Ivory The museum of natural history history has a nice egyptian collection. And quite some of those items there are depicting Bast. Which is what at times draws Ivory there to try and take some inspiration from them. So now they sit on a bench right under a large statue of a sitting cat, glancing up, a sketchbook on their lap, a pencil in their left.
Yondu Udonta Museums are full of interesting things. Knick knacks. Expensive knick knacks. Or valuable ones. It's the valuable ones that might well have drawn some people here. Not everyone has noble intentions, after all. Creative ones, sure. But not necessarily noble. The fact that there's a tall blue-skinned man with a red fin atop of and seemingly attached to his head is likely one that manages to get around the museum patrons, in the form of whispers and glances and other such things. He is not of this world, but this world holds some interest to him. Yondu hasn't been within the museum for very long, and it's his first time being here. Curiosity is a mighty powerful thing.
Mon-El     Lar sometimes comes here in his spare time to get a little more of a visual or hands-on experience with studying this particular version of Earth from the perspective of the 2nd millenium. It's always good to know the times and places you find yourself in, after all. Oddly enough, even though he himself was born here, he sometimes finds it a bit unfamiliar, especially on a planet that isn't home. Though, he does blend in here a bit better than Yondu over there, since he is wearing civilian clothing today.

He walks past an exhibit full of rocks, one of them being the kryptonite rock he once tried to steal a few years ago and would have succeeded if Bombshell hadn't intervened, glancing at it momentarily and shaking the memory off because it's not exactly the most pleasant one. Of course, by now the damage from that 'little' incident has been repaired and it's as if nothing ever happened.

Eventually he wanders over to the ancient Egypt exhibits, examining the statue of Bast.
Ivory Ivory turns the head down to make a few strokes with the pencil, then looks up to the people a few moments, smiling a little at the sight of some rather unusual ones. One hand they brush through their hair done up in a ponytail, easing it a little on either side of the central head, and a few moments later a pair of cat ears flip free, showing their fluffyness to peoplen around.
Yondu Udonta There isn't much mind that Yondu pays to the reactions that others have to him. He doesn't fit in, and that's fine by him. It's a thing that he's fairly used to. He takes a moment to glance around the people who mill from display to display, but it would seem that none of them particularly hold his interest. There's a soft grunt that comes from him as he steps into the Egyptian area to take an initial look around. "Cats," he says quietly, a bit under his breath. His steps take him towards one of the displays that explains about the cats being worshipped, and he gives a small shake of his head. "'tire civ'lization devoted ta worshippin' cats," he adds, not seeming to be speaking to anyone in particular. Perhaps talking to himself, perhaps simply thinking aloud. He looks up at a tapestry that shows a scene of such worship, and then he glances aside towards the one who sits and draws. That perks a bit of curiosity, though he doesn't voice it -- instead, he simply watches that one.
Mon-El     "It would appear that they worshipped many different types of wildlife native to this planet." Lar responds as Yondu seems to be doing some sort of commentary on the exhibit. "A common practice among many ancient or primordial civilizations throughout the galaxy. I guess it makes sense, they lived off of the land, which meant their very existence depended on it."

The ears appearing on Ivory's head don't really surprise Lar or cause him to stare or anything, since he has seen plenty of different mutants, metas, and aliens in the present, past, and future and in different sectors of space. "I take it you're not from around here, either." he remarks to Yondu.
Ivory "Teeechnically, they didn't worhip all cats. That cat country would be Wakanda. They also worshiped eagle people and jackal-guys and even a cow-woman." Ivory notes, pointing to the exhibits with Ra, Anubis and Hathor respectively. "See? They were totally anciet furries. Like, most of their gods were furs, or undead."
Yondu Udonta There's a soft grunt at the words from the man near to him, and Yondu turns his head to look to the fellow. Then he gives a nod. "Seems ta be a thin'. Plenty-a years ago, by th' dates," he comments. He doesn't seem to have anything against the practice. It's just one of those things that falls ito the category of being a curious thing for him. "I reckon cats're 'bout as good as an'thin' else ta be worshippin'," he offers, his tone thoughtful. He glances aside towards the statue of the sitting cat named Bast, and then his attention shifts back to the fellow.

