Owner Pose
Kit Killovarras Just as with any night, Kit can be found tonight lounging on the sun deck and staring up at the sky, his arms behind his head as he hums a quiet melody. The last few days had been interesting, between learning about psycho stalkers, meeting new people and making new people just about lose their shit laughing, there's still a weird little smile on the Aardwolfs face, though really this is nothing too terribly out of character.
Jax     It is, for the time of day, still quite warm. This deep into the Mediterranean, the temperature doesn't change much after the sun has gone down, and as the lights of the straits pass by on either beam, a warm land breeze blows in from both sides. The constant background sound of water rushing under the forefoot and bubbling along the hull until it spreads out into a wake aft of the transom is interrupted just slightly by the new sound of small wavelets breaking against the hull on both sides. On a winter day, this patch of sea might get quite rough, but in summer these conflicting breezes are no real danger to modern vessels.

There's no a sound on the stairs coming up from the upper deck, but suddenly there's Jax emerging, heading aft as if to join Kit. A can of San Pellegrino Pomelo is handed over as the cat mutant sits, cracking open his own can of pretentious grapefruit juice. "See I'm not the only one that's looking forward to the sight."
Kit Killovarras The sound of the can opening actually makes Kit jump ever so slightly, but he just gives a little chuckle and shrugs. "I always take the time to look up at them when I can." he says with a smile, then gives Jax a glance and tilts his head for a moment before turning his attention back to the sky.

"I wanted to apologize for how I acted on shore by the way..." he says after a few moments of silence. He glances back over to Jax for a moment after the initial comment, "Kinda got a bit carried away with picking on you, which wasn't exactly called for." he adds, his ears folding out to the sides ever so slightly for a moment. Then his attention turns back to the sky.

Go figure, the animal with zero people skills is apologizing for weird conduct.
Jax     There is an elaborate shrug, which is fairly expressive in a human sized cat whose shoulders are only nominally similar to a human's, and pretty much do their own thing without consulting his rib cage or clavicle overmuch. The open short-sleeved shirt rises with the gesture, and then settles back down as the physical response to the apology winds down. "Eh, don't worry about it. If nobody ever told me to pull in my ears, I'd be impossible to live with. That's what friends are for, right?"

And judging by the sudden extinguishing of one of the blue glows that are his eyes in this kind of darkness, he probably winked at that.

"Besides, I brought that on myself. And Grandpa Charles can get on people's nerves. We got that in common."

A sudden, eerie red glow becomes visible on the horizon to the west.
Kit Killovarras There's a little laugh and a smirk from Kit as he muses, "Oh, it wasn't just your grand dad stressing me out." he says with a little shrug. "Though for some reason, he triggered an old habit my family drilled into my head." He sits up after a moment and stretches, then looks back over to the feline with a tilt of his head. "You did make me floof though, so I sort of had to pay you back for that." There's a little pause from the Aardwolf, then a chuckle as he add, "Actually I'm rather glad I got to meet your grandparents."
Jax     As if the whole world is there for his entertainment and enjoyment, Jax leans back and drapes his left arm over the back of the sofa, grinning. "And I meant what I said, you look cute all floofed up. But I honestly forgot that might happen, sorry about that."

The glow intensifies on the horizon, until it begins to lighten the sky enough to hide some of the stars. It looks like the glow of a large fire, but the source of it is still obscured by the headland.

"Half of my grandparents anyway, my mother's side. My dad's side live on their farm in California. It's where I grew up, actually, first couple of years anyway."
Kit Killovarras This is when the red light gets Kit's attention, though for now it's not much more than a glance and his ears perked forward.

Then Jax says 'cute' in reference to him and the poor aardwolf winds up fluffed up again for a moment or two before he sort of slumps and turns his eyes to the cat. "Thaaaat's not helping..." he says, his smile fading ever so slightly before he looks back towards the red light. "But... Thank you." he says after a moment.

