Sunny Somewheresville, CA
Holland Cove Beach
11:02am

Sunny had heard good things about Holland Cove Beach from her friend Pembrooke Solomon, who was much better travelled than Sunny because her parents had divorced and they took Pemmy on trips to make up for it. So, when she found herself driving down the highway and was nearby Somewheresville, she decided to check out the beach, there, and see if Pem was right about the sand being softer and the water clearer than the beach back home. So, pulling her rental car--a cherry red Cadillac--into a parking space, she gathers up her woven bag, which has her snacks and drinks in it, along with a crossword puzzle book, a beach towel, and a handheld fan. She pushes her shades up on her nose and scoops her hair up on top of her head in a floofy, loose bun, and steps out of the convertible, her white flip flops slapping against the soles of her feet as she walks down toward the beach.

Smiling at all of the people she sees, she can tell today is gonna be a /good/ day. They're almost all good days, of course, but today had a sort of vibe to it. Something special was gonna happen. She was gonna meet someone awesome, probably. She smiles at the people who look her way as she flip-flops past, looking for a good spot to set up her blanket for a bit of a sun-soak before contemplating getting in the water. Now... It must be said that things start looking...better...where Sunny walks. People seem to perk up. Sunburns disappear, melanomas shrink and fade... All sorts of things happen in a broad area around her, visible and invisible, that heals, renews, and regenerates any living thing nearby. Finding a spot, she sets her bag down and flips her towel out, getting it to lie just right before she settles down on it, stretching out and using her bag for a makeshift pillow. "Ahhhhhhhh, what a /great/ day, huh?" she asks of no one in particular, her voice bright and warm.
Alexa     It was the car that did it. Alejandra scans the parking lot with wide, intensely green eyes, letting her gaze take in all the minutiae of the spectrum of colours that is on display. She's allowing herself to follow the light, tracing the swirls of blue, green, and orange to her mind seem to alight upon the whistling of a passing California breeze. It is, however, a cherry red cadillac that finally captures the brunette's attention.

Alexa is wearing a scoop necked white one piece that hugs her form without being exceptionally revealing. Sweat gleams on bronze skin, a sure sign that she's been out for hours. She is clutching a small canvas duffel bag in her right hand. Inside of it is kept her towel, a small meal, and a few other odds and ends most people would think nothing of. A blue scarf, a pink swirled shell. All things that are only important to the Spaniard who is just now making her way through the parking lot toward the beach. She purses her lips briefly while considering the vehicle and tilts her head

The trail leads to Sunny. Alejandra is immediately greeted with a smile and returns it with an effusive grin of her own, nodding as she is stepping closer. "You're right. It's going to be a fabulous day!" Alexa answers without being addressed, her Spanish accent poking through as she laughs quietly. "You seem more aware of that than most of the people here. Are you celebrating something?"
Sunny     Sunny, stretched out in her light, white cotton sundress and sunshades, her legs crossed at the ankles as she cups the back of her neck with her hands. At the arrival of the brunette woman, Sunny offers her a bright smile, gesturing toward the space next to her as an invitation to the pretty Spaniard to settle her load there.

The young woman-- and, she does look to be in her late teens, maybe her very early twenties-- has quite a glowing look to her skin, the sun's reflection, perhaps, shining off of her more than on others, somehow. And, at the positive response to her comment, she beams even brighter with a megawatt smile at Alejandra. "I'm celebrating life. All day, all night, every day," she says with sincerity and warmth, somehow evoking the essence of someone much older, perhaps timeless, and knowing more than someone of her years can possibly comprehend. "How about you?" she asks, lifting her light brown brows in curiosity.
Alexa     Alexa looks young as well. It is impossible to be sure but a discerning eye would proably place hte woman into her early twenties. Old enough to have grown into herself and young enough to still have the flush of youth that seems to draw people to the beach like moths to the flame. She doesn't glow quite as brightly as Sunny, though the sheen of perspiration on her skin helps to burnish naturally taned skin to a lustre that is noticeable at close quarters.

Alexa nods in response to the invitation, bending down to unzip her bag and then unfurling a beach blanket out beside Sunny before settling down onto it. She stretches out her limbs and leans back, back arching slightly as she stares up at the sun overhead. Alejandra's smile doesn't dim when Sunny responds. Instead she nods her head slowly, taking a deep breath. "That is the plan. Sometimes I lose my way. But today... I think I'm off to a wonderful start." Her smile brightens slightly with those words, pink lips pursing lightly as jade eyes move to settle firmly onto Sunny's features.

