Buffy Summers Buffy Summers is leaving the university after a ridiculously long and gruelling exam, that of course ended with the sun falling. It's now early twilight evening, the last few rays of light having dipped below the horizon and leaving the sky in an eerie violet blue. Buffy shivers, wrapping her jacket around her shoulders as she hurries home, and a glance at the sky reveals stormy clouds and the first sparkles of a snowstorm.

"Stupid bus, can't believe I have to wait anither 30 minutes.." she sighs, pondering if she should wait or walk to the train station, a good 45 minutes away..Meanwhile, some unsavory figures lurk in the shadows watching her..
Spike      His gait is something she hasn't seen in...maybe ever. Back when the two of them first encountered and set about trying to kill each other. He is happy. Unlike his poofter grand sire, that doesn't make him the ultimate evil. He's still partially there anyway.

He passes at the edge of the campus. Why is anybody's guess. His Zippo clicks to life and he draws the flame into a cigarette. A few puffs to make sure it is lit and then he snaps the lighter closed again, putting it away. The sound of a familiar voice gives him pause and he turns his attention towards the source,"What?"
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers shivers a bit, stuffing her hands in her leather jacket, wishing she'd worn something a bit warmer than the thin, hot pink blouse she'd opted to wear this morning when it was several degrees warmer, and sunnier.

"Ugh, stupid, gloomy Gotham weather. Gimme sunnydale any time.." she grumbled as she checks her watch and peers down the road, wondering if the bus will at least come early like it had for the past several weeks.

Wait, what was that? she narrows her eyes, peering around and sensing a demon or a few, about. Tensing slightly, she pulls out her stake and tips towards where she thought she saw that flick of a zippo. or maybe that's where her demon radar directed her.

At any rate she's headed in Spike's general direction. Stake in hand. Ready to kill.
Spike      Well. It was a good night. It really way. Nothing worse than the one your heart is hung up on that loves someone else. He takes a deep breath and exhales the plume of smoke,"You know love. I told you I was leaving, generally that would imply that you don't follow me where I go."

He's a tactician, but there's no way he's going at you unprepared. Prepared to defend himself, but guessing you aren't here to kill him...at least not yet." A few steps and his face meets the illumination of of a street light. There is no denying the pale skin, the bleach blonde hair, or the long black coat.
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers blinks and comes up short, stopping only a few inches from stabbing him, once the light illuminates him. "Spike!?" she frowns, "Of all the people to bump into...What?" she blinks at the accusation, kind of annoyed and it shows, "Me? Following you? Gimme a break...I thought you knew I went to school at Gotham U."

she nods towards the towering campus behind them. "Sounds more like you were the one following me. What the heck you doing out here, in the middle of the night?" Buffy has lowered the stake a bit, but doesn't exactly pull it away, as if she might be tempted to stake him regardless.
Spike      Taking a deep drag from the cigarette and exhales...mostly away from you,"I didn't know where you went to school nor do I care really." Ahh yes, the bravado that comes up when annoyed,"I left Bludhaven to get away from you and your Scoobies. I'd say Gotham wasn't far enough, but I'm not leaving here too. Just patrolling the campus tonight for a scrap. You can have it."
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers arches a brow, "Patrolling? Thought you weren't a Scooby anymore...What's with the heroics?" she seems mildly amused, more than anything else, "Well don't mind me, I'm just waiting for the bus, though I thought I heard something else out there.."

Another casual shrug as she glances over her shoulder than back at him with a slight smirk. "I honestly don't know why you still feel so much anger and bitterness towards me all the time. Thought we moved past all that. Didn't you you say you ' met someone new?' Not like I really care, but.." she shrugs, so cooly flinging the same retort back at him.
Spike      "Not patrolling for vampires." he replies with a smirk. He doesn't elaborate either,"Enjoy the wait for the bus." he tells you and starts to walk away,"There isn't really any anger anymore. Just want to move on. I did find someone new." he tells her.

