Jubilee Jubilee used to live in a mall, and not just figureatively. She's also the type who enjoy malls even when they're not a place to live. So, on an afternoon without class, she decides to go to the mall. Fixing her tube top and trenchcoat, adjusting the little collar on her neck, she steps out into the food court. Hand son her hips, pulling her sunglasses up off her eyes, looking at options.
Colin King Colin King will never quite get over the concept of malls. They're a very uniquely American thing, mind you. Even in multimarkets across the globe, nothing quite matches up to the concept of the American "Mall". But even a proud, patriotic Brit such as himself has to admit the convenience of such a place. And so here he is. Salem Center is quite a ways out of New York City, where he'd been staying in Manhattan, but the quieter scenery of the uptown location was a welcome change. Less hustle and bustle and more akin to his home in Leicestershire.

Colin is walking along the row, with a single shopping bag dangling from his loose fingers in one hand. Brooks Bros Formalwear. He looks like he just stepped off of a display, himself. Dark navy blue suit with a barely visible windowpane pattern. Light grey shirt that holds just a hint of blue, and a purple satin tie. Hair slicked with a side part. Prim and proper. The very antithesis of Jubilee in her tubetop and trenchcoat.

Which he accidentally shoulder checks as he passes by her, intently looking at his phone rather than his surroundings.

"Bollocks. I am so sorry!" He says, as he looks up to ensure that he hadn't outright bowled anyone over or anything. For what it's worth, the expression on his face is one of genuine concern.
Jubilee Jubilee squeaks when she's, well, shoulder checked. She turns, going wide-eyed, fixing her sunglasses so they don't completely fall off her head. Seeing a man in a suit, well, she does't think it was someone trying to cause trouble. "Oh... um." Rapidly calming back down after the shock. "Don't worry about it. I'm fine."
Colin King "No no. I really should take more care to pay mind where I walk," Colin insists, offering up a sort of lopsided smile that seems surprisingly earnest. He gives Jubilee a once over, taking in her attire and overall demeanor. His smile softens and he says, "I was just going to get something to eat, as I'm positively famished, but..."

Gesturing about the food court, he seems a bit lost. After all... Places like Nathan's Hot Dogs and Raisin' Cane's aren't exactly part of Colin's regular diet.

"I'll make you a deal... You tell me what I should actually eat in here, and I'll buy you lunch to make up for it."
Jubilee Jubilee definitely isn't going to look like a teacher, not dressed like this. But hey, she's not a usual teacher anyway. She rubs her baremidriff and snickers. "I was trying to decide what to eat. I was leaning toward pizza. How's that?"
Colin King "Pizza," Colin muses. He seems to tumble it around in his brain parts for a few seconds, and then gives a nod of his head. He knows well the joys and horrors of American pizza. It's grotesque in it's greasiness, and yet, it holds a very special place in one's heart for being pretty much delicious, even when it's trash. "Alright. Pizza it is, then. Lead the way? Oh, I'm Colin, by the way. Colin King. And you are?"
Jubilee Jubilee smiles "Jubilation," she nods, answering with her own name as she adjusts her coat, and starts to lead him along to the pizza place. "Just one slice is enough for me. Thank you very much, Colin, but you really don't owe me anything over an accidental bump." But apparently young and perky equals free pizza? Could have used that back in the day!
Colin King "Pleased to meet you, Jubilation," Colin replies, his brows furrowing just the slightest. "That's certainly an interesting name. I like it."

As they walk and she mentions not having to get her anything, he shrugs his shoulders and smirks a bit. "I've got more money than I could spend in a lifetime, thanks to parents who were absolute shite... I'm a stranger in a strange country and I'm still getting my bearings. Make no mistake, Jubilation... You're doing me a great service right now just by being sort of like a tour guide. Or a food guide. Whatever. Point is, I just appreciate the company and the ability to take a moment and not feel like I'm... drowning in uneducated decisions. If that makes sense."
Jubilee Jubilee looks over and smiles. "Very nice. I know how that is..." Giggling, she gets in line, and brings him along with her. "So you're from England or something?" she asks with a nod. "Welcome to America. You here on vacation or to stay?"
Colin King "Do you?" Colin asks, quirking a brow in Jubes' direction, his smile taking on a conspiratorial slant. "You seem like the type that pretty much takes command of whatever room she finds herself in. I can't imagine you ever feeling like you're drowning. But... first impressions, while they are "everything", they aren't always correct."

