Rose Kolodny Angelo's. Late enough at night that the initial rush has already come and gone, but there's still people lingering about the place. One of them's a woman, late thirties, small child with her. Looks like she might have been crying, and recently, for all that she's already made the effort to go into the bathrooms and clean up her make-up. Kid can't be more than six, with that slightly dishevelled look of a child for whom its been a long day and they're not sure what's going on and has reached that point between too cranky to be tired, and too tired to be nice.

It took all of the womans change, just to buy the pizza that they're waiting on, as she watches the street with the kind of nerves that telegraph to anyone watching that she's scared someone might find them but she's still trying to pretend like everything's okay... for the sake of the kid.

And she is being watched. The woman in black came in probably a good half an hour ago now. Lean and unremarkable except for the fact that she's wearing sunglasses. At night. She's taken up a spot just across the doorway from the woman and ostensibly has her back turned towards her and the child, but no-one positions the napkin dispenser just so unless they're using its reflection to watch something behind them. No matter the show about picking at a slice with tapered burgundy nails set on the table in front of her. Most people might miss, but someone trained for such things, will no doubt notice that there's the tell tale bulge under her left arm of a holstered pistol. Friend? Cop? Or the other ladies trouble lurking close by?
Sam Axe Angelo's has become sort of a home base for Sam with his resent move to Brooklyn. You might not be able to get a mojito there, but the pizza is great and the beer is cold so it fits Sam's needs. Since he had no where in particular to be this evening he has stayed through the rush and is working on his third slice of pizza and at least that number of beers. At first glance he does not look like much but that is by design. A longer look would notice that despite his age he is still in excellent shape and moves like a trained professional.
He has noticed the woman in obvious distress and the child, while he would deny it, this sort of thing almost garunteed he will help out if he can, at times without even being asked to. He notices that she has a tail, and armed tail at that so he finishes his current slice and picks up his glass of beer and heads over to the table with the armed woman. He is not armed, well except for the glass if things get realy ugly. He sits down across from the woman in sunglasses, "Hey there, bout time you got here, I thought you stood me up.' He says a bit louder than normal conversation almost like he was trying to draw attention.
Rose Kolodny Black lenses... over silver ones? There's the gap where Molly looks over the 'disguise' lenses at Sam's arrival, the tilt of her head considering for the space of a few seconds before she flicks her fingers in the direction of the seat opposite her,"Well, you know how traffic is." is the well modulated response, low to try and avoid notice, with an accent that somehow manages to be Tri-State without pinning itself down to anywhere.

The loudness causes the woman at the opposite table to flinch and twist about, skittering her attention over Sam and the woman in black. But from the lack of reaction to the lean woman's presence in comparison to the look she shoots Sam... not a guard. At least, not one hired by her. And probably not the person she's worried about, either.

"Come on Mikey... just eat your pizza, please." she requests of the kid with a glance for the street, careful about picking up a glass of water from her table for a sip.

Molly offers out one of her hands towards Sam,"Molly." is the introduction that accompanies it. Something slightly 'off' about that hand. The burgundy nails clearly fake, yes, but the skin of her fingertips too smooth, absent the whorls and lines of a fingerprint, but not scarred as if she'd deliberately maimed them for the effect.
Sam Axe Sam nods, and is a normal volume "Yeah it can be a...pain." He was clearly thinking of using another term there but censored himself. He glances over at the woman and child then back to Molly. The ex-SEAL shakes his hand, his grip is strong but not trying to prove anything he pauses at the introduction before answering, "Sam." To a professional it is clear he was thinking about using another name. He glances at the hand and smiles, "Got your nails done." He poses an odd sounding question, "I missed the paper today, could you catch me up on the headlines?"
Rose Kolodny "Sam." Molly repeats, her own grip light before she retracts it, the brow above her glasses arching briefly before her lips curl,"Yes, I did." she agree's before her gaze drifts towards the street,"The usual from what I could see." there's a pause from her as she settles through a few things in her head.

"Been looking at this car. Tinted windows. High clearance. Not so great for the city." those nails reach out to adjust the position of the napkin holder, carefully, precisely, to bring the watery reflection of a black SUV into sight up around the corner,"Owned by a couple of smokers, though." she states as if she's really talking about something she's considering buying.

