Kit Killovarras It's a quiet day, just a little after two and out in the front yard it's rather quiet. Off to one side of the massive yard, somewhere among the trees, Kit can be found, enjoying the warmth of the day. He's wearing his typical jeans, but there's no hoodie and no tank top. Instead, there's a bandage wrap around his chest and left shoulder. The tight wrap isn't meant to stop bleeding, but rather to apply pressure to various muscles.

Around him are dozens of small objects, from a marble or two, to knives and spoons and even a couple books, all levitating around him, spinning at different speeds.
Shannon      Spider-Man had his 'spidey sense'. Mothers and teachers everywhere seemed to have eyes in the back of their head at times. One winged resident of the mansion had a healer's sense, in spades. Shannon was in black shorts and a tank top with gold edging, and black sneakers, with her hair pinned up in a bun at the back of her head. In her hands was a collapsible metal bo staff, which she is, at the moment, getting some training with.

But the moment she glances over to see Kit with objects levitating around him, and a bandage wrap? She flicks her thumb across the staff, which collapses down to a metal rod a bit shorter than her forearm in her hand. She moves a little closer to Kit, evaluating his movements with a critical eye, looking for any sign of pain or injury.
Kit Killovarras There is an occasional wince from the Aardwolf, though it's minor. Otherwise, he isn't moving. He has his eyes closed and his ears laid out to the sides a little, trying to relax with what he's doing. There is no blood on the bandages, no outward signs of injury, but something is indeed causing him discomfort.

A close inspection would reveal that, even if he looks relaxed, every muscle visible through his fur is tensed. After a moment, his eyes open and he tilts his head to one side, one ear perking up as he takes note of Shannon, then offers a smile and a simple, "Hello."
Shannon      Shannon smiles and settles down nearby, to watch Kit practice. Sitting down cross-legged, her hands rest atop her knees, her wings tucked in neatly behind her, out of the way. Her forehead glistens from the exertion of her own training. "Hello," she replies. "I had no idea you were telekinetic. The gifts of everyone I've seen since coming here, it never ceases to amaze me."
Kit Killovarras Kit gives a little sigh, each of the items settling back to the ground as he explains, "It's a small part of what I can do, but the problem is I can't control any of it all that well." with a little bit of a chuckle, his body visibly relaxing once the last object is set down. "My family kept telling me that it'd get easier, but just lifting a few things at a time still feels like I'm pulling myself apart."

Theres a moment of thought, then Kit's ears perk up a little as he asks, "What's it like to fly, by the way?" He gives a little smile before he adds, "Sorry, but I've always wondered what it would be like."
Shannon      "Wish I knew what to tell you there, but the best I can do is maybe talk to miss Grey about training your telekinesis. She'd have more insight than I would." Shannon smiles lightly, unfurling her wings behind her somewhat and running her fingers through her feathers to preen them. Thankfully, none come loose, and they even look a bit better for the attention, laying smoothly in place once more.

"Oh heavens. You have no idea how many times I've been asked that question, and it's never any easier to describe. It's like trying to describe the sun to someone who's never been able to open their eyes." Closing her eyes, she tries to think this through, murring softly in the back of her throat as she sifts through memories, in a bid to find the right words. "Have you ever had one of those dreams where you could leap out your window, and your feet never touch the ground? You could just spread your arms open wide and go anywhere you wanted with just a thought. It's that sense of freedom, of joy, that comes closest to how I can describe what it's like to fly."

Her smile widens as her eyes open, looking right at Kit. "A year or so ago, I clipped a body cam to myself and flew around Central park for a while, to try and show my mom and dad what it's like for me to fly. If you want, I could dig that video up and show it to you sometime."
Kit Killovarras There's an awkward little chuckle that comes from Kit when Shannon mentions she gets asked that a lot and a simple, "Sorry, I figured it wouldn't be easy to explain, but I still had to ask." Then she mentions the video and his ears perk up a little as he nods. "If you could, I'd love to see it."