Another drag and he pauses, frowning and glancing back the way he came, past you. The frown creases deeper and something in his stance shifts from flippant to defensive,"So lets call it a simple matter of we don't care anymore and move past it."
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers shrugs, "Sure, works for me. So why do t you continue on, patrolling for...Whatever it is you're patrolling for. I just wanna catch my bus and get back home myself." she rolls her eyes at him and actually steps away from him. She had hoped they could at least be...What? Friends? Acquaintances? Allies?

Of course there is still bitterness there. And she knows she used him, if only a little, to make herself feel better. "Jerk..." she mutters under her breath.

A sudden pained scream cuts through the air then, in the shadows behind a nearby building. And there are definitely at last three shadowy figures lurking about in the darkness there..
Spike      "Enjoy the ride." he replies and starts on his way,"Sounds like maybe you need enjoy some ride soon enough. Thomas not getting it done?" Yeah he's rotten that way. Too easy sometimes. At least this way they aren't skulking at each other.

There is a laugh in the darkness and he replies,"That's Mister Jerk to you love." He is almost at the head of the next alley when the scream pierces the night. A deep breath and he sighs, tossing the cigarette aside and turning towards the shadowy figures again,"Since your in town anyway." he comments in a challenging sort of tone and focuses on the trouble.
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers grits her teeth and clenches her fists, twirling around quickly as he dares to mention her boyfriend in a mocking tone, bringing the stake right in his face. "The hell did you say?!" she snarls, a dangerous fire in her eyes, "Mock Thomas again and I'll personally tear you limb from limb and feed you to the crows before I burn you to ashes! Do I make myself clear?!"

She would actually proceed to cut up his pretty little face if only a little, when the scream pierces the night. Ignoring Spike, she rushes off in search of the cries for help. And if Spike should follow, he will see a woman crouched in the corner of an alley, surrounded by three large men, probably football players in their former life.

Now, skin pale and papery, eyes yellow and unblinking and limbs stiff as they move almost mechanically to surround her. Zombies.
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers doesn't waste another breath on Spike, lunging at the biggest zombie, tackling him to the ground and pummeling even as Spike slams the other two heads together. But they're pretty tough, not even stunned as their heads are hit together. "The heck do you kill these guys? " Buffy frowns as she continues to to pummel her so,vie.

Meanwhile, the other two are still recovering, both slamming their fists at Spike in a vicious pincer attack, should they connect.
Spike      Fight has commenced. The notorious double noggin knocker. The stooges would be proud. Spike shoves them back from him for a moment and then covers up when they move again. Given the Three Stooges start to things he pokes one of the pair in the eyes with his index and middle finger. The other kicks kicked in the knee.

The staggered one gets both of Spike's thumbs shoved through his eyes a moment later. A snap of the neck makes that horrid sound. A moment later Spike is twisting the head off like some sort of siezed bottle cap,"Heads off or obliterated." He turns around to get punched in the mouth by the first one again as he rolls the first head down the alley, Taking a few stumbling steps back, his game face appears as the demon rises to the surface.
Buffy Summers The first zombie is blinded by vicious eye-poking and swings about wildly at Spike, seeming to still sense him somehow - perhaps super hearing or smell? - even as the first zombie's head is snapped off and rolled down the alley, the second continues to blindly pummel on him.

Buffy is pretty busy herself, grabbing and throwing her zombie into a wall, using her stake to pin it there as she looks for something to cut its neck off. It kicks out at her, sending her stumbling back, yelling as it hits her knee. "Dammit! Just like before.." She glances around and in the distance, about a dozen more undead creatures, not all of them as...As fresh as these ones, are heading their way.

This is definitely no good..
Spike      There are certain rules to fighting. One of them being you are going to get hit. Spike can take a beating, but that doesn't make it fun. Well, not usually fun. A few shots as he tries to get his bearings. He covers up and takes said shots mostly to his hands and arms instead of the head at least. He's still going to have a nice shiner and fat lip.

