Hannibal King It was early one evening when Hannibal King arrived at the Gotham Zoo. It was just dark enough that he could walk around without fear of turning into a matchstick, yet light enough that things were still relatively well let. He loved this time of day. The way the sun was still up, but blocked by the buildings, or the horizon.

Tonight, the zoo was putting on a show, as they had a number of nocturnal species visiting on a rotating exhibit. Many would say that he was dressed all in black, but he knew that his shirt was actually dark charcoal, his jeans were onyx, and his shoes were jet. Only his jacket was actually black.
Sarah Connor Sarah was here for different reasons: namely terminators. But so far it hasn't panned out. Which should be a good thing. Right?

Wrong.

Sure there didn't seem to be rumours. But she knew that there was an upturn in whispers, and the fact that she hadn't found anything new made her hairs on her neck go prickly. Especially the knowledge that she had lost two of the terminators body..

She was just about to pack it up for the evening, when she spied Hannibal. She nodded hello to him.
Hannibal King Seeing a familiar face, Hannibal made a bee line to Sarah, "well, hello there," he began, before adding, "suddenly, I'm thinking I don't have enough health insurance." Wherever she went, bad things seemed to follow, or were they following him? "Did you come for the show, just love the smell of dung in the evening, or are you stalking me?" He asked in a joking manner. It was hard to tell. His serious face was pretty funny.
Sarah Connor Sarah almost laughed. Instead she gave a soft 'huh'.

"No. Good lord no. And I really bother with dates." She have to trust someone a darn sight more than she did right now. "Just looking. You know, checking out the neighborhood."

Yeeeeeah. Right.
Hannibal King "Just looking?" He repeated, and thought about mentioning how he was demonstrating the fall catalogue, the way the leather felt against his skin, the position of the buttons on his shirt, but decided against that. He could read a room. Shifting into private detective mode, he asked, "and what pray tell, might need checking out in this neighborhood? It's definitely not the hot pretzels, although they are chalked full of salty goodness."
Sarah Connor "The usual riff raff." After all, the terminators were some sort of riff raff. "You know, terminators." Sarah shrugs. "You?"

She presumed he was out because of vampires. In Sarah's life there was little time to enjoy the scenery, so to speak.
Hannibal King "Oh, I'm here to see the Night Parrots they have. Did you know that there were no confirmed sightings between 1912 and 1979. People thought they had gone extinct. And now, well, still endangered, but they exist. Makes you wonder what else might be out there, long forgotten, yet, still out there."
Sarah Connor Sarah thought about that momentarily. "Come to think about it, there are probably lots in our green spaces. But they're getting smaller every day. I did see lot of parrots in South America though."
Hannibal King "That's one thing we kind of have to give the machines," not that he was sure he believed her story, "but my guess is their interest in the outdoors is greatly diminished. So, if that future does come to pass, at least it'll be good for the animals in the jungles. Silver linings, right?"
Sarah Connor "No." Sarah's face goes blank, hiding her true feelings. "When the terminators take over the earth, they will destroy pretty much the rest of the planet's flora or fauna. Remember they're machines. They don't find anything about them useful."
Hannibal King "That's short sighted. Plastics, rubbers, resins, dyes, they all come at least in part from plant life. If you eliminate all the animals, then bacteria and other things will get at the plants. Birds drop seeds. Manure. You take too much away from an environment, it breaks down. It can live without humans. But we don't really play an active part in the environment, except to destroy it. Come to think of it, take out enough trees and that'll cause problems for the air. They may not need to breath, but air pressure matters, combustion... if anyone decided to eliminate all life, they would royally screw themselves, man or machine."
