Warpath There are so many things Jimmy is good at. Making food that is more than sustenance isn't one of them. He is able to roast meat and roast vegetables, but otherwise things get pretty questionable. That said he's in the kitchen, roasting a large piece of beef and preparing a few carrots and potatoes. Simple it is. Salt, pepper, and garlic. Nothing flashy, but good to smell none the less.
Shannon      Sometimes, simple was the best way to go. When one had good ingredients, nothing more was needed than a little salt, pepper, and a touch of garlic. It filled the kitchen with a heavenly aroma that just couldn't be beat by anything else.

     Or could it?

Dressed in light blue jeans, a plain white t-shirt, and her floofy Old English Sheepdog slippers, Shannon slips into the kitchen, tying her hair up in a bun at the back of her head to keep it out of the way. Off to one side on the counter, near the warmth of the stove, is a large glass bowl with a towel over the top, that is filled with what looks like rising dough--enough to start pushing the towel upwards. "Shik'isn, that smells absolutely divine!" she calls out, grinning. She heads on over to the double oven, setting the temperature for bread, her wings tucked in neatly behind her. "If we time it right, bread should come out of the oven around the same time as your dinner does."
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn may be good at some things but cooking was never her strong suit. Still there are usually lots of goodies to raid in the fridge so she makes her way that way, hungry (starving really) and in need of a good Err...Snack after a big lunch (shush you!). "Mmmmm is that bread I smell? Oooooh.." she's practically floating in now, nose twitching..
Warpath Getting the vegetables ready, Jimmy nods when Shannon comments,"Your timing is pretty close shik'isn." he agrees and opens up long enough to put the vegetables in with the roast. Closing it again, he watches to make sure the heat goes back how he wants.

He glances towards the arrival of Megan and replies,"Good evening Megan." He leans against the counter and checks the time on the clock to monitor the vegetables. Settling down he moves his eyes between the two,"It looks like you have arrived in time to have some of the roast if you are patient enough to wait for it to finish."
Shannon      Shannon chuckles as she scoops up the bowl of dough from where it was resting by the stove, moving it to the central counter island, along with a canister of flour, and a greased baking sheet. Flour is sprinkled on the counter, the dough turned out, and divided into three equal sections. "No bread yet, Megan, but if I time this right, we ought to have a nice loaf of my Scarborough Faire bread just in time to go with supper." Each section of dough is stretched out into a rope, and the three sections braided together, to be plopped onto the baking sheet, and slid into the oven.

"You know," she continues. "I was just talking with Herr Wagner last evening, and I was asking if he'd be willing to show me how to cook some things from his home. It sort of mushroomed into the idea that it could be expanded into this thing where everyone who wants to can plan a menu for their chosen night, with foods they grew up with. Dunno, what do you two think of the idea?"
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn smiles to James as she steps in, "Hiii Mr Warp--Er..James!" it's weird to call people by their first names when most of her team mates are older than her. But. "How's it going, wrong on dinner? Ooh, roast too? Can I help?" she looks between the two of them.
Warpath "It does sound interesting, not sure I would want to step to that challenge in the fact that I only cook for me and those foolish enough to try what I am cooking." Jimmy comments to Shannon,"It's a good idea over all though. A chance to learn about each other in ways that otherwise wouldn't be considered."

He nods to Megan when she calls him by name this time,"My part is in the cooking now, but it will need to be cut carefully and precisely if you want to learn how to do that. Otherwise good company or maybe Shannon has something in mind." Simple is best and he does simple really well.
Shannon      "Probably the best thing you could do is just keep an eye on that timer, Megan, while I get this all cleaned up... that'd be one less thing for me to worry about." Shannon smiles, offering the pink-haired pixie girl a hug--with a dusting of flour on the back from her hands!

She giggles, hearing her fumble a bit on Warpath's name, offering a sympathetic smile. "It's kind of surreal, isn't it, when you're so used to being formal with people you've seen as teachers, and then it's shifting into something like friends and colleagues instead. Remember when we went to the nevernever, and I fouled up not using Mr. Summers' call sign when I should have because we were out in the field? It just felt so strange. Still does a little, but I'm getting used to it."

