John Stewart It's been years since this sector has had a dedicated Green Lantern with experience. Jessica is still learning and mentors have not been out this way for a while... but John has been making the rounds, getting back in touch with Earth even as he starts new patrol routes.

Today, the Legion cruiser is on the list, and the cruisers sensors pick up a humanoid sized object traveling at extremely high speed from the edge of Sol right for the ship.... and stop instantly a respectable distance away.

Then, for the first time in years, the cruisers comm array gets a hailing signal from a Green Lantern ring. There's a member of the Green Lantern Corps out there, wanting to talk.
Mon-El     Lar was on the bridge when the signal came through. Huh, a Green Lantern, was it Jessica? He hasn't heard from her in a while. But this IFF code didn't quite look like hers. He patches the Lantern through. "Lar Gand aboard the Legion cruiser, state your business." he greets in a formal yet polite tone.
John Stewart The signal adjusts, and a voice comes through. "This is John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps. I'm looking to talk to one of your reps, if someone has a moment."
Mon-El     John Stewart, huh? That was one he hadn't met before. "Permission granted, proceed to airlock A1." Lar responds, and enters the authorization for him to come aboard.
John Stewart The Green Lantern visibly flies to the airlock, enters, and enters the sequence to start the cycling.

A few moments later, and a black, bald man steps out of it, the green field around him disappearing as he enters atmosphere, but the green, glowing eyes have a gentle 'drift' of energy from them... and unlike most Green Lanterns, he wears no mask; just a marine corp modified Latern uniform.

He brings his hands behind his back and waits in a military posture for Lar to greet him. He doesn't want to push his welcome, after all.
Mon-El     Lar turns to the airlock as it hisses open and the man steps through and stands at attention, finding the military posture a bit odd. Although it is a nice show of respect. He approaches John and extends a hand for a shake.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Stewart." he says, smiling cordially. "Former military, I take it?"
John Stewart "US Marine Corps." John affirms, before bringing the right hand around and shaking Lar's hand firmly. Lar can clearly see the Power Ring on his finger. "I'm the new primary for the sector. The others are rather busy with galactic events, and the Guardians have decided I'm worthy of taking up the sector as a Green Lantern now." He smiles, "I thought I'd check in with one of the few groups in-system capable of backing me up, if the Corps isn't fast enough."

He starts to look around, with a curious tone, "Lar Gand?" He looks back to Lar, "I studied the dossiers on my way over."
Mon-El     "Sure, fair enough." Lar nods, also giving his hand a firm shake. "Unfortunately many of our members are currently busy in other areas of the galaxy, but I'm here for now." he frowns slightly. "More recently I've been helping Peter Quill's group with some of the recent Brood attacks. There was a significant incursion near the edge of Shi'ar territory a few weeks back."
John Stewart "I've heard about that. The Shi'ar don't like Green Lanterns in their territory, so I only know rumors, though." John shrugs slightly, "We help maintain universal stability, but Imperials don't tend to like us buttin into their affairs." John smirks, "Their Imperial Guard tend to do the work for them, but I've never met any of them personally." John takes on a curious tone, then. "What sort of ship is this? I didn't scan it out of respect."
Mon-El     "Heh, Quill doesn't like you either." Lar remarks. "But I have been hearing rumors of unusual levels of Brood aggression in different sectors, so this issue might be more widespsread than initially thought. Might need to do some more recon to ascertain the true nature of the situation."

As for John's question, he shrugs slightly. "If I told you, I doubt you would know what any of it meant, since it was constructed during the early third millenium, approximately 1,000 Earth years from now."
John Stewart "I wish you luck with it. If it leaves Shi'ar territory, some of the others might be able to help out... or me, if you can find a reason for me to leave my sector temporarily." John offers, seriously. Then, he looks back to Lar, "I've been dealing with galactic affairs for almost a decade now, Lar. I've dealt with plenty of ships, Do you have a classification for it, at least, or is this just a transport?"
Mon-El     "Oh, I don't doubt your knowledge of the galactic community or of galactic affairs, please don't take that as an offense. It's just that a thousand years is quite a long time." Lar replies. "A lot of things...changed. But yes, it is a cruiser-class transport. With...modifications." A lot of them. "That tends to happen when Brainiac has his way with things."
John Stewart "Future knowledge. I've never been much interested in the time traveling stuff myself. Too much can go wrong with that sort of thing, and we have enough problems in our day and age, let alone figuring out something years later." John agrees, "Brainiac... the Kryptonian one?" He asks.
Mon-El     Lar arches a brow at John. "Ah, no...Brainiacs have always been Coluan. At least, the ones I knew were."

He sits back down in front of the comms array. "So, tell me more about yourself, Stewart. You're a former American Marine, chosen by the Lantern Corps to patrol the Sol System. You ever...question the Guardians' appointment?"
