EMT certification, figured it couldn't hurt to have that back me up if I need to go out there with you guys. The whole course takes about six months. Turns out I can take the course before I reach eighteen, as long as I turn eighteen during the month in which I'd take the exam. Silly idea, though..."
Jeremy Statton "That is cool. Soon you'll be a real life EMT, riding in ambulances and helping people!" Jeremy says as he pulls her closer against him as she leans her head upon his shoulder. His hands settle about her waist, trying to find that perfect spot of appropriate. His cheeks continue to burn as he half lids his eyes, giving her a small sway side to side. "I don't know what I could study which would actually challenge me. I should have took college classes earlier, but it's almost cheating with how I can manage data. It's like instant research."
Shannon      "Even if I don't ride in ambulances... I mean, come on, let's face it, that's a confined space and my wings are kind of big... it'd still be an excellent skill set to have." With the light, swaying dance, Shannon smiles, her wings slowly furling about them both to create a soft, feathery cocoon. Her cheeks are ablaze, but it doesn't matter. There are precious few moments of peace and even joy like this, and she is determined to savor every last one of them possible. "Do you think they'd let a mutant take the course? Maybe I ought to talk to Mr. McCoy about it, he's got a good idea about these things."

A warm smile curls her lips upwards, and she shifts her head to gaze upwards at Jeremy. "Well... you just said it yourself. Instant research. How else could that be applied, besides the things you've been doing? How else could that gift be useful? And hey, even taking courses, you'd be saving yourself on trips to the library."
Jeremy Statton "I think I'd be bored. I miss being challenged with school." Jeremy sighs out as he tightens the hold against her for a moment, though his cheeks are going to burn themselves out. He's hugging a wet, pretty girl with a lot of skin showing. His poor teenage mind is going all over the place. "But it just means more time spending online and doing what I really like doing." He gives a twitch of his nose as he thinks. "Do you want to go to another movie?"
Shannon      Shannon only seems to relax more as Jeremy tightens the hug, a happy sigh escaping her. "A movie sounds great. Maybe we could get some pizza or burgers before or after. Probably pizza. Hot Pockets without a pocket." Giggling softly, she nudges his side. "What movie would you want to see?"
Jeremy Statton "Sure, we can do dinner afterwards." Jeremy says as he gives her a big smile upon his face. "I can watch whatever you want. I'll just be happy to go with you." He says as he gives her another tight squeeze before he lets her go.