The woman takes out her phone at the next table, plugging in a number and after the pause that suggests she got dumped to voicemail warbles into it quietly,"Mom, it's Angela. Give me a call when you get this okay? Please? Just... give me a call."
Sam Axe Sam considers the answer for a moment then looks out the window expecting to see the potential purchase outside and he nods, "The downside of those things is the gas milliage, that'll run you a pretty penny." He glances back toward the woman and child and asks, "So what are your plans for the evening? I was thinking of catching a movie but looks like i might not make it to the theatre after all." He takes a drinks from his beer and puushes the glass to the side even though it is not quite empty.
Rose Kolodny "'s that so?" Molly enquires as she shifts the napkin holder back again so she can line up the woman and child, head tilting to one side with that curl of her lips again,"I just came out for dinner. But when I caught this... show.. it piqued my interest. Seeing as you're not into large, sleek and black... makes me wonder if you prefer two-seaters." she enquires obliquely, a grimace flittering across her face at what she catches of the one-sided conversation from the next table.

The woman, Angela, slides away her phone again, reaching out to smooth the hair of the child with watery eyes. But at their table there's movement from Molly. Rising and pulling a crumpled bill from her pocket. She has to check the denomination on it before it gets tossed at the table. The reason why only takes a glance, two large men have joined a shorter one getting out of the SUV and seem set to head over to the pizza place.
Sam Axe Molly's question gets anod from Sam, "Yeah much more my speed." He answers, as event start to happen he smirks a bit, "Speaking of speed, looks like the previews might be over and the main attraction warming up." While he is unarmed he thinks quickly as salt and pepper shakers get shoved into his pocket and the napkin dispenser if picks up in one hand and testes my the man for weight.
Rose Kolodny "Sounds like a date." Molly drawls with a flash of teeth, raising a hand vaguely in the direction of the bar. Most probably wont notice that she takes of her sunglasses... and leaves them on. The silver lenses under the black left on as she heads for the door without endeavoring to get Angela's attention.

Muscle, the two guys, as clear as if they had it stamped on their heads. The short hair, thick necks, gold chains and ill-fitting suits all a language well known. Leftie has a gun in his waistband, Rightie on the other hand definitely favors the physical to judge from the array of rings across both knuckles. The front man taller but more slender through the shoulders, with a face that's probably seen some work at some point. Just a little /too/ smooth. Good suit. Gun under the arm.

Molly at least holds the door open for Sam before she turns in the direction of the three, from the way she doesn't hide it, apparently quite comfortable with the idea of just walking straight up to them for all that her hands aren't anywhere near her gun.
Sam Axe Sam decides to leave the napkin dispenser behind as he heads out with Molly, stelaing only the salt and pepper shakers to be used as weapons if need be. He smiels ot Molly as she holds over the door, "Thank you very much." He tells her as he joins her in th walks toawrds the goons. At he nears them he smiles and speaks loudly once more, "Have you heard the Good News?" He says to them approaching, "Chuck Finley, Pastor at New Line Church, how are you gentlemen doing?" His body language shifts a bit as he start to portray the image of a random street preacher and lessof a trained soldier.
Rose Kolodny Molly Millions's adaptive, he starts talking and she doesn't contradict him, casually positioning herself on the left with her hands clasped before her, both as a block to prevent them from crossing the street, and to let Sam do his thing.

"Eff off." this from Rightie as he steps around the Face, one meaty hand coming up with the intention of pushing Sam out of the way,"We're busy."

Face is smart enough to be suspicious, at least, from the way he unbuttons his jacket, for all that he plasters a too bright smile on his face and says,"Now, now, Don. No need to be rude. We're just on our way to get some food, friend... you wouldn't stop a hungry man from eating, would you?"

Leftie's not sure what to make of Molly, the lean woman's not exactly imposing in and of herself, and maybe the all black and slight smile on her face places her in the category of 'maybe they really are just crazy church people', certainly he doesn't seem overly concerned about her or Sam at present.
Sam Axe Sam does not resist getting pushed to the side instead he smiles, "Of course not, after all he Lord instructs up to feed the hungry." He says, "But of course we should say grace before eating. After all it is good to thank he who provides us with our daily bread." He says, "Sister will you join me nad these fine gentlemen in bowing our heads to give thanks." While he did not resist being pushed he imake sure to stay with in arms reach of the goons, after all once oyu aare out of arms length the guns become a huge advantage and right now he lacks one.
Rose Kolodny "Certainly." there's not the opportunity to protest, really. Molly takes the call to give thanks as some kind of authorization. There's a good few yards between her and Leftie, but she doesn't elect to reach for the gun. She's two steps before Leftie realizes that he should go for his gun, and Rightie, Don, makes the mistake of taking his eyes off of Sam for a second at the sound of her boots on the concrete.

