Tyrone Johnson Cloak has been absent a few days. It doesn't mean he hasn't been keeping an eye out on the church, but he's been primarily occupied with tailing some leads and doing some recon work. Who better than a teleporter to do some spying? The pickings have been slim. People are wary of them and its getting progressively harder to find their targets as they go to ground.

It's getting quite frustrating.

Come late morning, Cloak calls it a night and returns to the church in a puff of shadow and quiet hiss of air. He's looking shadowier and less distinct than unusual, telltale signs he's running low. Though at least that means he didn't jump anyone while he was out and about despite his hunger.
Tandy Bowen While he has been gone, Dagger has been receiving a couple of guests. First it was The Night Nurse who set her shoulder back into her socket and gave her an actual sling for her arm, followed by a romantic encounter by Kurt who brought her some food, then The Blue Beetle who brought her a massive box of food, camping gear, gift cards and a cell phone.

Settled in a pew is Tandy, who is bundled up in a new jacket, poking at this new phone in her hands. It only has two apps. Poke'mon Go and this Blue Beetle Icon that is a direct line to the Titan. She has a frown upon her face, grumbling to herself as she still hasn't figured out how to really play this game, even though it's quite simple.

At the sight of Cloak, she straightens up. "Ty! You're back. Where .. have you been?" She asks, holding up her glowing hands to send a few shards of light towards him.
Tyrone Johnson "Out hunting Dragons." Says Cloak as he walks over to her and sits down in the pew, sighing visibly as the light is barely visible before his shadows absorb it like drops of water in the desert. "I didn't have much luck, they're laying low. They're getting too wary now and are getting harder to track. We may need to back off slightly and let them come back in to the light, as much as I hate to let up the pressure."

He slumps down slightly, for a brief moment the image of youthful stubborness with the impression of his arms being folded defiantly over his chest. "We can't be everywhere at once either."
Tandy Bowen "No, we can't be." Tandy says with a soft sigh. "Daredevil came by to visit me.. brought his Nurse.. then the Blue Beetle showed up." She gives a motion to the large box of supplies. "He came with an apology, begged for forgiveness. We went round and round in philosophy. He .. wants to train us .. and give us support in our fight against the Dragons, now that he knows what we are up against and why. He's just scared that we're going to become killers."

She rubs at her bad shoulder a bit with a wince. "The Devil and the Nurse said I can't fight for two more weeks or else I may cause more damage to my arm. I feel like I am letting you down though. Maybe you can .. work with the Devil, or this Beetle guy.. he's rich. I guess he's a billionaire but he wants to fight for the little people."
Tyrone Johnson "Hm." There's a low, grumbly noise from Tyrone as he glances towards the supplies like they may be rigged to explode. "Perhaps if they all stopped looking at us like we were the villains, these encounters would go better. The Devil and the Nurse seem more reasonable. I'm glad they were able to get your arm fixed."

His frown darkens at mention of her hesitations. "You are not letting me down, Tandy. You're the only one who never has. An injury isn't anything to apologize for. I should have been here more. Do you need me to just be Tyrone for awhile, get some things done for you? I just don't want you to exhaust yourself to do that either."
Tandy Bowen Shaking her head, Tandy lets out a sigh. "It's okay. We have enough supplies to last us a month. Geez, I have people popping over and asking me if they can get us hotel rooms and apartments. It's like.. all these people care about us now." She says in a weak voice, emotional. "And I keep telling them no because I don't want you to be upset. I know they want to help me. They seem a pretty blonde girl who's living in a church .. eating chips for lunch. I know that's why they want to help .. I just don't want you to think I'd be trying to get away from you, or have you take it wrong."

Rubbing her hand against her jeans, she sighs loudly again. "I don't know what I want anymore, Ty. We are not superheroes. I'm not a superhero. But, I dress up like one, I am fighting people in the streets, I'm talking like I'm the God damn Batman. I scare people, even those who want to help us. I just want to go home and back in my old bed again. I want to hug my mom again, even if she is a bitch. I just wish we could go back in time before any of this happened to us."