No time to really get too fancy, he steps into the zombie and shifts his body down, forward, and his head move to the side. A right upper cut catches the chin of the zombie. It doesn't really stagger it much, but it buys him a second to follow with a left hook to the head and a right cross to the jaw. Stop it, no. Slow him down to Spike can disengage to square up. Noting Buffy's gaze he follows it,"Bloody Hell!" is spat as usual.

The zombie starts towards him again. He duck, spins his body, and catches the zombie on the back of the legs, collapsing the knees and making it fall. No real weapons and no time to tear the head off so he stomps it again and looks at Buffy,"We need a better place to stand if we're fighting them all."
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers looks around and finds a large chunk of broken glass which she uses to cut off her zombie's head. The college girl who was attacked screams and cowers on the ground. "Come on, get inside, we'll lead them away!" she says as she helps the girl to her feet, giving her a gentle shove towards the nearby building.

"Lock the doors!" she warns her before focusing on Spike as he pummels it long enough for it to stop moving. "zombies. Last time I encountered them, they were being co trolled by a creepy mask thing. It's probably in that swarm over there.." she nods to the swarm rapidly approaching them.

"Shouldnt be hard to find, ugly wooden mask on one of their faces controlling the others, shoots out laser beams. Aim for the eyes and the others will fall." she glances around and starts to head away from the campus, "Best to lead them away from more innocents. That big empty field across the street should do it!"
Spike      One hard kick in the head of the zombie. It won't come off, but at least it will stagger it a moment. He watches to make sure the girl makes her way towards safety and looks at the field. There is a definite hesitation to going there,"We can't stay here, but out there they can surround us and come from all sides."

That said, the options are pretty limited short of leading them into the campus where they can be bottle necked. He sighs and starts towards the open field. There is a dark mutter about campus security types and he pauses to look at a building. His head turns to the side just a little and he smirks,"Well...well." he mutters and takes a little detour towards the building,"I'm right behind you."
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers shakes her head, "Trust me, there's a playground out there, one of those play castles, monkey bars? We can climb up there if we beat them to it, give us a vantage point.."

She does lead the way, drawing the zombies away from the campus and innocents. At least it's highly unlikely that anyone will be in the playground at night. "Just wish I'd brought my crossbow, never really expected to fight a pack of zombies out here.." she frowns, tucking away the glass shard, and as they near the large grassy field, she still has her eyes open for something else that she can use as a long range weapon.

The zombie pack is slowly surrounding them as they give chase, but they're not particularly fast or agile.
Spike      Gotham fire code. It's a good thing. Particularly when there are fire hoses and other suppression means in public boxes. Of course when he breaks the glass, Spike comes back with an axe and races after her. When he sees the park he nods in agreement with her,"Cross bow would be good." Still, high ground and a chance to survey what is coming at them.

"Been a long time since I was part of a castle storming." he mutters darkly and as it is a little easier to stand on and more defensible to his estimation that is where he runs,"One thing about it with you Slayer. It's never dull when you're around." he grumbles,"I wouldn't want my life to get boring."
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers rolls her eyes as he moves to join her. "I could say the same for you, *vampire*" her eyes flicker with mild amusement despite the situation they are in. When he notices the fire axe, she is oddly reminded of the first time they met, him an evil vamp, her a young slayer just starting out. Her mom had saved her life by hitting over the head with a similar weapon.

Buffy can't help but smirk, "Just like old old times, huh?" she continues to run, just about outrunning the zombies but they're quickly closing in. She points to an old flickering street lamp that illuminates a colorful playground with a large climbing apparatus attached to a big slide on a hill and a second level 'fortress' at the top of some narrow steps.

"Over there!"
Spike      "Wouldn't miss it." he replies to her comment about old times. She is right about trouble following the duo. That's just how things are. He nods at her indication and makes his way to the castle in question,"Good a place as any to make a final stand." he muses darkly.

He looks in to castle before charging in, axe first. After he is sure there isn't anyone in there, he goes in and heads for the way up,"Note. If someone is wearing a bloody mask when we get it from them be burn the bloody thing and then throw its ashes into various bodies of water, far from each other."
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers smirks a bit and shrugs at bittersweet memories. Hey, they've been through a lot, either as enemies, allies or almost-lovers. But in. the end they seemed to work well as a team if nothing else.