Leftie's gun clears leather but doesn't get the chance to aim before she's already there, one nailed hand digging in to his wrist even as she buries a knee in his side with more speed than's strictly... human.

Rightie's brain is snapping back to the idea that Sam's probably his more immediate problem, while the Face is already going for his own gun as Leftie's friends try to catch up with the suddenness of the shift to violence.
Sam Axe Sam does not hesitate once Don's eyes are off of him he nails him with a solid punch right in the back of the head. "Glad you picked up on the cue." He tells Molly, "Afterr all working with strangers doesn't always work." He turns to Righties and brings the condiments into play he breaks the salt shaker and then trows it and the salt right at Righties face, it obviously won't hurt the man but Sma hopes enough salt gets into his eyes that gunplay is delayed.
Rose Kolodny Rightie takes one to the back of the head, certainly a hint he needs to pay more attention to Sam than the woman, and turns around just in time to eat salt and pepper. There's an argh from him as he claws at his face and takes a wild swing at Sam.

Leftie's busy clutching his wrist and moaning on the sidewalk as Molly kicks away his gun. Face had pulled his gun for Sam but decides to swing it Molly's way.

"You two just screwed up." Face snarls.

Molly seems content to ignore Face for the moment, or at least keeps her hands, one bloodied, one not, in sight even as she says to Sam,"Well, never was good with the books of the Re-Transfiguration." apparently content to keep Face's attention on herself so that he can put Rightie down.

"Hey! You listening to me?!" the guy with the gun demands,"Do you even know who you're messing with?!"
Sam Axe Sam answers honestly, "No, why don't you tell us? That will mean we can skip the interogation later." he ducks under the wild swing one on each side he jams his fists into Rightie's sides ot drive the air out of him, as he trys to keep Rightie between himself and Face's gun.
He oauses ot look at Molly, "Never read that one but I don't read a whole lot."
Rose Kolodny "You can tell him... I don't care, personally." Molly opines for the Face, hands still open and loose even as she takes a step over the groaning downed man to stomp a foot on his face.

"I'm with Spider Malone's crew! Hey.. hey!" apparently stomping on his muscle is enough to get him to fire a shot at Molly. And apparently she's not so fast she can dodge bullets, for all that she at least tries to jump out of the way.

Of course that means the commotion has drawn the attention of Angela in the restaurant, at least to judge from the way that she bails out of it and darts up the street towards her car with the boy in her arms.

Rightie, Don, is wheezing hard between the pepper and the sudden blows to his sides, staggering and going down to a knee as he raises his hands to ward off additional blows from Sam.
Sam Axe "Spider Malone, I will have to look up who he is." is Sam's flippant retort, but the firing of the gun causes Sam to get more serious in a hurry he does not hit Don any more instead he takes hold of the hand meant ot ward him off and executes a judo throw to send Don toward the face. Despite his more serious demeanor he kepes talking, "Now why did you have to ruin a perfectly nice conversation with gun play." He cuatiosly advances on Face.
Rose Kolodny It's hard to tell where the bullet hit Molly in the dark, the lean woman's clearly going with not trying to let it be obvious, at least. But when Sam talks and Face turns towards him she pulls the pistol from under her jacket and whistles to pull his attention back her way.

There's nothing normal about that pistol. The business end looks like the top of the peppershaker; too many holes, the blockish square all plastic and metal. Left arm, the lack of movement in it the give-away as she stands over Leftie and points at Face.

Don goes over flailing, though Face steps out of the way, the barrel twitching first towards Sam, then back to Molly as she whistles.

"What the hell is that supposed to be?" the laugh given even as he adds towards Sam,"Back... back.." the sound of Angela's car taking off raising a frustrated snarl from him,"You both are screwed!"