When Jean is mentioned, Kit gives a little shrug and a nod, "Here's hoping, but honestly? I worry that people here won't understand it." His tail shifts a little, swaying across the grass as he explains, "Half the time I don't even know how to explain it myself. My power comes from somewhere else and I know that, I just sort of redirect it. It's something everyone in my family could do to some degree."
Shannon      Shannon nods, with some measure of understanding, canting her head slightly to one side as she regards Kit. "I guess I can understand that to some degree. My healing, I don't know if it comes from inside myself, or from somewhere else outside. Though I'm guessing it's probably from inside. But could I fully explain how I heal someone? No. Especially not now that my gifts seem to be... shifting, somewhat." Her smile widens, and she continues. "I'm not sure that my gift is fully understood yet, either, but I do know Dr. McCoy's been wonderful about doing his best to figure things out. I can tell you right now, even if folks here don't understand your gift, they will do their damnedest to try."

Motioning to the bandages he wears, her voice turns a little bit soft. "I saw the way you were moving. It was almost as if you bruised yourself and were trying not to aggravate an injury. What happened?"
Kit Killovarras Kit chuckles a little and nods. "The fun part is, I know where my power comes from, but half the time I've tried explaining it, I get treated like I'm crazy." he says with a grin, then he sighs and adds, "Even if I hadn't been born like this, I'd still be able to use it." Shannon mentions her abilities 'shifting' and he tilts his head ever so slightly. "Shifting how?" he asks curiously.

Then she brings up his bandages and Kit just looks down at them for a moment before giving another sigh, "Like I said, using my magic feels like I'm pulling myself apart. Even using it just a little can stress my body to the point that I get sore. Having to use it in a fight? Even if I win, I usually wind up with a couple torn muscles afterwards."

And yes, that was in a sense an admission that he'd been in a fight and after realizing how he'd said it, there's a visible twitch of his tail.
Shannon      "Shifting, in a sense that... well, maybe I'd better take this one from the top." Shannon replies, chuckling lightly. "See, starting out, I'm what you'd call an 'empathic healer'. My gifts, up until recently, have had me take on the injuries of others as my own, to leave them whole." She takes a moment to let this sink in, with all its implications. After a few moments, she continues. "Working with Dr. McCoy, though, we've been moving my gifts away from that, so I can encourage others' wounds to heal at twice their normal rate, instead of taking them on myself. It's still a little dicey, but it's been improving."

Nothing is mentioned about being in a fight, with only a brief flick of her brows and a nod of understanding. There was little doubt that she, too, had seen some action in her time at the school. "Did you want me to attempt to heal that up a bit for you?"
Kit Killovarras Kit studies Shannon for a moment when she offers to heal him, then gives a little shrug and smiles. "It's just a few pulled muscles, but if you want to, feel free." he says. "Plus, probably better to practice on a few pulled muscles than to have to practice on worse wounds."
Shannon      "Oh, I've handled worse wounds, as an empathic healer. Some of the tales I could tell...." Shannon just shakes her head slightly and smiles, inching a little bit closer. "This won't hurt you at all. If anything, it should feel like the injured area's just been given a nice, warm, relaxing bath, or been wrapped up in a cozy quilt."

With that, she reaches out to rest her hands over the bandaged area and closes her eyes, taking a few moments to breathe and center herself. Her brows furrow for a second as she begins to reach out with her healing gift to assess the injury; it seems to take her a moment, but finally she gets a sense of what needs to be done. The injuries seemed to be relatively mild, but still, nobody should have to suffer unnecessarily.

As the healing began, and the gentle warmth radiates from her hands throughout Kit, she hisses softly, swearing under her breath and flinching slightly. NO. She could do this! The pressure from her hands, light as it is, lessens, as she takes a moment to re-focus herself, breathing and centering.

The second time she rests her hands over the bandages, there is a light sigh of relief, and a small smile, the warmth pouring through the injuries increasing just a bit as she encourages Kit's cells to do what Nature intended--just to accelerate the process a bit.

It's a matter of minutes, but soon enough, her hands come away, and she opens her eyes, smiling a bit. "There... how's that feel?"
Kit Killovarras Kit rolls the bandaged shoulder, then nods and looks to Shannon. "Better, though I'm guessing it didn't go quite as planned for you." he says, tilting his head slightly, letting one ear fold to the side and the other remain perked up. "I kinda wish what I did felt like that. It's hard to convince someone you're healing them when it feels like you're clawing at their wound."