Her question of his citizenship brings forth a nod of his head, "England. Exactly. I'm here for work. In the city. I decided that I needed to get out of the city for a bit, and had to do some shopping. Google strongly suggested that this place might suit my needs best. While I don't think I fancy malls, per say, the rest of this place seems fairly nice. Might have to consider purchasing a condo or something around here. Do you live around here?"
Jubilee Jubilee snickers. "No I mean... before my parents died, we were rich." She giggles. "As for taking COMMAND... oh wow, I mean. I can barely take command of when I go to work, let alone an whole ROOM." She orders a pepperoni pizza slice. "Just the basics, and a coke please." After ordering she steps aside, puts out her arms, and spins, the coat liefting. "But the mall is always my space."
Colin King "I'll take the same," Colin tells the young man behind the counter, before pulling out his wallet and offering over his card for payment. Turning his attention back to Jubilee, Colin chuckles. "Well... here's to a fellow orphan of privilege. There's not too many of us out there, but I've found that each one I know tends to be extraordinary in some fashion."

Watching her do her spin, Colin leans against the counter while waiting for their drinks and pizza to be served up on a small red tray. "So that's what it is, then. The mall. Tell me, because I'm truly curious... what makes these places so magical? It seems claustrophobic to me. Too many people. Too loud."
Jubilee Jubilee leans her hip on the glass display, as she comes in to look to Colin again. Sipping on her straw a moment first. "Well um. It's huge, first off. Look at the high ceilings, the wide open areas. IT's like a whole big park, but inside. On hot days it's cool, on cold days it's warm. Moms come here to exercise, dads come here to buy gifts, kids come here to hang out. It's something for everyone." She frowns briefly at the orphan talk,b ut adds nothing to it.
Colin King She doesn't like to talk about her parents. Noted. Colin never had issue with it, since they were dead to him before they actually shuffled off this mortal coil. But just because his own parents were the worst doesn't mean that everyone else shares his carefree attitude toward familial passings. Instead, he focuses on what she has to say about their surroundings.

"I suppose you have a point. Convenience is efficient, and having one place to go to get your clothes, electronics, haircut, and workout in is not a bad concept. It just seems so..."

A pause.

"People...y. I suppose I just don't mix well with too many other people."

Their pizza offered up on the tray, along with two large paper cups of soda, Colin takes up the tray and starts to lead them towards a nearby table. "And most people are kind of gross. Like these people who have smeared what looks like ketchup on this table..."
Jubilee Jubilee was a tween at the time. And at the same time she lost them, then lost all the money, which is why she was living in a mall. But it happens. The pizzas are served, and she grabs hers in the little cardboard box shaped like a pizza slice. "You prefer small groups?"
Colin King "If we're being honest," Colin says, as he sits down at a table and takes up his own slice in its nice little cardboard box, "I don't think I'm very suitable to be around people at all, most of the time. I tend to stick to myself, with only a very few people around me. Obviously there are some people that I have to keep around me, because, well... work. But I sometimes think that if things were different, I'd like to just throw everything away and move into a cabin out in the middle of the woods somewhere and just forget the rest of the world existed. You ever feel that way?"
Jubilee Jubilee grabs napkins ont he way. Once he sits, she carefully sits, and puts the napkin pile in the middle, and opens up to her pizza. "Mmm," she hums, eating some immediately. "I actually own a cabin, sometimes I do like to have my own space, though the people I work with are very important to me. But I'd never want to be there all the time."
Colin King Colin listens, and nods his head. Of course, he understands that his desire to be isolated is extreme. But then, most people aren't quite the monster that he is, either. Not that he wears that openly. No, instead, he puts on his smile.