The mention of the other side of his family gets Kit to tilt his head ever so slightly and glance back to him, "California, huh? Heard it's an interesting place, to say the least."
Jax     "Some of it is, I s'pose." Jax allows, no longer pursuing the topic of cute... for now, at least. The glow continues to brighten, until finally the source can be seen... and it does look like the top of a mountain is on fire. The sight seems to get Jax excited, and he jumps up, running to the starboard railing and leaning over as far as he can... Just like an excited kid half his age. "Look!"

It's a strange view, with the lights of a town on the shore line under the harsh glow at the top of a mountain, and stark darkness in between. "Mount Etna! And it's active! Awesome!"
Kit Killovarras Even at a distance like this, the light from Etna causes Kit to squint a little, though he's staring at it all the same for a few moments before he gives a sigh. "I.. don't really do good with compliments, never have." he says after a few moments, chuckling a little bit, "But, for what it's worth.. I wasn't exactly joking either. It was actually kinda cute, seeing you panicked like that." Well that's a weird thing to say and he does eventually recognize it, giving a little wince at his own choice of words. "I mean.. It's not really something I tend to see of you too often."
Jax     "Aww, you mean you don't see me as cute most of the time?" And there it is, the exaggerated kitten eyes, the ears half tilted, the tail tucking up against his leg, the pathetic glance and soft whimper...

    All a sham, ob-viously.

Because a moment later he's back to his smiling self, and leaning against the railing, outlined now by the glow of Etna's caldera. "Honestly? I don't usually take things seriously enough to panic about anything. There's a couple of things that'll do it, but it really doesn't happen a lot." The cat mutant has two modes, it seems... so laid back that he's nearly horizontal, and utter frenetic tail-floofing stress. It's a Jax thing.
Shannon      Kit and Jax aren't the only ones out admiring the Mediterranean sunset. Just overhead, keeping pace with the boat like an overwatching angel, one might hear the soft beating of great, feathery wings in the air. And for a moment, it sounded as if whatever was making that noise, was drawing closer. But, when the words from Jax and Kit sort of float through the air, reaching the ears of whoever or whatever is following the boat, there's a light coughing sound, and someone turns tail to try and make a discreet exit.

But since when was it ever easy for Shannon to make herself scarce, in situations like this...?
Kit Killovarras Well it's a good thing that kit's physiology doesn't allow for certain things, like sweating, or blushing... He just stares at Jax for a moment when he does that whole, whimpery kitty look, his left eye twitching for a moment. He opens his mouth to say something, but it just sort of hangs open for a moment before it closes again and he chuckles quietly. "Not quite the word I'd use normally, no." he admits.

Then, someone coughs and the aardwolf's ears dart up, swiveling back a little as his fur, once again, goes up in a sudden 'floof!' "You're really bad at going unnoticed." Kit says just before cracking up a little, a little grin left afterwards that actually shows off the tips of his teeth. Then Kit gives Jax a little glance after a few moments, nodding slightly. "I've noticed." he says before fully turning his attention on poor Shannon, his eyes glowing a little in the darkness as he offers a smile. "Hell of a view, isn't it?" he says, motioning a thumb towards the volcano.
Jax     "You know you're probably showing up on a dozen ship radars right now, right?" Jax adds to that, his own eyes glowing in the dark as the light of the ship's navigation lights and the glow of Etna's caldera are reflected. All in all, these two would make ideal landing beacons, were someone inclined to swoop back down to the sun deck without getting tangled up in the radar mast.