"Right. This is definitely different, but we can hold our own. I'll take the north tower, you take the south. It's high enough that those oafs can't jump up but the slides are the easiest entry points. And that ladder on my side."

She scoops up a big handful of shale rocks as she jumps up the slide, waiting for Spike to follow with the zombies quickly surrounding them. Once he is safely in the castle, Buffy starts pelting rocks with powerful force at those nearest her. They move slowly, groaning, trying to awkwardly climb the slides as expected. One of them, carefully protected by the others looks mostly human and alive, hidden behind a creepy wooden painted mask.
Spike      Once they are in a defensible position, Spike settles into the south tower and waits for the moment. The first one that pops its head into his view gets it split down the middle with the axe. The damaged brain severed. It's not a beheading, but the brain is done and so is the nasty.

His eyes move over the to where the glowy eyed mask wearing nuisance,"So do we kill them all and then try for the sodding wanker in the mask or are you up for something a little more proactive and less tactically sane?"
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers shakes her head, sending several powerful kicks out at those who keep trying to climb slowly up the ladder and the slide nearest her. "We don't. Hit the masked creature in the eyes and it destroys the mask. Destroy the mask and it breaks the spell on the animated corpses."

She glances at him, "Think you can throw that axe far and fast enough to destroy he mask?" shouldn't be too difficult. "I'll give you a distraction." more zombies swarm them both, starting to shake and rattle the swaying bridge.

Buffy snarls, pulling out her flashlight, drawing their attention. Most: of them start to swarm her now, reaching out with claws and teeth to try and drag her down with them.

Meanwhile, the masked creature focuses on Spike and moves closer, staring right at him as it shoots a pair of energy beams from its eyes right at him!
Spike "Wasn't my first intention no." he replies and sees that idea go down the drain when she starts to get over whelmed. What can you do. His attention moves back to red eyes a few seconds before the blast comes towards him. He ducks just in time for the blast to fly over his head. He growls under his breath and stands up again.

Another zombie sort makes its way to the top and gets the head split treatment. He swings his legs over the side of the castle and jumps over the zombies on the ground. At the height of the jumping arc he hurls the axe at the mask with a double handed, over the head throw meant to split the mask and the head behind it. He'll know immediately if he hits it of course so he's bracing for that as well as the landing coming up.
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers is getting majorly swarmed by zombies, and she is going all out by now, throwing more rocks at the farthest, using her large glass shard as a kind of effective dagger, slashing and slicing through those nearest her. "Hurry!" she calls out.

Meanwhile, a loyal zombie stumbles into the path of flying axe, splitting its worthless head and causing it to stumble to the ground. The masked fiend turns to face Spike, aiming another pair of laser beams at him again. One of the zombies is heading for the axe..

This is not looking good..
Spike      Hitting the ground with no jarring pain in his head, Spike manages a tuck and roll. Ciming back up to his feet and looking for the axe. A sigh and he does something very rare, running a few steps and hitting the zombie in the back with a flying kick. The two hit the ground and he again rolls up, taking the axe in hand with the roll. Sometimes the magic works.

Sometimes the magic doesn't work at the laser beams sizzle his arm and shoulder. Another mixture of swearing and howling emit this time and nothing terribly clear. He hits the ground and squeezes the earth with his free hand. This will hurt too, but with the bad arm he flings a handful of loose dirt and sand into the eyes of the mask wearer.
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers is still busy fending off zombies, but as some stragglers start to creep up behind Spike, she yells out a warning and hurls her shard of glass at the one nearest him, cutting off its arm.

It shrieks and flails around, blood spurting everywhere, further startled and confused as Buffy flashes her incredibly bright flashlight at its face.