One of his eyebrows quirks up, and he gives a brief chuckle before giving a nod. "Ye figure righ'ly. Aint' from here 'bouts. Curious place, fulla curious things," he says, giving a nod. Then his attention turns towards the artist, listening to the information that's shared, his red gaze turning towards the other figures that were indicated. "Animal gods. Can't quite 'magine worshippin' zombies."
Mon-El     Lar nods at Ivory's observation. "As I thought." he responds. "Undead, huh?" He takes note of the use of the term 'furries' to refer to something that has fur. "That does seem a bit more unusual than animals or other nature elements."

He turns back to Yondu. "Yes, Earth is a very diverse place, I've found. But if you're not from here, then where? Mister...?" he begins, waiting for the blue-skinned man to introduce himself.
Ivory Ivory chuckles as she points to an Osiris fresco. "That guy was ripped apart by his brother, then stitched back together by his sister but for his wiener. And then the two still had an eagle-headed son. So technically he's undead. And that birdhead over there? He wrote a book that was so dangerous they could't destroy it and had to have it encased in everything that was valuable and then cast into the nile."

"Ivory, and well, furry is a term for humanoid animals. Though, these are more antrhopomorph things..."
Yondu Udonta "Reckon it be that. Holdin' all manner of plants an' animals an' things as what're half an' half," Yondu says. His voice has a bit of gruffness to it, but nothing that seems to bother him or that he seems unfamiliar with. His gaze turns towards the fellow, considering the question. "Here an' there. 'riginally, Centauri IV. Name's Yondu Udonta," he offers, giving a nod.

His attention turns to Ivory, watching her, listening as she explains about Osiris, and he looks towards the display. And then he just slowly shakes his head. "Well now, tha' jus' sure as hell ain't a right thing ta do ta a gent," he says. His attention shifts from the display back to Ivory, and he gives a nod to her. "Good to meet you, Ivory."
Mon-El     "Sounds about right for ancient mythology." Lar chuckles at the story. "It's good to meet you, Ivory." he says with a nod. "And you too, Mr. Udonta. You do seem the type to have been around the galaxy. So what are you doing here on Earth?" he asks, just making for some casual conversation.
Ivory "Nice to meet you, Yondu. And you?" he asks to Mon-El, wearing boy shoes today. "But anyway, Egypt was a funny place, don't you think? Worshipping these half animals and inbetween Bastet and Sekhmet, who were full cats at times. Though... These statues here are just what we know of them. Nobody knows how they did what they did."

"Sounds like either of you is an Alien in the stellar way, hm?"
Mon-El     "Lar Gand." Lar says, offering a hand to shake for whoever wants to do so. He nods at the Egypt comment. "Yes, they were certainly advanced, at least in comparison to the rest of the planet at that time."

"Yes, I'm from Daxam, sector 2813." he says in answer to the question about being alien. "It was good meeting both of you, but for now there are some other things I have to attend to. Hope we'll meet again sometime." he says with a smile, and heads for the exit.
Yondu Udonta There's a nod to the fellow, in response to the question. He's been to a lot of different corners of the universe. For a lot of different reasons. "Y'ain't wrong," he says, about his travels. "Oh, I'm jus' learnin' an' explorin'. Figured this was a good place ta do th' former," he says, glancing around the museum briefly. As the introduction is made, he reaches out a hand to shake the one that's offered. "Good to meet ye, Mr. Gand. Paths have a way o' crossin' sometimes. Take care," he offers.

His attention shifts to Ivory then, and he gives a nod. "Centauri IV is a ways off from here. I wonder how much truth there is, inna mythology," he says, looking towards the displays before his gaze returns to the artist. "I reckon I don't know 'nough 'bout it ta say if it was or not."
Ivory Ivory took the hand for a short handshale. Not the most firm one, but a short one. "Nice to meet you too, Lar Gand from Daxam in sector 2813." He smiles as the guy leaves though, offering a small wave after them.

