Barbara Gordon Gotham at night is when most of the criminal element seems to come out of the woodwork. One would think they would have learned that Bats are also nocturnal as well. But then again they are also around during the day when needed. The lower level criminals do seem to think darkness affords them some extra measure of protection. They are, of course, wrong.

The 13's. Named for the rough and decrepit street of the same name, they claim to be the best of the worst. (Not much of a claim to fame, that), thought Batgirl as she stood atop an abandoned and decaying middle school facing the street. She watched as the 13's began to arrive in the former administrative parking lot at the school. She was patient. It's difficult to catch all the fish, but she intended to cast a wide net and bring in as many of them as possible. They were responsible for dealing drugs in the area, a half dozen murders in the last month alone, and more robberies and muggings than could fit on a child's wish list at Christmas.

The night was largely still but for an occasional breeze that gave movement to Batgirl's cape as she observed the gang members gathering.
Austin Dallas Imagine if you will, the Black Widow. The sleek and sexy black leather catsuit that clings to her body like a second skin. The way the leather seems to shimmer and flow with her every motion in the flickering lights of the street lamps. Now imagine it was on a capuchin monkey. That is how Tina, the monkey currently residing on Austin's shoulder is dressed. Austin himself is dressed in a simple red "Gotham Knights" hoodie and black jeans, hands stuffed into the hoodie's kangaroo pouch. When the Capuchin chitters at him, he grins slightly. "Yes I know it's cold Tina. Look we'll give it twenty more minutes, if nothing happens by then we'll pack it in and I'll make us some cocoa." Another soft chitter. "Yes with marshmallows. I'm not some sort of heathen. Besides what it.." He pauses, head turning quickly towards the alley. "You hear that?" he asks rhetorically. Tina sighs as if to say <<Do I ever?>>, but clings gamely to her friends shoulder as he starts heading towards the alley being watched from five stories above.
Barbara Gordon Currently unaware of the aspiring vigilante not far from the scene himself, Batgirl was focused on ticking off key members of the 13's. Satsified that all of the key leaders and seconds were finally present she decided to make her move. Taking hold of the edges of her cape, she leaned forward and fell off the roof to allow air to catch the cape and enable her to silently glide toward the gathering with ever increasing speed.

Eyes locked onto the larged figure of the group - the second in command - it would be easy for anyone to assume he was simply fat. The truth is, the man would have made a career of being a terror on the football field with the Gotham Knights. If only he'd not chosen to pursue crime instead. He was huge and strong. He was the one posing the greatest risk. The guns that would surely be pulled did not concern Batgirl so much. It was going toe to toe with a ganger easily three times her weight. She wanted him out of the fight first.

Nearing the group, now just above the dim pools of light illuminated by the gang's parking lights and a valiantly struggling street lamp, Batgirl pulled up and swing her armored boots forward to land with a concentrated impact against the huge man's jaw. She'd heared rumors in her research that he could have a glass jaw. It would help wouldn't it?

The impact made the large man's head snap away from the powerful kick and staggered him. Yet he did not go down.

Landing in a crouch, Batgirl observed this and the surprise on the gathered gang member's faces fading as they reached for weapons.

"....damn."
Austin Dallas Which is when Austin rounds the corner. He blinks at the tablau in front of him, and then says "so is this the meeting of the Horticulturilists society of America? Because I really need help. my Potted petunia just won't bloom and.." He's on the outside of the group, letting his nonsense words serve as a momentary distraction as he grabs the gun arm of one of the thugs, twists it, hyperextends the elbow a second before smashing his knee into the youth's gut. Tina for her part jumps away. She's the brains of the operation... and the beauty if you ask her opinion. Austin is the brawn.
Barbara Gordon Batgirl hears the chatter and, like the near-human CPU her brain has been compared to many times, she was already memorizing and cross checking that voice with any other vigilantes or heroes known to run the roofs at night in Gotham even occasionally. At the same time, she followed through on her first attack, seeking to sweep the huge guy's legs out from under him while he was off balance. It was like trying to kick a telephone pole. Time for a new plan - considering he pulled out an equally huge knife and turned toward her with an angry glare on his features, "...ucking bitc...." he slurred. Then a cough. And he leaned over to spit three teeth out along with a bit of blood, " ...ew knock m' teef ou..!"

Rising up to his full almost-seven-feet-tall height, Batgirl looked up at him. "Sorry. At least you're just as understandable as before? That's something" she goaded him.
Austin Dallas Austin Dallas not normally one for witty banter, drops the lines once the figth starts. With the man's gun arm disabled he spins in with a back fist smashing the side of the thugs head and dropping him. He ducks under the sweep on another knife, delivering a sharp uppercut into his solar plexus and sending him to the ground. Tina, for her part, bounces and chirps like the worlds cutest cheerleader... until one of the brutes draws too close... then she pepper sprays him in the eyes before sticking her tounge out at him. Perfectly corigraphed chaos reigning. And Austin grinning like a fool as he tries to get behind the one harassing Batgirl.
Barbara Gordon The huge guy is not the only one going after Batgirl, now. The leader of the 13's has pulled a small SMG out and begins to fire it at her.

Not without her own tricks, the redheaded Bat drops to the ground, pulling her cape around her. The bullets strike her but the cape stops them from penetrating and her composite armor softens the impact. It still tries to knock the wind out of her, but she has trained and prepared for moments like this. And yet, as the gunfire ends, she is grabbed from behind by the huge guy in a bear hug that threatens to break most of her ribs at best.