She gives a small sniff, brushing her hand against her eyes. "But the only good thing that came of this was finding you. You're my best friend."
Tyrone Johnson Tyrone Johnson grimaces as he looks away and up towards the ceiling. "I just can't shake the feeling they're only helping out of pity. It happens all the time. Rich successful folks see a couple of kids in a gutter and feel sorry for them. So they help out once or twice to make themselves feel better. 'Look, I gave them a chance to make a better life!' when all they did was make it worse. Now the kid knows what a better life can feel like but can't reach it. Ain't none of them offer things like a better school, or a good job for their parents; ways for them to help themselves. No. Just a taste of what they'll never be able to get on their own." His tone is bitter, festering with a low simmering anger that goes beyond just him.

"We aren't heroes because none of them will see us as ones. And I'd bet that if we let them help, they'll just take the credit and then go back to seeing us as an annoyance. Heroes are the same selfish assholes as the people they bust. I don't see many of them out helping people after the news cameras go down and there's no one to punch. If they want me to accept their 'help', then they need to prove to me it's not just them feeling sorry for themselves. I ain't worried about you leaving, Tandy. I want you to be safe, to be happy, to have a good place to life. What I don't want is them coming back to ask for the rent."
Tandy Bowen "Of course they are doing it out of pity. We have a terrible story. We were taken away from our world and created by a syringe." Tandy says with a sigh. "So they see two super powered kids living in a church on a holy mission to hurt those who hurt others. They should be worried about us. On paper, we very well could become bad guys in their eyes. But, shouldn't we take their help anyways? If it means helping children and they have resources .. and are willing .."

"Kurt keeps talking about wanting us to work with the X-Men. Now The Blue Beetle wants to work with us. Maybe we should see it as a good thing, that these heroes are interested in us. I'm scared to trust people also, but what if we pass up something good and we don't get that chance again?" She asks in a worried tone.
Tyrone Johnson "I'm not saying we can't work with them." Says Tyrone with a sour note as his eyes study the dirty stained glass windows. "I'm just saying I want to be sure that they're putting their efforts where it matters. No, we're not in a great place, but the ones we're trying to help are in a worse place. I want them to be focused on helping them, not us. If we're all successful, then you and I can earn a better place."

He turns his head to look back towards her, "And if you need to take their help to go live someplace better, then do it. Just check the fine print. I'm not going to leave you, Tandy, but you need those things more than be to stay healthy. Take care of yourself, just be careful."
Tandy Bowen "You kinda left me for the last few days and missed out on all of this company that came over." Tandy mutters under her breath as she stares at the phone in her hand. She taps the glass again, watching the ball roll off to the side.

"I don't know what to do. I'm fine here." She says in a grumbly manner. "Kurt really cares about me though. I don't know if we're .. dating .. or not. It's hard to explain. But we go out at least. I like him. He knows what it's like being what he looks like."
Tyrone Johnson "I mean in general, Tan." Tyrone grumps back at her, though he doesn't sound upset. "You're not fine. Look. You're my best friend, you always will be, but I don't want you sacrificing yourself for me. I don't want you being out in the cold for me or taking a bullet for me. I want you to live. If only one of us ever makes it out of all of this to see a normal life, I want it to be you. So don't worry about me. I know I get overprotective, and stubborn, and angry; but if you see a chance, take it."

There's not much of him, but he does still lean in to rest his shoulder against her's. "I'll talk to the bug if you want me to. I'm still pissed he hurt you, but I'll... promise not to eat him and at least hear him out."
Tandy Bowen "You can't live without me though, that's the point and the problem. I explode without you, you turn into a shadow without me. Neither of us are 'fine'. We're never going to be fine unless someone like Reed Richards or Tony Stark fixes us." Tandy says as she rubs at her eye tiredly. "And we can't do that unless we start trusting people. We could be turning away someone that can cure us."

Ass he leans against his shoulder, she sighs heavily. "I'm upset he hurt me too, but he feels like shit about it. He spent several thousand dollars trying to apologize .. he's a good guy, I can tell. He just made a mistake. But I think we did also. We didn't stop to explain, we just .. attacked."
Tyrone Johnson "Acting like the desperate alley cats that we are. Well, you'd be a cat. I'm definitely more of a dog guy." Tyrone replies with a weak grin and an attempt at being light-hearted. "We'll just have to set up... lunch dates or something."

She can feel him lift and fall with a sigh, even if much of the action is just reflex at this point. "It's just hard to trust. But, you're right. Maybe one of them can help us. We weren't born like this, we were made. Maybe they can undo it, or at least find us a way to survive."
