Jax     In the early evening, there is almost guaranteed to be one place to be utterly deserted in the school. While some might linger in the rec room, others might be loitering in the gym or congregate in the kitchen for some late social snacking, not even the most devoted of teacher's pets would be seen dead in the classrooms. Like, totally uncool. Which makes it ideal for someone who has something to hide...

It should be said that the door to the music classroom is pretty well shut, and the sound insulation designed to spare the ears of the unwary from the attempts at musicality perpetrated within is top notch. Barely a note leaks out into the hallway beyond, except for those with extremely sensitive hearing.

And to anyone with such superhuman hearing, it's obvious someone is listening to music in there.

Either that, or someone invited Herman Li.
Kit Killovarras Well, it's not where he normally would wind up if he were to hide somewhere in the school for some reason or another, though he has done just that on occasion.

Kit catches the sound of music from one of his normal haunts and decides to be curious, following the sound and cracking the door ever so slightly, ever so quietly. It's just far enough for the yeen to poke his head in curiously.
Jax     Ever so slightly is just enough of an opening for the music to escape out. Once it does, free of the constraints of baffles and insulation, the notes and melodies run free through the corridor, unleashed, bouncing off walls and wailing off into the darkness beyond. The sound is off the leash, and it streams past Kit with wild abandon.

Which also, roughly, the way a certain cat mutant seems to be playing air guitar at the other end of the music classroom. Except that is not an air guitar, but an actual, tangible six-string. It's even plugged in. My, but Jax is taking that fantasy far, eyes closed, even looks like he's actually...

    Wait, is he actually...

That is most certainly his voice!

~And on the wings of a dream, so far beyond reality
On and on in desperation, now the time has come!
    Lost inside you'll never find,
    Lost within my own mind,
Day after day this misery must go ooooooooon!

So far awaaaaaay we wait for the daaa-aaay~
Kit Killovarras It's far too tempting a prospect for the Aardwolf not to slink into the room, though he doesn't need to be silent due to the volume. Once inside though, he perks his ears forward to listen for a little while before letting his heel connect with the door, putting in motion the sound that would cause a sudden bit of chaos..

To the right kind of ears, it would be a jarring sound, a door closing when you think you're alone and the Aardwolf would be sitting there near the door, leaning against the wall with a little smile playing across his muzzle.
Jax     It would be a cruel thing to do to an insecure musician, especially in the ascent to what is most likely one of the most epic guitar solos ever recorded. As it is, the door slams shut in the brief silence before the bridge, and Jax suddenly looks over to the sudden sound, eyes wide. Caught! But then he sees who has just come in, and the expression turns into a grin.

Ears perking up, Jax tosses his pick towards Kit and extends the claws of his right hand, without seemingly missing a note in the long run-up.

    Then claws meet strings....

What follows can only be described as a solo guitarist's wet dream.
Kit Killovarras Kit just watches, ears still perked forward, waiting for the felines fantasy to play out as he sticks his tongue out at him. His tail sways a bit to the melody, not trying to keep up with every beat but at very least he seems to be enjoying himself.

When the pick is thrown at him, it suddenly shifts directions, spiraling back towards the feline as the dozen pics in the mic stand suddenly jar loose and begin swirling around him as well, each held and controlled by an unseen force that just sort of swirls around Jax, each pick dancing to the music in it's own way.
Jax     Can't get any better? The guitar screams and sings, as claws slide over the strings and pluck faster than a single pick ever could. On the fretboard, calloused finger pads slide along the nickel wound Ed Ball strings, tapping the arpeggios and raking through the slides. Even the guitar itself doesn't remain still, because with so much furious energy being unleashed, Jax has to walk and pose, eyes in small slits as if he's only barely aware of the room around him.

Until the picks start dancing for him. Then, it seems, the very demons of rock and metal are unleashed and Jax jumps on top of the amplifier stack, one bare footpaw even coming to rest on the top of the piano next to him. Hunched over, the mutant picks and shreds his way through the final taper of the solo and then leaps down, ending in a hero crouch, arms spread wide as he slowly rises, the guitar still vibrating to an extended, slowly dying note.