Alexa takes a deep breath and holds it for a second, brows gently furrowed while she studies the woman in front of her. "My name is Alejandra. Usually people call me Alexa, here." She shifts her weight slightly on the blanket, twisting so that she can properly face Sunny as she speaks. "You positively glowing. I'm a litle bit jealous. Do you really think you can celebrate every moment of your life...?"
Sunny     Sunny grins at the reply, nodding her head. She lets the silence settle for a bit, so the both of them can enjoy the warmth of the sun pressing down on them from above. Then, as though she's let it mull in her mind, she speaks up, again, "We all lose our way, but it's really about the fact that we redirect, reassess, and get back on the right track. As long as we don't just give up." She glances upward at the sun through her shades, feeling contented. On her face, the smile she wears seems at home. To see this girl sad or angry...that would seem odd, somehow. "But, some people find my almost perpetual good mood to be really annoying," she admits with a crooked grin, slightly sheepish.

As Alejandra introduces herself, Sunny shifts onto her side to better face the young woman and she props her head up on one hand. The other, she offers to Alexa. "Hi, Alejandra! Or, Alexa, if you prefer. I'm Sunny, and it's a pleasure to meet you," she grins, shaking the woman's hand should she accept the proffered hand. "I'm not from around here, but I'd heard some great things about this beach. Since I was in the area-- I'm kinda exploring my way across the country, right now-- I thought I'd stop by and visit it," she says, shifting until she's completely comfortable, her knees crooked slightly, her sundress shifting gently with the breeze that sweeps through. If Alexa had been feeling tired, or bad in any way, she's probably feeling much better, now. Any bruises, cuts, or even acne(!) would have cleared up long before now. And, the longer she stays around Sunny, the better she'll feel, until she's in peak condition and can't possibly /be/ any healthier!
Alexa     Alexa is a radiant beaco nof health in her own right. Though it doesn't bleed over to her surroundings the way Sunny seems to impactthe world around her Alejandra's form is flawless in that effortless way that even good genese would have difficulty offering. There aren't even scars for the healing glow to address. She did, however, have a hint of a sunburn creeping up and that disappears in a mere instant of being close. "Annoying? Sometimes people say the same thing about me." Alexa smiles back beatifically, though she doesn't allow any shame to cross her features. "I think you're lovely," she sates sincerely, blinking once as she does.

Now that both women are on their sides Alejandra studies Sunny's features intently. She shakes the offered hand warmly and without hesitation before moving to prop herself up from the blanket slightly. "I love to go swimming. To be honest, though. I just followed my feet... And the breeze. For some reason it kept telling me there was something to see." Soft -spoken words are punctuated with sharp consonants,r endering every word laden with meaning while Alexa's expression hardly shifts.

"So far it seems to be living up to the promise. is that your cadillac out in the parking lot?" Alejandra shifts slightly then, the breeze catching her brunette tresses so that they flutter against her shoulders.
Sunny     At the compliment from Alexa, Sunny smiles brightly. "Aww, thanks! I wasn't fishing for a compliment or anything, but I appreciate you saying so," she says with a lighthearted voice, drawing her hand back as Alexa releases it from the shaking. She shifts back onto her back, folding her bag back into some sort of makeshift head rest and looking out at the ocean.

"You know, I frickin' love swimming, too! I mean, if I could live in the water, I probably would," she says dreamily. "My mom and dad used to joke that I'm a mermaid, because they had a really hard time convincing me to come out of the pool. ...I was gonna say they /used/ to have a hard time, but that hasn't really changed," she grins crookedly, dimples popping up in her cheeks. "So, yeah, totally. Mermaid," she says nodding her head decisively. Of course, Sunny /can/ grow gills and webbed hands and feet, if she's in the water long enough... But, she doesn't share that. Most people freak out when they notice that kinda stuff!