A grimace crossing her features as she grabs for her utility belt, her feet are lifted off the chipped pavement as the guy growls, "Gonn' rip ya 'n haff!"
Austin Dallas "Gonn' rip ya 'n haff! GLURK!" the massive mountain of malevolent meat says as he squeezes Batgirl... and then suddenly find's himself captured. Austin having wrapped one crooked arm around the beast's defense's throat. In less then a second he's wraped his other arm behind the man's neck, as though crossing his arms with the second-in-comand's neck pinned between them. He then tries to fall onto his own back, pulling himself... the thug... and likely Babs all to the ground as he moves to wrap his own legs around the thugs waist. A bear hug of his own of sorts, though one delivered with his legs rather then arms, and in combination with the rear naked choke...
Barbara Gordon Batgirl blinks as the guy gets choked. It causes his grip on her to ease a little. Enough. A batarang in hand, she mercilessly brings it down on the back of his wrist. He howls in pain and lets go of her to try and get himself free.

The leader has reloaded his gun, in the mean time, but Batgirl is ahead of him. The batarang flies on target, knocking the weapon away. Then she turns to the now prone big guy who is rather pinning to her would-be partner. "Didn't your mama tell you it's rude to grab a girl?" An armored fist smashes into his temple and he goes slack. Essentially dead weight atop Austin. Ooops.

Trusting he can get himself free from under 350lbs of unmoving gang guy, she turns to take down the leader, blocking a punch and moving under it to strike his stomach then kick his feet from under him. Now, in a series of fluid choreographed motions, she took him out followed by unleashing a trio of batarangs at the other leadership of the gang who were all caught in a mix of wanting to take out a Bat and wanting to desperately be anywhere else than here.
Austin Dallas Austin Dallas grins a little bit and with a but of grunting is able to wriggle and dislodge the big guy from on top of him. He rolls smoothly to his feet in time to watch Batgirl destroy the rest of the gang who weren't smart enough to realize that eight on two in no way implyed that they "had the advantage." He rolls his neck watching the other's fall and says "Now, that is what I call a work out..." before leaning over to catch his breath. Tina scrambles down from her perch, kicks the fallen mountain in the side with all the force of a toddler, then scrambles back up again. Satisfied she helped.
Barbara Gordon As the lackeys all fled in the confusion, only to leave the leadership of the 13's now high and dry, Batgirl walked calmly over to begin tie-strapping their wrists behind their backs. A side glance toward Austin, "Thanks for the distraction. It would have been harder to get him to let go." It's curt but appreciative. In the end she would have gotten away. His help did assist. "You're doing something very dangerous you realize." Those green eyes size up the man and his, uh, monkey. "Even with her, this isn't a game. If he'd aimed at you, you'd be dead. You realize that, right?" she asked firmly, nodding toward the leader who had shot at her. Her movements from one to the next are swift. She tosses a bundle of tie wraps to Austin however. "It'll be faster if you help. Behind the back. Tight. Their hands may go numb but it won't harm them." Much.

Working along through the body count, she touched the side of her cowl, "Oracle. Contact GCDP. 13's gang leadership detained in the Admin lot of the old 13th Street DiDio Middle School." Standing up, she turned to watch Austin as he secured the last of the gang members.
Austin Dallas Austin Dallas nods and catches the bundle of tie wraps and begins fastening wrists behind backs. "Someone has to do it, and you guys can't be everywhere." He says with a bit of a shrug. Binding wrists tightly, the little ratchets making it clear he has no problem making their hands numb. "Huge fan by the way... just saying.." He adds with the blush of someone meeting a celebrity crush of sorts. Tina for her part waves at Batgirl and smiles that happy Monkey smile. He nods solomly to her question about knowing he'd be dead if the main guy had shot at him. "I wouldn't have taken that many on... not by myself, not with that many guns, if you hadn't been there. But they weren't going to shoot at /me/ when there was a Bat already in the game." He shrugs a bit adding, "to steal a famous line from a friend of yours, 'I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid."
Barbara Gordon Batgirl listens and watches. "Perhaps." She was already calculating the time before GCDP showed up for trash collection.

"Do you have a name? Not... your name." she clarified. Codename. Moniker. Childhood nickname everyone will know. She dropped down beside the leader and picks up his smart phone. Attaching a small device to its port, she proceeded to download its contents in what seems like an absurdly short amount of time. Tech.
Austin Dallas Austin Dallas actually blushes slightly. Yeah he's got a crush. Probibly had that "Batgirl" poster on his wall not that many years ago... if he still doesn't. "Uhh.. Sentinel... I've kinda been toying with the name Sentinel." He says with a goofy smile... at least till Tina slaps the back of his head to knock the goofy grin off his face. He glares at the monkey for just a second then asks, rather lamely but eagerly "Umm any chance I could get your autograph.
Barbara Gordon Batigrl rises again, "Sentinel." She seems to ponder it. "Well, Sentinel? I thank you for your help. Unwise as it may have been. I would also suggest you find anywhere other than here to be in the next ninety seconds as GCPD will be closing in shortly thereafter." She turns, drawing out her grapple gun but pauses, "Oh. And Sentinel? I'm not Batman. You really don't want Him to meet you out here. He's... not a People-Person when it comes to new guys showing up in Gotham."

The grappel is fired off, uncoiling a thin cable behind it. About the time Sentinel could begin a reply, Batgirl is already lifted off the ground, her cape flowing out to catch the air and propel her higher into the night sky and away from the scene.

Really, all of the Bats are antisocial when it comes to sharing the city. It must be something in the water.
Austin Dallas Austin Dallas tilts his head as he hears the approaching sirins about twenty seconds before they should be audible but nods. "Yeah, about ninety seconds.." he agrees and holds out his arm for Tina to latch onto and scramble up, running quickly into the night and away from where it is the actual job of people to arrest bad guys . They are most of the way back to his apartment before he slows grinning at Tina. "Did you see that? I got to meet Batgirl." He says with a grin. tina slaps the back of his head again.