Eyes snap open, and his hand return to the instrument, snatching a pick out of the air on the way down.

~Now here we stand with their blood on our hands
We fought so hard now can we understand
I'll break the seal of this curse if I possibly can
    For freedom of every man!

So far awaaaaaaay we wait for the daaaa-aaay
For the light source so wasted and gone!
We feel the pain of a life time lost in a thousand days
Through the Fire and the Flames we carry on!~
Kit Killovarras When the music finally dies down, Kit gives a bit of a clap as he pulls away from the wall and walks towards Jax, giving a little chuckle and a simple, "Damn, I get to learn something new about you every day."

The aardewolf sticks his tongue out at the feline for a moment, glancing to the picks as they dart back over to the mic stand, settling themselves back into place. "Also, DragonForce? Didn't peg ya for the type, but at least you have good taste."
Jax     And, after all that energy expended, Jax breathes deeply, panting for a moment as he acknowledges the compliment with a furious ear blush. There's not actually smoke coming off that guitar, but it looks like it should. Certainly sounded like it should. "Thanks man. And yeah, well, y'know... speed, energy, what's not to like. B'sides, I figured, if I ever learn to play like that, I can play anything."

    Significant.
    Pause.

    "Just... don't tell anyone, okay?"
Kit Killovarras Kit laughs a little, then leans down and gives Jax's cheek a little nuzzle as he murmurs, "No worries, your secret's safe with me." before sticking his tongue out at him again.

There's a little pause and the Yeen just gives a little shrug, adding, "So long as I get to see this side of you more often." with a devious little grin. Then he gives a little shrug and reaches into his hoodie pocket, pulling out - of all things - an old MP3 player as he adds. "I'll admit though, not my first choice in music but that's probably because I have weird taste."
Jax     There is, perhaps not entirely surprising, a quick purr at the nuzzle, but Jax catches himself soon enough and unslings the guitar, placing it carefully back down on the stand. It's probably his own personal axe, given that it seems to have lived a hard and adventurous life if the finish is anything to go by. "Thanks man. There's so many actual musicians in this school, they don't need me muddying the waters."

Another pause as he turns to look at the Aardwolf with his right ear tilted quizzically. "An' what side is that?"
Kit Killovarras The purring gets Kit's attention and he just chuckles quietly as he walks over to one of the sound systems knows he can jack into, reaching into his hoodie again to pull out the proper cord. The MP3 player turns on with the off-brand chime and a little beep. "Each musician has their own talent, you're no different. Besides, people thrive on competition."

Then he gives Jax a glance and lets an ear fold to the side, the other perking up a little before he just chuckles, "Well, I mean.. It might sound weird, but I want to see the side of you that you typically hide.." Well, at least he's blunt, right?
Jax     "Ooh, that side." Jax grins and finds a spot to lounge. Nobody lounges like a cat with nothing to do. And, as it turns out, the nearest spot is the top of the amplifier stack, which has the advantage of also being warm. That tube amp has been put through the wringer. Really, he should be cleaning up his pedals and effect pods, but... eh. Later. Always later.

As the tip of his tail starts to bop to the music, he gives a shrug. "Dunno if that side exists though. What you see is pretty much what you get. No deep water here, just a wide lake an inch deep."
Kit Killovarras "If that were really true," Kit says as he thumbs through his music, giving a little smile. "You wouldn't agonize about things the way you do." Then he gives a little shrug and looks to the lounging feline, leaning over to nudge him again as he adds, "Plus, for as good as you are at acting, you don't do it all that well sometimes."

Theres a little beep and the MP3 player gets set down.. Piano music comes on and the aardwolf leans on the stack Jax is lounging on. There's no lyrics that eventually play, but there may be a reason for that.

"What would I do without your smart mouth? Drawnin' me in and you're kicking me out,"
"Got my head spinnin', no kiddin, I can't pin you down."