At the question, Sunny lifts her head and cranes it back in the direction of the parking lot, resting her weight on one elbow as she does, then rolling back onto her back. "Ah, yeah! That's a lease, mind. But, I figured, if I'm gonna explore the country, I might as well do it in style," she grins. "Y'know, like all those girl-power movies from the way back when, where the girls go off on their own and have adventures? Like that," she laughs, glancing at Alexa for a moment.
Alexa     "I should have rented a cadillac for my jaunt across the world," Alexa responds, nodding. Her own grin is a little straighter, a little more quietly intimate than utterly unrestrained, but just as genuine. "Unfortunately I could not find one which would guarantee it was seaworthy all the way across the Atlantic as part of the one hundred thousand mile guarantee."

Alexa shrugs her shoulders delicately, following every word Sunny says with a quiet, sincere attentiveness. She studies the woman's face, down to her dimples when those begin to show. A deep breath is taken as she gives a slow nod. "Anyway, there is one thing we have in common. We both love to swim. I'm no mermaid but I've been mistaknen for one once or twice..." A nod is offer at this and then Alexa tosses her head to throw brunette tresses free of her face.

"I was going to ask you if you could show me around the beach but it sounds you'd be just as lost as I am," Alexa muses, laughing softly. "But would you wander up toward the shoals with me anyway? After we finish talking, of course."
Sunny     Sunny smiles a bit and nods, "I'm a little spoiled, I guess. My parents set up a trust fund for me for when I turned eighteen, so I could do pretty much whatever I wanted to do. I waited a year or so, though, before I figured out what I wanted to do," she shares, folding her hands comfortably on top of her tummy. Rocking her feet back and forth gently, she continues, "I thought about college, but... I'm not sure what I'd want to do. I mean, I want to be a healer, but..." she trails off. Now, she's not sure how to tell the truth. She /already/ heals people. She doesn't have to even try, generally. She can cure things that even the advanced modern medicine of today can't cure. She can regrow limbs, she can cure blindness, deafness, and genetic defects... She heals things everywhere she goes! Anything that lives benefits from her presence, and that's why going to school would just be a waste of her parents' hard-earned money.

"Well, I decided to go exploring, instead," she finally settles on saying. "Until something else captures my attention, I suppose," she laughs, realizing how that must sound. "As for walking, absolutely! I really wanna swim, too, so we can do that, too," she grins, pushing herself up into a sitting position. "Think it's safe to leave our stuff while we go walking?" she asks, peering around. "I mean, I don't really have much worth taking. Food, some water, a fan, crossword puzzle book.. Nothing fancy. But..." she stands on top of her towel, digging in her bag for her water bottle.
Alexa     "Well, if there's not much worth taking then we might as well forget about it until we've returned." Alex opens her bag and, for no explicable reason, withdraws the long blue scarf she's kept there. This is tucked around the woman's neck before she straightens and draws a slow, deep breath. This swimsuit isn't overly risque but it wasn't chosen for its modesty. it hugs her curves nicely, the scooped neck making it clear that Alexa isn't shy about being looked at. Then again, this is a one piece.

"Anyway... Sounds good. If we follow the beach we can probably find a post that is a little less crowded," Alejandra notes, glancing down the beach as she does. "More room to swim around. And we have hours of sun. I'm sure our things will be fine." Alejandra adjusts the blanke and then frowns faintly. She traces her fingers through the sand then and takes a deep breath, nodding firmly. Just once. She seems to have signed her name in the sand. For some reason.

Now the brunette climbs to her feet and offers Sunny a hand, eyes twinkling as an impish smile flits across her lips. "I wasn't rich growing up but I have all I need and more now," she states earnestly. "Sometimes I teach... SOmetimes I heal people, like you do." A beat. "Or- something similar. Maybe less so." If Sunny takes Alexa's hand the brunette will lead the way down the beach without releasing it. It would, however, be effortless to pull away.
Sunny     Sunny nods, unable to fault the logic. Sure, it'd suck if someone stole her stuff, but hopefully they won't. Since it doesn't bother her to walk on hot sand, and she's planning on swimming, she leaves her flip flops on her towel, slides off her shades, and slips out of her sundress, revealing the fact that she's wearing a two piece swimsuit in pastel pink, yellow, and white swirls, her ample figure giving her a softer appearance than girls who have visibly toned muscles. She doesn't appear to feel self-conscious about her body, either, despite the fact that she's probably been teased about it, in the past.