"The people you work with are the most important people to you? So what is it that you do for work? If you don't mind me prying, that is."
Jubilee Jubilee smiles. "I am.. well. I'm a gym teacher." She sucks on her straw a bit more. "At the school that took me in after everything. So yeah. What do you do?"
Colin King "A gym teacher? I can see that," Colin says, his smile broadening as he takes a bite of his pizza and chews it over. Pondering how best to answer the question of what he does. "I'm mostly just an investor. I put in money to projects that might help the world in some way, and when they take off, I reap the benefits of the payoff. Currently I'm investing in the security sector."

That's one way of putting it, at least.

"So you were taken in by a school, and you still live and work there, and even have a private cabin? That sounds... very nice."
Jubilee Jubilee really digs into the pizza now, carefully eating, getting as little grease as possible on her hands, leaning forward as she folds the slice and bites into it. Then grabbing an napkin to dab her hands. "An investor. That's, well I guess that means you can live alone if that's what would really make you happy. And it's not bad. I mean, at a busy school, its' nice to have a little privacy."
Colin King Colin sits back for a moment, just watching her work that pizza over with a slight hint of amusement in his crystaline blue eyes. "Yes, well, I'm certain you could find any number of reasons to desire privacy in such a situation. An attractive young woman with a vivacious personality? I'm positive that you have no end of suitors trying to entertain you, right?"
Jubilee Jubilee reacts to being lookd at with a wink, and a smirk. dabbing her cheek, she sts the napkin down and smiles. "Well. The gymnast body isn't the, you know, TV ideal. But, you know, some men have the best taste." She giggles. "Thank you."
Colin King "There should always be appreciation for a body that has been well taken care of and honed to be perfect," Colin retorts with a shrug. "But then, me... I'm hopeless. I simply love the attention of women."

He gives a playful smirk, as he takes another bite of his pizza, after following her lead and folding it in half. He seems to have bit off more than he can chew, though, as he washes it down with a gulp of soda. "So then..."

He takes a napkin, wiping the edges of his lips before turning his eyes back on Jubilee. "What now, then?"
Jubilee Jubilee tilts her head, and winks. "Perfect. Well Colin, you know how to be nice." She snickers, and finishes her pizza. TAking another napkin, she carefully cleans off her hands of all the grease, then gathers up the trash. "Well, I was just getting food, and going to go window shopping. We can do that. Unless there was something you really needed, Mr. I want to be alone."
Colin King "It's Mister I-want-to-be-alone-except-when-there-are-a-million-other-people-surrounding-me-and-then-I-want-just-one-person-to-keep-my-mind-off-of-it, to you, Miss Jubilation," Colin retorts with a sly smile and a playful wink. He does lift his bag up, from where he had set it at his feet while they've been sitting, and presents it almost like a trophy. "My shopping is done, thankfully. But you've been a real gem, so if you're looking to go window shopping, I suppose it's only fair that I return the courtesy you've shown me and accompany you."
Jubilee Jubilee winks right back and giggles when the man defennds himself. Standing herself, she stretches her arms wide, then tosses the cardboard and napkins away. The cup is cept, sucking on her straw some more. "Sounds good, Colin. But you're the guest. Anything you're curious about? What do you want to see?"
Colin King Standing from his seat, Colin takes his drink in hand and scoots his chair back into place under the table. Her question is met with a curious tilt of the head, his gaze averted upwards as if in thought. Half under his breath, he mutters, "I can think of a few things..."

Then, he shakes his head, smiles and looks back at Jubilee. "I've really got no clue. It's one of those situations where I'm afraid I don't know what I don't know. So why don't you just lead the way and we'll call it an adventure for me."
Jubilee Jubilee grins. "Tell you what, Colin. I can show you what it's like out of town. If you want. I mean. There IS more to this area than the mall, even if that sounds impossible."