Fortunately, Spike hits dust in the mask fiend's eyes and it too, flails around blindly.
Spike      "The things you get me into." he mutters darkly, swinging the axe through the brain of the one who she got with the glass. A second later he moves his shoulder and hips enough to plant the axe right into the eyes of the mask, swinging like a baseball player chasing a high pitch. Just a matter of knowing now whether the mask wearer was human or demon in origin.
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers rolls her eyes, "Me? This isn't my fault..." she manages, just as the zombies jump onto the castle playground and rip her off the monkey bars before dog piling her on the ground..She yells before vanishing from view..

Fortunately, Spike manages to successfully destroy the mask fiend and with a shriek and flash of light, it, and the other zombies falling lifelessly, or at least no longer moving, on the ground.
Spike      So, the pair of them go down in a heap. She is covered in dead bodies and he is screaming in pain as the nasty chip exploding in his brain. He lays there on his side and just holds his head for a bit. Bad guys dead, no reason to come back up blindly swinging.

When he is able to sit up and think he calls out,"Buffy?" It isn't loud, but hey he's looking at least right? The pile of bodies catches his attention and he sighs softly,"Bloody hell."
Buffy Summers Silence follows for several moments before an equally battered and bruised Buffy climbs out from beneath the mountain of Zombie bodies. But at least they're no longer animated and attacking, right?

"Spike? You okay?" she hurries to his side when he yells, and peering towards the mask wearer, causes her to sigh. Right, forgot about that. "Phew, just like old times.lAt least we did it. Guess it's a good thing, bumping into you afterall. Don't think I could have taken them myself, so..."

She hesitates, not wanting this to be taken the wrong way or something. "Thank you..?" she offers him her hand, helping him to his feet if allowed.
Spike      He lays there for a moment longer and takes the offered hand. When she helps him up he snorts softly,"We really need to stop meeting like this Buffy. People will talk." A sigh and he looks around the area,"They'll talk about us constantly being in bad places all the time. We'd better go."

He looks back towards the bus stop and mutter,"Maybe I should take you to another bus stop for tonight since I don't feel like answering questions and you probably don't either."
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers smiles softly and nods, "We really do need to work on that, but hey, at least we always kick butt, better as a team than as enemies, right?" at least she seems more relaxed. Glancing back to the bus stop, then at her watch, Buffy sighs and shakes her head.

"Its fine, I think we got them all, besides the bus is coming in a couple of minutes.." she glances at his shoulder, "You should get some rest, besides, your new girlfriend is probably worried."

Oh right, questions. She glances at the bodies in the playground and sighs, "It'll be fine, it's dark outside, they won't see til tomorrow, besides..We wouldn't want people to...Talk, right?" there's a faint smirk on her lips.
Spike      "We're a good team." he agrees with a shrug,"We've got that. Usually we end up with less bruises, especially me." he quips and starts walking towards the bus stop again since that is roughly where he was walking by anyway. His gaze looks over the bodies again and keeps walking,"Selina doesn't worry easy. We both live interesting lives to say the least."

He looks down towards the bodies once more and then continues walking again,"No things to talk about." he agrees and glances towards the sound of a bus and nods,"Give my regards to the little bit." he comments and makes to leave. Of course, he doesn't go far and makes sure she gets on the bus before he goes on his way again.
Buffy Summers Buffy Summers arches a curious brow. "So you really are dating the philanthropist Selina Kyle." she smirks, word gets around quickly.

"Nice catch, how'd you manage to charm her?" she chuckles, arms out in surrender, "Easy, it's only a joke..Don't worry, I'll be out of your hair soon." a pause, "Take care of yourself Spike..it was good seeing you."
Spike      "Good news travels fast." he replies with a snort and shrugs,"We get on pretty well yes. She's a amazing in many ways." A smirk and he reaches into his pocket for a cigarette and a lighter,"Right place. Right time. I did something unusual. I wasn't myself for a change."

"It was good to see you too Buffy. Watch it out there." he replies and starts on his way since she is getting on the bus now. He lights the cigarette and the smoke is the only thing that might give away his departure. There is a beautiful philanthropist waiting for him after all.