"I vote for shooting him." is the opinion Molly offers in a slightly strained tone, but with Sam's proximity she doesn't open up with it at least, apparently she's going to leave that call up to him.
Sam Axe Sam nods, "Looks like someone is going to have to get shot." He hastily adds, "I would prefer it not to be me." He then turns to try and catch the liscence plate of Angela's car, after all she will likely need more help. He seems ot except that the odd weapon is a fucntional one, after all he has seen all sorts of things lately.
Rose Kolodny Molly Millions doesn't need to be told twice, there's an electronic whine and *fwoomf* from the gun even as Face is bringing his gun up towards her. The host of razor-sharp darts not exactly designed for taking nice, neat prisoners. At least the muscle is still only groaning on the ground though.

Notably, Molly doesn't look in the direction of the fleeing vehicle, though her gaze goes towards the restaurant as she works on putting the gun back.

"I don't hear sirens... yet. But I understand we probably don't want to be here when they get here. Sam." she doesn't check her arm bar for wrapping her right hand around it after she's got the gun away,"Need a lift?"
Sam Axe Sam Axe nods, "Yeah live close by but think going striaght home would be a bad idea." He looks at where she tucks the gun, "That is some weapon, I know you won't likely answer this but where did you get it?" he moves to follow her since he does not knwo what she drives.
Rose Kolodny A crappy old sedan. That from the looks of it, has been bounced off a few things in it's time. Commodore; black and silver, and Molly fishes out the keys to toss his way,"Generally is." she agree's,"You get to pick where." is added, unconcerned about the vehicle evidently.. and so boringly mundane compared to her little oddities.

"Nighttown." which, well, probably isn't an answer, at least in the sense of a meaningful one,"You've got sharp eyes. Wasn't sure what to make of you when you walked over to the table... but any man that walks into a fight unarmed.." by her measure,"it's impressive."
Sam Axe He catches the keys and starts it up not really havign a destination in mind but heading towards the bridge after all Brooklyn criminals don't tend ot operate in Manhattan and vice versa so it is an easy way to lose anyone following them. He laughs as he drive, "That's nothing, been in worse scraps. If I told oyu some of my Guatemala stories it would curl your hair." he looks over at her and asks, "Need any patching up?"
Rose Kolodny "I've got time, tell me about Guatemala." Molly suggests, shaking her head a little, though she peels back the jacket to look at the wound finally,"No. It will knit itself back together eventually.. just hurts in the interim."
Sam Axe Sam Axe looks over at the wound, "That is a handy trick." he shakes his head, "Seems like everyone I run into these days is superhuman." he sighs, "Well it was a while back I was still in the service...."
Rose Kolodny "I'm not superhuman." there's a flatness in the way Molly says it, defensively annoyed,"Augmented, yes. And where I'm from that was normal." but then there's a laugh from her, a harsh little sound,"Ah, so you are an ex-soldier. Go on." the jacket's peeled awkwardly off with a grimace, but she doesn't even try to dig out the bullet in favor of simply letting it get some air, and from the twitch of her fingers is trying to resist the urge to itch at it with her nails in favor of listening.
Sam Axe Sam corrects slash brags, "Ex-SEAL." He says, "Well the Admiral in charge was not my biggest fan... for reasons and I was sent in with no real back up..." he speaks as he drives over the bridge and into Manhattan, "You know last time I was here I ended up in the middle of a robbery." He non sequiturs
Rose Kolodny "What's a SEAL?" Molly asks,"Is that like a SQUID?" admiral she gets, apparently. Unconcerned about where he might be heading other than to occasionally suggest a turn,"This city seems to be full of issues if you know where to look. It's... weird." she opines quietly before returning to,"So... a SEAL?" pause,"I have... twenty-century singer, carnivorous marine mammal, or Navy... Navy? I presume?"
Sam Axe Her question earns her a look from Sam, "You really aren't from around here are you?" He says, "Well a seal is a mammal and a squid is a fish." He shrugs, "It is a lot more complicated than Miami." He nods, "Yes Navy served for 20 years even have the pension to prove it."
Rose Kolodny "No, I'm really not from around here." Molly agree's,"And a SQUID," there's a slight difference in the emphasis she gives it,"short for Superconducting Quantum Interference Device, is a highly sensitive magnetometer used for sensing very small magnetic fields. The Navy installed one in to a friend of mine, years ago. Then abandoned him to be a sideshow attraction when they were finished with him." she nods towards the street ahead,"There's a liquor shop, around the corner on the left up ahead. I could use a drink. Anyways. So you worked for the Navy? As a soldier?" there's a distraction in her tone, mostly because she's trying to sort through the information she's pulled up even as she listens.
Sam Axe Sam pulls into a parking place for the liquor store and nods to her, "Yeah, SEAL stand for SEa, Air and Land, basicalyl the elite soliders trained to fight under any conditions. Never heard of the SQUID think but sounds like something used for detecting mines." he shrugs, "Never heard of something like that implanted though, but I am not a doctor."
Rose Kolodny "What's your poison?" Molly asks of him,"And yeh, that's part of what they trained Jones for... detecting mines. But we used it to pull erased information from a... courier." she pulls off her jacket and the pistol rig without getting out of the car, the skin of her arms tattooed in an intricate pattern resembling circuitry. In absence of other liquid she elects to lick her hand to rub at the blood on her arm.
Sam Axe Sam andser, "Rum will work, and ifthey have them some mint leaves." he smiles, "Can't find a good mojito around here so I might have to make it myself." He gets out to head into the store with her, "Sounds like tech is a lot more advanced where you are from." He shrugs.
Rose Kolodny "Rum. And mint." Molly repeats back with a nod, not complaining about him choosing to get out too, makes it easier for her at least, though she shoves the gun and jacket under the front seat to at least get it out of sight,"Well, I was born in twenty-one-ninety." it's the offhand nature of it, the slightly dry delivery that maybe lends weight to the claim as she steps into the place and calls out to the guy behind the counter,"Hey, Dave."

