Loki Space. The Final Frontier. Except for all of the numerous races who call it home and have become interstellar far sooner than the Midgardians. And of course above them, the Asgardians who have long since established connections through the Nine Realms. Travel throughout the cosmos is easy for any Asgardian in good standingr

Unfortunately, Loki is NOT currently in good standing. And so he is forced to travel with the lesser beings. Which is why he finds himself on a relatively non-descript transit world - one of those waystations that attracts attention not for anything inherent to itself, but instead for its proximity to major routes.

But the perfect place to negotiate travel to any destination, such as the aforementioned Midgard. Loki is engaged in a this far fruitless effort to hire passage to the Terran system. They are so terribly boring there that no one seems to want to take on the trip. He emerges from what could generously be called a restaurant with a dramatic sigh and throws up his arms in frustration. "Is there no one on this Me-forsaken planet that knows how to get from Point A to Point B? Preferably without a distinct lack of personal hygiene?"
John Stewart Then, there are those who routinely travel the universe without any aid at all: The Lantern Corps.

As in, all of them.

Each of the Corps is unique in their own ways and meddles in galactic affairs in their own ways... but the most (in?)famous of them is the Green Lantern Corps; well meaning people who serve the universe in their own ways... usually.

Today, Loki has the possibly? fortunate pleasure to see a red and green tailed 'comet' plummeting through the atmosphere high above...
Loki Glancing up to the sky, Loki tilts his head as he studies the comet. "Well, that was quick, Father." He grins for a moment and leans back against a wall, waiting to see just what Odin has delivered him THIS time.
John Stewart The red and green continue to plummet. In fact, they start to plummet /faster/ as the red dot moves behind the green dot and starts 'shoving' the other down towards the ground. Fast.

/REALLY/ fast.

Fast enough that they go through what passes for paving here, kicking up rock and dirt as they land in a crater far below.
Loki Loki's mouth quirks. "Well now. That IS interesting." He trots over towards the spot of impact. A pair of space faring objects means at least one of them should be able to help get him off this rock. He prepares himself for the worst. And silently hopes that the green one prevails - far better for his color scheme.
John Stewart At the point of impact, there are, indeed, two Lantern Ring wielders going at it. The sound of defense shield crashing against defense shield can be heard -and felt, those shockwaves are harsh- for at least a few 'blocks'. The one sheathed in Green is fighting what can only be called the ugliest looking rage monster outside of the Hulk himself. The rage filled screaming and roars from the Red Lantern fill the air... in stark contrast to the calm and collected posture of the human looking Green Lantern.

Oh... and he's not wearing a mask? He's the black human from Terra, and he's clearly trying to keep the Red Lantern pinned in the crater as his opponent wildly flails at him.

It isn't often that opposing Lantern Corps fight on planetary bodies, but when they do, it's often extremely destructive if left unchecked. Those rings are one of the most powerful weapons in the universe, after all.
Loki There is quirk of Loki's mouth. If given the chance of riding a red rage monster or a Midgarian, the choice is clear. Especially when it's a good match style wise.

Sensing that the green one could use a friend right about now, Loki steps up...
... and adds an illusionary opponent to the mix.

"Save some for Hulk!" Looming even larger than the red beast is an enormous muscular mass of monster. He beats his chest and howls at the Red Lantern.

Loki isn't exactly sure what the capabilities of these two are, but if evenly matched hopefully the Green one only needs a momentary distraction to take advantage of.
John Stewart With no warning, the sudden appearance of... the Hulk?!... actually throws both off, but it's the Red Lantern that immediately attacks the Hulk illusion.

It's more than enough for John to finally aim his ring and start firing bolts of force at him.

Wide open, the bolts have more than enough force to penetrate the sphere around the Red Lantern, who is completely exposed to the overwhelming power John puts into them.

A few moments later, and the Red Lantern is knocked out in the crater, with a hovering Green Lantern aiming his ring at him, scanning.
Loki "Well done!" Loki applauds with an slow clap as he walks over towards the crater. The Hulk waves at John and then fades away. "I hope you don't mind, it looked like that might be easier than punching him into oblivion."

Loki considers the floating man in Green. "I do rather like your taste in attire."
John Stewart As the creature sits in the crater unmoving, John glances to the newcomer. This close up, he's definitely a handsome black man from Earth... though the uniform and his glowing green eyes make it clear the Power Ring is activated still. He visibly looks Loki up and down, before he aims that ring up, "Ring scan and report on the newcomer."

A green field flits over Loki briefly... <Newcomer is Loki. Citizen of Asgard, self-titled 'God of Mischief'. Considered powerful and potentially dangerous, Database recommends avoidance if not actively malevolent.>

Those green eyes never leave Loki as he listens, "I assume that Hulk illusion was you." It was less a question, and more a statement of fact.
Loki If anything, Loki seems proud to hear his dossier. "Lucky for you, I'm not feeling actively malevolent." He flashes a grin. "And yes. That was me. He and I have had some run-ins in the past - you could say I am well acquainted with his particular brand of rage."

Loki's form shimmers and he appears with a matching uniform including the glowing ring. "Now this IS a snazzy look." He pauses. "I don't suppose you are headed to Midgard, perchance?"
John Stewart As Loki copied his Green Lantern uniform, John actually gives Loki the flattest look the Asgardian has probably ever seen from a human. "I suppose you think you're flattering me?"
Loki Loki looks down at himself. "I mean, it's more flattering on me, but what isn't?" He looks up at the Green Lantern and grins.

