Kit Killovarras There are things you shouldn't do in certain places in the world and a good deed done in the dark of night? Probably falls into that sort of category in this neighborhood.

A group of thugs, maybe 6 or 7 strong and some of them armed with bats or knives, have a slender individual in jeans and a hoodie pinned to the wall in the subway station. "Tryin'na be some goodie two-shoes to those freaks?" one of them chides, "Bet he's one of em. Prolly came back down here to try'n crawl back into the sewers!"

The individual is guarding his face, hoodie drawn up and head tipped down as far as he can, softly muttering, "Guys, you don't want to do this.. Please, just leave me alone.."
John Stewart For the last couple days, John has been just... exploring Earth. The changes are numerous, yet familiar. He's been all over the place, but has just come to New York tonight and has just been walking around.

Dressed in casual black and sunglasses, the bald black man who was waiting for the train uptown glances in Kit's direction. The various passerbys and unusual nightgoers wanting nothing to do with the unfolding violence.

Turning away from the side, John has his hands in his jacket pockets as he walks over to the group slowly. In a low, almost menacing tone. "What's the problem here?" John asks... almost a demand to it.
Kit Killovarras A pair of the punks turn around, baseball bats in hand ready to greet the 'idiot' who dared to interfere, one of them looking him over, scoffing and giving a, "Mind your own business." The one pinning the individual to the wall keeps taunting him, getting louder and louder about the 'freak-lover' until one of his buddies laughs and muses, "Just cut'em already. I bet he bleeds green."

All the while, the individual is still guarding his appearance, hands in his sleeves, gripping them closed, arms covering his face, still murmuring, "Seriously guys.. Please, don't make me do this.."
John Stewart "I'm making it my business."

Suddenly, there's a glowing green shimmer over John, and a Green Lantern uniform materializes out of nothing; literally. It just replaces his clothing, and his eyes take on a bright green glow. Then, his right hand comes out and green energy shoots from it, a constructed shield materializing in place between Kit and the thugs.

"Care to tell me mind my own business again, fools?" John asks, mockingly.
Kit Killovarras That's literally all it takes, the two with the baseball bats are already bolting, yelling "Fuck! Lantern!" which causes the rest of them to try and book it too!

The individual stays against the wall for a moment, his face still covered for a moment before he lets himself slide down it to the ground, letting his arms drop from in front of his hood but without looking up. "Thank you..." he says after a few moments and a few heavy breaths to compose himself. "Really didn't feel like hearing people screaming tonight."

Even with his hood down and covering a majority of his head at this angle, it's possible to see what looks remarkably like the tip of a canine muzzle hidden beneath it.
John Stewart When they run, John watches where they go, and simply follows along. With the threat to Kit gone and him seemingly not in need of emergency transport, John floats alongside the group of thugs, his ring points directly in front of the largest group and a wall materializes. Then, it sweeps backwards as he tries to push them back and onto their asses.
Kit Killovarras A little over half of thethugs went one way with the rest going the other and while the floating green man sweeps up the bigger group of them? One of the other thugs who isn't being bowled over right now, turns around and pulls a gun!

Something moves within the individual at the wall's hood when this happens, when the safety clicks off he snaps to his feet and leaps between the shooter and the Green Lantern, his arms crossing in front of him. Several clear gunshots rings out and the sound of energy crackling can be heard as some sort of energy shield forms in front of the hooded thing, then there's an incredibly loud, snarling roar when the shield falls, releasing the bullets to clink against the ground.

Queue most of the civilians panicking at the sound of gunshots, then panicking worse when the hood slips off the individual, revealing some kind of canine creature with glowing violet eyes.
John Stewart Energy shoots out from the Power Ring (the wall disppears), and a band of flexible green energy wraps around the thugs, wrapping them like a hair tie would to a ponytail. The group of thugs is carried alongside himself as he starts to fly over towards the second group, "That wasn't necessary, but thanks. If you'd like to help me collect the others, I'd appreciate the support." John tells Kit.

Whatever he is... he was a victim that came to his aid, despite everything. There's a respect in his voice for the mutant.
Kit Killovarras It's not every day that you make the mistake of attacking someone who isn't entirely human, nor is it every day you get caught by the green lantern! The gunner just stands there, wide-eyed and shaking, gun still in hand whole the others with him continue to run.