And, of course, he can't help it, he has to whisper when he sees Kit's fur floof up again, in a volume inaudible to anyone neither cat nor dog. "Cute."
Shannon      Welp. So much for that! Busted, Shannon finally has to give in, gliding down to the sun deck and backwinging her way to a somewhat graceful landing nearby. She scratches the back of her head, just glancing between her two friends at the moment, and flashing them an awkward grin. "Sorry," she muttered. "It kinda looked like I was interrupting something... was I?"
Kit Killovarras Well so much for letting his fur go down! The fur on poor Kit's torso all but resembles the fluff of a husky for the moment and he just sort of eyes Jax for a moment, then gives Shannon a glance and a smile before he chuckles. "Sort of? But oh well.. No apologies needed." Then he stands up and slinks off, giving a simple, "One moment." as he walks off into a shower compartment and disappears for a few moments behind the sound of sudden spraying water! When he comes back out and flomps back down where he'd been sitting, he's soaked to a point where it's obvious he hasn't even attempted to dry off.

There's a sudden shudder of every muscle in his body and cold water goes FLYING in EVERY direction!

Then Jax gets shot another look and an evil little grin from the aardwolf before he addresses Shannon again with a warm smile. "Sorry if ya got caught in the crossfire there by the way." he says with a little laugh.
Jax     It's hard to interrupt Jax, given that he's rarely doing anything entirely by himself, and he seems to work on the maxim that more equals merrier, and merriment should be sought at all times. So, rather than looking any kind of flustered that Shannon was nearby, he heads to the bar area to dig around the drinks fridge up here to find another can of San Pellegrino, handing that over to his winged friend. "Naaaaaah. And besides, look! Etna!"

    Yeah, he's excited about that.

So excited, in fact, that he's ignoring the shower running, ignoring the wet footsteps on the deck, and ignoring the sudden feline instinct to take cover. The spray hits him just as he's in mid-lean on the railing, taking a sip from his drink.

Drip drip drip... half soaked now, his fur streaked down in odd places, he just continues the sip and acts as if nothing whatsoever has just happened, but the twitch of his tail implies that revenge may be had at some point in the unspecified future.
Shannon      Shannon's white linen and lace dress stands out like a beacon in the night, all but shining in what is left of the sun's glow. The lemon-flavored San Pelligrino is accepted, cracked open, and raised in a toast, with a few drops poured out in a libation over the side.

The sight of Mt. Aetna is an impressive and truly captivating one, especially active as it seems to be at the moment. Captivating enough to garner the focus of her attention as she sips the fizzy, tart beverage. "Wonder how close I could fly to the summit and get away with it...."

     3....

     2....

     1....

     SPLASH!

Somehow, the only part of Shannon that is -not- soaked by the deluge from Kit is her wings. The rest? Well... suffice it to say, someone looks like a drowned rat.
Kit Killovarras Observing his targets, both intended and non, Kit just suddenly busts up laughing and flomps back a little where he was originally lounging, an ever-present grin now on his maw. "Blame Jax for that one!" he says to Shannon through the laughter, "He was the intended target!"

The poor, soaked feline gets a look and a tongue playfully poked out from between the toothy grin. "I did warn you, I'd do more than just pick on ya didn't I?" he asks, tilting his head a little. The flick of the tail is not missed either and the grin simply remains. Welcome to the war of payback?
Jax     "So you did." Jax archly intones, quite unlike himself. He sounds... formal? Charles-like, even. "Well played, sir. Truly, a jape to be... remembered."

    Swish goes the tail!

He knows every last half inch of this yacht...
Shannon      "Indeed," Shannon intones, her brows flicking briefly. She doesn't even bother trying to wipe off her face, nor to wring out her hair. Only a flick of her wings, however dry they might be, gives much outward acknowledgement of Kit's hijinks.

But she glances at Jax, giving a barely perceptible nod, and an ever-so slight lift of her drink in his general direction.

Teamwork makes the dream work, after all.
Kit Killovarras Once he's regained himself and stops laughing, the still rather damp Aardwolf gives a little sigh and looks over at the two with that little grin of his still present. "Before you ask, it was worth whatever you two plan up." he says with a little tip of his head to the two, then gets up and starts back towards the stairs, adding, "By the way, you're cute when you're wet too." with a wink towards Jax as he passes by.