"I'm gonna be really grumpy if someone steals my clothes and stuff, though," she says. And, thinking better of it, she gathers her things and crams them into the woven bag, muttering to herself. "If they did steal them, I'd only have myself to blame, though, huh?" she laughs, sliding the handles of the bag onto her arm and accepting Alexa's hand after she's gotten her stuff together.

If she finds it awkward to walk around holding hands with a nice person she just met, it doesn't show. She holds Alexa's hand for a while, only breaking contact to tuck errant strands of her hair behind her ear. She doesn't reach for Alexa's hand, again, but if Alexa reaches for her, she will resume holding hands. It's not as though she doesn't want to, but that it doesn't occur to her to do it unless prompted. "How is it that you know I heal people?" she asks, finally realizing that she didn't actually tell the young woman that she heals people! Poor Sunny. Quite oblivious to so many things! She's not dumb, /per se/, but she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. "I mean..." she says, not sure of whether or not she should reveal that she recognizes that there's more to Alexa than meets the eye.
Alexa     "You can leave your bag. I promise things will be fine. "Alexa waits patiently while the other woman gathers her stuff, however, and only then does she lead the way down the beach. The ground beneath their feet is becoming rocky as they move further down the beach from the rest of the swimmers and begin to round the bank so that their steps carry them out of sight. Alexa is lighter than sunny but she does have a biit of body fat on her frame, enough to hide her muscles save for the definition in her legs. It's unlikely anyone's teased her, however. Not unless she used to be a bit heavier.

Alejandra lets Sunny's hand slip away and doesn't make any indication she's noticed. She continues to pick their way along the coast as the beach turns gradually more sandy. It's not long before they are standing in an inlet, a beach large enough for four or five friends to go swimming and secluded away from the other beach goers. That means it is also free of refuse, footprints, and relatively quiet.

TIn the nearby water there is a small atoll dominating the view of the ocean. Alexa stops to look at this, turning and then clasping her hands behind her as she takes a deep breath, studying the small island with her brow gently furrowed. "Hmm. How do I know?" Leja cocks her head to the left, pursing her lips slightly.

"I can't look at you without being able to see how you glow. Everyon around you is healthier and happier when they walk away." Alexa rolls her shoulders delicately, still standing and staring out over the water. "You're so beautiful it's almost mindboggling."
Sunny     Sunny picks her way over the rocky surface in bare feet without any real issue. If she's experiencing pain or damage of any kind, it's so mild that it's gone before she can feel it. She walks along with Alexa, smiling at the beautiful sights, the feeling of the breeze, the scent of the ocean, and the sun keeping life going. As they reach the more private locale, Sunny pauses to look at seashells she sees while Alexa looks out over the horizon. Sunny giggles as she pokes a hermit crab's shell, making it scuttle away in a huff. Then, she straightens and walks up behind and to the side of Alexa, listening to her explain.

Sunny flushes at the compliment, unsure of how to reply, because she's not used to hearing such things. It's not like no one's ever called her pretty, or that she's not confident in her attractiveness... But, she's never heard it so boldly stated. "I... Thank you, Alejandra," she says in a surprised voice. "You're very beautiful, too. And, I think your accent is fantastic. I could listen to you talk all day," she smiles. "And," she says, hesitating a little before continuing, "I can't deny anything you've said. I do have a talent that allows me to heal people. It's something that I've always had, to some degree. It's kinda...always on. I can direct it, if I want, and it's stronger and faster... But, it's just kinda...always on. And, there are side-effects that are weird and impossible to explain to people. But, that's beside the point."

She is quiet for a moment before she confesses, "And, I can tell you're different. Not like most other people, I mean. I don't know what you are, or what you can do, but you're more than human," she says, stepping forward a half-step, peering at Alexa's profile. "But, you don't hafta talk about it, if you don't wanna," she adds. "I just wanted to be honest with you. 'Cause you're being honest with me, I think," she says, sounding only a little confused, but still smiling, if Alexa looks in her direction.
Alexa     Alejandra looks back at Sunny then and offers her another of those quiet smiles she uses. "I wasn't trying to flatter you. I just mean-I can see it. The glow around you. The colour of your... Spirit, I guess." She tkaes a deep breath inward then and holds it for a long moment, shifting her weight slightly as she does so. Once the woman finally exhales she truns on a heel to properly face her companion. Alejandra's foot starts to settle on a shell but she thinks better of it and shifts her ankle to the right so that hse is standing propelly in the sand.
The brunette is soon crouching down to pick the shell up rom the beach. It's an iridescent thing, glimmering in blue, greens, whites, and pinks with no rhyme or reason needed save that the light catches it at a certain angle and the colours shift without quite fading. "Thank you. For the compliments..." There's a self-satisfied tinge to that smile now. Green eyes study Sunny's face. Alejandr'as voice is soft but smooth, a sweet, melodic mezzo soprano that tickles the ears and beckons one to pay clsoe attention to make it out- and in so doing forces people to truly cosnider her words. The voice of a storyteller. Or a singer.