"Gladly." the creature snarls, taking off after the others at a full sprint, long legs carrying him far faster than most people would think. As he passes, a garbage can lifts in his wake and flies at the gunner, slamming into him and knocking the gun from his hand. The other runners are about to hit the stairs when the creature skids to a stop just thirty feet from them, his arm swinging in a wide ark. His claws suddenly crackle to life with that same violet energy and four blades of energy fly, carved into existence by his swing to cut into the remaining thugs. It wouldn't be a lethal blow, it likely wouldn't even leave too nasty a scar, but it's enough to drop them.
John Stewart So, he doesn't even need to fire any stunning blasts. Teamwork is always nice. Nonetheless, that band of energy briefly breaks as other smaller bands start to rope the thugs into it briefly coming into existence and disappearing just as quickly as their job is done.

Within a few seconds, all the thugs have been collected and pulled into a gigantic green energy band construct. It's a bit snug in there, but nothing that will threaten their health.

"I'm gonna leave these fools for the police. Are you the sort who doesn't stick around?" John asks of Kit as he floats next to the mutant, his ring aimed in front of himself as it maintains the construct just upward, in a casual sort of demeanor. Those glowing green eyes full of Power Ring energy have a focus to them, though Kit can't see the eyes themselves at this point. "I can give my statement and drop them off myself." John offers.
Kit Killovarras Kit just chuckles a bit, panting quietly as he gives John a glance, his eyes fading from violet to their typical red and gold mismatch as he explains, "Last time I stuck around, the cops shot at me thinking I was the problem. Kinda happens when you look like I do.", flattening his ears back and to the sides a bit as he pulls his hood up over them. "Thanks for the help by the way. If you hadn't been here I'd probably be stitching myself back up right now."
John Stewart His other hand -the left hand- reaches out for a handshake. "John Stewart. The new Green Lantern for this sector. You'll be seeing me around, buddy. Do you come to the aid of strangers often?"

The thugs, try as they might, can't get out. One tries to 'slip' down in the middle, but a plaform materializes under him, stopping that idea.
Kit Killovarras Kit takes the hand with a paw, giving it a shake as he muses, "Kit Killovarras and I mean, if I have to, yeah." he kinda chuckles a little, giving a glance to the thugs as they try to struggle free and fail. "I just don't like seeing people get hurt. If I can do something to stop it, I will."
John Stewart "Having seen you jump into it, I'd love to give you some trials, see what you can do, if you'd be interested in joining the Justice League." John explains, "You've got a heroic heart, and that's rare enough without abilities."
Kit Killovarras Theres a moment of shock, then Kit laughs a bit, a thin smile coming across his maw. "People see me and usually think I'm some kind of monster, so I doubt people would ever accept me as some kind of hero." Theres a thoughtful pause, then he gives a nod and adds, "But I'll think about it. As for the trials? Sounds fun."
John Stewart "Reputation helps." John refutes gently. "Green Lanterns have a galactic reputation as caretakers of the universe. We keep order when chaos threatens to overwhelm, and we have the resources of the Corps behind us." He starts to float up the stairs, slow enough that Kit can just walk beside him, "Got an address or a place I can meet you?" John asks.
Kit Killovarras Kit keeps his hands in his pockets as he walks with John and when he's asked about an address? He rattles off a longitude and latitude that, if looked up, would put someone along the Nile river about thirty miles north of the border between Egypt and Sudan. Then he gives him a glance and gives a little grin as he adds, "But lately? No. Haven't really had a place to stay since I got off the boat. Got a few offers lately though, so we'll see."
John Stewart "I'll come find you later." John agrees. "For now, radios tell me the police will be here in around a minute. I'd get out of here if you want to remain a victim that got away. You have my word that you 'left the scene while I was busy with the thugs'." If air qoutes were a thing he could do, he'd be doing them by his tone.

Indeed, the two are just coming up on the surface now.
Kit Killovarras Kit gives a little nod, taking a moments look around before he says, "Don't have to tell me twice." giving one final nod to John before adding, "See ya 'round." before simply walking off towards a nearby alleyway, giving a final wave over his shoulder before he just sort of disappears into the darkness.