Thumbing over at Warpath as she's washing dishes, she grins. "That one, though, is always shik'isn, unless I absolutely have to be formal. I suspect he's still adding onto his list of names for me."
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn pouts a bit. "Awwwe okay..lBut one of these days I'm gonna learn to bake a cake! Or something.." she yawns and stretches as she keeps an eye on said timer. "Yeah, sure is..I mean, I'm supposed to be an Xman but I'm way younger than the others, and I'm not close friends with any of them. I Kinda hoped my powers could have been out to better use too, but I gues I'm not the leader, not a student really anymore and bit a teacher..l dunno.." she bites her lip and pouts.
Warpath "Trouble Magnet. Disaster Sister. She who can find the worst no matter how hard she tries to avoid it." Jimmy comments with a snort when Shannon mentions him having several names for him. Of course the other is what he actaully tends to call her, but it isn't often people see leveity in him, so this should be a surprise for Megan at least.

He considers Megan's words for a moment before he continues,"If you're part of the team, you're part of the team. Getting to be a part of any team takes time. Being the youngest makes your positions similar to an Omega wolf, but eventually even Omegas rise in time. Lone Omega wolves travel and eventually being their own packs as the Alpha. Don't let things bother you. Every teacher is a student first and a real teacher learns more by teaching than being taught. Leadership varies. It depends on the situation. The best commanders know when someone else is better suited and let them. Otherwise they don't care about their team. You just have to find your way like anyone else."
Shannon      "Oh, 'Disaster Sister' is a new one," Shannon quips, chortling softly to herself. She'd sometimes witnessed levity in the imposing warrior, but indeed, this might be a surprise for some. As he talks to Megan, she listens, giving his words some consideration, thinking of her own situation. "If she's an Omega wolf, what would you call the one they sometimes include who isn't even really -quite- part of the team? At least not formally? Where does -that- wolf fit in? Besides being grateful to be included sometimes."
Warpath "Just thought of that one." he replies to Shannon with a smirk and checks the light on the food in the oven. After that he stands again and replies,"Right now technically you aren't part of that pack. Your pack is the New Mutants and I am not around them enough to judge where you are in that pack." he replies,"For the most part packs keep to themselves, but it isn't unheard of that other members might cross paths, just not common."
Shannon      "That pack actually hasn't been... very active," Shannon replies, pursing her lips somewhat. "I keep training on my own, but I actually don't see other members of the pack much if at all. Ted's one of the only ones I still see much of. I'd like to think the other members of the pack will be back, but I've seen a lot come and go in my time here, so..." She shrugs a little, plopping down on a stool at the counter and giving a little flick of her wings. "I'm not sure where Jer considers himself at the moment, especially since it turns out we didn't become... involved... after all. I still consider him a friend and damn proud to, but I'm kind of giving him a little room to work through things in his head for a while."

Crossing her arms on the counter, she rests her chin atop them, and lets out a sigh. "I'm not sure if there's much of a pack at the moment, so I guess I'm the extra wolf who would do equally as well in either one."
Warpath "Like I said. Sometimes the omega wanders the lone wolf and starts a pack of their own, adapting to the role of alpha. We'll just have to see what happens in your journey." he comments and leans down to look into the oven again. He nods and takes the roaster out of the oven, not really bothered by the heat of the metal. Some people really should use pot holders just for the sake of the squemish.

He takes some real butter and uses it to glaze the raosted vegetables and then leaves the food to rest for a few minutes,"New Mutants is an experiment in its own way. Do the ones coming up have the knack to be a team and protect the world as it were or do they just need to know how to control their powers for their safety and those around them. Ultimately it is the trying ground for the X teams."
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau comes into the kitchen, the easy confidence he always wears firmly on his lips. He watches the larger man put butter on the vegies, staying back so as not to get in his way before heading for the fridge to make a sandwich. "Do 'ope Ah'm not interrupting anyt'ing?" he asks curiously, layering various meats and cheeses as well as tomatoes and lettuce until he has constructed a monstrosity roughly the size of his head.
Shannon      "There was one time on a field trip, when there were a few more of us on the New Mutants, we did work well together. Ted did pretty well on that trip, too. Dr. McCoy had stepped out and left us eating in a diner for a few minutes, and wouldn't you know, trouble found us. There was a bank robbery in progress, and not a one of us said no." Shannon cracked a small smile, chuckling. "We did pretty well, and somehow didn't wind up on the evening news."