"I'm almost like you. I can heal people to some extent. But not to the same degree. When I call out that power it drains my strength. Miraculous things come at a cost. But you... Wear it. Strength. Purpose. Like a golden corona that follows in your foot steps." Now Alexa is lightly pursing her lips, studying the young demigoddess in front of her.

"I hear in colour. A little bit of light in every thing. I know some magic as well," Alejandra admits then. "Or a lot of it. Our things, for instance, are being guarded by a small ward that will ensure no one thinks to take anything." Soon enough Alexa is only a couple meters away, just outside of what would typically be seen as personal space.
"I apologize if I'm being too forward. I usually say what's on my mind and right now..." Alexa shrugs slowly. "There seems to be a lot to say. I wish to be hones with you as well."
Sunny     Sunny listens to Alexa speak, explaining-- in her own way-- what her gifts are, after a fashion. Though she really doesn't follow what Alejandra says (again, not the brightest bulb), she picks up the fact that she knows magic. Which is /way/ cool. Sunny's vibrant hazel eyes open wide and she just stares in awe. "Wow. That is *so* amazing, Alejandra! Magic! Like, real magic!" she says enthusiastically. "That's just..." she shakes her head with a look of wonder on her face. As though curing cancer in people is boring, compared to magic! "Wow. That's so great," she repeats, again. "It must be nice to be flexible in what you can do. I mean, I'm grateful for my gift, but it's impossible to hide--especially in, like, winter, or fall, when there shouldn't be grass or flowers, for example," she tucks more unruly locks of golden brown wisps behind her ear. "I wouldn't have known you were gifted, if I'd been just a regular person," she says, scanning the sand for more seashells with her eyes.

Looking up, she shakes her head, "There's no need to apologize, at all! You're not being too forward, at all. Then again, this is coming from someone who's often tutted at for oversharing." She laughs, shrugging her shoulders gently, "It's who I am. What'm I gonna do, y'know?" Then, she begins wading into the surf, not very far out. She gasps and laughs, "It feels so cool after being in the sun for so long." She sinks to her knees, still in the shallows, and wades her hands through the water, looking for more shells beneath the water. "Where do you think you're headed?" she asks. "Because, I mean, I have no set destination in mind for myself. I figure I'll just visit famous places and see what they're like," she says, squinting up at Alexa with a smile.
Alexa     "To be honest I hadn't decided either," Alejandra repsonds, laughing softly as she walks toward the edge of the water, following almost in Sunny's footsteps as the girl proceeds past her. She stops at the edge of the water and curls her toes into the sand, watching as it swirls in front of her. "Really, when I wnat to go home I will probably cheat... So there isn't really any pressing reason to pick a spot. I was just waiting to see what I found that was worth pursuing."

Another smile follwos that pronoucnement and then the woman slowly proceeds forward into the water the rest of the way, step by step , until it is lapping just above her knees. "It really is. I was feeeling a little lethargic earlier. I'm wide awake now thought." With a soft laugh Alejandra starts further forward. The water reaches her thighs. Then her waist, and finally her chest.

"There's nothing wrong with oversharing. Apparently. Neither one of us seems to mind," Alejandra declares as she begins to float, bobbing in the water. "And I'm versatile but you're..." She shakes her head slowly, frowning. "You just are. You make everything around you better just by existing. Anyway! Enough dwelling on all of that before I embarrass myself." Indeed, the Spanish woman's cheeks are colouring a rosy hue.

"It feels warmer if you come further out," Alexa offers then. "And I love flowers all the time. Forgive me if I'm just a little bit jealous of that... THough actually I sometimes have the same problem."