"So, I assume this is some sort of uniform..Are there more of you greens patrolling the universe foiling the escapades of the reds? What other colors are available?"
John Stewart There's a moment where John is just... observing Loki. Sure, he can tell Loki the truth; that's his personalized Green Lantern uniform... but that would just make him wear it around John to needle the man probably.

Best to not cement that idea.

"It's an outfit." He plays it off as he frowns at Loki. John just... floats there, as he converses, "This Red Lantern was doing some stuff we in the Green Lanterns don't tolerate. It's always been like there. We fight each other for dominance." He raises a brow, his arms crossing at the chest, "You don't know much about the Lanterns Corps, do you?"
Loki "There are vast truths in the universe and so much knowledge to accumulate." Offers Loki. "And I do my best, but no, I must say I am ignorant of you and your colleagues." He glances at the Red Lantern. "I assume it is more complex than you are the forces of "Go" and they are the forces of "Stop"?" A smile on Loki's lips. "I would be happy to learn of your credo."
John Stewart "It's much more complicated." John agrees, "It sounds like you're trying to get off this planet. I thought you Asgardians had a beam thing to transport you across space?"
Loki "Well, there is plenty of time to explain on the way to Midgard," replies Loki, with a grin. There is a nod. "Well, we do, but right now Heimdall and I are not exactly seeing eye to eye." He learns forward and whispers conspiratorially. "I played a little prank on him. Scorpions in his bedsheets kind of thing. He is still a bit salty about it." He shrugs. "But in my defense, he is all-seeing so he really should have seen it coming."
John Stewart Normally, offering transport to one such as Loki would be a bad idea... but long term, it was probably a safer thing in general.

This planet was just a waystop, no telling what Loki will get up to if he has to get onto a transport without money.

Easier to keep track of him there too, with all the sensors in place.

"Fine. I'm not a taxi, but you're better off where I can keep an eye on you." He lowers to the ground, and the defense shield expands... and a door opens in it. "Get in."
Loki Loki's eyes brighten as a lot of positive glee crosses over his face. "I have never traveled quite this way before. Is there anything I should know before hand?" He steps into the door, and looks at John. "I do not get motion sick." A pause. "Well, there was the ONE time..."
John Stewart "Don't try to screw with the shield as it contracts around you, and you'll be fine." John tells him. Suddenly, he aims his ring for the Red Lantern, caging him inside the field as well, before he launches towards the sky like a missile.

Just as fast as he came down, he goes back up... just barely keeping from doing damage to the atmosphere.

Within moments, they're in space without suits, and John is already flying towards the edge of the system.
Loki Loki is, in fact, able to keep his lunch. "Most impressive, Green Lantern." He gazes at the stars and then looks back to his pilot. "Do you have a name or a designation, something that I can refer to you by?" He leans over and peers at him a bit. "You look Midgardian, but I know that for some reason half the galaxy looks Midgardian."
John Stewart "It's an efficient form." John replies as he gets near the edge of the system. I'm John Stewart, Green Lantern of Sector 2814, which contains Earth."

As he finishes speaking, he aims his ring and a wormhole appears... which John tosses the body of the Red Lantern into.

Then, he aims his ring at another place... and a jump point slowly begins to form, "And yes, I'm from Earth."
Loki "Excellent! That is one of my favorite minor realms!" Loki flashes a grin, and watches as the Red Lantern is dumped, presumably in the trash or into some penal world, and then as the other forms. "It is a pleasure to meet you, John Stewart, Green Lantern of Sector 2814. You already know who I am." He considers for a moment. "So you are saying there are a few thousand of you, at least, flying around the universe? How have I never heard of you before. Fascinating."
John Stewart "We haven't really done much around Earth until recently, and you Asgardians haven't done much in the rest of the universe that I know of." John informs Loki, "You have your extra-planar stuff going on. We keep order in this universe."

As he flies into the jump point, the telltale signs of hyperspace travel pop up all around them... miraculously, without a ship, and with no momentum or gravity effects.

Those Power Rings have a reputation for being incredibly powerful, and this just reinforces it. No side effects from hyperspace travel? That's just about unheard of.

"As for the rest, I wish I could say the same. I'll have you back at Earth shortly. I was going that way anyway."
Loki "True. We do try to keep to our nine realms, for the most part." Loki watches the universe spin around him in wonder. "So, how does one get one of these?" He points at John's Green Lantern ring, not the one that he has added to his finger in illusion.

"Business on Earth, I take it? They could use someone of your skill right about now."
John Stewart "It's part of my sector, of course I have business there, it's my jurisdiction." John confirms, "If you want a Power Ring, you need to be worth the attention of one of the Corps."
Loki An eyebrow arches. "One of the corps," Loki repeats. "Which one do you think would be the best fit for my talents? And are they recruiting?" Not that Loki seems like one willing to join any kind of 'corps' that values group over self, but the power certainly seems to appeal to him.
John Stewart John actually observes Loki as they fly through the hyperspace tunnel he created. It's not a judgmental look, but a considering look.

"Why do you want one?"
Loki "Why? Because it would be FUN, of course?" Loki chuckles. "Don't you Lanterns have a sense of fun?" At least he is honest.
John Stewart "Depends on the person. Fun doesn't factor into it though." John observes.

After a few seconds, the other side of the tunnel opens, and they come out on the edge of Sol.

"I'm just gonna drop you near the beach near the Atlantic. You can find your own way from there."
Loki There is a disappointed frown on Loki's face. "It /should/ though."

As Midgard comes into focus, Loki smiles. "Sounds good. Can we at least make sure it's a five star resort? I just cannot abide those cheap sheets in anything less..."