"Well, one can learn a few things in museums. Not everything, but it can be a start. Especially about how people see themselves and others. Or rather want to be seen. Think about... that one over there. That's how the egyptians liked to depict people. The best side of the body they possibly thought: face from the front, body from the side."
Yondu Udonta There's a glance cast towards the fellow who left, but Yondu brings his attention easily back to Ivory. He gives a soft grunt, and then he nods. "Reckon so. Museums seems interestin' places. Sorta like steppin' back in time with th' way it's all set up," he says. He steps a bit closer to Ivory, perhaps attempting to take a gander at the artwork in progress. He looks over towards the display that Ivory indicated, looking it over with curiosity. "I wonder wha' 'bout it made it th' best ta them," he says, a thoughtful note coming to his voice.
Ivory Ivory chuckles a moment, getting up with the sketchpad in hand, offerig it for a better look. An immitation of the cat looming over his seating spot, but in a totally different style. More modern and naturalistic. And decidedly attempting for cuteness. A larger cat looming over a white persian kitten like a guardian.

"What do you think? Did I capture the posture and feel of her? Because I sure hope so. Want to make a printrun with these old cats, and I think this might make a good part."
Yondu Udonta As the sketchpad is offered, he doesn't take it in hand, but he does look over the drawing that's upon the page. He glances towards the cat statue, then back to the drawing, and he gives a nod. "Looks more natural than th' statue. Cuter... but if'n anyone asks, I'll deny I said that part. I think it looks good," Yondu says, smiling at Ivory. "Th' statue's more stern, but it don't have th' feel o' belongin' ta th' one you drew," he adds, considering the differences between the two. "D'ye mean like posters an' th' like?"
Ivory "T-shirts and jackets and such. Kind of a thing of my label. Androgyn clothing and kittens." Ivory offers with a smile. "I meant the statue kind of as a protector for the little one. Kind of catching the elegance of the guardian and give it a modern interpretation - and something to guard. Something people relate to."

The pad is turned back and a little extra sketch added, just a little doodle. A cat with an iroquis? Or is that a Yondu-Kitten? The latter. "What do you say to that?" he asks, turning the pad to point at the small thing, merely a two or three inches tall.
Yondu Udonta There's a soft sound of surprise from the blue fellow, and then he gives a nod. "Well, mebbe I'll have ta get th' crew some shirts," he says with a bit of a grin. He looks over the drawing again, and then he gives a nod to the artist. "It has th' look of a guardian, a protector. An' I think nigh e'eryone can relate to protectin' somethin' cute an' fuzzy," Yondu says.

He watches with a bit of curiosity then as the artist sketches the little doodle. And when it's shown to him, he gives a soft chuckle, and lifts a hand to pat the cat-eared fellow on the back. "Well now, I'd have ta say it's cute. Ain't ne'er imagined a kitten th' likes o' it. If'n you let me buy it from you, an' you sign it, I'll put it with my treasures," he says, sounding like he means it.
Ivory "Waitamoment, you wan that doodle in the corner? Uh, I could totally make that a proper picture, but that's just a tiny doodle that would need to be cleaned up and all. Though, does USPS deliver to Centauri? I think you said you're from Centauri IV or something, didn't you?"

Somehow Yondu managed what few do: cause a little flush on the cheeks of the cat designer.
Yondu Udonta Yondu Udonta gives a nod to the cat designer, a smile quirking his lips. "Mmhmm, I do," he affirms. "Ah, well... there ain't much of a postal service there. S'where I'm from, but it ain't where I live. How 'bout this... you make it a proper picture, an' you keep a hold of it, keep it safe an' all. Next time I come ta Earth, I'll find you an' pick it up an' pay you fer it. Sound fair?" he asks, curious. He's fairly flexible as far as the arrangements go -- there are certain benefits to be had when one is the Captain of a spaceship.