The yeen's a good singer when he's not trying, a fair singer when he's in front of a crowd, but when he's comfortable? He can hit every note, every subtle shift, every note in ways that most people would kill to be able to.

"What's goin' on in that beautiful mind?"
"I'm on your magical mystery ride,"
"And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright."

"My heads under water, but I'm breathing fine."
"You're crazy and I'm out of my mind."
Jax     Eeeeh. Hmmm. There's something distinctly disarming about being figured out by someone else without seemingly any effort. Jax sits almost frozen when the music starts, the notes of the piano bouncing around in a mind that has suddenly gone blank out of sheer self defense, and roiling with conflicting thoughts... it's a cat things...

But then there is that voice, and slowly Jax blinks. His ears first perk up, and then swivel forwards as the lyrics start to hit him, tilting at a disarmingly kitten-ish angle. His mouth drops into a surprised 'o'... for someone with such good senses, he can be disturbingly imperceptive about certain things.

That is, until he gets the musical equivalent of an engraved invitation that is. A large neon sign put to song. The words 'This is a large hint' wrapped in lyrics.

    Blink.

    Blush!
Kit Killovarras Well, there is a point where the Aardwolf can be blunt and this might just be one of them. He grins a little at the face that Jax makes, but he just keeps singing and nudges him gently.

"'Cause all of me, loves all of you. Love your curves and all your edges. All your perfect imperfections."
"Give your all to me, I'll give my all to you. You're my end and my beginning. Even when I lose I'm winning."
"'Cause I'll give you all, of me. If you'll give me all, of you."

Yup, the yeen can be terribly blunt, even when he's being a corny bastard and professing his love for someone through a song.
Jax     How is a cat supposed to respond to this? Jax is more used to being the direct one, the one that can be so blunt he cuts himself. But this? This is not something he was ready for.

Okay, so there may have been a few subtle hints in the past...

As the song continues, Jax sits there, as if half melted, tail not sure to curl up or sway, ears not certain if they should be folding back or perking forwards. There's a lot of mixed messages that are coming from what usually passes for his brain, and for want of a better response, his body seems to decide that blushing is a perfectly acceptable middle ground.
Kit Killovarras "How many times do I have to tell you, even when you're cryin' you're beautiful too."
"The world is beating you down, I'm around, through every mood."

Theres a little nudge with his nose under Jax's chin and smiles, looking him in the eyes as he sings the next bit,

"You're my downfall, you're my muse. My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues."
"I can't stop singing, it's ringing in my head for you."

He goes through the chorus again, still watching Jax and - unless he looks away - would look him in the eye the entire time. He doesn't continue, but lets the piano music play on as he tilts his head a little and gives a little smile, his ears folding back and to the sides a little as he asks, "So, what do you say?"

Aaand there it is, there was a reason he altered the wording of the chorus both times..
Jax     Say? Say?! Who could possibly expect Jax to /speak/ at a moment like this?!

The little nudge under his chin nearly knocks him off his sprawl atop the amplifier. You could have knocked him down with a feather. Eyes meet eyes, a locked gaze that doesn't break. Or blink.

What does he say? Hah. The power of speech has quite left him. And this the kind of time when a purely verbal response simply would not do. At all.

In one fluent movement, Jax is up and moving. Or is that horizontal and moving? It's not a full pounce, he didn't have the space for that, but it's a pretty firm tackle that ends with his arms around Kit, and his head on the other mutant's shoulder.

    Purring.

    Purring like a happy kitten.
Kit Killovarras Well! Perhaps that wasn't the response that the Yeen expected, but while he's falling he makes absolutely certain to arch his own back so that when he hits the floor, Jax's face doesn't smack into it too!

Theres a moment of 'oof' from him before he lets out a laugh, wrapping his arms around the feline before giving his cheek a gentle lick.

"I'll take that as a yes." he says after a moment of enjoying the sound of purring. It's rare when the yeen's tail truly wags. A little sway here and there maybe, but at the moment you could dust a room with how the thing is moving.