Then he reaches back and drags his claws across the velcro 'hold' on his bandages, letting them loosen a bit as he gives a relieved sigh, then starts unwinding them and rolling them back up.
Shannon      "I'd still give that a good rest till morning, just to be safe. I did wind up partially taking on some of that injury, but also partially accelerating healing once I regained control." Shannon nods, and smiles somewhat, rolling her shoulder and only wincing slightly. "Believe me, it's not the worst that's happened to me. A good night's rest and some extra protein, and I should be alright."
Kit Killovarras After a moment or two, Kit sets the rolled up bandage down and looks to Shannon again, then gives a nod, "With a power like that, I've no doubt that you've suffered worse." Then he gets up and walks over to the tree - or more particularly, to where the bag is that he brought all these things out in - and pulls out a small box, about the size of a book. He walks back and sits back down where he was, setting the box down and opening it up to reveal a few turkish delights. "I promise, these ones don't have any termites in them." he says with a playful grin.

They are a pale blue with what looks like a single white flower petal suspended at the center of them.

"And trust me, I plan on relaxing for the next day or two.. I've been trying to make sense of everything that happened a couple days ago, hence the training, but I still can't really figure it out." Kit looks a bit confused as he says that, but he quickly just shrugs it off and adds, "Then again, sometimes there just isn't a reason. One minute you're wandering around town, the next you're staring at a tidal wave and an army of vampires."
Shannon      The mention of termites has the winged healer in training snickering softly. But she doesn't hesitate to reach for one of the Turkish delights, smiling and dipping her head. "Thanks. These look really good! What's that in the center of them? Looks like a flower petal, but what kind?" Nibbling on the sweet treat without any hesitation, she purrs with delight, thoroughly enjoying and savoring the rare sweet.

"Mhm. Oh trust me, I know the feeling. About a week after I first got here, a couple years ago, I was just nosing around Salem Center and just heading out of the music shop. Damn near mowed down Captain Rogers. And to top it all off, Mr. Stark wound up joining us about ten minutes later." She rolls her eyes and chuckles, shaking her head. "And there have been some pretty wild adventures since. 'Normal' is pretty much just a euphemism for 'boring' around here."
Kit Killovarras There's a laugh and a nod from Kit and he just sort of shrugs again when he muses, "Normal is anything but normal it seems. Ah well." Then he gives Shannon a glance, "Candied rose petals suspended in lychee flavored lokum." he says, explaining the candies. "Figured I'd give the recipe a try at some point."

As for the mention of Captain Rogers and Mr. Stark? Well, it doesn't help that Kit has absolutely no clue who those are. "Honestly, sometimes I miss when I could consider my life normal, but then again, most people would see something like my grandfather walking on water and think it's weird."
Shannon      "A lot of people, if they saw your grandfather walking on water, might think something else entirely," Shannon replied, chortling softly. She nibbles on the candy a bit, taking a moment to savor and appreciate the flavor, smiling. "Huh. Figured that might be a rose petal, but it was the flavor of the rest I couldn't quite figure out. I've never had anything tasting like lychee before."
Kit Killovarras "It was a bit weird the first time I saw him do it too, but when you live around people who can all tap into different dimensions, things like walking on water, things moving on their own or even people traveling by portal doesn't seem as strange." Kit says with a smile and a nod. "Guess it's just a matter of perspective." Then he closes his eyes for a moment, each of the items other than the box suddenly lifting up and start settling themselves into the bag before Kit stands up and stretches. "Sadly though, all of this training has worked up an appetite. Care to join me?" he asks as he goes to retrieve the bag.
Shannon      "Sounds good to me." Shannon gets up, too, and smiles, only wincing slightly as she moves. "I make a pretty mean mac 'n cheese, if you're up for that?" She chuckles softly as she watches Kit's belongings put themselves away like something out of the Sorceror's Apprentice. "So many gifts, and none of them ever cease to amaze me. I hope neither of us ever loses that sense of wonder."