With Warpath pulling the roast out of the oven, the other aroma that seemed prevalent in the kitchen was freshly baked bread. For her own part, she -does- get a hold of some pot holders, pulling the baking sheet out of the oven and sliding the braided loaf of bread onto a cooling rack. Pan meets sink, pot holders meet counter, and as she turns to say something to Warpath, unless Remy is particularly quick, he is likely to get a faceful of wing! "Merde! Sorry about that... you okay?"
Warpath "Eveything in its season." Jimmy comments and leaves that go. Not much left to add. He smirks at the mention of her getting into trouble, nothing new there. Trouble seems to seek her out. His attention moves towards Gamit and he nods to him,"Remy. No interruption. The beef just finished roasting and I am about to slice some of you want to add it to your sandwich. Might not go well with everything else being cold though."
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau grins just a bit, "Nah, jus' lookin' foh a light snack." He says playfully as though the Dagwood he created wasn't a meal in and of itself. He is quick, of course, with reflexes like a cat, so he manages to duck the flying wings and not get feathers either in his face or in the mayo. He nods to Warpath, adding, "If yah take a poo' Cajun boy's advice 'owever, yah let dat sit a good ten minutes foh cutting it. Ot'erwise it dry out on yah."
Shannon      "Good point. Let the juices settle back into the roast." Shannon dabs at the corners of her mouth, giggling as she eyes the pan that's just come out of the oven--to the tune of some very unladylike growling in her general vicinity. "That smells so good, though, it's going to be hard to wait."

Only then, does she get an eyeful of the sandwich to end all sandwiches that Remy has created--that monstrously huge creation known as a Dagwood. Her pale blue eyes go wide, and she bursts out laughing. "Merde... do you have a black hole somewhere in your belly, to be able to put all -that- away?"
Warpath "I don't cook a great deal so I am alwasy willing to hear suggestions." Jimmy replies to Remy,"The only way to learn right?" He smirks a little inspite of himself when he sees the sandwich Remy is about to destroy. He shakes his head and checks the time again,"My friend I think you have your night filled. That will take a long time to get through."
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn had slipped off to chat with her boyfriend in some corner of the kitchen, which involved some giggling and missy noises as she finally said goodbye. But hey, the night is young and she's still hungry. "Moop! Where were we?Oh right..Uhh..Disaster sister, omega wolf member. Oh heeey Mr Remy, Jer..How's it going?"
Remy LeBeau Remy LeBeau grins slightly as he nods to the fact he has more or less created sandwich-stien. "Mah power requires me to put energy out inta mah cards. Dat energy gottta come from somewhere non? Not all of us get de whole solar powered t'ing like Scott." he says... though he does at least use a fork to try and tackle the monstrosity he created.
Warpath Looking at the time, Jimmy pushes away from the counter and goes to get the carving knife. A flash of light against the blade and he moves to the meat. He places the meat on a cutting board and starts to carefully, clearly practiced slicing movements. The meat slices easy and very thin,"You should have plenty of energy if you get through that." Jimmy muses as he cuts.
Shannon      Shannon opens her mouth to try and say hello to Jeremy, but shuts it again as he goes right past her, to the fridge, gets a few cheese sticks and... leaves. Her mouth just hangs open for a few moments, before she's finally able to close it again, shaking her head with a heavy sigh. Rubbing her temples slowly, she turns to get the bread from where it's been cooling on the rack. It's at that delightful 'sweet spot', pleasantly warm and steaming when cut or broken open, but not hot enough to burn fingers or tongue. "Add this to it, too, and it's one heck of a meal. Good roast meat and veggies, and some bread to soak up the juices."
Megan Gwynn Megan Gwynn sniffs the air, mouth watering as she smells that bread....Mmmm..."Heeey! Is it ready now? need help in eating it?"noh, she may have passed Jeremy in the hall but she was distracted, Soo.."Oooo veggies and meat too?Yes please!"