"Sally! Hey!" there's a pause as he notices Sam coming in too,"Hello! Good evening. Let me know if I can help you find something, eh?"
Sam Axe Sam smiles to the store owner, "Any mint leaves?" He asks he saves the awkward time travel conversation for back in the car as he browses the selection of rums. "So what are you going to get?" He asks Molly.
Rose Kolodny "Mint... leaves?" Dave repeats with some puzzlement, turning about to give it some thought before coming up with mint schnapps... so not even close to the same thing.

For her part, Molly's browsing through before she elects to come up with a whiskey, waggling it Sam's way in a silent 'this' as she prowls up towards the counter.

"Sally... always with the glasses, yes? Too cool, you think? It's dark outside."

"I know Dave."

"Why not take them off?"

"Horrible eye condition. That's... not what he needs, and that shit is foul anyways." she flicks a gesture at the bottle like 'go ahead and put it back' but had totally forgotten to clean her hand, at least to judge from the noise that Dave makes.

"Ah. Damnit. Cut my hand open earlier." lame excuse is lame,"You got some water I can use? Give me one of those bottles, too."
Sam Axe Sam Axe nods to Dave, "For a mojito..." He just shakes his head and gives up. He selects a mid-range rum and smiles, "This will do." he sets it on the counter. "Yeah you know how it is she was talking while cooking..." he makes the usiversal sign for chatter with his left hand and gives Dave a smile.
Rose Kolodny Dave, to his credit, elects to at least soak a paper towel and hand it over for all his confusion, one that slowly clears as he looks between the two,"Ahhh!" he says, pointing first at Sam, then 'Sally' with a broad grin,"No wonder you don't take my number. Yeh?"

Molly wipes at her hand before fishing out some money. Yep, there's that check again, she's still not used to dealing with dollars and has to check what she's tossing out, pretending like she doesn't see the exchange even as she deadpans,"Yes, that's why." and reaches for the bottles, content to skulk back out into the night with all due haste.
Sam Axe Sam smiles a little, but does not contradict Molly's line, after all he is used to making things up on the fly. He also lets Molly pay with out any pretene of getting out his own wallet. He grabs the bottle of tum nd heads back to the car, "Well I think it should be safe to head home." he says as he starts it up.
Rose Kolodny Molly Millions let's him drive back towards Brooklyn, by the time that's done the hole in her arm just a memory wiped off with a little bit of water and paper towel before she pulls out to head towards her own place... or at least somewhere quiet to enjoy her whiskey.
